While driving my recently purchased car on the expressway, a pebble hit my front windshield and put a small hole which unfortunately two small cracks started forming. I knew it was going to keep spreading & wanted to get it repaired. I remember hearing the "Safelite repair, Safelite replace!" commercials so I went online and made a repair appointment for them to come to me on 1/6/26. You can also go to their shop but I didn't want the crack to continue to spread. You can also choose to have the windshield replaced if you're crack is more than 6 inches. When you go through the process, they set it up so you can pay for the appointment in advance - I chose the repair so I paid upfront but you can pay at the appointment. On the day of the appointment, I got an email letting me know who my tech would be which was Corey. He called me on the phone when he was near my residence. He pulled up in a Safelite van. Corey was a young guy. He got out of the car, looked at the windshield and then pulled out a dollar bill and put it against the crack to measure. He then said "I've got bad news, this crack is a little over 6 inches and Safelite won't repair it with a warranty, you need a full replacement". Nobody wants to hear that, not much empathy given. Then he shocked me what he said next. He said "Safelite won't repair but I do business on the side and I can do it for you but there won't be a warranty" Just by curiousity, I asked him how much does he charge and he told me "half of what you paid". I have a luxury vehicle, why would I ever do that? Plus, he is taking away business from the company he works for. I asked him what would be the cost for a full replacement. Then he had to get on the phone, to get an estimate. I had him send me an estimate of the replacement to my email. I wanted Corey AND his dollar bill used to measure to leave as soon as possible because after that, I didn't trust him. Shortly thereafter, I got a call from Robert, a customer associate at the Oak Lawn, IL location who quoted the replacement estimate. I made sure that I was going to get a refund for what I originally paid which I did. After that experience, I did not want to use Safelite, PERIOD! Why are you using a dollar bill to measure windshield damage? Safelite won't provide a tape measure or a basic ruler??? Unprofessional. PLEASE NOTE: when you get a repair, they use a grey resin to stop a crack from forming, I was told that the cracks would still show. They don't explain that to you on the website. Why would I pay for a repair where the cracks still show? That's GHETTO, count me out. Safelite may be a good business but Corey as a shyster representing them messed it up for me. I Was told I would be spending a few hours waiting for my vehicle but 45 minutes later I'm driving away with my brand new windshield. My vehicle has driver assist and I have had no issues.! Do not bring a Tesla here. They either broke the humidity sensor or didn't attach it properly and refused to check how to fix it because it would involve removing the windshield again. Chris said it was just a coincidence that my problem with the windshield fogging up, began after they replaced my windshield. Convenient. Ever since they replaced the windshield at this Southwest Highway location the windshield fogs up making the vehicle undrivable because it only blows cold air. Never happened before. No matter how high you turn the temperature it will not blow warm air. He told me to have Tesla fix it but I have to pay for that. He said if Tesla says Safelite is responsible, I got you bro. I don't think Tesla is going to give me a piece of paper that says Safelite is responsible for this. So in effect, the warranty is worthless. He even said they ordered the humidity sensor. So why not just replace it? The part costs $30-$100. I would have to pay for labor as well by taking it to another place, $150-$200 an hour. Safelite warranty repair would not help me paying for the labor or the part if I take it to another shop. It needs to be done here to save unnecessary expense. FARMERS Insurance windshield protection claim automatically sent me here. My FARMERS Insurance agent said they should be responsible for properly repairing an improperly installed windshield. I paid Safelite the $100 deductible. See what other locations your insurance can send you to get it repaired if it's not done right the first time. Honor your warranty instead of making customers run around to get it fixed somewhere else and having to "show something that we broke it." Chris was not rude but paying out of my own pocket is not why I pay for insurance. This Safelite location was very busy yesterday for the second appointment, but that doesn't excuse not removing the windshield to see if the humidity sensor was disconnected or broken. Denied repair, sight unseen. They had my car all day. Dropped off as requested, 8:30 AM called back at 1 PM to pick up your car, we're not fixing that. For now I'm stuck waiting for my repair appointment is in a couple weeks. Will post update if necessary. read more

I do not recommend Safelite if your vehicle has advanced safety systems. My insurance company referred me to Safelite after my windshield was damaged by hail. A few weeks after the windshield replacement, warning lights appeared for my RAB and EyeSight systems. I took my car to the dealership, where the technicians found that the cameras were loose and the system had not been properly reassembled after Safelite replaced the windshield. When I contacted Safelite, they refused to take responsibility for the issue. I was told I should have never taken my vehicle to the dealer. The Safelite representative who called me was rude to both me and my dealer's technician and even accused the dealer of working on my car without authorization. As a result of Safelite's improper installation and refusal to resolve the issue, I was left with an additional $433 repair bill that they will not cover. If you have a vehicle with safety or driver-assist systems, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Proper calibration and reinstallation matter, and Safelite did not stand behind their work in my case. read more

A few weeks ago while on the I-55 a rock damaged my windshield. To say I was upset is putting it mildly so I resorted to my options. My insurance recommended Safelite which I was familiar with their commercial. Took car in and was told they would fill it in with some solution but I could still see the crack a bit. The insurance paid for that. 3 hours later it expanded. I called them and was told they would need to replace it. Scheduled appointment and was told it would take about 3 hours but it actually took 90 mins. They did a great job. Friendly staff. The facility was clean. My cost was around $540 because my deductible is $1000, still cheaper than I thought. Since my car needed calibration due to cameras, lane shifting feature that added to cost. Oh well I got a shiny new windshield. read more

Left car the night before appointment. Was told car would be ready by end of day the next day! I called at 3:45pm told the car would be ready within the hour. Received call within the hour to tell me it would not be ready due to calibration and traffic was prohibiting the test drive! Brought VW Atlas in 8/24 for windshield replacement due to accidental damage the day before. Everything appeared to be on track, fast, and friendly, even got an appointment for next day. Drop off, text updates, web status, etc. was all great. Picked vehicle up 4 hours after drop-off. Windshield looked great, but I noticed after sitting in the car out in the lot for 3-4 minutes checking messages that the AC was not working. I sat around for another 15 minutes to make absolutely sure it was NOT working, and the AC continued to blow searing hot air, the compressor was not doing anything. Pressing the AC button in the car didn't activate anything but the blower and the light on the button. I went back in the shop to inquire and couldn't have had a worse interaction. I waited, standing there (keep in mind I had just been in there checking out 20 minutes earlier, so it was obvious I was not a "new" customer) for another 6-7 minutes while the service/check-in agent showed pictures of her dog to a gentleman who had already completed checkout. I was also not the only person waiting in line (again). While I was still standing there, an employee came out to help someone else (waiting before me) check out, then addressed me as the woman was still chatting about her dog while customers waited in the store. I stated the issue, and he said there was nothing he would have done to cause an issue with AC (indicating this was likely the person who did the repair), with a "matter of fact" delivery that did not in any way align with the work that had just been completed. OK. The AC worked on the way in (it was already 90 degrees when I dropped the car off) and since 2018 when I bought the car. I handed over the keys, you did a repair that required adjusting wiring for cameras, sensors, and performed calibration, etc. so SOMETHING happened while the car was here that is preventing the AC from engaging now. I was not accusatory, and asked the tech if he could please come take a look to see if there was a cable disconnected, fuse blown, etc. to which he replied, verbatim, "I can look but nothin' I'll be able to do about it." Not the best answer, to which I repeated, "so there's nothing you can do to help me? The AC worked when I dropped the car off, now it does not. The compressor does not even engage when the button is pressed." while both the tech and woman at the desk looked at me with the most forlorn, empty, and supremely disinterested looks I've seen in quite some time. "I don't know anything about compressors." OK guy, you've not only missed the point but this is usually when customer service skills are supposed to take over, or when you go get someone who might be able to do SOMETHING other than nothing. In any case I've paid $1200+ and now have a decidedly worse problem than I had before I brought the car in for the glass replacement, given the current weather. Safelite in general seems like a respectable organization, but I certainly wouldn't come back to this location based on what just happened today. I now have to make another appointment at the dealer to see if they can fix under "warranty" what worked without issue prior to having the car serviced at Safelite. read more

My wife and I were displeased with the service we received here. We took our Kia Niro here with a crack windshield replacement that required a 2-3 hour calibration after the installation but it ended up taking six hours. A week later the car's defrost system would not turn off. Constantly blowing hot air in the middle of the summer. Turns out that they installed an aftermarket windshield that is not compatible with the car. We set up an appt to fix it again and the staff at the store didn't have the Kia brand windshield in stock. A 30 min trip for nothing! It's now finally fixed but this was a 6 week ordeal. Honestly get your act together satellite and watch out because they'll try to cut corners with poor quality aftermarket parts! read more

This company is full of complete bs. When you voice you have an issue with the services provided they promise you to contact you and figure out a solution but no one has any idea how to fix the issue. When you bring up their customer satisfaction guarantee they give you the run around. It has been a month and my windshield repairs has expired still not been completed, nothing they promised to repair has been honored and I keep getting generic responses with no direct help. Today, Safelite sent a technician to replace the rear window in our Acura RDX. The technician arrived, then began removing the broken rear window, using the palm of his hand to break glass, which fell to the interior of the rear door. He tried to vacuum the broken glass, then told me I would need to take the vehicle to an Acura dealer to have the lower panel taken out to remove the glass he broke, which fell into the holes to lower panel. I called my insurance company Statefarm, they referred me to the Safelite warranty division, who disconnected the call before I could speak with anyone. Additionally, I ordered a rear wiper, the tech broke the wiper arm trying to install the blades ( said he would return to replace it) did not give a time. Ricky called from their shop, told me they are covering the broken wiper arm with out warranty and wanted payment for the work done. They should be covering this cost as it is their mistake. I also have a extra part that was not reinstalled. If you need to have this glass replaced in this particular vehicle, let the dealer do it so you are not left with glass in your door!!!!!! Now StateFarm, my insurance wants to open another claim for the broken glass to be removed from the rear panel of the door by Acura. This means another $500 deductible. DO NOT USE SAFELITE UNLESS YOU WANT THIS SITUATION TO OCCER TO YOU. If I could give zero stars I would. I may have to update my review later in the week, depending on the resolution of my issue. I had my windshield replaced, and I was pleased with the results. However, when I drove the car in the rain, my wiper assembly on the driver side came off and broke. The technician had not assembled the unit correctly while working on my car. I returned to the shop to be told they couldn't fix the issue, and I needed to take the car to Mercedes, where they had the parts and expertise. According to Safelite customer service, they will pay for the repair, but I'm not sure of my upfront cost or the time I'll have to wait for reimbursement. I'm also frustrated because on my first visit for this replacement, I had to wait a week for an appointment, and when I arrived, they had ordered the wrong windshield. This meant I had to wait another week for an open appointment. Which now results in me having a have a third day tied up with Mercedes service to repair an issue Safelite caused. I want to be fair because I have used Safelite in the past and have been satisfied. So, I'm willing to see how this overall plays out and update this review accordingly. Story time: So while driving a rock hit my windshield and made a tiny dent in the windshield....no crack....just a dent....that if you didn't clean the windshield by hand you wouldn't have noticed it. I called Safelite AutoGlass to come repair it because knowing it was there annoyed me. The technician arrives around 2:30pm yesterday to repair the dent. He asked if I've used Safelite before and I stated my husband did years ago....he then asks when he's done shall he call me? I tell him to just knock on the door. It had been a while so I decide to go out back and check on him....he looks confused and I asked him what's wrong. He then says the windshield cracked....I asked him how the hell did he crack my windshield? Mind you....yesterday was what....almost 90 degrees? He said the resin did it and that he's sorry. I'm pissed at this point and call the office in Oak Lawn who then explains that with the force the technician applies plus the resin that it sometimes will cause a crack and they just document it as unsuccessful. Ok.....MR Technician and Ms. Manager.....who's replacing my windshield that YOU'RE responsible for CRACKING?! The receptionist that scheduled my appointment nor did the technician explain that this was a possibility....otherwise I would've told the technician and/or receptionist that's ok. Now I'm no scientist by any means but I do know that with heat, glass expands. Naturally, the glass was already hot from sitting in the temperature outside....then the technician added more heat plus resin? Not one single person mentioned the possibility of damaging my windshield during the repair.....NOT ONE...."Safelite repairs, Safelite replace" That's your slogan correct? On 9/5/2023 I dropped my car off at Safelite Auto Glass on Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn, IL to have broken glass replaced in the front passenger side door. While I was waiting for a ride to pick me up and take me home a Safelite employee told me my car was repaired. My car was in the shop probably 40 minutes or less and the glass was replaced. Just had my chipped windshield "repaired". Funny thing about that is the word repaired is defined as restoring or fixing something. Im expecting my chip to be gone after paying 150 to fix a chip smaller than a dime. If they would have told me before the "repair" that they are only restoring the structural integrity and not the actual chip which is still highly visible i would have bought a new windshield in the first place. Three weeks after replacing my windshield, a stress fracture appeared in the lower corner, starting at the edge of the glass. They refused to honor the warranty, claiming that it was due to impact. I came here because satellite is a well known windows glass repair/ replacement with good service and gets the job done. But in my case it was the complete opposite. They did a lazy job and end up scratching my car damaging it, broken glass everywhere in my car, molding wasn't even heated properly, and didn't even call me when my car was ready. I had a cracked window for Audi Q7. Safelite (from Oak Lawn IL) installed a new one. However, winshield wipes were incorrectly installed and did not work. The rain sensor eas also not properly placed & did not work. They came one more time to fix what had to be doen right the first. On the top of all this , just noticed a leak and it appears they forgot to put one part because of that passenger seat floor all wet. So disappointed.... I've been working with them since June about my windshield. My first appointment the tech showed up and then realized I had cameras in my car and said he didn't have the correct windshield and it had to be a special order. The windshield was ordered in July. I had an appointment and the day before I received a phone call that it was on back order and i would be notified when it arrived. I reached out in September and was told that I would be available the following week. So they gave me an appointment and the day came and went and no one showed up. I was going to have them out to the house on 7-29-2019 It was raining out,So I cancelled the appointment For the next morning. Windshield was inspected and quoted by professional and when the work was done to fix a small crack in the windshield my wife was told that they were unable to fix it and charged her the quoted price anyways. They sent her on her way telling her that if the crack gets bigger and she wants a new windshield then they will apply the price paid towards a new windshield. If you are a professional and see cracked windshields all day long you should know and tell the customer right away that this is not fixable. read more
