I decided to have appetizers for dinner and asked the two come when everyone was served with dinner. Well she brought out the bruschetta along with everyone's appetizers. I just took them. These were the smallest pieces of bread that I've ever seen. The tomatoes tasted a bit old and bland. That goodness they had balsamic vinegar on the table. 45 minutes later after 2 inquiries about where our food was we were served. My 2nd appetizer was served. Gorgonzola stuffed mushrooms. If I hadn't been so hungry I would have sent these back. No way was that Gorgonzola cheese! So bland, no flavor. My husband's bolognese was so watery and unappealing. He powered through again extremely hungry. Maybe it was an off night, maybe it is how the kitchen runs itself now, we will not be returning.

We got one crabcake each, and Lea and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. We then chose the swordfish special and the cioppino as our main courses, and, again we were happy with our decisions. This was our second visit to Cafe Fiore, and on both occasions, we found the service to be special and the environment to be warm and inviting. Some might even call the environment, cozy. I concluded my meal with the house made white chocolate ice cream, and Lea was able to resist as she was full. So you've got about eight weeks and reservations will, I'm sure, get quite hard to get the closer the end comes. This was the third of three restaurants that I would consider iconic at Lake Tahoe that are closing or have closed since October 2024. Change is constant, and now three great places are gone. So today we had good drinks, great company as we knew people, affordable cocktails, and we enjoy a great environment. We sat outside and enjoyed the Norman Rockwellesque Esmeralda Avenue.
