I found this place, by chance, tucked quietly in a light commercial complex. When I first read the name, I thought it was a regular liquor store. Then I saw "Deli" and thought, hmm a liquor store with pre-made sandwiches maybe? But this didn't look like any liquor store. I decided I better go look for myself. Boy am I glad I did! The liquor store is beautiful, and is more like an addition or equal partner, to a full blown, home cooking, full service deli! Everything smelled great and the large wood bar top table with news papers strewn about was calling my name from the moment I walked in. I looked over the hand written menu on the wall. A small, yet complex menu of original sandwiches, empanadas and soup. I ordered the Ruben Gonzales and a cup of Chicken Chipotle Chowder. It came with a drink, so I helped myself to The Sure Sugar Soda Co. Ginger ale. My sandwich was crisp, and delicious. The pastrami was rich and not greasy. The mild sauer kraut was crunchy and the chipotle mayo was light and complimentary. Toasted jalepeno cheese bread and a thin goo of pepper jack brought the magic!Phenomenal! The steaming hot soup was like nothing Id seen before. A golden chowder with a creamy little dollop of sour cream in the middle. Hearty and lively Mexican flavors of chicken, potatoes and corn mixed together in steamy delight! I destroyed the entire sandwich and I feel like a nap now. Mmmm read more

Super sweet ladies always happy to help. Unique sandwich menu you won't find just anywhere. If I lived closer, I would be a more frequent customer. GREAT deli counter! The Reuben and the Angry Bird are AWESOME! I absolutely love the Jalapeno Cheese bread on the Reuben. The MAD Pickles are worth purchasing and supporting a local business. New deli/liquor store in a part of Buda that looks to be on the verge of a population explosion. My wife really loved their soup & my bistro sandwich hit the spot. They're a new liquor store so their selection might not be as plentiful as the corporate big dawgs, they offer the necessities to make any house party great. As far as beer goes, they have a small craft selection but again, not the greatest selection I've seen. I would love to see this place offer a "make your own 6 pack" like some of the grocery stores/places in Austin. Proof has potential & if the area grows at the rate it's looking will do quite well for themselves. I look forward to seeing their progress. read more

Stopped in to see what they had. Really good selection of local beers and liquor. That's always a plus to serve local items. We bought a slice of the goat cheese carrot cake and holy smokes...delish!! My only turn off was the loud death metal music that was playing when we were in there. I can't imagine sitting and eating in there with that playing...just not my type of music. But we got in and out with our items and we will go back. Staff was friendly too and helpful. read more

Sorry, I know there's a lot of good reviews here, but my experience just wasn't the same. Not only did I pay $25 for two sandwiches and one soup, I had to wait 30 minutes for this, and there were only two other people in the place, so not super busy. Left visibly irritated. We are so glad we found this hidden gem while in Buda! It's not off of 35 or on Main Street, so you have to know its there. It's a quaint, modern liquor store with a deli and a few tables up front to dine at. The menu is diverse, with both hot and cold sandwiches, soups, and even a kids menu. The gentleman behind the counter offered that they can make almost any sandwich into a salad as well. The sandwiches are all around $9, but you get a 1.50 discount at lunch. For the size of the sandwiches, this is a great deal. I had a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, provolone, avocado and mayo. There was SO much turkey on the sandwich that I even ended up taking some off. That's a good problem to have! The turkey was extremely fresh and thin sliced, which I prefer. The lettuce and tomatoes were picture perfect, and just as tasty. The provolone did not add any taste to the sandwich, so I opted to remove it. I don't usually enjoy cheese, so this may just be a personal preference as well. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness, and whole grains to give it some hearty texture. All in all, an A+. The sandwiches are served with a generous handful of plain potato chips, though they were a little stale, and a pickle. My husband loved his hot turkey sandwich as well, though he commented he didn't feel like he had a "light lunch" after that. The sandwiches are huge and certainly very filling! He also tried the cauliflower soup. It was creamy and mimicked potato soup, with jalapenos to give it a big boost of spice. We both enjoyed it immensely. The only bummer of our visit was that they seemed to be out of a lot of things. There were no empanadas, which we tried to order, nor any tuna salad. We had the last bowl of the veggie soup as well. Would love to see them add a few tables outside, as it was gorgeous out the afternoon of our visit! read more

One of my favorite lunch spots in Buda! Everything I have tried is amazing but the cashew pesto dip and ruben are two of my favorites.

I've been here four times for lunch so far and every time it has been amazing! Great sandwiches with really friendly staff. They will customize your sandwich for you if needed and comes with pickle and chips. Also has liquor store inside if you need to grab something for the bar. A great addition to the Buda community. I stopped in here for lunch when it first opened. The food is fantastic. I had the kale salad and tried two of the three empanadas (goat cheese and spinach and the chicken). Delicious! I had heard of Proof through the grapevine and stopped in with a friend to experience the deli and peruse the tequila selection. To start, the decor is colorful and welcoming. I've shopped in many a dingy liquor store only to be practically ignored by the sales people. The owner was there, Debbie, and she is absolutely delightful and friendly. I found my favorite organic tequila, Dulce Vida, and decided to try their variety of handmade empanadas. Delicious! I will definitely be back to try the Rueben! Was hard to chose as the menu has a healthy selection of great mains and sides. Our experience was terrific and I'm happy Buda has this gem of a eatery and liquor store. I definitely recommend a visit! We are going back next weekend:) read more

I found Proof by happy accident. The selections of food and spirits is just right. You have to order the Reuben Gonzales -it's a Reuben sandwich with a TexMex flair. Delicious. The only thing I've ever come in here for is liquor, and rarely. It would be so great to have a local, close liquor store. But as a Jameson whiskey drinker, I'm pretty familiar with the difference stores' prices and Proof BY FAR the most expensive I've come across. I by a 1.75L bottle at Total Wine & More for $39. It is $60 at Proof!! Would love to support a local place but not at $20 extra a bottle! read more

I was only driving in to town for a wedding, so I looked and found the closest liquor store to our venue. Glad we stopped here. Very nice and swanky vibe. Clean store and the layout made it very easy to find what we were looking for. The owner was very nice, she helped me and my wife find lime juice in the fridge. Dayum! I just had the best roast beef sandwich (Du Pre Cheesesteak) I've eaten in recent memory! Followed with a scratch made cupcake. To top it all off, I took home a hard to find in Buda nice bottle of Spanish red and a jar of local salsa. These lovely local ladies know how to make a sandwich and recommend a wine. The Italian Engagement soup is some of the best home made soup I've ever had. Proof Liquer is a great destination stop in Buda for the Italian Engagement soup any time of the day. I wasn't sure at first about going into a liquor store to check out their deli since I don't drink & therefore, do not frequent that type of establishment. But, boy, I'm glad I did! By the far the best sandwiches in the area. The Reuben has a ton of meat and fills me up every time. The chicken salad is also great. They also have really good soups but it's expensive if you get a sandwich. They should have a discount for soup when your buy a sandwich . read more

The boyfriend and I finally got around to visiting Proof for the food this week. We've already been back for more! On the first trip, he had the Ham Sammy and I had the Dolly Lama. Both were delicious! I did find myself wishing the Dolly was on flatbread or naan, rather than the 9 grain, but it was still super tasty and filling. Today, we both tried to Smokin Bird, and let me tell you... So good! I shouldn't have eaten the whole thing (it's huge!), but I couldn't help myself. It's so nice to have such a great option for lunch so close to home! The service is quick and super friendly. We get a few minutes to walk around and absorb their fantastic booze selection (it's already become our go to stop for beverages of the adult persuasion) while sipping on a Topo Chico, and the food is ready to go before we know it. Plenty of time left to stop in at home and check on the pups before heading back to the office. This will definitely be a regular stop for us! read more
