I consulted with this company for a balcony rail repair and pool wall renovation. Mike came over and his demeanor was not friendly to say the least. As a matter of fact, he seemed slightly annoyed and bothered when I opened the door. Anyway, we walked up the stairs so I could show him the project area. He looked around my home and mumbled , "so much hardwood floors " not in a complimentary way. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He proceeded to take measurements of the balcony rail and the pool wall and was supposed to send me a quote. He requested my email address, which I sent him, then I waited and waited for his response. When I didn't get any response, I called.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He verbally told me a quote that would include both projects and I asked if it was possible to separate each. He said definitely he can. Next message I received was " With all the tariffs material prices changing, I'm gonna have to pull out from bidding your job." like what! That was the lamest excuse he could come up with but I think it was something else. . I'm just surprised in this enlightened age this foolishness is still happening. Would not recommend this company to any of my friends or family. PS. I edited to add that I had also requested rain gutter installation quote through this same company. They sent a guy out and he told me he could not do my rain gutters because of the slope of the house. He does not install gutters on houses like mine but I can go down town to this area around M street??? And ask for some guy. Maybe that guy can help me. . I cannot make this crap up!!! Wow, what an amazing experience from beginning to end of the remodel of my backyard. Mike came out and listened to what my husband and I wanted in our backyard. He was very professional, friendly, and not pushy. We chose him because of these attributes. He redesigned the pool deck by lazer technology because the old drain system needed to be improved. He laid 700 square feet of concrete and boy the finish on it is exquisite. He created a new draining system since a flood happens each winter down the valleys of our tile roof. This review is regarding their communication. We cannot attest to the quality of their work because we never even got a quote. But 2 stars for actually responding at all and showing up (that's better than most of the junk companies out there right now). I contacted them through email and phone and did not hear from them for over a week, so I texted them and got a response from Darla. A few days later, got a call from Mike who said he needed more information and asked for photos and dimensions, which we emailed. 2 weeks later, they said they needed to see the property in person and asked if they could come THAT day within 3 hours. We work from home, so it was fine that it was so last minute. Mike showed up and went over our design, looked over our property and then asked what our budget was. He said, well our budget would not even cover the concrete work and that he didn't need our business because he's got a ton of other projects lined up. I'll admit, he said it in a nice way and gave us some advice, but WOW! What an awful thing to say to a prospective customer-If you don't need our business, then why did you come? We asked if we could still get a proper quote for all of the things we wanted . He agreed and asked us to text him our wish list. We texted him twice asking for a quote and we never heard from him or Darla again. Business must be going so well right now that he feels he needs to treat customers like they are wasting his time. If he felt the project wasn't for him, he could have just said no when we met in person instead of choosing to waste OUR time by not bothering to respond. We could have upped our budget if wanted to, we could have referred him to friends/family, we could have thought about hiring him for future projects. Unfortunately, he did not think we were worth his time or energy to even give us a proper quote. Hope his business continues to go so well that you can brush off customers like that. We went with Central Valley Awning and Patio who has better reviews, extremely responsive and did not treat us like we were disposable. Edit: in response to the owner reply, Mike asked us what our budget was. We really didn't know how much a pergola would cost, so we said an arbitrary number. That's when mike said it would not even cover the concrete cost and that the ballpark cost would be more like 4x that. We were surprised, but that's not out of our price range. But we never heard from you again. Were we not on a list for follow up or a list of potential clients ? Obviously not. Saying things like, "I don't need your business" and then not bother responding or following up makes it seem like you don't think we could afford your services. Puts a very bad taste in your mouth. I live in Hanford Ca in a new housing development. For the last few months I have been looking into getting a pergola/ patio installed in my backyard. One particular company that has door-to -door sales reps (Energy Star Construction) provided me with an estimate for a 200 sq ft concrete patio with pergola for 16k (He would be able to knock off 3k if I agreed to my property being a showcase; meaning people could come over and check it out or call me about it. No, thank you). The next week, I noticed Mike and his partner working on a patio down the block from me that was fabulous- cable hook-up for their outdoor TV, light scones, and fans. I asked him for contact information, and he said he would stop by for a free estimate later on in the day. When he came by, I explained to him what I was looking for and told him about the estimate from Energy Star Const., and he said he would be able to do the job for $6500. Moreover, he told me that the job that he was working on down the street was a $15,000 job. The estimate he gave me was good for 30 days, and even though I called him after that deadline, he readily agreed to do the job for me. I am very pleased with the work that was done- The color matches beautifully with the color scheme of the house and the City of Hanford inspector said they did a "really great job for [me]."
