They recommended the buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese, and they were some of the best wings I've ever had. I'm still craving them! I highly recommend giving them a try. We all ordered burgers and loved them. The regular and sweet potato fries were excellent--crispy, not overly greasy, and soft in the middle. The sweet potato fries were waffle-cut, which made them especially crunchy and delicious. We also tried the poutine because we're visiting Canada next month and wanted something to compare it to. It may be an acquired taste! The bites with both gravy and cheese were really good, although I wasn't as fond of the fries with only gravy or the ranch-style sauce on top. We always like to sit at the bar and the bartenders (Matt 1 and Matt 2) were friendly and attentative. There's a good selection of beer. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer. It was ok. The service was a bit on the spotty side and carried a rather peculiar vibe, though the kitchen and the bar kept things moving quickly enough for a shorter visit. The real saving grace here lives in the taps and the coolers. Finding a spot in this town that treats classic styles with genuine respect is a rarity. The SLC Pils is incredibly clean with a crisp, snappy noble hop finish that immediately cuts through the midday heat. We leaned into the hoppier side of the list with the Concerning Hops, a beautifully simple and dank West Coast IPA, and the Leisurebrau, which kept the clean drinking streak alive. For something a bit more aromatic, the Blizzard Wizzard held its own, but the standout for me was the Yacht Rock Juice Box. It brings a great tropical, hazy profile that does not fall into that sticky, cloying sweetness trap that ruins so many modern versions of the style. Before heading out, hitting their to-go section is an absolute necessity. They have a killer selection of tall boys ready to go, which is exactly what you want when stocking up for whatever adventure waits just beyond the town limits. We kept the food order simple and focused on the appetizer menu to fuel up after swimming. The Proper Nachos arrived fully loaded with all the standard fixings, including a decent avocado spread and pickled jalapeños. Honestly, they were completely fine, just your textbook, dependable bar nachos that hit the salty craving without reinventing the wheel. The Proper Poutine stepped things up a bit with a rich brown gravy and real cheese curds, layered with an unexpected hit of herbed cream cheese and bacon that added some serious depth to the plate. Dessert, however, turned into a tale of two completely different kitchens. Skip the banana split entirely. They make it with vanilla soft serve instead of traditional hard scoops, which just feels weirdly cheap and results in a melted, sloppy texture before the dish even settles on the table. Truth be told, you need to redirect that attention entirely to the bread pudding. It features chunks of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups baked right into a warm, dense, incredibly rich base, finished with caramel and whipped cream. I ordered the Vienna Lager and a margarita (called the Johnny Utah) along with a Caesar side salad, while my husband ordered a side of fries--and those fries were amazing! If you like crunchy fries, this place nails them. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the space is huge-half of it is set up as a restaurant, while the other side is considered a pub, where you can order drinks without food. Since we were hungry, we ordered food anyway. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the hostess even brought Luna a treat, which made her day. We stayed inside so Luna could cool off before heading to Arches National Park. The only downside for me was the margarita, which was far too sour for my taste. Fun bar area, lots of indoor seating with AC as well as a really nice shaded outdoor area that is dog friendly. Ashley and Enrique working the bar were so nice, we enjoyed chatting with them! They had fun games to play, and we bought a couple "make your own" 4 packs (beers to go were mostly $2.5, solid price). Didn't try the food but it looked tasty, especially the buffalo wings. Free parking lot plus overflow lot on other side of fence. Highly recommend Proper Brewing, we had a blast. Moab Brewery may be right in town but Proper's beers were a bit better imo ;) - it's absolutely worth visiting! read more

The drafts were tasty but needed to be considerably colder considering the outside temperature. We ordered the notorious P.I.G. And the proper poutine with pulled pork. The orders were delivered faster than the brews were and were good despite the fact the poutine was missing the all important cheese curds! I would have pointed it out to the sever but he was not to be seen and I was hungry. When the check came it wasn't the correct one (a couple more tables had come in) pointed it out and got the correct one, then when the slip came back it was for a different table, long story short it took three attempts to pay the tab. This place is awesome. They have so many different styles of beer that are so unique and I really respect that they are experimenting with new things as a brewery. If you want to try any of them you do have to pay 50 cents which is a bummer but it is Utah after all. I loved their juicy IPA and we all decided to get dinner so I had the hipster veggie burger and I genuinely think it was one of the best veggie burger I've ever had. It was crispy and veggie filled and so delicious with the toppings and sauces. The fries were also really good especially with their house made sauces. My friend got the kale caesar which was also amazing, highly recommend. This place is a little outside town but totally worth it and service was great. We were recently in the area and stopped in for dinner after a long day of driving. Proper Brewing and Burger has so many tasty offerings to satisfy most food and drink needs so it was the perfect place! The service great and friendly and very helpful too! We were a little hungry but trying not to over order so we got some chips and queso to start and our orders came out shortly afterwards. We got a Proper style burger, and a Sundance kid burger and both were perfectly done and oh so tasty! We also got a salted caramel porter and a dunkel buck which were both delicious! There was plenty of parking out front but we walked over from our room. The staff were helpful and friendly and adequately came to check on us throughout our visit. If we had more time in the area, we probably would've stopped in several more times! The next time we're in the area we're definitely coming back! We hope others will stop in to check them out too! I came for beer and beer is what I had up at the bar. This is the kind of bar where you'll have a chill fun time alone or with people. Service is friendly and welcoming, with beer knowledge and the ability to chat with customers. Beer selection- long and diverse. This isn't a "we mostly do IPas" or "check out our stouts" kinda place- this is a want a stout, sour, IPA, or some obscure style like a dark lager?. I had 4 very different beers and they were all good, some great, and all world's better than the beer down the road. I had an awesome time and I will be back. They don't have balloon animals but they do have a Johnny Cash impersonator on staff that can pull of a good Sinatra if you have different taste. Love that little perk. read more

It started well with Maddie taking our order and offering suggestions but then a table of 4 entered the part of the bar we were in. After that, both servers in the bar were swooning over that table and ignored us. The male bartender stood with his back to us most times he was in the room and walked out without checking on us. He checked in on us once and I asked for another glass of wine that was never brought to me. The only time the male server came back to our table was to have us pay. My house made vegan black burger was not only the best I've ever eaten, it was perfectly cooked with nice crispy edges. Husband's Moab burger was also fantastic. Ingredients are high quality and the bun almost has a brioche like quality. We also had tomato soup, probably the best we'd ever eaten. All this for far less $ - AND we had a beer flight here but no alcohol at the other spots. We loved it so much, we went back the very next day! We had poutine which did not have cheese curds, a proper burger and a Johnny Utah. They were all just ok. More importantly, this place is RUN DOWN. I don't think anyone from corporate has visited this year. There are tons of tall weeds in the parking lot. The patio is just a mess (see photos). We were excited to try this place. It looked like a fun place to try out after a long drive into town. We ordered the pretzel with jalapeño cheese and hot honey mustard; the Sundance kid burger, and the hipster veggie burger. The beers arrived and were good - that was the only thing that was good. The pretzel arrived quickly but it was cold, served with plain cheese and grainy mustard. There was no salt on the cold, dried out pretzels. Very disappointing, not what the menu described. Not hot honey mustard or jalapeno cheese. Then after 20 minutes the server came by and asked how everything was, we said good, just waiting on our food. He said- be right back with that. Then came back a minute later asking us what we ordered. We told him and he said it would be right out. I get it, they were training new people and maybe he forgot to put in our order. A few minutes later he arrive with our food - not good. Both of our meals were cold. The burger was dry and over done, my veggie patty was burnt. Fries were cold. It was very disappointing. Came on a recommendation from family. The staff was less than personable, environment was awkward, and seating layout was confusing. The beer served was unique in our perspective. The food, worse than the gas station. We have never seen chicken wings so big, that tasted like the frozen Tyson wings at the grocery store. When the woman cleaning tables ask if we wanted a box and we declined she grew angry and disgruntled towards us. Sorry we didn't like your food? She spoke Spanish and so did our friend so she didn't speak to him again. Our friend wound up sick shortly after and 24 hours later still doesn't feel too hot.
