3.5 rating with a half star boost for being a new business. Glad to have the online reviewer community otherwise I may not have heeded the warnings to 1. Make a reservation and 2. Adhere to the dress code. It's not a huge space and most of it is taken up by the lounge style seating so definitely consider a reservation if you plan to stay for any amount of time. Besides the reserved seating there are a limited amount of bar seats and outdoor seating, otherwise standing room only. The decor and vibe is outstanding down to the bathrooms. I will say that the couches are not the most comfortable, being low-backed with bench seats. They're also not super conducive for conversation as your party sits all in a row. The music selection and variety was great, with songs spanning pretty much every decade. I would've probably liked the volume to be a touch lower but I think the noise level of the place in general does get loud so it makes sense they want to feature the music. We were there for happy hour so got to try some of the drinks on the menu. I had the moscow mule which for some reason was very ginger-heavy. It's a good thing I got over my past hatred of ginger because at least this was reasonably palatable. They also were adding a piece of candied ginger to all the drinks. Had a taste of a few others but they weren't to my taste, which is ok--that's why there is diversity in a cocktail menu. In our group the favorite was the Voodoo Child--pina colada vibes if that's your fancy. I have a bone to pick about the "charcuterie board" on their menu. First of all, the QR code that leads you to that item says "spirits list & snacks". As my friend pointed out, there is a singular snack - not snacks - available here, and it is the aforementioned charcuterie board. Perhaps they are planning on adding more food? Only time will tell. I ordered it thinking it would be a shareable size at $30, but not only was it individual sized, it was served inside the cardboard box directly from the makers - La Femme du Fromage. Now, don't get me wrong, I love seeing businesses support other local businesses, but I think if you're going to serve something from a local business it could be featured in it's best light--plating it on an actual board, for example. That might justify the almost 100% markup from just buying it straight from La Femme du Fromage ($16). It would also justify the automatic gratuity and service charge--I'm happy to see service workers get paid well, but to tack on an additional 22% ($6.60) to have someone move a box from a fridge to my table seems exploitative. In other news the charcuterie was delicious but I needed twice the amount of salami and crackers. Lesson learned--do not come here on an empty stomach. read more

We came in on a Tuesday night and it was perfectly casual. The front of the bar is a rolling door so if it's nice outside, it becomes an indoor/outdoor space. The design of the interior is elegant, yet cozy. There a plush couches to sit and listen to the records being spun. The drinks are also incredible and the bartender was a pro when it came to recommendations and execution. At around $15 a drink, it's on-par with the area, but the atmosphere makes it worth it. I have wanted to come here for a while now. I was worried my excitement and expectations would spur my experience. I was completely wrong. The place is fantastic. The drinks are very good and although most are some variation of a common drink they have a few signatures that are not. The servers were attentive and offered up advice and knew the menu well. All drinks were made well. The place is fantastic. From the metal A/C returns to the fake ivy on the ceiling. It touches on decadent without being over the top. The vinyl experience was fantastic. Mostly spinning 80s and 90s vinyl records. If you are looking for old B side music this place doesn't play a lot of it. I also heard that it gets very busy late at night which could hurt the experience. Finally the place is pretty small. The intimate feels were great while not busy but with 100 people in here it would feel crowded and too much. Overall a fantastic place with good, drinks and a great vibe. read more

The short story here is make sure you show up in dress code. I forget with this place used to be, but it's been beautifully redone. I showed up around 5 PM on a Friday, stopping by to check the place out before meeting friends for dinner, and the bouncer was there to have a little talk with me. Proper disappointment. Came for the opening on April 8th, very excited to check the place out with my partner. Unfortunately I was denied entry due to having shorts on despite not hearing anything about a dress code other than 'stylish and sophisticated' My partner was spoke up to the door guy (who wasn't even wearing a tie) saying as such and I told her not to bother, as he had already made up his mind the second we walked up. Huge disappointment, took the wind out of my sails. Plenty of places mention explicitly "no shorts, no jerseys, no ball caps etc". She's in there without me as we speak. Stopped by for a happy hour drink on a Wednesday as it was one of the very few places that wasn't terribly busy. Somehow the bars were still understaffed, there were more hostesses and door guys than bartenders and it took more than 20 min to get 2 standard happy hour drinks. Thank goodness we have a habit of closing tabs between rounds, they add a 5% service fee and 17% automatic gratuity, but of course you need to read carefully to find it because the normal gratuity and total lines are there too. We always leave at least a 20% tip but when establishments force it, that defeats the purpose. The drinks were good, but not special and I can't imagine non happy hour waits and pricing.
