What a friendly shop! My daughter takes dance classes a few doors down and when I was dropping her…read moreoff at the studio just before Christmas, she exclaimed, "I want shoes for Christmas! AND SLIPPERS!" So, I walked right back to the window full of shoes that inspired her wish, and walked through the door. Irving himself, I assume, was there cobbling a pair of shoes (I think he does a lot of shoe and zipper repairs). I wove through the many piles of shoes and other items and found a pair of pink, flowered, light-up sneakers for my daughter as well as a pair of fuzzy puppy slippers that I knew she would love to receive. Fast forward to Christmas: she was thrilled. Wears the sneaks all the time. The puppy slippers were too small. Luckily, Irving let me know during our conversation as I explored his shop that if the slippers didn't fit, I could certainly return them and he will happily get us the right size. When I get back to town, I will do so! Final note: the owner was so friendly and went above and beyond as far as customer service and engagement. He was delightful to chat with as I shopped. Makes me want to keep shopping locally at this tiny, chaotic, and lovely shoe store.

The job was so so.....but whatever, they're work boots. I didn't need them to look great, just have new soles and be strong. Within a month, the heels peeled off. I brought them back in, and he "kinda" fixed them. Not really. All I said to him was, "If I can pull this heel off with my hands, I want a refund for the repair" He said sure, go ahead, try. I pulled the heel off, and he started slamming his fists on the counter and screaming at me! With another customer in the store (sorry to the woman standing behind me who had to witness that) Don't waste your money- unless you want to overpay for a shoddy repair with no guarantees. He has carefully repaired everything I've brought to him & all within a timely manner. Today he repaired my favorite pair of platform heels in 7 minutes. I took it out of there and brought it to Cayouette's Leather Repair. He looked at all the straps that needed reinforcement and quoted me almost half of what the other place gave me. I was happy to get a good deal. A couple of days later I got a text saying my repair was completed. I came by to pick it up and we had to look for the bag. I was looking at the prices on the tag and we couldn't find it. So I looked for my phone number and there it was: more than half the price OFF of what he originally quoted me. Not only did he fix the broken strap but he reinforced ALL of them and charged me so much less than I ever expected. I left with tears of joy and gave him a $7 tip. What a great guy and nice person to do business with. I tell you, he was worth the trip. Now to find all my favorite shoes and keep him busy!!

The guys are all cool - they will BS with you if you feel talkative or you can play on your phone. I got a shine from the younger guy who works there and he did an awesome job. He re-laced my shoes and gave them a new life. I was about to toss these, but will hold on to them for a little while longer. The tailor sits in his car waiting for his next customer, he's creepy as well. Couldn't easily tell me a simple price for hemming a polyester dress, after waiting for him to scrutinize it ( like a scam car repair business), he came out with $85. I paid $40 for the dress, needless to say, I didn't have him hem the dress. I was relieved because honestly, the minute I stepped inside, I desperately wanted to leave but my politeness got in the way. He might be good at tailoring, but I don't care if he's the best tailor in the country, I would never step foot inside that filthy place again. It was by far, the most disgusting business I've ever been in.
