Our party of 6 and 2 children had an exceptional dining experience. The chef took really great care of us! Everything from the appetizers,to the fresh bread with roasted garlic, each of our individual meals, and the three different desserts were fantastic!! A delicious hidden gem in the middle of a ghost town between Dolores, CO and Telluride. My kids, seven and 11 years old, had the salmon and the beef fillet. They devoured it and asked for seconds. Yes... we had to buy them another fillet and another order of salmon. Which they again devoured. I had the salad with blue cheese. The blue cheese is served on the side of the plate and is extra special. Probably the best blue cheese I've ever had. My husband has a Cesar, which he said was good. But his filet with a side of greens, carrot, and mashed potatoes was excellent. The atmosphere, was excellent also. We will be back on our next trip. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining here. Colorado has had health related rules due to covid-19. Congratulations to the staff for so diligently following safety protocol! Thank you! I was able to dine at an outdoor patio table what a great view! So glad I didn't have to eat from a container in my car. The Caesar salad was a hearty portion of uber fresh produce, well seasoned, and perfectly dressed. It was very good! I believe the dressing utilized tuna in lieu of sardines, so if you're looking for that sardine punch... well....life just isn't fair is it? I believe the restaraunt offered a modified entreé menu the day I dined. I selected the thai curry and salmon as the protein. Although the portion size was smaller than I'm used to (or maybe I worked up an appetite fishing all day) It did not disappoint with regard to flavor! On a scale of 5, the spicyness of curry and beans landed between 1.0 -- 1.5 fairly mild. Perfect for my tender palate. The rice, sticky/starchy and glutinous, complimented the curry sauce well. The vegetables were al dente slightly crisp under knife. I briefly considered licking the plate clean had I not had access to the house made garlic bread it may have happened. The chef clearly knows his business. Next trip to the area and I will absolutely stop by. read more

Now called Prospector Grill but still the same outstanding food! Eamonn O'Hara never disappoints. Potato Leek soup was delicious. The organic salmon with soy ginger glaze is out of this world. Finish with pecan pie and you will be in gastronomical heaven. In the past we have tried all the entrees... you can't go wrong. If you are anywhere near Rico, CO, having a meal here is a must. The food is great, if you're not too hungry (small portions), and can get it served before it's cold. The service is HORRIBLE (they had the dishwasher deliver our food!). The soup and appetizers were delicious, but the entrees took forever to arrive (we were there 2 hours) so the food was luke-warm to cold. The prices are very high, especially for such small portions. Atmosphere... drafty & cold. And, the place looks like it's falling apart. And, the chef is grouchy. read more

If this food were in a city, they could easily charge double the prices on everything and still have long waits to be seated. We ordered off smaller portion happy hour menu. We had just finished a day of skiing at telluride and were hungry. I have been coming to this restaurant for 4 years and I have never had a bad bite, nor waivered in my admiration for the quality and taste of all the food lovingly prepared by the chef/owner earmin o,hara. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is flawless. From appetizers to desserts, the taste wow factor comes thru with every dish. Only a 30 min drive from telluride, this humble dining no room in RICO, CO is a sure bet and worth the drive. Entrees are limited in scope, but each one is a winner. Desserts are amazing as well. Been missing Eamonn's cooking since his Dunton days. He's doing as good a job as ever here at the Argentine Grille at the Rico Hotel. Amazing flavour combinations in every dish we tried tonight! Service began with sliced baguette accompanied by butter and a head of garlic, the latter coated in olive oil and roasted to perfection. I tried the soup of the day: a fantastic ginger-carrot combination, with a dollop of cilantro pesto. It was wonderfully rich and smooth with a nice, strong ginger flavour. The nuttiness of the cilantro pesto was an excellent match to fullness of flavours in the soup. For entrees our party of three was well-pleased with the petite fillet (4oz) and legendary burger off the day's menu, and the special of the day, steak and pasta. We sampled each others meals and agreed all three dishes were excellent. The sauce on both the fillet and farfalle pasta-special were exceptional, and we asked for extra bread to wipe our plates clean. The burger truly delivered a legendary taste, made of excellent beef lightly smothered in sauteed onions, cheese and other flavours. It was nicely accompanied by mixed greens for topping (rather than green lettuce) and by well-seasoned cubed potatoes (rather than fries). We're definitely planning repeat visits whenever we're in the area! read more

Very nice visit one rainy summer day in the mountains-- was very glad to see they had a soup du jour to warm me. I started with the creamy tomato soup with a dollop of goat cheese and some baguette slices, while my husband started with their caesar salad. They are not afraid of the spicy garlic at the Argentine Grill, and it was good. I then had a spicy chicken caesar wrap and husband had the pasta of the day -- bowtie in ricotta tomato sauce. Quite a fresh, changing (i like the often-updated) menu, very nice to find things that weren't your tired old fare. It seems the chef here feels free to be creative-- is in charge-- which is nice. read more

Never would have thought I could find this quality of food and service in such a small town (and gluten free options!). Don't let the "rustic" entrance scare you away from amazing dining experience! If you choose to stay in the Rico Hotel, where the Argintine Grill is located, the rooms are comfortable, if not luxurious, but the restaurant is one of the very best I've ever experienced (open Wed-Sun).
