First time, having authentic German cuisine and this place did not let me down. First the service when you walk in is very accommodating we got our table switched over before we even sat with no issues. We take a look at the menu and notice that the pricing even for being downtown was very fair and somewhat surprisingly cheap. Especially once the food came out, they could be charging 50% more and I'd still be happy. The mac & cheese is something I've never tasted before very different but comfortable at the same time I believe three different cheeses are in it. I don't really like waffles or pancakes, but my girlfriend told me to try the potato pancakes and they blew my mind with the chive, sour cream and applesauce sides.. Now we could've just ordered from the appetizer menu since everything seemed perfect from there, but the Brussel sprout appetizer was by far my favorite with poppyseed vinaigrette. We had plenty to take home, and I finished it off the next day still amazed at how well it was put together. I got the chicken schnitzel for my main and it is perfectly prepared and cooked. The breading was fantastic crunchy in every delicious way I even use the applesauce as a dip along with the mushroom sauce that it came with my girlfriend got the Rachel sandwich and she loved her choice as well. Overall, everything we ate from the appetizer menu to main course menu to even the french fries and dipping sauces was phenomenal and again I cannot stress it is enough. The food at Prost Biergarten was delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The atmosphere was also very nice and made us excited for the experience. Unfortunately, the service was very poor. The woman helping us was rude and seemed irritated the entire time we were there. We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable, which really took away from the visit. While walking around downtown, I decided to stop in a German restaurant as they offered outdoor seating. There was an indoor section as well if you preferred that. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and ensured I was taken care of throughout my time in the restaurant. My waitress was knowledgeable in the beer selection and able to help me decided on what beers to do in my flight. Since I was at a German restaurant, I went with the traditional bratwurst and I was not disappointed! It was flavorful and delicious. The only complaint I have is that the fries were too greasy for my liking. Sitting outside on a beautiful day was a highlight of the meal. This is now a favorite of ours when in town. Affordable. Drinks are great. Prices are decent. Food was excellent. Service was top notch. The place can be a bit loud, but it manageable. They had a band playing out back. We chose to sit inside. I would recommend. The fish and chips was excellent. The pretzel's with the mustard they serve was addictive. Ooooo man! Went to a burger joint down the road and was turned away because we had our dogs (we get it). So wandered around the corner and into Prost backyard. They let our dogs hangout and soon more people with dogs showed up. Everyone struck up chatting and it felt like a true bier hall! When I tell you I love German food I can't stress that enough! This was served with sour cream and applesauce, and the applesauce was chunky and sweet. Probably the most delicious applesauce I've ever tried. I came here for dinner with some friends and family so my friends could all meet my fiancé. My friends lived in Germany for about 10 years so I was excited to see what they thought of the food here. This place is delicious and awesome! Situated close to our hotel in Wilmington, Prost has both an outdoor area in the back and an indoor section off the street. We hung out at the bar and loved it. The bartender was awesome and attentive. He convinced me to drink more simply through the power of listening to my preferences and making good suggestions! Ha. They have the best and most uniquely German sangria that I've ever tasted, and we took a picture of the ingredients to try to replicate at home. My husband also really liked his local draft beer and drank several before we set off on an evening walk. We were planning to order a full dinner, but the appetizer we got (3 sausages sampler) was ample and filled us up. So delicious with sauerkraut and Brussels sprout slaw plus mustard and curry ketchup. Try it! We were visiting Wilmington for the weekend and decided to check this place out because of the reviews and I'm glad we did! The fries were perfectly seasoned and had the perfect amount of crispiness. The inside is really cool - there's a ton of seating and it's really open. I had the kielbasa that came with a cheese sauce and it was so good. The only thing that fell a little flat was the service. We had a wonderful meal here for Mother's Day today! The garden area is really beautiful and the restaurant part was, too! We sat at a table right near the window so we could people watch. The decor and lighting were elegant and romantic. We started with the pretzels. The mustard that came with it has the perfect kick of spice and the beer cheese was really good. Pretzels almost tasted like croissants. I had the Rachel sandwich was delicious! I also had the cucumber salad which had a good flavor. My dad had the Reuben and for me- I think it was one of the best ones that I ever had. The German potato salad was awesome! My mom has a salad and it was huge! My husband and I were finally able to stop by Prost for a drink. We had tried to get in when they first opened and it was impossible with the wait out the door. Now we were able to walk in the outdoor patio/Biergarten area and seat ourselves at the bar. I had a peach based drink & my husband a blackberry based drink. Both were DELICIOUS. The peach drink was probably one of my favorite drinks I've had out in a long time. Super refreshing & the perfect summer drink! The prices of the drinks are super affordable, as well as the food! A solid four and a half stars. Prost Biergarten is one of the newest additions to the downtown dining scene and they are coming in strong. I grew up in a German household and was really impressed by the menu offering. For me at least they'd get five stars if they did a few more "traditional" German dishes but what we had was solid. I was impressed with their beer list. They had a robust selection of local brews and more traditional European style beers which was really great. For food, we had the potato pancakes with chive sour cream and homemade applesauce. These were great! Definitely tasted homemade. We also had the spatzle which was really good as well. For dinner my husband and I had the pork schnitzel. The cabbage was delicious, as was the pork. The pork was crispy and flavorful and not at all dry. We also had it Jager style which added a nice touch. The highlight for sure was the apple cake. This was a huge slice of flaky pie crust with warm apple slices. It was amazingly good and was served with vanilla ice cream. Loved the decor and didn't have a chance to go out back into the beer garden but will definitely be back! read more

I love German beer and food, and was very happy to see Prost open up. For starters, love the location. Right on Front Street. Nicely decorated. Inside and outside (covered) seating. Service was good. We made a reservation thru Google, which is the smart move if you are getting dinner here on the weekends. Beer I was a little disappointed. There are no German beers on tap. Prost does have a nice selection of local and regional beers on tap. They also have German and domestic beer in bottles and cans. Food Hit and miss here. I was really wanting some German sausages as an entree, but they don't have it as an entree. You can get German sausages as part of a charcuterie board, or on a sandwich. The board came with three sausages and you can make a meal out of it. It was expensive, which BTW is a theme here. The food is expensive. The smoked pork chop is off the hook. I've been to Prost a handful of times and have been satisfied every time. I loved the bar it used to be so when that closed I was disappointed, but enjoying Prost has eased that disappointment. I've gone for drinks, dates, group meals, and meals with a parent and everyone has left fairly happy. I'm a vegetarian so German food isn't typically the most appealing for me, but Prost has done a good job with their vegetarian offerings. My favorite menu is their pretzel, followed closely by the brussels sprouts. I'm not a mustard person, but their mustard has just the right amount of kick that is addictive. I've gotten one of the vegetarian sandwiches, one of the vegetarian bratwursts, and a handful of other items and all have been good, if not wonderful. They have a varied drink menu, from cocktails to mocktails to beer to wine so everyone leaves happy. Looking forward to my next trip in. read more

The Kielbasa was really good and I definitely recommend getting the spatzle if you're looking for something different. They also have a pretty unique, German inspired draft menu. We also got pretzels as an appetizer and be warned, the mustard is extremely spicy. It tastes like it's mixed with wasabi but it tastes good with very small dips. There are 2 entrances, one on front street and one on the side with a paid private parking lot ($9/hr). The one on the side is where we sat, where half of it has an open roof, an open garage door, communal seating, and a bar. There is also communal sitting in the front of the restaurant. Someone had their dog at the bar so I guess you could bring dogs to the bar. The decor is cute with the lights, plants, and rustic style brick walls. All of the food was great! We started off with potato pancakes (2 pieces, $7), which came with applesauce and fresh chives sour cream. The potatoes were crispy, and I liked the thinly sliced onions in them. The applesauce was delicious, tasted homemade. For entrees we had the traditional bratwurst ($12), which comes with beer mustard, sauerkraut in a pretzel bun, housemade seasoned chips on the side and the Pork schnitzel ($16, also has a chicken option), which came with braised cabbage with caraway seeds, housemade spatzle, served with dill sour cream and lemon slices. The pork schnitzel was thin and crispy, breaded perfectly. For dessert, we tried the German blueberry cake ($8) and apples strudel ($10). The cake was soft, moist, not super sweet. I loved the crumble topping. The apple strudel was served room temperature, I would've preferred it warm, but it was still tasty with the vanilla bean ice cream. Didn't try the mixed drinks, but it's cool they had drinks made with aquafaba (the hoff and au weidersen kaffe). The bartenders Andrew and Hailey were great serving us. They have a nice selection of items to choose from. The Roasted Mushroom Soup served with crème fraishe called out to me. It was a coolish day , a good day for soup. And the Traditional Bratwurst, comes with haus beer mustard and kraut comes on a pretzel bun ,with haus made chips or french fries. I opted for no mustard and the chips. A Beet Salad , roasted beets , goat cheese, arugula and dijon vin was ordered. While we waited several patrons came in and went to the patio. Our food came out fairly fast . The mushroom soup came out first . It was warm, seasoned well , plenty of firm , not soggy mushrooms. On top it had slivered green onions, I believe parsley and crispy onion. The soup was perfect for the day. Then the main lunch arrived.The bratwurst was warm and flavorful, however a little over done. The chips were amazing - perfectly seasoned, and a huge pile of them. The beet salad looked wonderful, the cooked beets were hidden in the arugula. The shaved beets had crunch and the cooked beets were tender and not overcooked. The arugula with the vinaigrette, I found to be very pleasant. However my lunch companion felt it was too salty. I was pleasantly surprised during my visit to Prost. It is a Biergarten however they have an excellent culinary menu with excellent happy hour deals and daily specials. Their pretzels and beer cheese are outstanding, but don't sleep on their homemade mustard, it is spicy and packs a punch. The brat was served on a pretzel bun and topped with kraut and their homemade mustard. As a happy hour special it was $10 and for the quality it was a heck of a deal. Came here on a Sunday for brunch! We were able to find parking across the street and it is free on Sundays which is nice! Workers were nice. My friend and I decided to eat outside on the patio because it was a nice day outside. The patio is so cute with a really nice atmosphere. Lots of nice plants and decor. We split the pretzel. It was different than a most pretzels with a crispy outside and the beer cheese was very good. I then got a Kielbasa that came with cheese and peppers and onions. I really enjoyed it. The schnitzel & spatzle was right one, but the reb cabbage was a complete fail ... like they forgot the vinegar. Worst reb cabbage I have ever been served.
