From the moment I called to schedule to the moment of bringing my car home, Protech handled everything extremely professionally; they got me an appointment efficiently and got my car finished quickly with awareness that it's my only vehicle. As someone who is totally clueless about cars, they were honest about what was essential versus non essential to repair so I could stay within budget and they answered all of my many questions thoughtfully, thoroughly, and with kindness. Protech mechanics made sure they didn't miss anything through their detailed inspection and diagnostics. They did not try to pull one over on me and upsell like many mechanic shops do. The cost was completely reasonable given the cost of parts and time for repairs. Additionally, they were not just going through the motions of their job, they really went the extra mile (pun intended lol) picking me up so I didn't have to walk to the shop to make my payment and get my vehicle. They go above and beyond for their customers. Everything that needed repaired with my car was repaired, I got to ride with the mechanic to ensure it was fixed and ask any last questions, and overall could not be more satisfied with this experience. took the car to Protec for a replacement of a timing belt & water pump standard maintenance. They had it for 2 days and when I got it back there was a heavy vibration and howling sound. their 90 day warranty was not honored as they said for another nearly 1,000 which was already payed the first time. I took the odometer reading before then after,as there was 12 miles they put on. I paid 2,850 to have it done right by a car dealer. $3,850 total. Motor mount was left loose,engine was drifting which caused axle breakage. read more

This shop has been nothing but a nightmare. I've had to bring my Jeep back six times, spent over $8,000, and it's still not fixed. Every single time I come in, I'm told something new is wrong, yet the original issue is never resolved. I've had it diagnosed three different times, and each time I get a different story from them. At this point, it feels like I'm being strung along and taken advantage of. The lack of accountability and quality here is unbelievable. My Jeep still doesn't run right, and I'm out thousands of dollars with nothing to show for it. If you're thinking about trusting this shop with your vehicle, do yourself a favor and don't. Save your time, your money, and your sanity -- go anywhere else. update - I spoke with the owner of the shop Roy about the frustrations I've been having with the quality of work they've done on my vehicle. They were supposed to guarantee the repairs, but my car is still having the same issues. I've had to keep bringing it back, and instead of taking accountability, the owner tried to gaslight me, dismiss my concerns, and take zero responsibility for the shop or the work performed. read more

Don't ever take your vehicles to this place they won't fix it right the first time and they'll keep charging you every single time you bring your freaking vehicle in and then they'll try to make it out that it's your fault that your vehicle is not fixed. I spent a lot of money here and had nothing but problems and they always find a way to make an excuse on that. There's no way it was their bad. read more

Major props to Roy and Josh and the folks at Protech. My wife and I were heading up to Baker Lake when my 1-ton Ford, laden with a truck camper and pulling a boat, became possessed by demons and lost power. We limped back down the mountain and Mr. Google directed us, at darn near 5 p.m. to ProTech. Roy and Josh (the diesel guy) stayed late and met us. He couldn't deal with then, but sent us to River Front Park which was pristine, just wow (Hi Myrna! The hostest with the mostest!) and told us to be at the shop when it opened without the camper and the boat. No prob. Obviously, they were buried in work, but they worked us in, replaced the fuel filters, ran the truck to make sure what they said would work would work and off we went at an honest price. They couldn't finish what they started, even after almost a year. They started off sounding very positive about how my project would be "no problem," but in the end, nearly a year later, I had to get a tow truck and move my truck to a new shop. While they were able to fix a few issues, the truck left their shop with a few new issues that weren't present when it was first brought in. They got off to a good start and were helpful during the first couple of months, but then a mechanic left (the owner told me that he and the mechanic had a dispute) and my project got ignored for several months. Every time I called to check on the progress I was told that no one had looked at the truck and that there was no plan to work on it. When I showed up at the shop to find out what was going on, the owner made excuses about how difficult my project was and that he was too busy to get to it. He agreed to a delivery date in a few months and we shook hands on it. When the agreed upon time came, the truck hadn't been touched and he told me that he didn't have time to deal with it. When I showed up with a tow truck a few weeks later, he asked me how my day was going (really) and when I calmly replied that I sure didn't like having to pick up my truck with a tow, he literally just turned his back on me and walked away without saying a word. A word of advice when dealing with this or any shop- get a written, detailed estimate of work that includes what repairs need to be done on the vehicle and a completion date. Of course there will be unforeseen issues with vehicles during the repair process, but have a solid starting point and set expectations up front. As for restorations, make sure they deliver a complete written assessment of the vehicle and project plan. Don't let them string you along with good intentions, but no work. There had been projects at Protech that had been sitting in the garage for two years, according to the owner. Plan accordingly. read more

I was unexpectedly stranded in Sedro Woolley with engine trouble, limped into this auto repair at 3pm on a Friday afternoon. They were able to run a diagnostic on my 12 year old car, determine the problem, and with a little luck finding the part locally, had me back on the road before 5pm. Friendly, knowledgeable, and affordable; I wish I lived in Sedro Woolley so I could continue to have my car serviced there! read more

We took our truck in today to get an estimate and diagnostics. I wanted a second and maybe even third opinion, and they charged us for half hour labor as we were on our way out the door. It definately made our decision for us considering I have NEVER experienced this from any work I've had done, especially if they wanted the transmission job we needed that would cost us "Their BALL PARK FIGURE" of over $3000. My dad is a retired mechanic and he maintained his business for 30 years because he put the customer first and didn't nickel and dime them. ProTech won't get our "Ballpark" $3000, we went to Burlington instead where we got a diagnostic for free, and a lesser quote "with a cap", even including the heavy duty parts, with a better guarantee. Not the local small business that we will paying our hard earned dollars to. read more

I am dying to find a trustworthy and reliable mechanic in Sedro-Woolley, so I went out on a limb and tried ProTech to work on my car. I liked that they quoted me over $100 less than another mechanic in town, but I had to wait a week and a half until they had an opening to work on my car. I needed the crankshaft replaced in my car and was satisfied (enough) with the $427 quote. They finished the job earlier than I expected when I got a call at work saying the car was ready to be picked up. The woman I talked with on the phone was nice enough but didn't have anything to say about the car, part or labor that was performed. I much prefer being able to talk to the person who works on my car. I drove the car less than a mile back to my house and the crankshaft problems were gone. I am getting the car ready to sell so I drove it around town a few days later and discovered the most horrific screeching sound when the A/C is turned on. After lots of research I have learned that the crankshaft seal is leaking oil onto the A/C belt. Pretty clear evidence that a sloppy job on their part has created a new problem for my car. I was taking a chance by going to ProTech. My fiancee had them replace his catalytic converter last year and when he got his car back both headlights were burned out. The lights were working like normal when he brought the car in. He brought the car back for them to fix and they charged him for parts and labor to replace the bulbs. I will be calling them when they open in the morning to see if they will fix the problem that their mechanics/techs created. I am hoping to be surprised by their customer service but I am not expecting great news. To sum it up, the two experiences I know of with this auto shop have BOTH led to further problems and charges. I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
