I joined ADT a few months ago and I had to have a technician come out and replace my detector in the attic because it fell off. The next day I set my alarm to leave my house and it went off. I called last night we tested it they don't know what's wrong with it so I had a virtual call today from 1230 to 1. It is now 1:35 PM, I have not yet heard from the technician. I called to find out what is going on because I have to leave and I won't be back. This is not my fault! It is ADT's fault that My Alarm is not able to be set. They needed to call me at the regular time so now I have to freaking sit here and wait. I've never experience anything like this and I have so many bad reviews on this company and I'm believing every single one of them. This is their fault they should be on top of my appointment. read more

AVOID! If there is one company that deserves to go out of business it is ADT. Seriously, avoid signing up with them no matter how often they call you, text you, email you or show up at your front door. Here is what they don't tell you even if you have a premium service: 1. "Dispatching police" means they only push a button to send the police. They do not follow up after that or confirm IF the police showed up. So when you are out of town, such as I was for 2 different break-ins, they will not tell you the break-in status of the house. Police may not even show up as they did in my case since I received no call from Austin Police when my door was left wide open by someone that entered the house thru a window. 2. The audible alarm goes off for only 4 minutes before going silent. Again, ADT will never follow up as to why the alarm has not been shut off. You are 100% responsible for understanding what happened even if you are out of town for several days and leave the alarm on until you or someone you know can go to the house to see what's going on. 3. ADT sensors and mobile app require constant updates and repairs. ADT will try to charge you for the repairs even when the equipment is faulty or improperly installed. 4. Your home/renters insurance covers the loss of personal items. ADT will not reimburse for lost items if your insurance pays for it. ADT Theft Protection Guarantee is just marketing and simply redundant. 5. ADT hold times are an hour for anything other than setting up a new service. 6. Contract terms are very broad and you cannot get out of the contract even if the equipment doesn't work and they have provided no security whatsoever. 7. And then there are all those class action lawsuits that are self-explanatory. read more

20 year customer in Austin, Texas area. Impossible to stop auto draft monthly charges after terminating service . ADT continues to auto bill my credit card 3 months after the service was cancelled. I have spent hours on the phone on hold and with various incompetent account managers. They refuse to stop the charges or acknowledge the account termination. I am insulted by the lack of integrity and total disrespect. This is a scam. It is now affecting my credit score. ADT representatives refused to let me speak with a supervisor, but only transansfer my calls from one agent to the next where I had to repeat my account information and complaint over and over again. I do not recommend ADT. They have lied to me and apparently have no motivation whatsoever to resolve my issue. Horrible customer service. Outsourced to third world country representatives. Complete disregard to comply with my request to cancel service and charges. read more

I have a security system from ADT it is horrible. It's called Eagle Eye, and it is terribly inconsistent, continually service goes in and out. They have opened up many repair tickets and it never gets fixed properly. The service technician just told me that there's really only one person in the entire city that is trained on Eagle Eye, they do not have proper support set up. The gentleman who came and installed the system was intelligent, professional and helpful. Nobody else was. I had an extremely frustrating issue with them billing the wrong card and they were unable you fix it. I had to go to ADT and they were eventually able to help me. I gave them over a week and called them 4 times to try and resolve my issue but they were unable to. I will not be using them again. Btw- Protect your home is NOT ADT. They are a company contacted out and they are allowed to install systems from ADT. The system I got looks out of date compared to what's on ADT's site. Additionally, They did NOT have a 6 month refund period. They only offer three days, which is 1/2% what ADT offers. read more

Similar to most negative reviews on this site. We signed up for their system that included a doorbell camera and monitoring system. Within the first 6 months of service we had 4 separate issues with the doorbell camera resulting in outages ranging from a few days to a few weeks. When calling to cancel, since the doorbell camera was a key to our decision, they refused to budge and remained committed to charging us 75% of the rest of our 3 year contract. Upon my insistence that they have not held up their side of the contract, the account manager insisted that they would need 3-4 visits on the exact same issue AND for the technician to deem the problem unsolvable. Long story short, its my fault for trusting this company (admittedly I thought it was ADT originally) and signing a 3 year contract. read more

Don't use ADT. It's a total scam. They suck. You will pay lots of hidden fees and get charged for things that they say are covered when you sign up. I've been with them 2 years and can't get faulty service restored without paying a bunch of money for a technician to come out. I spoke to a manager and they won't do a courtesy call. Beware! Do NOT sign up with ADT!!! I had a similar experience as some of the reviews I am reading. Initially - getting service set up - they were great. It's after the service is installed and they have you on a recurring payment when the customer service totally drops off. My advice - go with another company. Inaccurate monthly charge quote. Difficult billing third party to deal with--"Defenders". Harassing phone calls if they don't get their payment on time. More harassing phone calls only to find out ADT isn't even receiving my payments. HUGE mistake to go with this company. Also: RIDICULOUS CONTRACT. They should offer a one year contract. read more

We have been with ADT for 23 year-end paid out a lot of money, but the best they can do to come out and replace a malfunctioning smoke/fire detector is one week. Their sensors are wireless which creates false signals and our former wired sensors they originally installed were better. ADT's Wireless sensors look like they were designed in the 1970s- butt ugly warehouse look in a nice home. Our First Alert Onelink wired sensors I installed are much more attractive, functional and versatile. I hope we do not have a fire in the meantime in that area of the house... read more

Their tactics are familiar to most Used Car Salesmen. The Sales Dude on the phone doled out discounts like candy from a Piñata, but when the installer showed up, their prices went through the roof essentially wiping out all of my Discount Dreams. I already had a nearly new ADT system installed in the house, but they claimed I had to buy another new system. I trimmed down the initial quote to something reasonable and was able to name my billing date. That date was in my contract, the contract that I expect ADT to have. Nope. They don't have a copy of the contract that states the billing date, so they bill whenever the fug they want. Now, I'm stuck with a 3 Year Contract. They got me this time, but I wont let it happen a second time. I will NEVER do business with these Clowns ever again. Absolutely Pathetic!!! read more

ADT is a scam, they will make you sign a new contract, 3 years, every time you move and will make you pay the installation/installment even if you have moved. Beware do not sign any contracts without reading frst. The agent, Lance Vandegrift ADT Security Corporate 512.784.821, told us we could do a year contract and then would follow up with us after the year was up, since we were bulding. He did contact us after the year and we aggreed to continue with ADT not knowing that we had signed a 3 year contract and again signed a 3 year contract for the new address. ADT security is not security at all. I have had them for the year because I thought my contract was a year long but it's not. I can't cancel it till 2021. I have had issues with them since my grace period expired. Right after my cameras kept disappearing from the app. Which meant they weren't recording. So when I needed them to protect my house it didn't. I had no video of the break in that happened. Then when I wanted to cancel because this happened 4 times before they still wouldn't do anything. Then I asked what they cover when I had the break in and I was told nothing. Today a year later they are trying to say that they cover 500 of my deductible. They never said anything about that to me before. I paid $3k for the system and I pay $70.94 a month and to cancel I have to pay a thousand dollars.....are they kidding me really. My wife is fighting cancer and we just got home from her 6th surgery and I was trying to take care of this because I want her to feel safe in our home. I don't feel safe at all. I'm always triple checking everything from my windows, locks and trucks. Today I spoke with Dewan and he was rude. He refused to let me speak to his supervisor. Saying he was the account manager and there was no one above him. He told me not to advice him of anything that all he had to do was hang up on me. I explained that I was part of the sheriff department and I know everyone has some one higher. He finally told me that Latara was the department manager but refused to let me talk to her. Please don't use this company. They don't care about us. read more

Why can't it go below 1 star? The Protect Your Home people came out an disconnected a working system that the previous home owners had, and it has never worked. We get false alarms waking us up at night. The repair technician didn't fix the problem but wants us to pay for wireless monitors that have fewer problems, but cost more. We never signed up for a more expensive system and the one we signed up for never worked, but they still want to charge me hundreds of dollars to turn off their system. It's hard to imagine anyone could be worse than protect your home. You can't judge a company by a few good experiences. How they deal with problems is what tells you who you should use, and Protect Your Home is one of the worst companies I've ever had the displeasure of being robbed by. read more

The servicing tech was very professional and extremely knowledgeable with my ADT system. I'm a retired federal fire safety inspector and trainer for the military so I have working knowledge of these types systems'. My family has practiced the use of the new system and the Travis County permit as been ordered. I owned a ADT system in the past when we owned our first home in 2003. I'm impressed with the updates and upgrades and use of WIFI. I've never been comfortable with hard-wired phone line systems as they can be disconnected from the outside. We received an ad for ADT in the mail, through "Protect your home" and because we knew we could save money on our home insurance, we decided to give it a try. After speaking with their rep on the phone regarding what was included in their promotional offer, I set up a time to have their install person some to our house. This is our 1st home, and 1st experience with a security system. What the rep on the phone told was included did not entirely match what the install rep said was included in our equipment offer, plus there was an additional fee to set up. Ok, not much difference in price in the equipment we were quoted vs. the equipment required to build an effective, basic security system, I can roll with that, but then theres sales pressure to buy a $5200 security system . NOPE. Both our telephone rep and install rep said that we would receive a $100 gift card in the mail, that essentially reimburses you for your initial set up fee (which doesnt). No mention was made from either one that there is a process involved in getting it, just your gift card will come to you in the mail in 4-6 weeks. Ok. System seems to work fine, havent been broken into to really test it but lets hope we never are. 8 weeks later, no gift card. Call customer service-that girl said "Oh yes. Im sure I know what happened. We get these calls all the time. You have to fill out a form and wait 6-8 weeks for your card to come in the mail." ANOTHER 6-8 weeks. So I go to the website to get the form, and find out I have to pay $4.95 by cashiers check or money order in order to get the $100. What a pain in the butt. Its $100. Not a lot to some, but we just bought a house. $100 would come in handy. Who couldnt use $100? Oh wait, Its only $95 dollars. plus a trip to the bank to get a cashiers check or money order. I feel like they just hope that you'll either forget about the gift card, or decide its too much of a pain to get it and theyll never have to pay it out. If I had it to do over, I probably wouldnt just because its been too much of say one thing, do another. Wouldnt recommend it to anyone I know. Unless maybe I didnt like them. read more

This company runs one of the biggest scams. If ever there was a case for being able to give a negative number of stars, this is it. Too bad you won't know you are dealing with them until it's too late since the sales person will represent himself to be an ADT employee. If you call about setting up ADT service, be sure to ask who you are really contracting with. If they promise you anything, get it in writing in specific terms and details. Ask to see all documents and read all fine print before you ever agree to anything. Know that whatever the sales rep promises you, the person installing your system will tell you is not possible. BE AWARE THAT EVEN WHEN THE SALES REP TELLS YOU THERE IS NO CONTRACT, IN FACT THERE IS A CONTRACT, FOR 3 YEARS, AND YOU WILL PAY A MASSIVE PENALTY IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL. read more
