The front desk staff was not helpful towards answering questions every time I would call. The front desk was not only unfriendly but they would talk to me in a cold and mean manner. My provider refused to answer my direct questions on the portal and via phone calls when I called every day. Instead, she billed me for "researching". When all I asked for was a referral- I did all the research myself. Not only did I feel like my care was dismissed but I was neglected and billed extra after messaging in the portal which I was not informed about.

Went there for two years - during that time, after providing extensive information about my medical…read morehistory, they repeatedly failed to have major conditions logged in my records, which led to poor and inadequate care, gaslighting, and frustration. They often didn't fully listen, assuming they knew what I would say and not really hearing me or addressing my concerns. Then they started charging for questions or follow up communication through the portal - that was the final straw. They made the excuse that "other places are doing that too" and "you probably didn't realize since it was in the fine print on a form we had you sign." I'll take my business elsewhere.

My most recent trips I worked with Doctor Elizabath Clawson and she has spoiled the experience for me. I likely will not be returning again. I went in, knowing what was wrong with me and looking for a urinalysis to confirm so I could be medicated. Before the testing was even complete the Doctor, rather matter of fact, diagnosed me with two things that were completely outlandish. Once the 1st round of testing came back she was confirmed to be wrong. Then she again diagnosed me with another issue that was outlandish and urged me to go to the ER. Days later testing came back and what I knew to be the issue was the issue. If I hadn't met her one time previously and learned how she behaved I would have been scared to death and in tears. A doctor is supposed to be supportive with the goal of achieving care rather than the goal of sparking fear and diagnosing with no solid facts or evidence. She told me I was pregnant before a test was even complete. I was not pregnant and that shouldn't be the go to prognosis when a woman is in pain.

I was forced to wait six or seven weeks for an initial eval. I realize schedules fill, and the world doesn't revolve around me; but that was ridiculous. The front desk staff's attitude was callous. I asked to be put on a waiting list for cancellations. This was refused. Hence, a 4-star review instead of 5. Final Note: There's an old saying... a really good doctor usually has pretty bad front office staff. Try to over look the front desk because Dr. Engler and Benson are worth it.

My doctor had me get a…read morecolonoscopy to find the source of my problem, which he said came out clear (no signs of), only for all those issues to be true. I believe my doctor rushed my colonoscopy and due to my age did not take my issues seriously. After 3 appointments, no doctor looked at the food diary I kept, yet they said the issue was likely diet related. Told me to do low FODMAP which hasn't helped, 1.5 years later. They also didn't tell me the correct time my colonoscopy would be done, so I had to wait an hour after with all the nurses pestering me about when my ride was coming, when it came at the time they told me to schedule it for. I did not get a physical exam from my doctor until after this procedure, which was one of the most painful experiences of my life (and I've had a fallopian tube burst), and left me in a worse condition than when I arrived. With each visit, the doctor and nurse's bedside manner became more dismissive and hostile. It felt like me asking for the exam, since the procedure that was meant to give a very clear picture on what the issue is was not done thoroughly, was meant to hurt me and deter me from seeking their help. That was the last time their office saw me. After reaching out about a medication they prescribed worsening my condition, they did not offer to see me again and referred me to a different specialist.

The nurse receptionist was very pleasant, took husband's details, and took him back immediately. I was invited to go with him, which I most assuredly wanted to do, and see him get a needle in the arm. She examined the puncture wound, after taking all of his vitals. She was very fast and efficient. I expected to have to wait for a doctor to come in, which is kind of standard in any doctor's office, in my experience. The doctor was there within a few minutes, and he had a good sense of humour, which I liked. He told husband to rest the foot, and keep his weight off it. ( "that ain't happening" I muttered under my breath) He also said that tetanus isn't in Alaska. I found that curious, and I googled it. So whilst it's rarer up here, in my opinion, I would venture forth that if anyone was gonna get it, my husband would be the one. He's quite an unlucky fella. Anyway, the tetanus booster shot was prescribed, and the doctor left the room. Seconds later, the nurse came back in, and administered the shot, and put a bandaid over the puncture wound. No antibiotics were prescribed at this stage, however she said they'd be in touch in two days to make sure it was healing well, and to contact them should any signs of infection become apparent. We were in and out within 20 minutes. Now yes, this is a smaller office, and I personally prefer it, due to how speedily we were seen. I had a wait of over 2 hours when going to the one where REI used to be. That one is large, with lots of receptionists, and we had to wait in the car, till we were called into the building for an examination. I prefer this small office approach.

Friendly front desk got me started. After filling out forms and a reasonable wait time I was seen by a very capable and knowledgeable nurse practitioner. She gave me the Rx and also lots of important information about the drug and Covid. Rx was sent promptly to the pharmacy.

Because the ACTUAL bill sent to my insurance was $10,500, I ended up owing another $300. I don't mind paying the additional $300, but I believe this shows what's wrong with our insurance system in the US. When an estimate of charges is given and then the insurance company is charged almost double, its a scam!
