#THANKYOUTHURSDAY…read more Urgent Care is never the spot you want to be at, but when you need it, it's frustrating when you're not able to get in. This was the case for me this week - my son came down with a nasty cough and was complaining of ear pain, so I wanted to get him in and make sure we weren't dealing with anything serious. The Point Ruston Indigo was the ONLY place that was close-ish by that had same day appointments and easy online booking. Thaaaank gooodnessss. This was our first time to this particular urgent care, and I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and updated it is! I know a lot of the businesses at Ruston are newer, and this spot is no exception. All of the staff was really nice. The front desk woman was nice and got us back as quickly as she could, and the nurse/medical assistant who we dealt with for the first half of our appointment was so great with my son. He had to get the nasal swab which is never fun, but she was awesome with him and was able to get it done with next to no tears. The actual provider was also really nice and got us out with our prescription for antibiotics quickly. When we left I got a call from them that we had left my daughter's binky behind (which was yet to be discovered) which I thought was so kind of them! I know some kids are very attached to a certain type of binky, so that could've been catastrophic. Thank you to this office for providing the community with great and efficient care!

X-ray specialist didn't know how to get an accurate X-ray, and then upon leaving were told we would be shown to the door. We were not rude, impatient or loud. Reception staff was kind is the only nice thing I can say about the service we received.

Saw Joseph Guthrie he was very nice, and I thank him for being efficient! Only downfall is that parking lot, the Starbucks drive thru line is right in front of the parking. So I had to wait for the line to move so I could back out, but nothing having to do with how amazing Indigo is! Starbucks needs a new location! Thank you for being awesome!

That said, I give this place 2.5 stars. I have been there a few times and left neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. However, my last experience left me very dissatisfied. I had been sick for about 9-10 days before I determined that I wasn't going to get better. I really try and fight the urge to go to an Urgent Care at this time of year during... cold and flu season. Indigo is close so I went on their site, and I was #21 in line. Set up a virtual session this time, big mistake. The provider was nice, I shared my history with her, and she gave referrals to address my root cause issues. That said, my immediate symptoms were not treated. Of course, there would be no blood draws, no sampling of any bios. I told her what previous fixes worked for my symptoms; those, being antibiotics (BTW I am 63, what death do I need to wait out before it's determined, now he needs antibiotics) or steroid treatments. I had a cough, didn't need treatment and said don't prescribe Benzonatate. I have a surplus of it and take over the counter syrups when ill. It was prescribed anyway and, in a rush, paid for it at CVS because there was another scrip. Since I was feeling no better 6 days later, I appealed to the clinic to reconsider treating me in the ways I suggested. I did not want to have to wade through a cadre of sick people, for hours, only to set up another expensive visit and spend additional hours at a walk in. I AM CERTAINLY NOT ABOVE the usual pecking order of urgent treatment, but this is, IMO, sub-par follow through.

TLDR: My established medications were halved without notice by a doctor because I'm "a young…read morefemale." -- I was seeing Kim (ARNP) for over a year, and she retired. My care was transferred to Dr. Ahmad. Despite assurances that everything would be transferred seamlessly and my established treatment plans would be maintained as is, Dr. Ahmad chose to reduce the dosage of my primary source of pain relief by half. Without telling me. No one contacted me to inform me of this, and I would not have even known this change happened if I had not looked at my bottle to make sure I received the correct medication through the mail. Upon requesting an explanation, I was told that the doctor FELT my dosage was "a very high dose for a young female" and admitted to not knowing anything about my case. Yelp is preventing me from sharing the MyChart screenshots... here's a direct copy and paste of the messages: Me: 11:28 AM I'd like to know why my Celebrex was refilled at half strength. I was receiving 200 mg twice a day, and was reduced without notice to 100mg. This is not going to be sufficient for my needs, and with my history of medical mistreatment... this is incredibly triggering and anxiety inducing for me. Jowairiyya S. Ahmad, MD: 2:57 PM Your Provider Ms. Williams have left the practice She no longer works with Providence You need to establish care with new rheumatologist Dr. Ahmad Dr Ahmad felt it was a very high dose for a young female like you I would not know your issues until I see you in the office and assess you If you are taking the Humira than your NSAID requirement need to reduce We can discuss on the appointment coming up Thank you

Guess what? Those providers were not actually accepting new patients. What about providers at one of the two Olympia clinics run by Providence? The earliest appointment available for a new patient annual exam offered to me in my phone call (which I made after it became clear that the website wouldn't enable me to complete this task) was just under five months out. I'm not sure why they would be so profoundly incapable of serving this need, and it is fun to speculate, but the bottom line is that attempting to do this with Providence is apparently not possible in Olympia.
