This week I went in to get a car loan to finance a car as well as open up my first credit union account. Adrian Lara was the open bank teller; we went into his office and all the paperwork was very straightforward, especially so after Adrian explained things. He let me ask questions at any time and made the whole process feel not only professional but very calm. We were able to process all the paperwork in a timely manner while talking about life, too and by the end of the day I left the lot with the car I had wanted. I've banked at Chase for so many years and I've never had an interaction that felt like the person actually cared about my circumstances and concerns. Horrific experience. It seems like you need a platinum black American express card to open an account with this bank. Despite serving in the military honorably and already having credit union accounts previously was denied to open an account due to a low credit score. Mind you...there was no attempt to open a credit card nor inquiry for a loan (auto or otherwise). I am gainfully employed and was never asked if I had a full time job nor a pay statement. Unacceptable to not even inquire about that. Other banks specifically asked for that information. If you are opening a simple checking or savings account shouldn't that be what is needed?!? I get the check systems check but the credit score!?! Is this a bank for the wealthy?!?! Was never provided an acceptable explanation as well. Highly not recommended. read more

I have always had positive experiences at this branch. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They greet you and make sure you are satisfied when your transaction is over. When they come acquainted with you, they even make some friendly banter. I also like that they have to buzz you in. It makes the branch feel a little safer and more secure. The tellers are also really good about buzzing folks in quickly so you don't have to wait outside. Sometimes there is a long wait, especially at the beginning of the month when folks need rent checks or on Fridays when folks get paid. I don't usually mind the wait though because they have air conditioning. They also have a few cushioned arm chairs to sit in. read more

I have used Provident C union for over 45 years but the Hayward branch has become a horrid location. The managerz, Mr. Lal, is the least customer friendly employee I have ever met. I was being scammed by phone as I answered a call that said it was from Provident omiting credit union attached to the number. The call dropped. I could not get anyone to answer at the Hayward branch to check the call. . Nothinng! I was being scammed by a number that said Provident. No they were scammers. I answered spoke then call dropped. THEY CALLED ME BACK PLAYING THE ON HOLD MUSIC. When I got through to Hayward they closed all of my accounts. i was told that I had to come in to see them in personally . I am disabled. Still had to come in. I finally did. Only 2 tellers and MR Lal was busy. I had a timed appointment Lal told me I was LATE and said he had several of his GIRLS out on maternity leave and could only give me a few minutes. . "GIRLS"? having babes? This misogynist said "Girls" but meant Women, I hope.! Plan ahead. Put a message on answeing messafe saying they will call you back or ask you to call another branch. I was there for 1.5 hours and no people showed up to see him, other than a young teller man who could not solve a simple question himself. I corrected Lal abiut the trrm Girls twice but it was a waste effort. Still HIS GIRLS, Blaming women IS easy Just reopen my accounts, I will deal with It. NO!!! HE had to change EVERY number on my large collection of savings, checking, money markets, etc each. Each served a separate purposes but he wanted to push them together. No! Each had a nick name on them . Wpuld you please put the nick name back onto each new account number? He said he would but did not. He could not understand why I could not keep the totals straight with nick names. Then he told me all old info was Gone, when I had my accounts closed. No, he closed them. After 2 weeks of trying to figute which was which as many had the same totals. which was which and pay bills. I called the Redwood acity office and told the young man my issue. Young man on the phone clarifies it in under 2minute. They were not lost or non retreveable. They were , right there. He even sent me the corrections of nick names via email. What a joke Lal is! It is difficult to even understand the speach due to thick accents and sd oft speach of a few of his GIRLS anyway. The Glass between patrons and tellers wearing surgical masks doublly make it difyicult to understand what is said if you have any problems hearing. Go get flu shots and Covid shots for goodness sakes There must be someone in this banking system who l could do a much better job of being manager in my local office. He is a waste. Not a professional. This is not the first time I have had to deal with him before always poor but this was the worst. He is ruining this branch. If you knew your staff would be short due to maternity leaves up coming, BORROW A FEW FROM ANOTHER BRANCHes . PLAN AHEAD. IF I could have gotten through to my branch ans asked if th er y were trying to speak to me I would not have gotten scammed. I will not call the Hayward branch for help again. Get a non sloppy, customer based professoonaal personal to be the manager or I am gone to another branch or bank. I am a second generation customer generation user. My parents belonged to this credit unuon way back when it was called City and County Employees Credit Union. I even have a few pencils with that written on them as proof.
