From the day we opened our account, Cherry, the bank manager, has always been so helpful and really goes out of her way to help us with anything we need. She's always so kind and makes everything feel easy and stress free. RUN as FAST and FAR AWAY as you can! After 2 years, The credit card service is a sham, shady big-dis-service. It took 3 weeks to receive replacement card and 11 calls. It took more than 6 weeks and 20 calls, 4 branch visits and still have NOT getting credit back to me. I was super disappointed that they may call back but requested 6 workers about provisional credit back and it is 5 minutes work yet it took 5 weeks and still NO ONE is working or responsible. Their ghost Kevin McCall - VP never returned calls and hiding behind his ghosting actions. You don't get any service but consume more days / months to get 5 minutes job done! I can't thank Cherry enough for all the help she gave my daughter and me! Branch manager named Cherry Do, was very rude and unprofessional. Shame on her and I am disgusted with her behavior during the day I visited the branch with my father, and she discriminated both of us. My dad was adding me as a beneficiary to his account in case if something happened to my dad while he's on vacation. Cherry refused to help both my dad and I with this matter and would give us ugly stares and complain about the previous bad review that I made against Cherry and she was explaining it like if she was making fun of both my dad and I instead of helping my dad and I. I went in the Sunnyvale branch to settle my banking business with Provident. They have been great but I'm consolidating banks. I was received with the greatest customer experience from a bank teller named Kendall. He offered the banks sell points/promotions and respectfully handled our final business. If you are looking for a reputable bank with the stellar customer focus Provident is the spot. I have no qualms with this bank. I was super impressed with the service even thou I was leaving. I noted down everything that went there and why I don't like visiting this location and only do so when I have to. I received a call aftrer 2 days from the lady Branch manager asking me to refrain from Talking to the tellers. If I don't talk to the teller then how am I supposed to do the transaction? My Mom and brother have both been banking with Provident for years, and I flirted with switching but my recent phone calls regarding a car loan were what tipped the scale. The APR was lower than the dealership by more than 2% on a phone call, so I decided to open my accounts (savings and checking) and walking into my local branch I felt a difference in culture. Most banks treat you like a number, but this felt like being treated like a member. I hadn't found me car yet, so it was another week before I called for the real deal, and I have to say Kenny made the whole process of buying a used car at a dealership much less painful in a couple of ways. During our call her mentioned that they offer extended warranty through Provident, and emailed a sample quote. Between the lower APR and this information, the dealership was unable to upsell me on their loan approval (which was a full 3.5% higher than my pre-approval through Provident!!!!!) or they're extended warranty or service packages. Their warranty was not quite double, but almost!!! Not only did Kenny prepare me for the hard sell in a way that made me feel invincible, but afterwards in the following day or two he was very kind listening to my awful experience, and walked me through answering questions so that I could feel confident in my decisions. The human experience both at my local branch and for each of the 5-7 phone calls combine to give me confidence that becoming a member with Provident is the right decision. Bonus, if I do a handful of things, my checking account with them has the potential to earn interest, which seems to be extinct at other banks. read more

FUCK provident credit union. This is literally the most incompetent bank Ive dealt with in my entire life. If youre thinking of banking here, dont do it. I notify them twice before leaving on an international trip that I will be overseas. Then when Im on my trip I try to log in to my online banking, not possible. I call tech support and the manager there tells me I need to download a VPN and fake my IP to make it seem like Im still in Cali. Lmao like are you really fuckin serious now? I need to basically lie to access my own account? I did all that and still couldn't access it so he did something on the back in to let me into my account one time. And after that I would not ever be able to get back in. Where in 2021 guys not 1999 what the fuck is really going on? And then to make matters even better my card gets locked because they think that my Apple iTunes transactions are suspicious, the same ones that I get charged every fucking goddamn month. Now I'm on a trip overseas and can't even use my card. I fucking love this bank. If you want to have an account at one of the most ass backwards incompetent banks Provident credit union is for you. read more

Reyna Gutierrez was so knowledgable, helpful and informative - the stress of the whole process just evaporated as soon as we sat down in her office. Not only did we get our car equity loan, but she even told us about a high-yield savings account so we can start saving for a house in the future. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, her colleague Marie Velarde helped us get a low interest credit card to transfer our current balances and boost our credit scores. The branch itself has nice staff. They are always very friendly when I come in. In act this branch is the only reason that I still have an account with Provident. I have run into numerous problems with the customer service telephone line. Whether it's not calling back when they say they will resolve an issue or completely ignoring the situation and simply continuing to deliver experiences that make me want to switch credit unions. Updated review: Provident did call me back mid-day Monday and was willing to verify their check to me. I am not sure if the telephone support staff during weekdays is different than during their Saturday operating hours, of if I had merely been unlucky in who I spoke to and her understanding of how to handle my call on Saturday. The good news is that, contrary to my preliminary experience, it is not the case the Provident categorically won't worth with non-members. But it was still an instance that does not measure up to the good experiences others are reporting, so I'm rating a "3". read more

The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Takes days, sometimes weeks to get a response on anything. They also constantly have weird technical glitches, including ones that caused overdraft fees. They would only reverse these fees caused by their technical errors after countless calls and wasted time. I am so glad I switched to Ally Bank where I can get help 24/7 or a response back to an online inquiry within a day. read more

Second she really goes out of her way to ensure that you get help every step of the way. I visited Provident Union for a car loan and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes it seems. She really made it effortless. The following day when I went to the dealership, I was able to reach her when I had questions and she even followed through during her lunch. Best thing about Provident: Super Saver Checking - Have 1 direct deposit (or other ACH, like Bill Pay) and 10 debit/credit transactions in a month = awesome interest rate. (Well, the 1.7% for my checking account is about 1.69% better than all my other accounts!) They offer the great interest rate when you meet those requirements... up to $25,000... then back to the normal cruddy virtually non-existent interest rate for amounts over that. They used to allow an unlimited number of the Super Saver Checking accounts... then they limited it to 3... and now it is only one. Thankfully, if you already have more that one, they didn't close/discontinue on you like a normal bank probably would have. Customer Service at this Branch: Employees are extremely friendly and try their best to be helpful. They listen to you and actually get you the answers you're looking for rather than passing you off to somebody else or making you jump through hoops and over hurdles to get a straight answer. They also go out of their way to be helpful and get you what you need. Unfortunately, there are generally only a few tellers available, so if you go at the same time as everybody else... and you have somebody with lots of issues (aka, me) in front of you in line, you may have to wait 10 minutes before you get help. Other Services: The ATM is right outside the door - have never seen a wait at it. They offer mortgage services at this branch... the guy is usually there every other Friday, so call to make an appointment if that is what you're looking for. Sounds awesome, right? So you're probably wondering why would I give them 4 stars, not 5? They don't have a lot of cash on hand. I needed $9,000 in cash to pay for my movers and contractors... they didn't have that much available. Ooops. I think they only had $11,000 total in the whole place... I guess I should have called ahead if I needed to get that much cash. (Or else work with people who are OK w/ a cashier's check.) They said if I call ahead 2 days I can get large amounts. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever need to bail my account! :/ read more

Worst banking experience ever! Do not waste your time banking here! The bank employee who entered in my personal information when creating my bank account entered in my social security information incorrectly. I have been into the branch at least 3 times to have this issue resolved, bringing in my physical social security card to show them my correct number and filling out forms to make sure my information was updated. Every time they flag my account for what they think is a fraudulent charge I get locked out, and spend HOURS on the phone trying to resolve it, and end up having to go into the branch office. The fraud and security department cannot unlock my account because for whatever reason, the social security number the security and Fraud department has on file, does not match to my actual social security number. Seriously, bank anywhere else! I plan to go back to reopening accounts at Bank Of The West. Horrible horrible experience here! read more

We have been with Provident for our business account for a year, and we have had nothing but problems. Upon account opening, our ATM cards did not arrive. After several phone calls and two branch visits later, we had ATM/debit cards but they did not work. Provident sent us to card services - card services sent us to Provident. Cards were replaced in the branch (twice), and still failed to work. We thought we found the problem. It wasn't the problem. Card services sent a new card (with the wrong name on it), yet it would not activate. The people at Provident have been nice (for the most part), but nice only goes so far when you can't deliver on the basics. We wanted to like Provident. We believe in staying local and we believe in credit unions, but we have come to the decision that we need to take our business elsewhere. read more
