We had the best 10 day trip to Ireland! It was off to a bad start tho when we missed our connecting flight in Chicago from Houston. We had to spend the night in Chicago. I only wish I just went right to the Hilton across the street, rather than spend 3 hours looking for a hotel from the airport. Our group had 27 of us and its hard to find 11 rooms late at night. I forgot we had the travel insurance and they should cover the bill. I just filed a claim today. Proximo had no problem emailing us a letter with all the charges we prepaid for the first day that we missed to help make a claim. A priest and deacon who we know and like from our church went with us. We had daily mass in several beautiful cathedrals and then prayed the rosary in the bus. We loved our tour guide Paul. He was very friendly and knowledgeable He made sure we still did all the things we missed. The bus was great. It was so nice to not worry about where to sleep, eat or go. It was all taken care of with the best results. I loved every minute. The only problems we had was strictly because of the airports. My luggage was left in Dublin on Friday. It arrived in Houston the next night. United sat on it for days since I live 160 miles away. They finally Fedex it and I got it that Thursday. My friend and I paid in full a pilgrimage that was to take place in June 2026. Proximo did not tell us the pilgrimage was cancelled due to lack of persons required. I had just e-mailed them two weeks prior asking when we would get our itinerary and airline tickets. They said a month before we leave. During a conversation, a woman at the church told me that the pilgrimage was cancelled. My friend and I were never notified. I called Proximo and was told that they have to look into it. I was then notified that it was cancelled and deleted from their system. Fortunately, after several phone calls and e-mails I did receive my refund. read more

The travel agent Sandy is the worst. We had to leave early due our daughter passing away while we were in Greece and desperately needed to get home. She told me that I had to call the insurance company in order to get home because she couldn't help me. After three hours on the phone I was able to get flights home with no help from proximo. Our flights alone were over $5000. she showed no sympathy whatsoever so ever. Wine was suppose to be included with every dinner and it was included in only three of our dinners. Every dinner was a buffet at our hotel except for one. On one day we had to take an 8 hour uncomfortable ferry ride to an island and the next day we had another 7 hour ferry ride then a 5 hour bus ride. Keep in mind some of our group members were elderly. Over all 60% of our trip was traveling. Proximo knew that there was a good chance that the cruise part of our trip would be canceled due to the war. Several of our group members called 2 to 3 weeks prior to us leaving asking proximo what the plan was if they canceled and they had no plan B. Sandy, our agent, put together a pathetic itinerary. Everybody complained so she added the ferry ride, which was horrible. I could go on and on but the bottom line is, the trip was nothing like we were promised. When the cruise portion of our trip was canceled, proximo was refunded the money and we were not. I ask Sandy how much of our money they were refunded and she refused to tell me. I feel sure that they actually made even more money off of us after the cruise part was canceled. Please do not use this company. I was very pleased with my Proximo trip to Italy, Sicily, Greece and Turkey: hotels, food, tour guides, buses, and drivers. My top compliment goes to Mario Bass. He is a valuable asset to your company. What a personable and caring young man he is! He always made sure that all members were keeping up with the tours as we walked. Seeing him assist an elderly member of our group by taking her arm and walking along with her is imprinted in my mind forever. He is most knowledgeable and had a detailed answer for all of my questions. Although the heat index was high on some days and the itinerary was full, in hindsight, I'm so glad I got to go on this memorable trip. I saw and experienced so much. read more

I planned a trip with them a few years ago but never reviewed this company. First night out I left my room to have dinner . When I returned I entered my room and my suitcase and belongings tossed on my bed and bathroom had been trashed with someone's belongings and reeked of cologne. On top of that a special bottle of wine I had purchased was gone and the cork and corkscrew left on the dresser. As it turns out the priest was booked in my room without my notice . I immediately went to locate him and found the two priests enjoying my wine together? They apologized saying they didn't know it was mine ??? They offered me a glass but I was so angry I just walked off . Next called Proximo and explained it all and they demanded my credit card for trip with a solo room . We booked a trip with Proximo Travel and purchased travel insurance which they do not offer but direct you to AIG Insurance. Proximo Travel canceled our trip because there were not enough people signed up and offered other trips or a refund but because the insurance is not through them they we are unable to recover the cost for our insurance which was very expensive compared to other travel insurance we have purchased. We are not out over $900.00 and no trip. read more

I had the best trip of my life with Proximo! I did the Italy regular trip and was highly impressed with the value of the trip, knowledge of the tour guides, quality of hotels (yet small but that's ALL of Europe), food included which was to die for, and overall experience. We got tickets to the popes mass and my friend and I were inches away from him! He even stopped next to us! Please disregard any negativity. They offer daily mass and go to religious sights. I just came back from the Holy Land with a Church group. This priest always uses Proximo. Let me say from the start, the help Proximo provided was NIL. This priest, while in the Holy Land, (a catholic priest) acted like a gestapo. He only took us places to shop, that benefited him. He got vestments, a beautiful picture for the church, many, many bottles of wine, which he was supposed to share with the group, and never did, among other things. These were very, very expensive places. We asked to be taken to some inexpensive places to shop for gifts/souvenirs. His reply was, "Absolutely not. That is not ALLOWED on HIS Pilgrimages". (I thought it was also our Pilgrimage seeing we paid over $4000.) Why would it be ok to shop expensive stores that sell lots of expensive wood items, jewelry, wine glasses/plates, bowls, body creams, scarfs, leather hand bags and sandals, and not ok to shop for some cheaper gifts? What is the difference? The difference is the priest does not get kick back on the cheaper stores. On the last day, our guide finally took us to a place so we could get some gifts at reasonable prices. I would never EVER recommend Proximo travel with this particular priest. By the way, the is a Florida parish. One more very important thing. This Catholic priest drank lots of wine and then started using the "F" word and telling inappropriate jokes/stories about naked women. THIS IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR OF A CATHOLIC PRIEST. Rather, they said by e-mail repeatedly that their policy is all monies are non-refundable in every case. No trip happened and all money lost. BEWARE! Proximo Travel is Catholic in name only, (CINO). Upon booking we were promised a priest and daily mass, never happened. Our Itinerary was exactly opposite from our plane ticket. Food and lodging was good. Toward the end of the trip we tested positive with a covid variant, and quarantined untill we tested negative, thus missing our return flight. Proximo rebooked our return flight but left us abandoned at the hotel with no way to the airport, two hours drive away. Upon return home I called Father Anthony to tell him the problems we had. At first he did not want to talk about it and tried to hand me over to his admin people. Finally he listened but nothing resulted from our conversation. I will never use this outfit again. I am 61 and Proximo Travel is the biggest scam I encountered in my travel history. My parish took a trip to Rome with Proximo Travel. We worked hard all year to raise the funds for the trip and submitted payment to Proximo. The month before our trip, my wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we both could not go on the scheduled trip to Rome with our Church. Proximo refused to refund the money paid. read more

We had phenomenal guides in Italy, locals who really knew Sorrento, Assisi, Rome, and Venice. The restaurants and food were excellent -- especially the wine -- and we truly enjoyed the accommodations. Our parish pilgrimage was scheduled to happen at the end of April, 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the shutdown of Italy, our group began to contact Proximo with our concerns in February 2020. Proximo responded with emails that were not timely nor helpful. When our group leader asked Proximo to move the trip to October of 2020, we were told that we could only transfer if we paid a nearly $1,000 additional fee. At a time when airlines, hotels, and travel agencies were refunding monies, we were being told we needed to pay additional fees. Our group continued to reach out to Proximo asking for itemized costs for the trip and the name of our airline and hotels. Proximo refused to give us the information. Our group leader pleaded with Proximo to waive the transfer fee and after several emails, Proximo cut the fee to about $500. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve and realizing that an October 2020 trip to Italy is unlikely, our group leader reached out once again asking for Proximo to remove the transfer fee, refund our money, or transfer the trip to next April. After waiting several weeks for a reply, we were suddenly contacted by Proximo and told that our trip has been moved to April 2021 and we must pay the $500 transfer fee or lose all of our money. Proximo has insisted that they cannot issue refunds and trip insurance will not cover a pandemic. Communication has not been timely or transparent. I urge you to NOT use Proximo Travel for your Catholic Pilgrimage. Proximo is not a company with integrity. read more

If I could give Proximo less than one star, I would. Encouraged by a local Deacon, I was used as the advertisement for a 'Catholic' trip to England and Scotland, originating in Louisville, Ky. We traveled in June/July 2015. Proximo uses guides on an as-needed basis. They may be conversant and knowledgeable about your destination. Then again, the might not be. The guide we were given in Scotland was local, but certainly not Catholic. Nor was her partner guide who was shipped in from Italy, Monica, what a doozie she was! The non Catholic Scottish guide was polite, but ignorant of Scots history, Protestant history and Catholic history. Monica, a guide reportedly brought in for her expertise, was interested in saving herself a seat on the bus and interjecting herself in the script at awkwardly and inappropriately timed moments. She was also oblivious to any 'Catholic' history. The trip seemed to be an inconvenience to her. No provision was made to celebrate Mass or stop for prayer in places of significance. Porterage, which was indicated as included in the price, was overlooked until one of our older pilgrims, lifting her own bags, fell and busted her nose on the pavement. A call back to the USA and a plea to our guides fixed that oversight. Want a great trip overseas? Look elsewhere for a competent company to see to your needs. read more

First of all they bill themselves as a Catholic travel agency. I took 2 back to back tours in June and July with them and learned they don't even have anyone from the Catholic Church employed as guides or employees. If you check their website they say " our priests" they don't employee priests only they help priests with vacation tour fundraising. I was told I would have a priest in Italy and didn't. Also, I would be with 2 priests in Fatima and Lourdes only they booked me on a church's private trip which is in poor taste for a travel agent. My post research revealed that if one wants to join someone's tour, they need approval from the organizers. I only asked if I could go to France after Italy. They cold have put me by myself I was traveling alone. The priests treated me so poorly, I wrote a letter to the archbishop of that diocese when I returned always politics when you join a private Catholic Church group as an outsider from another state and diocese. I was charged more as well. Then as a group leaving from Orly, France to Toulouse, the agency forgot to pay for 40 tickets and we almost missed our connection. Then they forgot to pay for our luggage from Lisbon to Paris and we had to pay when this was supposed to be included. I was not told I could charge my vacation and I overnighted cash. My mistake. I found out later as I was not told when I charged a small $1,500 i could have charged the full amount for an extra $150.00 and had he ability to dispute charges that were not delivered per the travel disclosures. I left 2 weeks after payment and they did not tell me the Trevi Fountain was closed and that when I got to Fatima, the Basilica would be closed until 2017 and we had 3 days there. The guides we had in Italy were good even though a Phd could not count to 11 and after telling her I was going to the toilet, I was left in the middle of nowhere while they went to Assisi. Then everyone in the group was mad at me because they had to turn around. Proximos guides are hired on an as needed basis and also work for other companies. So, you get the luck of the draw as far as education and ability to translate. What worries me the most is they do not own their own vehicles. So they don't know the maintenance records of the vehicles they contract I worked for the USDOT and audited the safety of bus companies. The one driver we had in Italy in the beginning wore the same clothes for 5 days and had a pillow and blanket in the bus. His tachographs looked very full and so did his logs. I know it was Italy but a fatigued driver is just that anywhere. I don't know if he was driving tours in between ours. I was e mailing and calling the manager and I got " sorry you are having problems" blamed the tickets and the baggage fee on the airlines and then had me scheduled on an Alitalia flight that ended up being TAP air Portugal All 800 numbers go to the same call center and I have written the NY and MA attorney generals I believe they are using the Catholic religion to exploit money but what is worse is I believe they are using the money to Ponzi. You just don't forget to pay for 40 passengers and your guide their one way airline tickets. They probably used the money on another tour and then baggage fees! Yikes Ponzi schemes do happen with travel agents it happened to my parents with a different company and normally you do not get your money back when they go out of business Their paperwork states to buy insurance which I did and I told them about my allergies and so did others about food allergies etc and they got for dinner what they where allergic to. According to the MA State Attorney General's office they have been in business for 4 years. I saw they stated 20. To be Catholic means to have travelers, pilgrims be met by clergy not just visit churches with a guide who says they are Catholic. I expected that to state this, they would abide by it. They told the private group " someone was coming in from Rome" to a Catholic that usually means clergy. I was finishing my trip in a Rome. They say transfers from anywhere. It is padded in the price and once you are oversees you are forgotten. To be Catholic is Rosary in the bus, mass everyday and a priest or Sister as a guide or both. Also, someone in management who is at least a Deacon to coordinate and answer questions. Don't talk the talk and insult people who follow their religion. Absolutely dreadful. Prior to the trip the company refused to give details of flights and other arrangements, invoking a "30 day" before departure window which prevented any upgrades. From a more serious point of view, the second hotel promised on our trip to the Holy Land did NOT have a reservation for our group, so having sat in the lobby like fools, we were taken to a hotel of such poor quality it is almost impossible to describe how bad it was. Proximo initially blamed their Israel Sub Contractor, although I know the dates of reservations, and then said they would come up with a concrete solution once they had dealt with their contractor. They also recognized it was their responsibility Two months have passed, they refuse to respond to any requests and no doubt feel that if they ignore it, it will go away. I want to write a review for Proximo Travel because after seeing many negative reviews, I would like to share our experience. We just returned from a 9 day trip from Italy. We started in Rome and we're greeted by our guide, Eleanor's Melani. She was the nicest person and so knowledgeable about all of the places we visited. Due to weather, our flight was delayed by 7 hours so we missed the things we were supposed to see on our first day. She managed to reschedule them on another day. There were 17 on our trip and she guided us through the crowds with ease. We had Mass at some amazing churches and got to see the Pope at the Vatican. The Hotel Clodio was a little older but very comfortable and the staff was great. I had some foot swelling due to some surgery and they provided ice nightly. We traveled to Assisi,Florence and Venice with our new guide, Fabrizio Pula, who was also very good. Our bus was a new Mercedes Benz so was very a comfortable ride Assisi was amazing and had Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis. Nilhotel in Florence and the Best Western Plus Quid hotels were modern and comfortable. I am vegetarian and our guides went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. Another group we're on the same schedule and our priests joined together and said daily Mass. Anyway, I hope anyone considering this travel agent won hesitate and will have the same wonderful experience we had. read more

We traveled to Italy with Proximo Travel from January 22nd to February 2nd, and were a private group from our Catholic diocese. Everything went very well except that a snowstorm cancelled our original flight out of the country! they were very good about connecting with our guides in Italy to let them know there were then 3 different parties from our group arriving, and each party was met with a Proximo guide, and they connected us all up on the tour route after taking us to our hotel. Amazing service and the most excellent Catholic tour guide in Italy - Eleanora Maiani! Everything was on schedule, hotels and restaurants were very good, and there were very few problems other than the lost luggage that happened to some in our group due to the snowstorm flight cancellation. read more

My wife and I just returned from the Austria, Germany, Switzerland trip. We were promised that a priest would be on the trip. None was provided. The "four star" hotel in Vienna was marginal in quality, as was the hotel in Munich. Before our trip we had several questions and were given very vague answers, so vague that we would have backed out of the trip if that were possible. Upon returning I called Proximo.
