Last year we wanted to spruce up the yard, install some zero scaping and replant the beds. When we inquired, they were several months booked, so we just procrastinated and didn't do anything. On the way home one month or so back, there was a PRT crew working in the neighborhood and it motivated me to reach out again. They quickly replied through Yelp once I sent them a message and the estimator was here in a couple of days for an estimate and to provide guidance. He was very helpful in making the decisions we choose. We pretty much revamped our entire landscape. New Sod, removal of old sod and installation of zero scape/natural flat stones/gravel. Replanted all the beds, reworked sprinkler system and a massive trim out of existing shrubs and the sort. Not inexpensive, however they were still less expensive then another service, who suggested such things as a French drain, which really didn't make sense and came in a couple grand higher. The crew were numerous and were on time, courteous and knocked out the project in only a few days. One slight slip was the sod was not available on the last day, so we skipped a day and had the job completed the day after. It still was in the time frame they informed us on to begin with and let us know the day before the sod was to be installed. The result of their hard work will be truly noticed when the new plantings take hold. We have been fortunate with having several days of rain and cool weather. A couple of weeks in the sod has taken hold and none of the plantings have died and are all perking up from the transplanting experience. We are very happy with the results and the ease of working with PRT from start to finish. read more

PRT did a great job creating a backyard patio area and walkway to where we store our trash bins. They also created a pathway in our front yard all with concrete pavers and basalt gravel. We absolutely love it! The crew were super polite and professional folks working through extreme heat over two days (super quick imo). They did a cool underground drainage features with our existing gutters that I'm excited to see workout when it rains next. They truly did a wonderful job and picked up after themselves and even hauled some leftover rotten decking we had for us. Super appreciated and can't wait to reach out to PRT in the future to help us with refreshing our flower beds. I am a designer and a bit of a perfectionist and had never been through this process before so he was fantastic and very understanding. He stayed within our budget and he and his team went above and beyond throughout the process. Installation days were exciting to see them clear and demo, install borders, lay sod, etc. I was really impressed with their attention to detail. Laying the stone steps took a while as they measured precisely, checked and rechecked how level they were and then checked it all again until they were happy. We have two daughters (3 & 6) that were fascinated by the whole process and the team were SO great with them. My girls were in the back yard with a rake "helping" out. Now my 6 year old wants to be a landscaper or a "yard person" as she calls it, lol. Brian and team, I really can't thank you enough. The backyard is finally safe for my girls to run around and play and we have a completely new space that wasn't ever able to be fully utilized. I called to schedule an estimate with PRT and a person by the name of Brian answered the phone. He was very kind and polite and asked me to fill out their form with my information online in order to get the estimate I was looking for. I thought it was a bit strange since his number is all over the website but this is this individual's personal cell phone number- so be aware they want you to fill out the online form, not call to arrange a bid. Maybe if you don't want people calling the phone number- don't make it huge and put it at the top of your website? *shrug* (It wasn't a huge deal but I thought it was a little odd.) I filled out the form and was contacted by Brian via the website to arrange the bid. I had given my times and dates that would work for my family. We agreed on a time and I was excited to finally get my project underway. He said "afternoon" in the bid and I cleared our schedule in order to be home and accommodate his availability. I asked clearly for him to please text or call when he was on his way. At 12:30 on the day I was sent an e-mail from Brian informing me that "the office" did not check my zip code and I am not in their service area. I received the e-mail at 2:30. He did apologize which was nice but it doesn't get me my afternoon back waiting for him to show up. Look, I get it. I am not in the area and that's fine. This review isn't about that- I *am* annoyed by how this mistake was handled. I double checked the website site and the only thing that even comes close to mentioning a service area is: "PRT Landscaping offers value when it comes to landscaping here in Austin, Texas." The project address is in Austin. There was no way for me to know via website or personal communication that there is a certain radius for this person's company that does not adhere to the city limits as stated above. It's simple, if you don't service a certain area, provide a map for people and I wouldn't have contact you and wasted my time. More importantly: I've *only* ever dealt with a -very nice- man named Brian - by phone or e-mail- at this company yet he blames the "office" for not checking my zip and cancels at the last minute by sending an e-mail. No phone call or text as I had requested. I am not in front of my computer all day on the weekends- that's why I needed a text/phone call. No dice. Two stars because PRT looks like they do excellent work and I can't comment on the final execution of their projects. What I can say is that I'm not super impressed with their communication skills or the clarity communicating their company's guidelines for service and contacting them. Furthermore making a mistake and not checking a bid's location until a day before then blaming an "office" I've never had contact with am not convinced exists doesn't inspire great confidence. We all make mistakes and I appreciate the apology but just own it and next time call/text a person instead of standing up a bid and sending an e-mail. On the side of PRT's trucks it says they are "honest, reliable, and prompt." WE AGREE! Brian came out to give us a quote. He was friendly, transparent, and honest in what he felt our yard needed in terms of sod and grading on a pretty intense slope. He gave ideas for lower cost options to fit our budget and shared what we pay for and not. There was no hidden fees in the proposal. The big snow storm in February 2021 meant our project got pushed back but they were clear in communication and then promptly arrived literally AT THE EXACT TIME they said they would on the first project day. It was impressive--a fleet of 3 trucks and a trailer all descending on our house right on time. The work crew was awesome too! They checked in with us and got feedback on the project. They installed 2 weeks ago and Brian still gave feedback on the best ways to water our sod. HIGHLY recommend PRT! We love our functional side and back yard transformation! Brian and crew did an amazing job on our large landscape job. Way exceeded our expectations. Timeline - they finished the job in 2 days and it was a big job (sprinklers, new sod, native and drought tolerant perennials, a couple red bud trees, fresh mulch in beds, edging installation, xeriscaping, rocks). They had 6-8 guys on the site and tackled everything I wanted them to and then some. Turnaround time was also really fast. After payment, it was only a few days before they were out to complete the job. In the middle of spring, this was rare to see from the other bids I received. Price - It was a fair quote for what was done. I got several quotes from other people, and Brian's was below the average, but definitely on the upper echelon in terms of quality and seeing things through. Friendliness - Brian was easy to work with, listened to all of our concerns and wants, and followed through will exactly what we asked for. Other contractors I spoke with would want to install the plants THEY wanted or not give an opportunity to talk and just kind of put in the plan they thought was best. Not Brian, he offered his knowledge and advice, but not in a pushy way. Very friendly and easily reachable via phone/text. I hired PRT Landscaping to install my irrigation system after they did a great job on my gate in 2019. The irrigation work was contracted out to Robert Middleton/irrigation pro services. My experience with the irrigation installation was less than ideal due to the subcontractor (Robert). However, Brian/PRT did his best to make things right. Brian appears to be a very reasonable guy and cares about customer satisfaction therefore I would recommend PRT for your landscaping needs. After my nightmare of an encounter with another "landscaper" I posted about to avoid a couple weeks ago (the no-show, etc.), I was lucky enough to find Brian of PRT Landscaping. I had several other bids, and they were reputable companies and very nice. I ended up with PRT based on price, flexibility, availability for my calls, and reliability. I am on my last day (they began yesterday) installing river rock along the sides of my fence to help w drainage/dogs. They arrived on time, with all of the materials, cleaned everything up (it looked like no one was even here yesterday except the work they did), and arrived promptly this morning (even in the rain) to finish installing the rock. They also were able to maneuver my sprinklers and install extenders so they popped over the rock. The company is insured (this is important), Brian (the owner) comes and works WITH everyone as well much of the time (important to me also), and there is a large crew of guys working at once who have been with him for a long time. This is NOT a fly-by-night company. My point is I highly recommend their work. They break every cost down for you so you can see material and labor (no other bid would do this for me). They show up when they say, they are legally here and paid well by the owner, and it has been a pleasure working with them. Women--I didn't have any men helping me out. So, if you are a single mom or woman and are looking for a company to do landscaping/rock installation/patios/etc., I highly recommend PRT as well. I felt at no point did they take advantage of my lack of knowledge, and in fact often said I didn't need certain things when other bidders pushed the extras. Honest. Reliable. Responsible. Insured. Brian and his crew worked with us to build a retaining wall. It was an unusual design to comply with the City of Austin's requirements. The first go throw actually didn't meet the City's needs. Brian was very patient and accountable to modify the construction to comply with the City's feedback at no additional cost.
