I have called on Prudent Plumbing twice in the past 6 months. The first call in January was to investigate a potential leak in my water main. Bob was able to determine in a very short time that there was no leak and that the source of the leak was a faulty value in my neighbor's watering system migrating into my yard. He did not even charge me for the trip to Carmichael. The second time was last week to change out some ancient values in my outdoor plumbing and the main turn off valve to my house. He also corrected an installation error made when my hot water heater was installed and the installer would not correct. Bob was very efficient and finished the entire job in less than an hour for a very reasonable price. I found Prudent Plumbing from this site and read great reviews about the company. Bob, the owner, gave me a fair flat rate estimate. My sewer line was clogged due to roots and had to be cleared through the guest toilet line. After removing the toilet, Bob had some difficulty getting the snake around a bend so he crawled underneath the house to look for a clean-out. Not finding one he tried digging under the deck outside the bathroom. Again no luck in finding the pipe. So he tried again with the snake using a different cutter and finally was able to get through the bend in the pipe and removed/retrieved a hunk of roots. Problem fixed. Bob worked much longer than he or I expected and did not charge me more than the estimate. He was a very personal and dedicated person. I would do business with him again. Highly recommended. I had Bob out once before to fix a pipe that broke when I was changing my garbage disposal and he did a great job. Last night I figured out my water heater had finally died. Bob is a one man band and I've used him on a variety off issues over the past two years, from helping diagnose where the leakage was happening with an aging, outdoor faucet/drainage area to fixing drains, faucets, and toilets inside the house. He really does work 7 to 7 and other than the rare occasions when he takes vacation or gets backed up with service calls, he almost always shows up within a couple of hours of me calling him. And after two times coming out to check a toilet that was backing up, the 3rd time he came and snaked it for free to finally clear whatever was several feet down in the pipes. I give Bob (owner) and Prudent Plumbing 5 stars all the way. He first came to my home Saturday morning after we called due to a back up in our lines in the backyard. He came out, worked for at least a half hour trying to snake the lines. No success but did find that we had a hole in our main drain pipe and said he wouldnt be able to clear the lines until it was fixed. He told us what needed to be done and said it would save us alot of money if my husband did the labor of digging up the pipes himself, then he packed up and left with no charge. We couldnt believe he had been there for almost an hour and didnt charge us. My husband did what he needed to do to make the pipes accessible (digging up the yard) but then found the pipe that had the hole had alot more issues than we expected and that we had some oddly rigged up pipes and lines and basically needed alot more done to it than my husband was wanting to invest his time into. We called Bob back and asked him to come by for an estimate on replacing the piping. He came back out, gave us an estimate and finished up the job at exactly what he quoted. He did great work, price was acceptable and he was very professional. I asked why he didnt charge us for the housecall when he first came out on Saturday and he said, "Why charge my customers for something I didnt fix". That is a professional who cares about his customers. My husband usually handles all the plumbing needs around my house. Not anymore.... I will ALWAYS call Prudent Plumbing going forward. I thought I had a serious issue on my hands and was hoping someone would come out right away. Everywhere I called quoted me a high "diagnosis" fee and couldn't come out that day. My husband was almost done with the installation of a new kitchen faucet and realized there was also a leak. He was unable to fix it so we called four different companys at around 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon. The guy at McDonald's hemmed and hawed and said he was busy. Bonney never returned the call. Super Rooter (or whatever the name) didn't list weekend hours so we weren't surprised they didn't call back. Ace called back but after Bob agreed to come (he was very nice and apologized for the delay in returning the phone call). Bob answered his phone when I called. Said he'd come fix the problem when he was finished picking out his Christmas tree. Then he called back and said we were out of his area so he would charge an additional 40 bucks to drive down to Elk Grove. We were cool with that. He said 5:30 but was here before 5. He was in and out in 30 minutes or less. Very professional and knew what he was doing. I wouldn't pay the $40 out of area charge for a non-urgent issue but it was well worth the extra cost just to get the problem solved in a reasonable amount of time.
