Shoutout to Roger Harlan for his honesty and standing by integrity! I found this company on yelp and read local plumber Reddit threads that they give reasonable priced quotes and their work is reliable. In the process of selling my home, I was told the master bedroom drain was slow and the dishwasher loop needed to be fixed so I spoke with Jimmy and made a service appointment. No upfront scheduling fees, and I was given a fair quote for the estimated work to fix the two items. Come the day of the service appointment, Roger updated me on his ETA, showed up at the confirmed time, and looked at everything. The honesty comes in where he confirmed there was nothing to fix really and explained that the dishwasher loop would require an air intake valve which meant cutting through the granite counter and he ran the dishwasher which ran just fine. All this to say, I could have had another company charge me just for the visit and for a fake fix but not Mako! Roger went the extra mile to write me a report invoice of $0 explaining his inspection. This is the epitome of integrity. Happy to write this review to express my gratitude! If I was keeping the house, I'd keep Mako as my go-to plumber and will still be sure to pass along this name to our neighborhood community Facebook group. My review is more like a 4.5 star experience, but Yelp doesn't let half stars happen. I met Roger (plus one) and Trevor at the property to do some hydrojetting. They were nice, but they were late due to their previous job. I did stay and watch the whole process. The camera was attempted once on the main area of concern during the process but not after the hydrojetting. Also, for some reason, the hydrojet line couldn't go completely through the pvc pipe. The water flow improved to the front, but it's not completely unclogged. The water continues to sit in the French drain pipes. Is it because of a negative slope or continued blockage? We didn't really hydrojet much on the other drains because there was a concern about the line getting caught. Overall, it wasn't a complete solution to my problem, but it's a step forward. read more

Can you believe "professionals" seated this toilet? That's what they call them at Mako Plumbing. Shoddy work, guys showing up for work and smelling like they'd just finished smoking pot. Who knows if the job was done right? time will tell. Were the fittings ever checked after the "high" employees finished? NO! How disappointing can a guy be after paying such an exorbitant amount of money for the re-plumbing of an entire house. I picked the wrong company. You're rolling the dice if you choose these guys. One of the two who were smoking pot is the son of the owner. He'll probably never be punished or disciplined. Why should he if he's next in line for the company? Mako repaired an upstairs leaking toilet that caused damage to the ceiling below. The plumber explained the issue, and replaced the wax toilet ring that caused the leak. He even offered a referral for someone to repair the drywall on the ceiling below. Sent out a request for a quote in Yelp and not only were they quick to respond, I had a chance to actually TALK to someone. Chris was able to schedule a visit the next day. I valued their family owned status and free quotes which I received verbally the same day as the visit. I had them verify water lines to the washer (which Roger was able to do on the spot) and change out water valves to the shower in my condo. Though it took a while to receive the quote via email to pay, I appreciated that they continued to expeditiously proceed with the service. Roger was great! My house had a sewer backup, and I had a plumber clear it, but it clogged again within 24 hours. The plumber was not available. So I called Mako Plumbing, and Roger was able to come immediately, even though it was after hours. Roger cleared the clog, diagnosed its root cause, and provided a detailed proposal. I strongly advise against using Mako Plumbing and Sewers. They install inferior product (American Standard, typically used for DIY projects) and charge a higher rate for it. Their business is unprofessional and breached their duty to perform work in accordance to industry standards. Timeline of Events: 1/4/25: I contacted Mako for a water heater installation. Despite requesting an invoice and payment terms, they claimed they couldn't send one and insisted on payment immediately after job completion. I did let them know I am abroad traveling at this time and can make a full payment upon my return on 1/13/25. 1/5/25: The job was completed, but due to time zone differences (I was traveling internationally), I missed their call for payment. 1/6/25: I finally received an invoice, which their policy clearly stated a $50/day late fee for non-payment. I accepted this condition and planned to pay in full upon my return on 1/13/25 with no problem. 1/8/25: Without any communication, the plumbers showed up to the property making false claims to the renters that the water heater was recalled, gained access to the property, and uninstalled the unit. Chris and his team then called me, aggressively demanding an additional $500 on top of the agreed price, stating the new total was $2,900 if I wanted to keep the unit. Chris and his team used intimidation and coercion in an attempt to extort me for more money. Moral of the story is using hostility and intimidation WILL NOT get you far in life or business. On the same day I fired Mako Plumbing, I hired another professional plumber who installed a superior water heater (Bradford which is only sold to and installed by licensed professional plumbers) at a much lower cost ($1,700). The new plumbers installed it much neater and more securely than Mako Plumbing. This was a blessing in disguise. Thankfully, I found a reliable plumber to correct their misconduct, installed a better product and at a much cheaper cost. I cannot recommend Mako Plumbing and Sewer to anyone seeking professional service. read more
