I just went here today, and I found their work a little sloppy. I got a simple manicure. Maybe it was the polish, but there are lots of little bubbles on my nails, and they didn't evenly coat my nail from coat #1 to coat #2. Also, lots of little uneven splotches. I didn't love the weird hand dipping thing, especially since it messed up my nails and she had to re-do one. I usually go to Treasured Hands which is about $20 w/ tip for a mani, but they definitely do a better job. I might go back there or continue to give myself mani's that are of the same quality as the ones here. read more

This nail salon has the same price or better compared to the rest of the Newbury salons, with better service and generally more worth. They do paraffin wax with their regular $15 manicures, and include hot stone massage with their regular pedicures. Having both for $35 is the same as other salons who don't add the perks, so PS knocks it out of the water. They also have a stamp card that gives you a free manicure after 10. I think people would also appreciate that they have a solid English speaking receptionist. Overall, my go to since I work in the area. read more

For the same price as those other salons ($35) you get a true spa treatment: Hot stone massage, high quality massage chairs, complimentary beverage, an array of lotions, and a hot wax dip to soften your hands and dry your nails. The salon was totally sanitary. In fact, it was so clean that it made me think twice about the conditions that I put up with in other salons. I watched them clean everything! Everything seemed great, the woman greeting people at the front was so friendly, as was my manicurist. The free wax dipping was great and no complaints until the actually nail painting took place. I received a thick paint job which resulted in chunky, bubbly looking nails. Already a significant smudge and I waited over 20 mins drying at the salon and another 15 before actually touching anything. If you decide to go keep an eye on the person doing your nails to make sure they don't put it on too thick. Probably won't return. read more

Really bad service. I think I had the manager based on how she was talking to the other workers and greeting the customers. You would expect better service from someone from a higher position but no. All she did was focus on smiling and talking to the other customers and ordering around the other workers. She didn't focus on my pedicure at all. She was so distracted and took forever to finish: my friend that I came with was finished by the time my person started cleaning my nails. The prices are what you expect for a pedicure at a salon on Newbury: ~40 including tip. It may sound like it's worth it because of the scrub and hot stone massage, but it really isn't. They do the most basic job for every aspect of the pedicure and do not really take their time. Maybe my expectations were too high because this is my first pedicure in Boston and its a salon on Newbury but I've been to my fair share of nail salons and this one does not even compare. I have had my fair share of mediocre manicures and pedicures, as have most people who refuse to pay much for them. If I were to write a review solely on my pedicure quality, I would give 4 stars. They did a great job and it has really lasted. My hands, however, were sloppily done. The polish itself was indelicately applied and did not look professional and it began to chip the following day. Were I rating on the quality of the mani and pedi together, it would bump my rating down to a 3. The real reason for my low rating of this establishment is time. I waited almost a full hour before they started my pedicure, even though the establishment was barely half full. When all was said and done, it took me 2.5 hours to get a mani/pedi. I really enjoyed my mani & pedi here!! $35 for both - all credit cards accepted. My technician was Lam. I was a walk in and was serviced immediately. I was there for an hour for good reason. Lam took her time with my nails - spent probably 80% of both the mani and pedi just doing the actual spa part - cleaning, cuticle pushing, nail filing, (hot stone) massage, etc. until it was really ready for paint. She also painted three coats and a thick top coat. My nails looked hard and shiny afterwards, definitely obvious a professional did them. They also have a "frequent buyers" card to get a free mani/pedi after 10 sessions. Found my go-to place for mani and pedi! read more

PS Nails & Spa is the best mani/pedi experience I've ever had, and at $35 that's just fine by me. Massage chair. Bottle of water. HOT STONE MASSAGE ON YOUR FEET AND CALVES SWEET LORD (do not make the same rookie mistake I made and wear skinny jeans to this experience or only your ankles will get the royal treatment). Fingernails are the usual experience (I just do a regular paint, no gels or acrylics), but your hands get dipped in a paraffin bath before lotioning up and sending you on your way. They even oiled up some baggies for my feet before sticking me in my sneaks so I wouldn't make any smudges on my way home. Time.spent.doing.things.right. Foot treatment was about 45 minutes, hands were about a half hour. Another 15 to dry, I was out of there in an hour and a half, and felt like I'd utterly treated ma'self. I called 4 spots on the fly for last minute Pedis with my daughter. We flew into Boston for vacay from the Bay Area. The receptionist answered the phone and spoke English very well, so maybe I reached an American-owned establishment? She was able to squeeze us in within 20 min of my call. Walked in and low and behold, of course it was owned and run by Vietnamese owners and workers. Was seated within minutes of chosing a polish color. Unfortunately, we were not seen until about 20 min more after we sat in our pedi chair. They were extremely busy. My daughter and I get mistaken for being Filipino often, and this time with my hair having highlights, the nail tech thought I was Thai until I started speaking Vietnamese. This tactic works and was rewarded with a deluxe pedi for the price of a classic pedi. Salt scrub and hot stone massage. The owner definitely wanted us to review them well and compare the experience to back at home. They were all sweet and very curious of how the Nail Salons are back in Cali. This salon is in the center of the Prudential Center and very clean and great Pedi Spa Chairs. You would have to go as for as Los Altos, Palo Alto, or Menlo Park to be serviced in a nice establishment like that so I give this 4 stars of course. This is beyond your basic nail salon. I walked-in on a Wednesday afternoon (lunch time hour) and it wasn't busy at all. The owner/manager (I presumed) welcomed me and signed me in. She offered me a water and there was a WiFi password already posted. That to me is already a mark of superior service. I got the basic spa pedicure which includes filing, shaping & trimming, cuticle cutting, and a massage, complete with exfoliation & hot stones. This service was $25. The venue itself was clean and professional. They ask you often if you like what they are doing so feel free to speak up if you are unhappy with the color or the paint. I will definitely be coming back. PRO TIP: While they do accept cards, they DO NOT accept tips unless it is in cash. I didn't have any so I felt bad :( Extra large tip next time! read more

I feel like for the price we paid for the mani-pedi ($35) we totally got our money's worth and then some. For the pedi we got the hot stone rub, the exfoliation, pumice stone scrubbing for calluses on top of the usual stuff. Sometimes I don't always get those services elsewhere. For the manis- we got the paraffin wax dip, arm massage, lotion in addition to the usual. It just felt like nothing was left out. Even though the facilities were clean and nice, my experience at PS Nails was so miserable, I will never return. And I advise you to never go to PS Nails either unless you are looking to spend over 3 hours to get a mani/pedi, with an appointment! My sister and I made appointments on her birthday to get our nails done. The place was totally full, so even though they sat us, it took quite a while to be attended to because each staff member was attempting to service 3 or more customers at a time. They all ran around so busy and understaffed that no one got good service. Have they never heard of telling some customers they cannot accommodate them at that moment and they could wait or come back later? No, they wanted to seat every customer despite the fact that there weren't enough workers to accommodate them all. Finally, as our manicures were drying, we wanted to pay and leave but apparently only ONE STAFF MEMBER COULD WORK THE REGISTER! So we had to wait over 30 minutes for that one lady to be available in order to let us pay. We waited for an extended period of time once our nails were finished and dry just so that we could pay. THEN they charged us $55 for a mani pedi even though there was a huge sign about a $35 mani pedi special. We got gel manicures and regular pedicures, so ours should've cost a bit extra for gel but not over 50% extra especially after the terrible service on my sister's birthday! The only thing I regret more than coming to this spot in the first place is actually waiting over 30 minutes to pay just to get severely overcharged! NEVER GO HERE EVER. read more

I've been here many times. I'm a big fan of Ciara and Henry, who have done acrylics and dip gel for me before. The friendly staff always remember you, and really care about how you want your nails to look! The full acrylics or dip gel with a gel manicure finish usually takes about an hour and a half. They also give you a bottled water which is nice especially if you're in for a longer service. They have an extensive selection of colors from OPI, Essie, Shellac and Nobility. They also have stamp cards that'll give you a free mani after 10 services. I get a lot of compliments for my nails and I always recommend this place! I look forward to returning soon. read more

They started up selling me from when I first sat down, which I didn't mind much even though the things they offered were way overpriced. During my pedicure, I decided to get gel nails instead of a regular manicure. They had an item listed "dip gel." It's not polish; it's more like acrylic nail extensions, but uses a UV gel. Or at least, it should. They had me pick a special polish color, which I thought was because they needed something that would work with gel. They pulled out a powder and told me it was the dip gel. I was confused but let them continue, thinking this must be a different formula than I was used to. When they didn't use the UV machine, I knew something was wrong. They pulled out UV Polish, which I soon realized was the only gel in their "dip gel." I told them I'd rather use the same polish as on my toes. I mean, really, I could accept acrylic instead of gel, but I wouldn't be tricked into ping more for it, or so I thought. Not only did they charge me to increased price for "dip gel," they also charged me 2x the price for french tips. It was almost $100, and they didn't even put a top coat on my toes!! AND less than a week later their special "dip gel" started to pull away from my nails!! I've NEVER had such a bad job done. I has to super glue them back on so I didn't lost my nails into the nailbed. I will NEVER return and suggest only getting the most basic services there if any, and keeping a close eye on exactly what they do. I almost gave 2 stars because the place did seem clean and the people friendly, even though they were cheating me, but the manicurist failed to push back my cuticles and cut my skin with the rotary sander they use to clean up the acrylic. It was unnecessarily painful and probably part of the reason the nails failed so quickly. They may have been good in the past but they are horrible now. read more

Greeted as soon as you walk in, staff knows your appointment off the top of their heads, etc. Have gotten both manicures and pedicures here, and the work is great and lasts for a while. The technician definitely took her time with my nails, and went back when she was done with a small brush and acetone to make sure the lines were as clean as possible. The tech that did my nails could not have been nicer. She took the time to make sure my nails looked perfect. The acrylics that I got are very thin and natural looking. I also got a paraffin wax treatment afterward, along with a menu of lotions to choose from. This is all included!!! You do have to bring cash to tip, though. I am SO happy that I ended up walking into this nail salon! I tried going to another nail salon down the street but they told me that I had to come back in an hour and 45 minutes- I had this salon in the back of my mind and figured I'd give them a try! I went in on a Sunday and was seated immediately upon arrival so I didn't experience the common statement on here that says you need to book an appointment first. I can see how that might be true during the work week however because it is pretty small inside. First of all, a gel manicure is only $30 which is such an amazing price for Boston/Back Bay area. The salon I was at previously was charging me $35 for a new gel set and removal. PS Nails didn't charge me for the removal of my previous gel set which made me so happy! I asked for a french gel mani and which was $35 and I didn't mind that price at all! My nail technician Lien was amazing. She was so careful, precise and wanted me to leave with perfect manicure. She was very skilled and experienced. She was also very sweet and she offered me a water bottle in case I was thirsty! I was a little shaky and jittery and ended up moving my hand while she was doing the french mani so she had to go over one of my nails to fix it but she was so patient with me when it happened and didn't seem to mind at all! She didn't make me feel bad at all. At the end, she brought me over to the paraffin wax pot and I was so surprised that I was dunking my hands into it because I thought it was something you had to pay extra for but it isn't! It's included in every manicure and it was seriously so comforting and relaxing especially when she removed the wax from my hands. I was visiting Boston with a friend whose a NECO student on Saturday morning and decided last minute to get my nails done. She recommended this place. Despite the mixed reviews I decided to give them a call around 10:15am and they squeezed me in for a 11am mani pedi. They told me they probably wouldn't get to me til 11:45 but just to show up anyway. So I walked in around 11 a little annoyed thinking I would have to wait another hour but I was told to pick a color and was offered a massage chair right away! I had Lien who did an excellent mani and pedi! Despite the fact they were very busy with appts and walk ins, she really took her time working on my tortured toes and dry hands (I work in a hospital so I'm on my feet for almost 10 hours a day and wash my hand a billion times a day!). No cuts or nicks left on this gal, just some well groomed nails. The hot stone massage and paraffin wax included in the $35 combo price were an excellent treat! I never opt to purchase any add on services when I get my nails done but maybe I will now haha. It wasn't just like "here's a burning hot stone I took out of the microwave and am going to rub on your legs for 10 seconds." It was a legit leg and foot massage, the kind you get at a professional spa. I'm from Southern California where there are nail salons on every block with competitive prices, so I am no stranger to getting my nails done. But I can honestly say this is one of the best experiences I've had getting my nails done! Excellent work, customer service, and a very cute and clean salon. Great selection of OPI, Essie, and Vinylux colors all organized by their shade which makes a world of difference when you're trying to find the perfect color. I got a shellac manicure with Jade, and he was very thorough. I was pretty picky with what color I wanted, and he was nice enough to get at least three bottles of different shades of nude before I was satisfied. The gel application itself was great. However, he didn't do a great job of filing my nails or cuticles, and didn't shape my nails at all.
