I know there are a few miniluxes in the city but I decided to check out the Brookline location because they have an active instagram and often post really cool nail designs. I met Nari, told her my aesthetic, she showed me some fun inspo, and then she crafted a unique nail set design for me! I've been going back ever since and decided to make a cool collage of all the designs Nari has created for me. I can't recommend Nari enough !!! She takes her time to prep my nails and she lets me send her mood boards for my inspo before my appointment. I have been living all of my nail dreams thanks to her. While doing my pedicure, the pedicurist cut my toe, causing it to bleed. She acted like nothing had happened until I pointed it out. The she put on some liquid that is supposed to stop bleeding but it did not. finally another woman came to help her and put on some ointment and a bandaid. Of course I stopped the pedicure. No one apologized until I complained to the woman at the front desk on my way out. She gave a superficial apology and that was it. The staff at the salon were all very friendly and welcoming, and I really appreciated how attentive and detailed the nail artist was during the prep stage. However, I did run into some issues with the actual gel application. Even though I mentioned several times during the process that there were uneven surfaces and visible marks, and the nail artist did try her best to correct them, the final result still came out looking quite lumpy and uneven--almost like ridges or tooth-like shapes on the nails. I understand that everyone has different strengths and I truly have nothing negative to say about the attitude or effort, but I do think there's room for improvement in the gel polish technique. I ended up having to remove the manicure later that day at another salon because I just didn't feel comfortable with how it looked. read more

However my most recent experience was the best by far. Not only did I find a new favorite color but Maria was so gentle with me, I'm in love with both my mani and pedi! I was so relaxed by the end of it all #BLISS. Also Nancy (congratulations again on her pregnancy), and Tonya (Regional Manager) were so nice and friendly, the best service ever. I was excited to hear that the Brookline location had turned into the Academy, and thought it would be good for a couple of winter pedicures when my feet are taking a break from polish (a hibernation, I suppose) but could still benefit from cuticle care from someone who knows what they are doing. I've never had a problem when booking online for Chestnut Hill, but several attempts to book here showed nothing for 2 months out, so I called and the recording says to email with any questions. I sent an email on December 9th and never received a response. Surely someone at that corporate location could check the in-box and at least reply to people? There are so many great pedicure options nearby - I go to Bellacquer in the spring/summer months - so it isn't as if anyone will suffer! read more

This is a great place to get your nails done, definitely worth the value. I've been here multiple times. If your manicure chips within a few days or there is some other flaw (for example, the top coat on one of my manicures had been gloopy and didn't dry right), you can just text them and they'll schedule you for a fix up free of charge. Really great service and always a high quality manicure. One note - their website sometimes doesn't let you book a specific service. That's just because they don't have any apprentices at the stage where they can do that yet. Just wait a week or two and look again! read more

Not the worst gel manicure I've gotten, but definitely not worth $47. The technician seemed literally incapable of paying attention to what she was doing for more than 30 seconds at a time. If anything happened anywhere in the salon, her head would snap over to watch, and she would remain fixated. Particularly scary while filing...I have thin skin. The polish turned out ok, but a bit uneven and jagged at the edges. MiniLuxe also seems to have some weird practices, like using an eyelash spoolie on your nails?? Odd. I've been going to this location since they first opened. The staff is always very friendly and makes the experience so enjoyable each time I go. I loved having the ML membership when that was first offered - unlimited manicures with such great people (Simone, Nancy, Amy, Naomi) in a beautiful salon was something I looked forward to each week! I appreciate all that the staff has taught me about nail health and proper care. Over the years, I've brought my out-of-town family and friends with me, who now request we go to ML Coolidge Corner each time they visit. Since moving out of this area 4 years ago, I've returned frequently, and will be going more often now that this location has transitioned to the academy, lead by the wonderful Kareena! Marissa and Mary are so talented, I was pleasantly surprised at how great these "students" were. Kareena is lovely, a well-rounded leader at this salon, and even while we're chatting, she always has a pulse on what's going on around her. She's consistently offering tips, constructive criticism, and positive feedback to the techs in training to ensure they're improving each time they're with a client. I hope clients who go here understand that this is a learning environment, and appreciate what they are offering for such a great price. I have been to ML salons all over Boston/Greater Boston (almost all of them at this point), as well as RI and CA, and although all are beautiful and most do a great job, Coolidge Corner has been the most consistent with a 10/10 experience each time and feels like "home" when I visit. I've never written a yelp review but I am extremely disappointed with is location, for the second time. This first time was because I arrived early for an appointment and they kept pushing it back saying the esthetician was still working with her other client because they "weren't happy" and finally (after almost 40 minutes of waiting) the receptionist told me she didn't know when the appointment would be over and didn't offer anything to me. I ended up going to the chestnut hill location where they offered a free manicure due to my inconveniences. Thanks, chestnut hill. This time was much worse. I received a lip wax from someone who was new and clearly was not comfortable with what she was doing. The end result was an entire layer of skin taken off my lip and a bloody patch. She then attempted my pedicure and did a terrible job painting so mid pedicure she turned to another girl and asked her to redo it because she was new. I was there for over two hours and I was just amazed at the unprofessionalism and to be honest the lack of empathy. When you are paying a higher price for the same service you want to have a great experience. Instead I'm left with a scab over my lip to start off my 4th of July weekend. I won't be returning to this location, ever. This really makes me sad because before this location moved up the street it was great. UPDATE: not only did the experience suck, but my nail polish is already cracking less than 24 hours after with the "performance polish" this place is a joke. Do not go to this location!!! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I had a great experience there and the environment was super clean, friendly, and very relaxing. I got a foot facial and performance pedicure, as well as a performance manicure. Everything looked amazing when I left last night at around 5:15pm. But already this morning I noticed that my nail polish was coming off (on my fingernails). It's hard to describe but it's almost peeling off in chunks. The corner edges of my French manicure are almost completely gone. After less than 24 hours, this already looks like a one week old manicure which doesn't make any sense, especially since I paid the extra money for the performance polish which is supposed to last for at least a week!. read more

My sister and I got the quickie mani-pedi experience yesterday and it was pretty nice. Positives of MiniLuxe is that it doesn't have a strong acetone smell in the salon, the color selection was great (and it's nice that they're non-toxic, the seats were comfortable, the salon was clean, and all the staff was really nice. Our only con was that we were expecting more from the pedicure and manicure - it really was more like polish changes than true pedicures/manicures. There was very minimal cuticle clean up and nail trimming and that was it before they painted our nails. I do love that it was a quick hour experience for getting our nails done, but because they don't use UV lights and just fans expect for your nails to take longer to dry. Also both of our nails are starting to chip today, so maybe ask for another top coat layer or plan on putting another on yourself if you want it to last. read more

I really want to like this place because it's convenient, the staff is friendly and it's clean. But the quality just isn't there, especially for the absurd money. My first experience with this place was when they were located down Harvard St. I had used their Dazzle brand polish. Three weeks later, my ENTIRE toe nail came off. Completely. I called them and even walked over there, trying to talk to the management. No response. No apologies. Wanted to give them another chance with the new Coolidge Corner location. Ok, a couple of times the pedicures were OK but nothing really that much better than what you'd get at a regular nail salon. But today, got a pedi and the girl who was doing it, was nice, sure and tried. But looking at the job, looks like it was her first pedicure ever. So is it worth paying almost $40 for that type of job? Certainly not. Sadly, Miniluxe just seems to be a somewhat failed experiment in branded nail care due to lack of quality, consistency and attention to customer concern. read more

I used to really really love MiniLuxe. I convinced a friend to come here with me over the summer because I felt like it's the cleanest nail salon option, and they had excellent, safe nail polish options including a large selection of Zoya polishes which are '10-free' including TPHP (which none of the other major brands are free of) HAD is the problem... I didn't find the experience that over the top extraordinary here, other than the new salon location is nice and the staff here seemed better than the old location. But the kicker for me was that they had removed all their other polish options and now only offer their 'Miniluxe' line of polishes which not only are less safe than Zoya but are less exciting in selection. For this and this alone, I will be going elsewhere, and just bringing my own Zoya polish. It's unfortunate because I would have kept paying the premium in order to have a really big selection of safe colors. read more

My wife booked a nail appointment a few days ago for today at 3:45, received an email confirmation for today and drove 45 minutes to get to this location where the appointment was. When she arrived the staff at this location said there was nothing in their computer system that says she has an appointment for today. She was not happy at all. Initially they did not accommodate her and only gave her a "sorry". When she asked if they could squeeze her in, the first response was well we can fit you in tomorrow at 5 o'clock. This simply just did not work for her. She left the shop upset but decided to call back and ask for a manager. When it didn't seem that there was a manager available to speak to her a staff member stated to her that the absolute best they could offer was for her was to come back at 5 o'clock today, but it was for a much reduced kind of service that she absolutely did not want. My wife ended up driving home very upset. Long story short there was a software issue that someone either did not update or someone failed to take care of. Or someone didn't take responsibility for confirming an appointment and that is a fail. read more

I've been exclusively using MiniLuxe for over a year now, and this is by far the best location. I've had the two best mani/pedis at this location. I always get the same combo: mani with performance polish and pedi with added massage. My nails are so strong now that I've been a loyal ML customer. My performance polish manis are everything. They go on thin like a normal polish, but, for me, stay on much longer than any gel. Because it's not thick, I don't want to peel it off. If my nails didn't grow, I'd still have a perfect manicure a month later - and I do, but they've grown out. Everything is either stainless steel and cleaned in an autoclave or it is disposable. Super clean. Great ambiance. I've had both Simone and Naomi, and I give them both 5 stars. Best mani/pedi in Boston, no question. read more

This was the fourth time I've visited a MiniLuxe and the second time visiting this location. I enjoy the company, for sure, but I do think this location isn't getting enough love on Yelp--I've had fantastic experiences both times! I went yesterday for an 8am gel manicure and appreciate that, even though I book the earliest appointment time, I am always greeted in a bright and friendly manner. I was checked in easily, offered tea or water, and was greeted by Nicole within minutes of arriving. She was extremely personable and made the whole experience worth more than just a manicure. When I asked her opinion on colors, she didn't hesitate to give her honest opinion and, at the end of the session, I was extremely happy with my end result. The service was great, the experience and customer service was exceptional, and I would absolutely recommend it to friends and family! read more

My sister and I came here for mani/pedis last week and had a pretty good experience. All MiniLuxe locations are very clean and trendily designed. It was definitely a little cold and drafty though so bring a sweater. They have tea and water you can help yourself to. Most of the nail polishes are their own salon brand, but they had a few OPIs and Essies to choose from. I chose their regular nail polish for my fingers (they have high performance polishes that are more expensive, but they promise will last much longer), and an Essie for my toes. My sister opted for two OPI colors. Their pedicures are awesome. My technician spent a while shaping my toenails and cleaning away dead skin and cuticles. I'd run a half marathon a few weeks previously so my feet were in rough shape. They also give you a pretty lengthy massage. I am disappointed that one of my toenails already chipped (1 week out) as I feel like pedicures usually last longer than that. It's still cold enough I don't wear sandals though so it's not like I need to repaint them right away. The manicure was pretty standard, but I do wish they'd pushed my cuticles back a bit further. Already I'm seeing a decent gap at the base of the polish and I don't think my nails usually grow that fast. After 1 week there's only a few small chips which is way better than most manicures I've had. Their prices aren't great, so it's definitely a treat to come here. I had a voucher for a free manicure with a pedicure, otherwise I probably wouldn't bother. (I spent $40, normally it would've been $60) We were able to get metered parking right around the corner. read more

I really want to like MiniLuxe. Pros: Doesn't smell like chemicals, clean and bright, sterilized tools, beautifully designed space, comfortable seats. Cons: Very pricey, they never remind you to get your frequent flier card punched (and I always forget) not to mention 2+ hours to do a basic mani pedi with one add on service? At the Newbury location, the woman working on me had the nerve to shame me mercilessly for the condition and size of my feet and the type of nail polish I already had on. I'm a yoga instructor, size 9.5, thank you very much. No comments necessary. I usually go to the quickie places, but today, I had the time and wanted a splurge. I haven't been to a MiniLuxe in while due to above-mentioned shaming. I decided to try this one instead of Newbury (also due to above-mentioned shaming). I booked a Hand Facial mani (because it's winter and my hands needed the extra TLC) and a Signature Pedi with callous removal. Nancy was very sweet, did a nice job. She didn't mind when I closed my eyes for a bit when getting the pedi. (They make me sleepy). However, she completely forgot the Hand Facial part of my Hand Facial Mani, and she didn't realize it until I was sitting at the nail drying station! I've never gotten that service before, so, I didn't know what to expect. I was so disappointed because that's the whole reason I went there today. And then there's this: when you have a bad experience at ML, they never, ever, offer to discount the service you did get or give you a coupon for a discount the next time. When a restaurant screws up your order, they give you free drinks or an app. Nope, ML just removes the services that they forgot to do for you from your bill and says, "You can get the service we forgot the next time!!" like that solves the problem. Like I said, I don't often have 2 freakin hours to sit still and do this only to be disappointed...AGAIN...so "next time" will likely be somewhere else. read more

For my service i got a dazzle dry manicure for my first time and they told me it would last up to ten days but it actually lasted longer and it is definitely worth the $10 upgrade. The free manicure during opening weekend was a great surprise, and the new location is just as you would expect for a MiniLuxe: extremely clean, bright, modern, technologically-savvy, efficient technicians, friendly front desk staff. The negatives here are a small waiting area (3 seats), and very limited polish colors (they mostly carry the MiniLuxe brand). Also, it's worth mentioning that the quality of the hand massage during the mani really varies based on your technician. While Aer NailBar is still my preferred nail place (great color selection, massage chairs for pedis, and can't beat their included neck massages during regular manis!), this MiniLuxe location will also get a good amount of mileage with me. - Review of previous MiniLuxe Brookline, most of which still stands (4/2014): The sheer fact that you can book online ahead of time, for an exact time with the exact services you want, and even select your preferred technician, is enough to make me a fan. But then you add in the fact that MiniLuxe is sparkling clean, with friendly staff (where else do you have the receptionist calling to suggest an available time you might have overlooked?), who you can actually clearly communicate well with (no offense to the non-native English speakers, but I've had a lot lost in translation in the past which is not ideal) means I can see myself returning. I had previously been a fan of NailBar but didn't have the time to get all the way over there from Coolidge, so I decided to check out the much closer MiniLuxe. I had the salon almost to myself because I came straight from work on a weekday, and it was a pretty relaxing experience. I was greeted with a glass of water, and the receptionist was kind enough to walk me through how things work at MiniLuxe (here's the polish wall, etc), and they had some great colors to choose from. Annie did my mani and she was sweet and gentle, and H Phan did my pedi and was thorough and attentive; I'd recommend them both, especially since they seemed just fine with me preferring to drift off into space rather than carry on small talk. Now, MiniLuxe wasn't perfect; it is indeed more expensive than most places, yet the result is pretty standard/comparable (with no massage chairs!), so I leave it up to you to decide whether the extra cost is worth it. To begin with, my nails had average staying power: my mani lasted like 3-4 days before some small chips started happening (5-6 days until noticeably big chips), and my pedi is still going strong a week later. Also, the actual finished polish job was pretty standard; both nail sets look pretty solid in general and I have little to complain about, but definitely not absolute perfection in case that's what you're expecting at these prices (like, if you scrutinize up close, the polish doesn't line up perfectly with the nail bed, etc... not something I really care about, but if you do, just be aware). So, I'm a happy client, and would recommend. NailBar's prices are now comparable to MiniLuxe's, and both have what I'm looking for in terms of cleanliness/sterilization/polish color/execution, but the online booking system really tips the scales in MiniLuxe's favor... it's amazing how that one little thing can make all the difference... read more
