The prenatal chiro adjustments helped with my lower back and hip pain but I was still having pelvic pain and decided to give pelvic floor therapy a try. I could have done it through my insurance for much cheaper but I didn't have a good experience through my insurance's pelvic floor therapy after my first pregnancy. Not all pelvic floor therapists are the same. She is very down to earth, knowledgable, and had lots of suggestions for stretches and exercises to help reduce my pelvic floor pain. Every time I would see her, I'd give her feedback on the stretches and exercises that she had given me for hw and she would take that feedback and build on what worked and what didn't work for me. I continued to see a reduction in my pelvic floor pain where it's now minimal and tolerable. I recommend her services. Also, she has a cute and super chill dog that hangs out in the office who will occasionally greet me for pets when I come in.

When I first came to him, I couldn't externally rotate my shoulder and struggled to get my arm overhead without insane scapular winging. I can now do both, and my winging is pretty much under control. That says a lot, especially considering I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. My surgeon has been impressed with Nick's ability to correct my STAM. Dr. Nick has identified my muscle weaknesses, prescribed the right targeted exercises, and has me log them to stay accountable. There have been strong suggestions that I consider another surgery, but Nick has also been able to keep my pain under control with effective, targeted bodywork, including cupping and massage. I've gone to PT at both UCSD and Kaiser without any success, and I'm so thankful Nick has helped me hold off on another surgery. He listens intently and navigates each session in a way that leaves you walking out feeling like you're ready to do all the things your body has been holding you back from. They don't just look at the affected area without considering how it's affecting your walk, stance, sitting, and daily life. Also the massages they would do on my shoulder really helped. My experience with the PTs was mixed. My first two sessions were with Jeff and he seemed to view work as social hour. He would give me exercises then immediately wander off to talk to another PT about his weekend or whatever else. No complaints about his knowledge or abilities as a PT, but he needs to pay more attention to patients. My last four sessions were with Madison and she was great. Much more attentive and also just generally fun to talk to. While I was doing exercises with her (or the assistant) they would walk around, look at my form, tell me where to improve so the exercises were more effective. Felt like I was getting a lot more benefit from those sessions. Overall I'd recommend them, but don't be shy about asking to switch PTs if you don't feel like you got a great one.

Finally, my doctor ordered me an MRI and I was prescribed physical therapy. I was sceptical because I had already tried physical therapy for this problem but did not see results. My doctor's office suggested Select Physical Therapy off Ruffin road. As soon as my insurance approved the PT I called Select and they were able to fit me in the very same day. I had a consultation with Jodi and within 5 minutes of talking to me she knew exactly what was wrong and was able to pin point exactly the root cause of the pain. That's when I knew this time was going to be different. Over the course of 3 months, Jodi and the team worked with me to strengthen my neck and back and most importantly provided me with the tools and knowledge I need to continue to care for myself at home. I am no longer in chronic pain and I am sleeping through the night (which my boyfriend also appreciates). I am so thankful for the care I received from Jodi and the team I cried at the end of my final visit. Jodi and the whole team was so flexible with my work schedule. One of the most concerning issues is the lack of communication and transparency. Employees often receive no notice when clients cancel sessions, resulting in wasted trips and unpaid time. In such cases, you're either told to clean the facility (an unreasonable expectation outside the role of a Behavior Technician) or you're abruptly reassigned to cover another BT's session without context or consent. The pay is among the lowest in the ABA field, especially when weighed against the emotional and physical demands of the job. The work environment is poorly maintained, with cleanliness being a recurring problem. The facility does NOT look like those posted online. The children's bathrooms and common areas are often unsanitary, raising valid concerns about hygiene, safety, and the general quality of care. A particularly troubling practice is the use of personal items like wipes brought in for one child that get used on other children, without the caregiver's knowledge. Additionally, BTs are often left in the dark about health-related issues like lice until after the situation is already "handled," which puts both staff and other clients at risk. Unsurprisingly, the company suffers from a very high turnover rate, which reflects the broader issues within the organization and further destabilizes the workplace. Overall, they show little regard for employee well-being, professional development, or proper client care. Even by looking at the reviews the only 5 star reviews are for speech therapists, not from the work being done!
