I rarely take allopurinol now. 2. Cupping on my forearms and triceps provided much needed relief, as I tend to lift heavy at the gym What didn't work for me: 1. I could not tell much difference from the cupping on my back 2. If your elbows click or pop like mine, the chances are that will persist. Do not expect that to go away. The whole wet cupping therapy is highly recommended and provide amazing relief. The part where people get freaked out about is the blood, and perhaps the meditative music doesn't help that experience. Also, the therapy sessions are not likely covered by the insurance. So it can be expensive at times. Despite a couple of downsides, I still recommend the wet cupping therapy.

The very first time I saw him was at a pain conference and he did performed wet cupping on a part of my arm and I was paid. Free for almost 3 weeks. I drove almost 3 hours the next weekend to see him again. That time he did my whole body and I was amazed at the pain relief that I got. All I can say is that if you are I any type of pain you should definitely go to Advance Sports Medicine. Thank you Azlaan for all that you have and continue to do for me.

I had a third L4-L5 disc replacement, and then told me that he was leaving for 5 days with his family, and left a PA in charge. I told her every day for 5 days in the hospital that I had severe pain, different from prior surgeries, from my left hip to knee to the inside of my left lower leg. She rolled her eyes each time and told me to push the button (for pain meds.) When Dr Mather returned and saw I hadn't eaten or slept, and was in such severe pain, he did a CT scan and at the end of his day, at 10:30 pm, he took me back to surgery. After recovery, he said, "I removed a cherry pit sized piece of disc material that I inadvertently left behind." He said it could be 2-3 months before the very irritated L4 root nerve would calm down. He kept raising my dose of pain meds as I went to follow up appointments. After 4 months, he switched me to Oxycontin because he couldn't raise the Norco dose any higher due to too much acetaminophen. He said, "In some cases like yours, the root nerve never recovers, and I'm afraid that's what happened here." I became disabled for life, I lost my beloved nursing job, and could barely do anything that I previously loved to do. He referred me to a pain clinic. I went back periodically for Dr Mather to sign for a disabled car plaquard, and the last time, he yelled at me, "I will not sign this! I did no such thing! You are no longer my patient! SECURITY! Escort this person out of my office!!" Be very careful if anything goes wrong! The only reason I didn't bring suit is I lost my 22 year old son 2 months after surgery; 2 months before being told I was disabled for life. Otherwise, it would have been an easy win. People make mistakes, but when he kicked me out of his office, and denied it all happened, that made me sick. I continue to have complications now, years later. If I could give ZERO STARS, I would.

The therapy was to target both upper and lower body and I felt it was a great benefit for me. Therapist took time to answer my questions on how or why the different excersises were a benefit. I had Murium and Traci. Nurses and CNAs were all pleasant. When I was not in my room they would look for me for required medications or lab tests. They also seem to work as a team. No task is beneath anyone. The activities director Kelli has such a nice personality that even someone like me that typically does not join in was participating. Because I did not have anyone visiting me they made a point of making me not feel alone. Many of the staff were good but I had a special thanks to Noah Teddi Alfonso Sue Kelli Drew Odette and my wound care team. I was able to heal nicely by the time I was discharged thanks to their attention and care. Only issue is with the evening shift. I think they forget at times that it is bedtime for us even if it's just a work-shift for them. They would be quite loud and slam doors. Rooms are 2 people so if someone needs to be tended to in middle of the night or is hard of hearing that's a problem too.

Rob's Review ***This is the only review you need to read to know if Thrive of Lisle is right for…read moreyou. There are many good things about Thrive of Lisle. There are also some not so good things. I will give you a work around for some of the bad things so that you can go there and get well. Let's start with the bad. Before I came there an employee by the name of Ashley called me at the hospital to welcome me. She asked if I had any concerns. I said that I needed to know that they had all of my meds. We went over the list and she said she had all but one. So I had my family bring up the one they didnt have and took it with me. That night at around 10:30 they brought three pills I had never seen before and said they may get the rest after midnight. She didnt even have the pills I brought up, in the pill cup. That was failure number one. (1-DISHONESTY ABOUT THE MEDS THEY ACTUALLY HAVE) I had to have a family member who is disabled drive up (45 minutes) with with my son who had school the next day with all my meds. I took the proper meds and they asked for me to give them the rest. I said no. The very next morning the head nurse came in to my room and told me that I, (a 59 year old man) could not keep my meds for liability issues. I told her to go to the med cart and make sure they have every single med that I need. She did and I reluctantly gave her all my meds. That night they did bring me the meds but the dosages were off. I called the head nurse and explained the dosage I need to take. (BTW-the drug in question was not a controlled substance) Failure # 2 (REFUSAL TO LISTEN TO THE PATIENT WHO KNOWS THE PROPER DOSAGES OF HIS MEDS!)The head nurse said she needed to contact a doctor to give me the proper dosage. Failure number 3.(THEY NEVER CALLED ANY OF MY DOCTORS TO GET THE CORRECT DOSAGES FROM THEM!) I told the head nurse that this is a simple problem to fix. All they needed to do was look at the prescription bottle that they took from me to verify the dose and give it to me. Failure # 4 (NOT WILLING TO TRUST MY DOCTORS DOSAGES THAT WERE SENT TO THE PHARMACIST. *STUBBORN JACKASSES*) I resolved it by calling my doctor on a Saturday and he called them and sent them a prescription order! They never apologized but finally 3 days later, after lies, patient distrust, too stubborn to read a valid prescription bottle, no contact attempts with my doctors and no apologies I was finally given my proper meds. BTW- this happened to my roommate too so this wasnt an isolated incident. I will give you the work around at the end of this review. Some other things I noticed were that the meal portion sizes are on the small side but the work around for that is to circle more things on the menu or lose a little weight like most of us need to do. Another thing is the help button. I took an average of 20 button presses and the average response time before someone came to my room was 16 minutes and 39 seconds. And last but certainly not least, your roommate knows all of your hippa protected medical issues and you know theirs. The privacy in a room of two is non existent. Now for the Good News, there are some really good things about Thrive of Lisle. 1) THEY HAVE SOME OF THE BEST PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED! 2) YOU GET TO WORK WITH THEM BOTH 6 DAYS A WEEK! if you came here needing physical and occupational therepy they will not disappoint. 3)HOSPITALITY- KELLIE KEEPS THINGS FUN BY HAVING DIFFERENT GROUP GAMES, PAINTING, PICTIONARY, YAHTZEE, RAFFLE OFF PRIZES AND MANY MORE. whatever they pay Kellie isnt enough! 4)THE PLACE IS CLEAN AND LAID OUT REALLY WELL. 5) IN GENERAL, MOST OF THE NURSES AND AIDS TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT AND ARE KIND. 6) THEY DONT TREAT PEOPLE WHO ARE IN PAIN LIKE JUNKIES! So lets get to that work around for the meds issues. You need to have family or friends that can bring you up doses of your medication for the first few nights so you can relax while they put you through med-hell. Or hide doses in your clothes or gum packages or be creative. You are not breaking any laws only their asinine policies. The people who should absolutely avoid Thrive of Lisle are those who are on critical medications like, blood thinners, anti- seizure meds, Psychotropic meds, insulin and diabetic agents, blood pressure meds, Parkenson's disease meds, heart meds, anti-rejection drugs and dont have family or friends who can sneak them up a dose the first few nights. Or if you are on the above mentioned drugs and dont want the hassle or drama of enlisting family or friends sneak you up your drugs stay away from Thrive of Lisle. If you're on non-critical drugs like birth control, thyroid hormone, statins or anything that wont put you through changes if you miss a dose or two and want some of the best physical and occupational therapy around and fun things to do before dinner I say go for it!

He spent lots of time hearing how the injury occurred, examining my son, taking the xrays, explaining the xrays to me and coming up with a recovery plan. He is a very friendly guy and was patient and answered all my questions. Do you know about growth plates? Well I am quickly becoming an expert. This practice has several locations and several specialists, so you know they have dealt with your problem before. Also the appointment phone line opens at 8 am, which is so much better than waiting until 9. So after 2 major bone injuries in my house, my new motto is to avoid the ER at all costs (not if it's really in bad shape of course). Those bozos can't read an xray to save their life! Growth plate? What's a growth plate? Did we learn about that in school? The orthopedic specialist is the way to go!

Another reviewer commented on the high cost of healthcare...this is not OAD's fault. Yes, it's expensive, but I feel like they do it right here. I did pay a lot of money for surgery, OT, etc, but I feel like I received the best care and got the most for my money. Unfortunately I think Gerry H is just a bitter person. I had a great experience with Dr. Thomas and a great experience with Linda Picchiottino (the OT specialist). I did feel like it was slightly "assembly line" at time, more so with Dr. Thomas, but you have to keep in mind, these are SPECIALISTS, all they look at, all day, is wrist and hand maladies, they know what they are looking at and they know what to do, why would you want a lot of hemming and hawing? Anyway, I would recommend this place whole-heartedly.
