First time writing on yelp, but had to sign up to let people know....most importantly the people who work and manage Pub on Pearl that your service is HORRIBLE! I have been to your establishment 6 or so times and it has yet to improve! I do not know why it is so hard to provide decent service to your customers. Your pub is not that big and yet you can not serve people in any timely manner. When you see your waitress once every 30 minutes it makes it really hard to tip well even if at all. I simply don't get it, I have never experienced such bad service in my whole life! The best thing you have going is All You Can Eat Wings and you still manage to mess that up! Wow...just what the doctor ordered!! It's so hard to find a great pub...and this place checks all the boxes! Strong drinks....check....good food....check....lots of sports....legendary regulars. Just an amazing place. Been here three times...doesn't matter who the bartender is....you'll be good. Although...a couple are spectacular. I'm a heterosexual male and have innapropriate dreams about mike and liam. But shouldn't a great bartender make you question your sexuality? Thank god for Kirstin...she reminds me who I am. Let me first qualify my review by saying I live 200 feet from this place so I want it to be good, desperately. Just isn't going to happen for this place however. If you want to get drunk all night then its alright, but dont get suckered into the food deals they have. Take my last experience for example, one hour and 7 minutes in the establishment, 2 waitress visits, and 2 baskets of wings. I couldn't even get a beer. When I did get the wings they were cold, just a total cluster in the place, I'm not sure what their problem is. This isn't an isolated incident and you should save yourself a headache and go to Gov's Park Tavern or something instead, nothing much to see here. read more

Worst "all you can eat" experience, total rip off!!! Expect to pay your way in drinks. I spent almost 1.5 hours here for "all you can eat wings" and got 1 round of 5 wings and had 3 rounds of drinks. I came here on Wednesday for all you can eat wings. I sat at my table for 10 minutes without being approached by a single employee. At this point I expressed concern to my boyfriend that we would not get our money's worth on all you can eat wings when we are not being approached by a server in 10 minutes. He insisted on staying. We decided to order drinks at the bar. After waiting another 5 or more minutes, we finally see a server at our table. She takes our all you can eat wing order. First round of 5 wings comes, server comes by while we are eating. We put in our next round of 5 wings in and another drink order. Drinks come out, but no wings. We wait and wait and wait... We need more drinks, but no sign of server. So I order another round at the bar. During this time we see the table next to us being served TWO ROUNDS OF WINGS while we still wait for our second round (with our table dirty mind you). Our server comes by asks how everything is going. She seems surprised we haven't gotten our second round of wings. Says she will check on it for us. Comes back with some lame ass excuse while we still have no wings and see every other table around us being served. We finish drinks and question if we should around a fourth round while we still wait on our second round of "all you can eat wings". Our server comes by again and we decide we are over this place, and want to leave. We wait around some more. I finally decide to go to the register at the other end of the restaurant to get my check. The server is there and tells my she's sorry and is busy while I stand there trying to pay and GTFO. It was like pulling teeth just to pay for my terrible meal. Overall I was there for almost 1.5 hours and had 1 round of 5 tiny "all you can eat wings" and 3 rounds of drinks (ordered at bar). I was still hungry after my sad excuse for wings, and went to Little Cesears on my way home for $5 ready and hot pizza. You know its bad when you go to Little Cesears after a restaurant to be full for dinner. Its not really a good deal to get $6 "all you can eat" wings, when you buy 3 rounds of drinks for every 1 round of 5 tiny wings. And we were not buying their cheap $2 pitcher of Bud light, I was ordering cocktails and my boyfriend draft Stella. Terrible service and unorganized/unmanaged staff!!! I will not return. read more

I live across the street from this god awful establishment, and if it weren't for convienience I would never go back. The service here is so atrotious, and coming from a restaurant backround, makes me so mad, I fear I might actually grind my teeth down if I stay too long. The bartenders are great on the customer service, so I hear, but the wait staff leaves A LOT to be desired. I've actually had to get up and pour my own water(after waiting 10 minutes for a refill) from the soda fountain while my waitress watched T.V. I've ordered food and waited another 10 minutes, staring at my food getting cold, before I got up and served my own table the napkins, silverware, ketchup and salt and pepper that we needed. And one more thing...it's one thing for the staff to be a little brain dead, but I'm pretty sure the owner is drinking the same kool-aid, or he would get rid of his service staff and hire brand new, professional type people. read more

$5 all you can eat wings, and they are actually big and taste pretty dang good. Hey, the more you eat the cheaper they get! Service can be extremely bad at times but that is expected when it is busy. Although there are a couple waitresses with terrible attitudes that quite often ignore you for 30-60 minutes at a time. I was tipped off by the bartender @ Krewe Crescent City BBQ about the $5 AYCE Weds wing night at Pub on Penn, so when I was in the area, I stopped in. I came in approximately 448pm. The density swelled after 5pm, almost on the dot, so expect that -- especially on Weds. The place gives off a definitive "college bar" feel. Low 20s-mid 30s types populated the room. They have a jukebox, and mostly what came out of this was reggae, jam band type music, some Queen, southern rock, and 1 or 2 harder rap songs. There are smallish flat panel TVs all over the place. It is LOUD in here. Not the inside of Beta loud when an act is there...but plenty loud. Convivial to be sure, but be prepared for that. This is not a place you would go to have an intimate convo with your loved one. The wing special started at 5pm, which was not listed on their website, so I was glad I showed up when I did. I was approached by the manager and asked if a server had seen me yet after about 5 minutes of sitting, I had to answer no -- but he did take my order for 2 Coors Lights -- and he served them up at the same time at my request. That's some bonus points. About halfway through my first beer, I got up out of my chair and asked a server if she could come to my table and take my wings order. She told me that she wasn't covering my area, and my server was "on the way in" for her shift - soooo...clearly, they have very set boundaries and aren't too aligned with pleasing the customer in a timely manner. Points lost, but whatevs, it is what it is. The server for my area showed up about 10 minutes later, and from that point on was *very* attentive for her whole area, which I do take notice of. So kudos for that. Just be aware, folks, if "your assigned server" isn't covering your area, you could have a sizable wait. I think they must be very savvy about cost-cutting measures here because they only serve up wings 5 at a time -- I was thinking it'd be 6-8. Nevertheless, I plunged into the wings with gusto. I had the "gator" dust which is a dry rub, asian and buffalo -- but where this place shines is the "spicy garlic". Emphasis on "spicy". It's not there right away, but wait about 5-ish minutes and you'll have a nice roaring fire feel on your lips from the afterburn -- I'd rank it a 7-8 on a 10 scale. It's definitely toasty. I asked the manager what went into it, thinking he'd tell me some jalapeno jelly or extract, and he mentioned cayenne pepper, black pepper and a few other savory but not heat-inducing spices, so I guess it was the cayenne that did it. Whatever the case, it's a superb choice and you could do a lot worse. They aren't the smallest wings in the world but they're far from the largest as well. About 20% of them were tiny drumstick-sized, so those were always pleasant to run across. I gobbled down 20 and wisely decided to depart feeling "stuffed" but not "nauseously overstuffed". Pretty cheap bill, was around $10 for 20 wings and 2 beers. If you're starving or like a place with some energy to it, this is a good place to check out. read more

Online they have the specials listed as 2for1 drinks - no description-no exclusions. We obviously did not get that price. I believe this is a bar that has yet to find its identity. I went in specifically to watch the pre-season Broncos game, have a beer and get some food. After I ordered I asked if the Broncos game audio could be switched on instead of the metal that they were playing over the jukebox. I was flatly told no, maybe during the regular season. I had to ask to have the Rockies game on as well since Jimenez was pitching. I will give this place another chance but if they insist on playing music during major sporting events then I think I will wait for the new Andrews on Lincoln to open up to watch sports at. The first time I went, the All You Can Eat wings were great (for bar food anyway), but the service was super slow. Despite the fact we had a horrible waitress, the wings were enough to draw me back for another try. The second time I went was the last straw. It took 20 minutes for the bartenders to get my friend and I draft beer. On a lazy Sunday afternoon watching the Patriots play in the playoffs (my home team). Note the bar was half empty. Soon after getting our beers, we noticed small shards of glass started hitting our lips; the glasses stacked on top of them cracked and they didn't bother to dispose it. Then, we notice our glasses were also slightly cracked on the bottom and leaking beer. Talk about a WTF WE COULD'VE HAD OUR ESOPHAGUSES RIPPED APART OR CUT OUR HANDS UP HAD WE NOT CAUGHT THIS? I play pool here semi-regularly on Thursday nights and it's nearly impossible to get a beverage or a menu in the back and when the food finally does arrive, it's cold... (this happened three times, shame on me for trying again and again!). The wait staff has maybe one girl who kicks total butt, but the other staffers don't seem to care much about the level of service they're delivering. Though the food is not bad, it's tough to get it to your table warm. Also, parking is kind of tough, but I think that may just be part of the package in that particular neighborhood. The oddest thing is that the GM (when he's not running around everywhere) seems to care how his guests are doing. Something isn't translating, though... In summary, I never go to this place unless I have to. There are plenty of other bars in the neighborhood with trivia, warm food and great service. The uppercrusty of the Capital Hill bar scene must include Pub on Penn.. I haven't quite put all the pieces together but I'll tell you what I do know. This place seems to be on some sort of reckless cosmic inter-loop of happy hours.. Every time I come here there is some sort of ridiculous food or drink special.. I seem to always have a good time here and its conveniently located within the hustle an bustle of the hipster wonderland but some how Bermuda Triangle's itself on its own (most of the time)... Definitely one of my favorite bars in Denver. read more

Fun laid back bar. They bought in a new manager, Liam, who has cleaned the place up a bit. We were only drinking beer and it was cold. They do have a full bar. We also had an order of the wings...YUM. The nachos were another story...not very good. Had a great mix of people so there is some good watching to be had. Perfect atmosphere for someone in their twenties. Wednesday nights they have $5 all you can eat wings with a variety of sauces to choose from. I ordered the gator dust which is a dry rub and very good with just the right amount of spice to it. Pub on Penn reminds me of a few bars back at college. The cheap drinks and cheap food specials definitely add to the college like atmosphere. Most noted for the $5 all you can eat wings on Wednesday nights along with $8 pitchers, you can't help but look back at the cheaper years of your life. Oh Pub on Penn, do you sometimes have service that is a bit slow? Sure. However, are the servers super nice? Yes. Also, I must say that the management staff seems to actually care if the patrons are enjoying themselves, the drinks and the food. That is awesome.
