Went here the other night after a baseball game, cold and hungry. Service was friendly and prompt. I had the fish and chips, 2 huge pieces of fish, fabulous French fries and delicious coleslaw. The fish was flaky and not greasy. We all agreed that the fries were some of the best we've ever had. The coleslaw had a kick, very good. Other members of our group got burgers. They were huge!! Service was fine, server was very friendly - app was brought out with the meal which is always a little annoying but whatever. Food was just really bad. How can you mess up spinach artichoke dip? It was nearly inedible, watery - and served with 3 small crackers. The fried chicken was served with a biscuit which just crumbled into nothing. The brick chicken was so overcooked I left most of it. Kids menu states all items come with apples and carrots, but the server said, "we don't always have them." They did not come with either of these things. I rarely feel regret when a restaurant misses the mark, but I left feeling really bummed about spending $140 for this dinner. What a waste. read more

Had lunch here with a coworker and had the ahi poke tacos. Not a huge dish but enough for lunch and very tasty. Loved the avocado wasabi mousse. My coworker had the Pub burger which looked juicy. Service was quick and attentive. The place definitely has that brew pub / taproom vibe. I've eaten here more times than I can count before Covid, during, etc., and most times they didn't seem to disappoint. I mean sitting outside, which is nice on a nice day/evening is great except for the tons of flies that always seem to be on the patio, but if you can tolerate that it's great especially if you want to bring your furry friend, which I have done a couple of times. And they have water bowls on the patio for your pets which is a nice touch. Unfortunately a few weeks ago it was a total let down. There were 3 of us on this particular weekend night, and it wasn't very busy inside or outside. It took about 5 tries before someone would actually close the shade where the sun was gleaming in blinding me (each time we would ask, the wait staff would say sure then nothing would transpire, and I feel bad if someone is sitting at a table eating that I have to bother myself to get the shade closed). With the number of tries it took to get one simple request done, that should've given us our first hint that it could get worse. We placed our food order (Seafood Pappardelle, Fish & Chips with sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, Sesame Crusted Ahi) along with 2 iced teas with lemon and 1 Blue Moon. Instead of lemon in each iced tea one had lemon, one had lime, and the Blue Moon had lemon though nothing was ordered with it. That should've been our second hint. Then it came time for the food to come out. The only meal that came out correct was the Sesame Crusted Ahi. The Fish & Chips with a sub of sweet potato fries came out with regular fries and the Seafood Pappardelle came out as a bowl of mussels only. Well it took a bit to flag someone down, anyone in fact but we finally did and got the mussels to be what was ordered, Seafood Pappardelle. It took a tad longer to get my Fish & Chips back but when they did the sweet potato fries were hot & crispy but the fish was now luke warm. Then I did the unthinkable which made my fish even colder....I asked for malt vinegar, or at least I tried to get the attention of our waiter. Finally I had to get up and asked the person behind the bar for malt vinegar. I had to be careful pouring it as the bottle did not have one of those plastic shaker things in it so it just all came out at once. Nothing like having your fish swimming in a pool of malt vinegar. Yes, they are a bit pricey but a big chunk of that is due to the fact that they have to pay high prices for the ingredients they are purchasing.....dare I say it, it's Covid prices and it's a shame that other business take advantage of other businesses and restaurants when it comes to the cost of things but it is what it is and it all trickles down to the consumer. I get that they are paying more (heard that one local place is now paying 4 times as much for flour) and since it is costlier (not their fault) than I would like to pay I'll probably take a short break from coming here as I can't afford to pay these prices for mixed up meals, employees who may or may not want to work or are just burnt out from working, and luke warm food. I will say they have an awesome beet salad and their sweet potato fries are addictive!! read more

For my meal I had the Sesame Crusted Ahi that sat on a bed of wasabi mashed potatoes. Just to let people know, just because it's wasabi doesn't mean it will have that nasal passage clearing kick to it that you can find from eating wasabi at a sushi restaurant. The crusted ahi gave the dish texture since it is paired with veggies and mashed potatoes but I do wish that the ahi was bigger and not as dry. The meal in general is definitely filling but kinda leaves you wanting more flavor. At a price point of $26 before tax this dish is a little disappointing and I do think it is overpriced but I can't really speak on the other dishes. I've been here a few times during my lunch break to grab appetizers and I can say it's hit or miss depending on the day whether it will be busy or not, I do have an issue that the service is very slow no matter how busy it is though. read more

The tater tots were not the tots I expected. Flavor was pretty good with a hint of spiciness. Definitely wanted something more crunchy. They kinda melted in your hand and seemed undercooked. The salad had fresh ingredients which worked well, but was tiny. The hash had decent cream sauce, with not enough veggies, and dry chicken. The mac n cheese was decent. I liked the crumbles but not really saucy. Pricey honestly, and the experience just threw it off. Having to wait forever and call people down multiple times throughout doesn't work well for anyone. Went for a quick Monday night dinner this week! Hadn't been to Pub Republic in a couple years so wanted to try it out again. Our server was great! Very sweet and attentive. It wasn't busy which was nice. To drink, I got the raspberry sparkler which was pretty good. Food wise my friend got a burger and I got the fish and chips. A friend and I enjoyed dinner here last night. I had a craft beer. My friend had a customized burger and I had the special grilled chicken salad. My friend thought the burger was great. My chicken was cooked perfectly and had great flavor and the salad was delicious. The customer service was very good. I guess the downside was the price of the salad and the beer. The pint of beer was $9. And the salad was $23. Way too much. My gosh t's a salad with maybe 4-5 slices of chicken. A guess would it was about 6 oz of chicken. Plenty of chicken for the meal but too expensive. Also disappointing was the fact that they charged a cost of living charge, which was greatly annoying and the fact that they charged tax on it. I can't quite remember but I think it was 3 percent. Most people tip on subtotal which included the fee. If PR feels the need to charge this fee, it should be included after the subtotal so it is not taxed and tipped on. Just not right. read more

We dined here when we first moved to Petaluma nearly 4 years ago. The place was hopping and packed. Sports games were on the TV's above the bar, a variety of local and independent beers on tap. The place was alive! Service was friendly and fast. At the time, I ordered their "non-meat" burger. I am pretty sure it was the Impossible burger but when we ventured to dine here a few years later, I was promptly told it was the "vegetarian." Ok, perhaps I was mistaken. We we're about to be seated in the secondary area, that was dark, and away from the TV's, energy of the room and bar. I asked if we could be seated on the other side. "No one puts Baby in the corner!" First strike. The bench seat looked as though it had a stain from water damage. Perhaps they had leaks from the incessant rain we have had the past 4 months. Half a strike. My walk to the bathroom was met with a dirty door, no soap in the dispenser and a carpet that hadn't been swept or vacuumed. Strike 4.5. The amount of dust on the lighting above had me worried dust bombs were going to drop in my food, if it ever arrived. We waited a good 20-30 minutes for cold food to arrive. My husbands fries were limp and cold. My ahi tuna tacos were so unappealing. The fish was brown. It straight up looked like square chunks of poop! I sent my food back without ordering a replacement. My husband voiced his displeasure at the cold food. At this stage I would have been happy to run to In N Out. Our server brought out a fresh plate which was piping hot. Too bad the taste of all of those strikes left me ready to run home! There was a baseball game I was watching so don't mind the puns. Anyway, I don't know if they changed ownership or what but I will not be returning. They need a full on cleaning crew in there. If I can see how filthy it is on the outside, image what it looks like behind closed doors. Bye! I ordered the Brick Chicken which was very tasty. My dining partner ordered the Fish and Chips. She was disappointed because the so-called beer batter did not appear to be that. I've had different bartenders and waiters each time and each and every time they have been the exemplary model of what customer service should be in the restaurant/bar business. They go out of their way to acknowlede every customer immediately. And even if they are busy, they make the customer feel important and that they are getting the best service they can provide. And they in fact are! Now on to the food: Exceptional! Try the cajun shrimp or callamari. Bot are fantastic and there is a brussel sprout / avacodo taco that is to die for. I know...sounds wierd but damn...it is awesome! Everything that I've seen come out of their kitchen makes me want to come back. They have a great beer selection. They were good, but maybe not quite what I expected. And the grits could have used a lot more cheese lol! My son decided he wanted lunch food. He's got the appetite of a baby bird and had three bites of his mac n cheese, but he ate all his apples and one baby carrot lol! I had a bite of his mac, and I thought it was good. He just wasn't very hungry. My girlfriends had the chicken and french toast, and the biscuits and gravy. They also liked theirs. We were all very full. The jam that came with the side of biscuits was also super yummy. Our waitress was just fine. Maybe took a little bit of time to take our order, especially since it was not crowded at all. This spot is a solid go to. I recently visited for happy hour and they have quite the menu. I personally didn't care for the tater tots, but that's really because they weren't your traditional tot. They were large and very much like mashed potatoes on the inside and they just weren't my jam. However, I loved the mini duck tacos and the sliders were great too! The server was so nice and accommodating, as I am picky when it comes to condiments and things on my burger- he got it made just how I wanted. Asked for my home fries crispy they came deep fried nearly burnt no soft spudiness left at all. Nice service. Disappointing brunch, a biscuit doesn't make up for bland, poor execution. Pub Republic breaks our heats a lil more each time. It could be SO MUCH MORE. Consistent execution, solve the flies inside issue get liquor we'd come out a bunch you'd make tons of money.
