Not much open on Thanksgiving, so it was a nice surprise to find this place open, and close to the movie theater. It's in the same building as the Boulevard Theater on the Petaluma Blvd road side. It's cute and quaint. Lots of seating. I was greeted immediately and told to have a seat and they'd get to me. It was very busy, though I wasn't in a hurry. I ordered the French toast combo with gluten-free toast. They had to have added egg nog to the egg dip, as that was what it tasted like. Loved that touch. It was worth the wait.

Yup is is right on the main drag

Space is light and airy. Tall glass windows looking out on to Petaluma Blvd gives a wonderful view of the goings on while having lunch or breakfast. Between the 3 of us we had their BLT on rye , vegetarian on sourdough, and a breakfast scramble with a fun mango mimosa. Did not get the name of our server but this guy was Great! Fun , knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating-said I could relax but could not take off my shoes and engaging. Service was prompt and even though they close at two they did not kick us out at 2. Encouraged us to stay a little longer until the No Kings crowd had cleared out so we weren't fighting traffic to get home. Very thoughtful of them to look out for us like that. Highly recommend if there is another No Kings walk getting here ahead of time. It is a very comfortable front row seat to clever signs and interesting people watching.

We had a wonderful visit - our first time at the sunny, inviting North Bay Cafe. Our server greeted us warmly, then set to work getting our beverages. The menu was full of great-looking options, including many gluten-free items. The food was delicious, and our server had deep experience, including how to please a three year-old. The portions were large, so we got to take home some leftovers. I tipped our server 25%, probably the second time in my life that I've thought so much about food service performance. Way to go, Alex! We're spending time with family in Petaluma. And I'm already looking forward to our next visit. We will definitely be back for more!

2 eggs over easy with a ham steak. A large bowl of fruit, and coffee!

I was expecting somewhat of a busy restaurant but it was actually pretty dead for 9 AM on a Saturday morning There were many things on the menu that sounded good but I'm not really doing white carbs right now so I was able to limit my choices easily. This seems like a family business and I felt right at home with a nice greeting and friendly interactions with the various staff. I ended up ordering the egg plate with ham and fruit. I mentioned that I wasn't interested in the toast or dollar cakes and my waitress asked if I'd like more fruit. I said "yes" and "thanks very much!". Although the ham was a bit bland (I should be grateful that it wasn't too salty), there was a ton of food and I was pretty full when I left. I would definitely recommend North Bay Cafe for breakfast and I would try them for lunch too!

Service was great, very friendly and a good sense of humor which I always appreciate. Food was good, coffee was great and the hot chocolate was the best I've found so far on my quest for the best hot cocoa (I'd give it a 7/10 - I'm pretty picky with my cocoa) Enjoyed a nice meal with my kid. 7/10 will come back.

    The food was... Just ok!!!

You have to love the vibe of this place on a Sunday morning. My wife and I visited while driving through Petaluma, so so good! I had the veggie omelet, a side of bacon and a side of sausage. My wife had the quesadilla. You have to love the food and the service here. This place is a definite when in or traveling through Petaluma.

After spending the night at Bodega Bay, my husband and I were looking for a spot to eat breakfast. Passing through Petaluma we spotted "North Bay Cafe". As soon as we walked in we were greeted so we felt welcome. The gentleman that served us was super nice My husband had the green chilaquiles which he was very satisfied with his plate. I had the chorizo avocado omelette super tasty. We are planning on bringing our son and his family to try it.

Once they used to have organic ketchup in this place, first rate ! Now they've downgraded to "fancy..." But still Great service. Great location. No downsides to this wonderful restaurant except for the Smuckers (high fructose corn syrup) jelly they serve PLUS fresh-squeezed orange juice. Wowza.

Brunch time had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant it was fresh, hot, and not salty. Other places can overdo meal size this was perfect. Nice staff and clean restaurant.

Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.

The service was outstanding from start to finish, but what really impressed me was seeing Chef/Owner Tony Najiola actively overseeing every aspect of the operation. He visited tables, checked on guests, and was clearly involved in every detail of the dining experience. That's something you rarely see anymore, especially from a restaurant owner who has been doing this for more than two decades, and it deserves to be applauded. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The shoestring zucchini was a great starter, the lobster risotto was rich and perfectly prepared, and the Testarossa pizza was absolutely outstanding. Pairing it all with a Pliny the Elder made for a perfect Sonoma County dinner. Central Market isn't just a great restaurant, it's the kind of place that reminds you why locally owned restaurants matter. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Petaluma.

This review is not a reflection of the restaurant's food, service, or dining experience. In November 2025 I purchased a $150 gift card through Central Market's website via Toast. The gift card was never received. I first reached out in February 2026 to inquire about the missing gift card. Tony responded the following day suggesting that I may have been scammed. After I clarified that the purchase was made directly through Central Market's website, he acknowledged that he had misunderstood, stated that this was a known issue, and told me he would contact Toast to investigate. March 2026: A month passed with no update whatsoever. I called the restaurant and spoke with Tony directly. He told me that I would need to contact Toast myself--a completely different answer from what had previously been discussed. April 2026: I informed Tony via email that Toast's customer service system specifically states that support is intended for restaurant businesses, not customers. I followed up again by email on 4/30 asking if he had received my message and whether there was any update. I have received no response since. What is most disappointing is the lack of clarity and consistency throughout this process. At various points, I was told I may have been scammed, then told it was a known issue that would be investigated, and finally told to resolve it myself through a company that does not provide support to customers in this situation. Not once was there a proactive update, clear explanation, or meaningful attempt to resolve the issue. More than five months after paying $150, I still do not have the gift card (which was intended as a Christmas present for a close friend), a refund, or even the courtesy of a response to my follow-up emails. When a business takes a customer's money, there should be some level of accountability when something goes wrong. At this point, I can only conclude that customer service is not a priority. The complete lack of communication and follow-through has left me feeling that my concerns--and my business--simply do not matter. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others against purchasing gift cards through their website.
