First time here and will definitely be back! Came for lunch on a sunday and the ambience and patio setting in and of its self was such a delightful treat. Our server Brian was thoroughly knowledgeable about the food and preparation of every dish, while being personable and friendly throughout the entire meal. I was wildly impressed with the efficiency of the kitchen getting food out as well. We had the guava cucumber mocktails which were refreshing and crisp, as well and ginger beer and it was great! The brisket tacos were cooked to perfection and the puree at the bottom of the taco is such a great suprise! My husband got the bahn mo special and I of course stole a bite or two. It was so fresh and falvorful. The fries were tossed in soy sauce syrup and green onions and were mind blowingly good. The entire staff was warm and pleasant. Granted, it was in the winter (though with great weather), but we were able to get a last-minute reservation at Lo & Behold (which was recommended by a local). Our group shared everything and I liked them most in the following order: - Macha fries (not like the tea! More like nacho fries) - Short rib tacos - Burger - Crab salad - Chicken tendies They have an enticing list of cocktails. So we walked in, the staff seemed more excited about the dogs than us -- which we totally understand. We finally had a chance to visit Downtown Healdsburg. It's a lovely area to stroll around during the holidays. In my Yelp search for best kid friendly restaurants in the area, Lo & Behold Bar and Kitchen was at the top of the list. The ambiance is inviting and festive. Our server Alvaro was entertaining and provided us with most popular dishes. We ordered all his recommendations. They have happy hour on drinks 3pm-5pm daily. The Asian Fusion dishes were unique & tasty. Curry Deviled Eggs was quite interesting. My son loved it. Korean Babyback Riblets was delicious. It was savory. The Asian Pear salad paired well with it. Macha fries was a nice shareable also. Housemade Kimchi Noodles had flat noodles which we didn't expect but the taste was great with the kimchi flavor and crunchy daikon. Parking is accessible on the street all around Healdsburg square and a nearby parking lot. The beautiful modern decor was bright and vibrant. I enjoyed the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. A spacious patio in the back looked lively with heat lamps and tables all around. There was a full bar with high tops that looked inviting as well. We ordered 2 sangrias and a glass of Chardonnay wine from the happy hour menu. For food we shared deviled eggs, riblets, macha fries, and kimchi noodles. Everything was delicious. The sangrias were sweet and refreshing. I particularly enjoyed the deviled eggs which were scrumptious and the riblets were juicy and tender. The unique kimchi noodles were flavorful. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Lo & Behold. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I thought the complementary bar snacks of wasabi peas and pickled veggies was a nice touch. Ever feel late to the party? I've had this restaurant on my "to try" list for such a LONG while and then ended up here twice in one week! First visit was a brunch with my girlfriends, second was a date with my hubby and BOTH visits to Lo & Behold delivered an exceptional dining experience. We had reservations (which initially I scoffed because ...well... weekday) but I'm glad we did! I ordered the Brazen Burger with fries and it was all delicious! The bun looked disproportionally huge but was so good. Soft, griddled just right, and never overwhelming. The house-made pickles added the perfect balance to the meaty burger, and I didn't miss having a sauce at all. The fries were crispy, and I happily stole some of my friend's L&B ranch for dipping. Since it was raining the first time and we sat indoors, I was clueless to the incredible outdoor patio which is where we sat the second time. Great atmosphere with ambient lighting and cranked up heaters which kept us cozy all night. Hubby made reservations for Saturday night and so glad we did! The place was ABSOLUTELY packed. We scored a couple seats at the bar while we waited and loved the engagement with both the bar staff and the patrons to our left and right. It was just so comfortable. (And honestly, if we'd wanted a quieter, just-us experience, we could've had that too.) After some back on forth on the unique cocktail options, I ordered Field of Dreams, hubby chose (multiple pours) of Inman Family Pinot and both were a perfect start. For dinner, we shared: Curry Deviled Eggs - Ugh, so good! Simple Salad - Ironically, anything but "simple"! Much bigger than anticipated. The tiki bar vibe is strong--inside is cozy and dim with banquettes and tables, while the patio outside has plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. They came out to ask what we wanted pretty quickly, though definitely took a few minutes to figure out what we wanted in terms of starters and entrees. They have a good cocktail menu full of interesting drinks. I didn't note the exact name of mine, it was kind of like Bee's Knees but isn't exactly like that drink. It was really good. We absolutely loved the mushroom pie starter, easily one of the most delicious things with a creamy umami taste. My friend said she would have just ordered one as her entree since she liked it so much, and the whole thing is like a small entree size. I really enjoyed the mezze platter, a vegetarian selection including halloumi cheese and delicious chickpeas. There is ample seating area inside and outside and the decor is picturesque filled with plants hanging on the ceiling which who doesn't love that? We ordered the kimchi noodles and the noodles were PERFECT! Love the chewiness and has a good amount of kimchi. We also ordered the fries and it was packed with flavor. Not too salty and no where near bland. They have HH from 3pm-5pm daily which run about $9 per drink. I ordered the tequila water and punch but enjoyed the punch more (definitely much sweeter). I was really excited to finally try the "Best Bar and Best Restaurant in Healdsburg." First of all, the ambiance is a 10/10. The restaurant feels spacious yet cozy with the decor, and the outdoor patio is beautiful, with heaters for when it gets cold. We did a walk-in as a group of 5 on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. Looking at the menu, it definitely leans Vietnamese fusion, which was new for me since I am Vietnamese/Korean and usually stick to authentic spots, but we decided to be adventurous! We ordered: * Smoked trout appetizer 0/5 * Kimchi noodles 5/5 * Mezze plate 4/5 * Vietnamese steak 4/5 * Riblets 5/5 I would definitely skip the smoked trout salad, it was really salty and the nuoc mam dressing was way too overpowering. That was definitely our least favorite. The kimchi noodles were absolutely delicious. Super chewy with amazing texture. I would also highly recommend the riblets with the Asian pear slaw. The riblets were super tender and the slaw had the perfect acidity and brightness! The mezze plate was fun to share and great for trying different things. It felt a little out of place on a mostly Vietnamese fusion menu, but we still enjoyed it. The Vietnamese steak on the skewer was really good, but the chimichurri and nuoc mam style sauce was the real star! t was so unique and tasty. Overall, we had a great time at Lo and Behold and would come back in the future. I am still not sure if Vietnamese fusion is for me, but the menu is fun and creative, and our server was very sweet and attentive. Just off the square in downtown Healdsburg, Lo & Behold is a fun Asian fusion cocktail bar and kitchen that doesn't take themselves too seriously. Come for a drink at the bar, sit in their front lounge, dine on their back covered, heated patio with a large group of friends, L&B has it all. With their Vietnamese, comfort food flare, we opted to sit inside and try some of the fan favorites. The ahi tuna tostada had big chunks of tuna with a salsa matcha butter that makes this dish delectable. The Korean babyback riblits were a game changer - tons of flavor on top of an Asian pear salad. It was the combo you didn't know you needed. For mains, we went with the housemade kimchi noodles and the almost famous chicken tendies (with a name like that, how could you not?). The noodles were the perfect balance of chewy, crunchy and vinegary. You don't need to add a protein, but the dish holds it weight without it. The chicken tenders were essentially buttermilk fried chicken in three large pieces. The only issue we had with this was they were TOO over battered (more breading/batter than meat), and the batter didn't actually adhere to the meat. Good flavor but could have been a touch better.
