Out of all the places we had dinner in wine country, I can definitely say this place was my favorite. We had reservations for lunch as we had a big group and a pup. First off, they were so welcoming when we checked in. And I love that it's so pet friendly. Hostess that checked us in was a doll. The inside decor and the layout was so cute. One side is the hostess counter and right across from there is a waiting lounge area which I believe is also utilized for dining. Walking through, they have indoor seating to one side and the bar area to the opposite. Also dining available along the hi top bar counter. We had a big group which they had us set up on the patio. Another beautiful layout. It's like dining in a community garden slash secret garden. Our waitress who took care of us was amazing. So sweet and very friendly. Not just her but the entire staff there. Menu wise looked amazing. Also it was also a recommendation from one of the staff at a winery we were just at. Drink menu was quite huge too. Of course food was on our mind and it did not disappoint. Big group meant a lot of share plates to start off. A double of things ordered to start off. Daily crudo which was served with wonton chips. Fresh fish with all spices and marinaded. It was fresh and delicious. You gotta have oysters if it's available. Curry deviled eggs was quite tasty as well. Your classic eggs with a little twist. Mushroom egg rolls were a hit. It literally came piping hot so it was a little wait till we enjoy it and it was delicious. Came with two dipping sauce which paired very well. Salsa macha fries, similar concept as the elote corn with the coltija cheese, lime creme and cilantro. Brisket can also be added which we opted out for. Then there was the grilled Vietnamese steak with the not so sticky rice in a cube form. Cooked perfectly and the crunchiness of the rice was perfect. Also the dipping sauce was great. Beef brisket tacos were another hit. Two orders and loaded with meat and all the topping. Very flavorful and delicious. Cant come here and not have their almost famous chicken tenders. Big chunks of chicken battered and fried to a nice golden color. It was so juicy and served with pickle chips and dipping. You can have it hot or now with the sauce. Crispy duck confit was delicious. Nice potion of duck with bitter greens and duck fat potatoes. Brazen burger, which was pretty massive. Classic burger but better and with bacon and fries. Then you have the kimchi noodles, added chicken and shrimp or without. That dish was tasty. You either love kimchi or not and the way it was prepared with pasta, delicious. And lastly, the special was a hot ham sandwich I believe. Served with potatoes salad and gherkins. It was a hefty sandwich with loads of meat and cheese. Simply but so good. Food was excellent as we literally had loads from the menu. Of course loads of recommendations which I know why. The food was exceptional and service was great. Restaurant is beautiful and service was excellent. Also they're so pet friendly. Plus, we ordered a dog patty for the pup and it was quite tasty...lol.... Can't wait to come back, hopefully soon. This mezcal-based cocktail with cucumber, mint, shiso and adornments is great for a summer eve. - Misspent Youth - another gin-based cocktail, but with a sweeter tilt offered up by the addition of galiano, pineapple, and coconut - think Hawaii sans rum. THE FOOD: a little hit or miss for us; maybe explore more of the menu next time - Griddled Crab Cakes* - were mushy and almost tartar-like, and the ham hock flavor overpowered the crab. Won't re-order - Mezze Plate - Best plate of the bunch; flavorful and spicy. Would do this one again - Beef Brisket Tacos* - Too salty and the brisket was tough and stringy. I don't typically leave reviews, whether positive or negative, but I feel this experience deserves to be shared. On 6/28, I dined at Lo and Behold with my wife and two friends. I feel it's relevant to mention that I am an Indian man, born and raised in Ohio, and the other three members of our party, including my wife, are Caucasian. We were having a political discussion at our table. We had visited a winery beforehand, so I'll acknowledge that our conversation may have been louder than average, but there was no arguing, disruptive behavior, or inappropriate language. My wife, who was part of the main conversation, was not even drinking alcohol. After taking our drink order, our server returned and refused to serve alcohol--but only to me. When we respectfully asked why, he stated that he could not serve me because of my accent. Wanting to be absolutely certain we understood him correctly, my wife asked, "Just to clarify, you're telling us that you're refusing to serve only my brown husband because of his accent?" He confirmed that was the reason. I'm sure the restaurant may later claim the decision was based on intoxication, but that was not the explanation we were given. The first two reasons provided were explicitly that it was because of my accent. For the record, I don't believe I even have an accent--but even if I did, that should never be grounds to refuse service. We left without eating, though we still paid for the drinks that had already been served. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously, because no guest should be singled out and denied service for something like this. read more

We finally had a chance to visit Downtown Healdsburg. It's a lovely area to stroll around during the holidays. In my Yelp search for best kid friendly restaurants in the area, Lo & Behold Bar and Kitchen was at the top of the list. The ambiance is inviting and festive. Our server Alvaro was entertaining and provided us with most popular dishes. We ordered all his recommendations. They have happy hour on drinks 3pm-5pm daily. The Asian Fusion dishes were unique & tasty. Curry Deviled Eggs was quite interesting. My son loved it. Korean Babyback Riblets was delicious. It was savory. The Asian Pear salad paired well with it. Granted, it was in the winter (though with great weather), but we were able to get a last-minute reservation at Lo & Behold (which was recommended by a local). They have a good cocktail menu full of interesting drinks. I didn't note the exact name of mine, it was kind of like Bee's Knees but isn't exactly like that drink. It was really good. We absolutely loved the mushroom pie starter, easily one of the most delicious things with a creamy umami taste. My friend said she would have just ordered one as her entree since she liked it so much, and the whole thing is like a small entree size. I really enjoyed the mezze platter, a vegetarian selection including halloumi cheese and delicious chickpeas. Initially enjoyed the appetizers and drinks, and thought they were great, but overheard at a table behind us that the waiter refused to serve a brown-skinned customer because of their accent... which was a huge red flag. The food was okay, but atmosphere regarding our waiter and the management left a really negative taste in my mouth. Truthfully, I won't be back, regardless of the food, simply because of the underlying racism that was evident here. Worth noting we went to spoonbar across the street and made a comment about what happened and the bartender there said they weren't surprised given the restaurants history. I was really excited to finally try the "Best Bar and Best Restaurant in Healdsburg." First of all, the ambiance is a 10/10. Looking at the menu, it definitely leans Vietnamese fusion, which was new for me since I am Vietnamese/Korean and usually stick to authentic spots, but we decided to be adventurous! We ordered: * Smoked trout appetizer 0/5 * Kimchi noodles 5/5 * Mezze plate 4/5 * Vietnamese steak 4/5 * Riblets 5/5 I would definitely skip the smoked trout salad, it was really salty and the nuoc mam dressing was way too overpowering. That was definitely our least favorite. The kimchi noodles were absolutely delicious. Super chewy with amazing texture. I would also highly recommend the riblets with the Asian pear slaw. The riblets were super tender and the slaw had the perfect acidity and brightness! The mezze plate was fun to share and great for trying different things. It felt a little out of place on a mostly Vietnamese fusion menu, but we still enjoyed it. The Vietnamese steak on the skewer was really good, but the chimichurri and nuoc mam style sauce was the real star! t was so unique and tasty. Went for lunch today and the hostess was so unbelievably rude we almost walked out. I just asked for a high chair for my toddler and she sighed, rolled her eyes at me and went "at least let me get the table first." I figured she'd want to know that request when choosing a table and seating us. Either way, never been treated so rudely at a restaurant before, especially after a basic, polite request. Truly awful. Thankfully our server Bryan was very warm and helpful, so we decided to stay. We loved all the dishes we got, and definitely recommend sharing a variety of things. The cocktails were great too. What a great little gem that my husband found! He enjoyed grilled (stuffed) squid which was incredible. My burger and fries were perfect! The bun looked great but it was just a lot. Service was great and the vibe was just perfect! read more
