First off the 4 hours that they're open is tough to catch. Second the portion size and quality of the food is so underwhelming. I ordered the summer salad for $12 with grilled chicken added for another $7. The chicken was half a thin sliced chicken breast. I also ordered the 2 lobster rolls with chips for $30. We were visiting the area and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. The Caesar salad had crunchy, fresh baby romaine and shredded Parmesan. I had fish and chips, and the haddock had a light beer batter. The hand-cut fries were deliciously thin and crispy. My husband's Cajun shrimp Alfredo was freshly made and mildly spiced with plenty of shrimp. The caramel apple crisp was big enough to share and chock full of apples, crumbly topping, whipped cream, and ice cream! Most importantly for us, there were many gluten-free options. It was a soup chili..it was OK, definitely needed more seasoning. The 5 for Fries app was the best thing we ate, fries, beer cheese, chicken & bacon. It was really good! I ordered the Gorgon burger. Ordered it med rare and it was perfectly cooked. It has gorgonzola cheese, bacon, and a sweet relish. The flavor was just bland, considering so many different flavors on it. They have changed their focus and now do not have pizza. However, we loved the items we got! My husband had the Chicken Pie and I had the Hunter Pasta. The Chicken Pie had a creamy chicken and vegetable mix with a fresh, big biscuit on top. My pasta had a light application of a creamy sauce with grilled asparagus and grilled chicken breast. There was also some pieces of hard salami in the mix which added to the hearty flavor. I would recommend both. Our server was polite and attentive. Had a delicious but patience testing dinner here a few weeks back. Came across this restaurant here on yelp and the menu looked so good that we drove about 40 minutes to dine here. We got in a little before 6pm, just as it was starting to get busy, but luckily we got the table right away. Taste: 4.5/5 For appetizer we had the fries that had chicken and melted cheese on them. It was really good. We also had one of the special of the night- corn chowder soup for appetizer. It was phenomenal. It has to be one of the BEST corn chowders we have ever eaten. Just a note, they have their specials written near the pizza station, at a spot you can easily miss. So keep an eye out. We spotted it by chance and so glad that we did. For main, we shared the black bean sweet potato burger and it was AMAZING! The patty seems like it was fried, so that gave it such an amazing crust on the outside yet it was perfectly soft inside. The flavor was on point as well. Service: 2/5 Service was spotty, the guy never mentioned the specials they had. We accidentally saw them and ordered the soup and SO GLAD that we did! For most of the time we were there, he did not check on us even once. We waited for about an hour for our burger, but he not even once came by himself to let us know what was taking so long. We had to flag him down after about 45 minutes to ask about our order, for which he just shrugged and said it will be out soon. Wait times: 1/5 It was ridiculously long, we waited for about 25 minutes for our appetizer of fries and soup and a little over an hour for the Black Bean burger. The restaurant wasn't crazy busy, in the sense that about 80% of the tables were occupied but there was hardly anyone waiting to be seated. When we placed the order, we asked the server if he could give us a side salad instead of the fries that came with the burger, since we had already eaten fries for our appetizer. He said "absolutely" but never told us that they would end up charging us $4. We only came to know once we got the check. It literally was a tiny bowl of mixed greens, 2 pieces of cucumber and 3 cherry tomatoes. We did not even bother bringing it up as the server was a little grumpy and we were so done with our super long dinner that we just wanted to get out. We stopped in after a morning spent on the trails. The five minute fries are amazing and the steak pizza is even better. Thin crust but perfect chew, my absolute favorite kind of pizza crust. Love this place! Every time I'm in Gorham we have to stop here. I always enjoy my meal. They have great appetizers, burgers, stir fry, vegan options and more. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. The big windows and high ceilings make this place feel roomy. Tables are comfortably spaced. Will keep coming back every chance I get. read more

Wasn't easy to find a place that had no reservation policy on Saturday in Gorham, Public house eatery initially seemed promising following the nice reviews it had on Yelp, obviously I wasn't planning to leave 1 star review, nevertheless I would put -1 star if I could. I'll start from the end and will try to be objective. So here you go: first time in my life we were kicked out from a restaurant (me, wife and our 3 kids) in a middle of eating, and why is that? It's because the owner of the place (Teresa) considered disrespectful the fact that I didn't like her main dish (steak tips) , it was truly tasteless and one of the worst steak tips I have ever tasted, (others may disagree while we are the type of families that visit restaurants pretty often), anyone else would suggest to change the dish for something else or at least maybe choose not to have any response at all! After getting directions from the owner of the place the waiter asked us to leave the place and avoid paying the dinner! To show example to our kids we obviously left cash as no one wanted to talk with us or accept any money (the owner ignored us rudely while we respectfully approached her). To be fair the pasta vinucci was great and the caprese salad was nice, the pizza was one of the best, the chicken fritters was mediocre minus while the sauce was nice, and the shepherds pie which we also ordered didn't even get to the table , every dish was placed on a table in a very random and unpredictable time. Few more comments - not family friendly restaurant with mostly high chair tables, no kids meals and very long waiting time for dish preparation. read more
