To start off, my friend had to go to the hospital a couple of months ago because she has a nut allergy and Tiny's West Coast Kitchen refused to put that there was nuts in the chorizo pizza special. They still have yet to follow up with us or my friend. I go there regularly so I am dissaopinted to see that yet another one of my friends had her heart rate go up EXTREMLEY high last night after having a double smash burger. She eats a lot of fast food, and also eats veggies and drinks a lot of water, there was no reason for her heart rate to spike that high...I am so upset that Public house still has not done anything to remedy this situation, I am a regular there, and I will not be eating at Tiny's anymore. Honestly what's not to love about Public House! They have a variety of food vendors that offer tons of tasty food options, a Beer Hall, Whiskey Lab and great outdoor seating. The best part is all of this is housed inside an old church building. The concept and interior are just so stunning! My favorite part of the building is the Whiskey Lab. This was my first visit and I can't wait to return! It's somewhat of a little hidden gem. I loved the more cozy, dim light vibe of the bar. They played great music the entire time and had a beautifully displayed wall of liquors. This place truly is a unique little spot in town. Now that I have learned about their little solan area, Public House has become my favorite spot to remote work while in Springfield. The Salon room is off to the side of the main room and it's an intimate space full of eclectic furniture. I appreciate that there are outlets at each booth. This visit was marred by okay schnitzel and meh German potato salad. And the bar girl in the beer hall was snarky to us and overwhelmingly effusive to other patrons (girls). She told us 'we only give two complimentary samples per customer'. Really? Because that is not what we observed. The 'samples ' were shockingly teeny one tablespoon (if that) tastes. Never saw anything like it. We ordered a pilsner and moved towards the Whiskey Bar. We attempted to order at the counter of the Pig and Turnip but the slender young female in dirty apron was clearly untrained. To our question 'What is vegetarian?' She replied 'What do you mean?'. Never mind. We retreat to the Whiskey Bar and order us an Ezra 7 neat. And ordered off the website for table delivery of schnitzel and pretzel. Kudos to Shield Cafe counter man Jason whom we order soup and sandwich from. Superlative service once again. Total for one beer, one schnitzel, one pretzel, half a sandwich and soup came to about $46. The bourbon was on another tab. Consider this: ordering from the table incurs $1.13 surcharge from Porter the restaurant's website's ordering system. It allows one not to order in person at the counter. This service costs but we don't know why it should. Pricey for food that arrives in plastic baskets lined with paper. read more

Tried Fisherman's market at the Public House for their clam chowder (lots of chowder, very little clams), fried clams (ok) and salmon burger (tasted good but mushed) , paired with a Ginger Kombucha and a Grape Kombucha from the Beer Hall. Service was fast afte ordering at the counter, their table ordering system is still not working. It's a pleasant place to sit and eat and drink on a rainy cold day, especially when you can score a seat in the beautiful Beer Hall (old church) section of Public House. Parking is still free but it's getting more crowded is a bit more difficult to find parking close-by. read more

A cozy spot for any night of the week. We bring the whole gang for trivia at 6:30 and 7:30 on Monday nights but it would also be a great spot to bring a date or the fam! My favorite part about public house is that you really get to pick your vibe. The whiskey lab is quiet and tranquil, the beer hall where trivia takes place is right next to the bar where you can find a great selection of beers, ciders and kombucha for everyone in your party's taste, and the outdoor seating areas often have live music going on. This time around, the bartender suggested a cider called Red Glo. At a pint for only $6.50, you know we went for a second round. They keep in the fan favorites but also always have things rotating in and out so you could try something new every time if you wanted to! We also got a pretzel from "Pig & Turnip" for $11. A little pricey but for us was so worth it. Please drown me in their fondue and I would die happily. If German food isn't your style there are plenty of other food vendors to check out! Public house is also our favorite spot for trivia. There are two rounds and it's free to play! The best seat in the house to hear the announcer is by the tap room in the chapel building if you will. (Fun fact the building is a renovated church!) there are lots of categories that always change and you play via google forms so don't worry about spilling your drink on your piece of paper when you have the answer! Pro tip: always wager your points at the end of the round, you never know what the bonus question will be! read more

Public House is one of our absolute favorite places to go, especially when the weather is nice and they have live music! We love this for date nights, friend outings or even when family comes to town. It is huge and has such a diverse seating selection--you can choose from the front patio area, an in-door seating hall with the prettiest stained glass windows, or the back grassy area where the live music happens. They have a small parking lot off to the side, but it is rare that we are able to park there since it is usually full. They do have street parking though, so it has never been an issue! Probably our favorite aspect is that there are plenty of food options, this makes coming in groups a breeze because everyone can just order straight from their phones and get whatever type of food they want (and yay to no bill splitting!). They have a ton of beer on tap, but I am not a huge beer drinker, so I love that they also have a decent selection of ciders and a cocktail bar. read more

This is one of my favorite places in the Springfield area. There are a lot of options for food as well as for drinks, good beer but especially great cocktails in the whiskey bar. There is a huge parking lot out back and plenty of street parking near by. Seating is great and there is a lot of it. In fact one thing that I really like is that during the winter they closed off some of the outdoor seating and had heaters running to keep people warm. A great idea to not loose the nice outdoor seating. Like I said there are a lot of food options but my favorite part of this place is the whiskey lab. They have great drinks and quite a few scotch whiskys available. It's also a good place for kids, and live music. Worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

I really like Public House! It is the perfect place to gather with friends whether it's a casual meet up or a party. The interior is beautiful and the outdoor patio area is spacious. We've been here for "regular" visits as well as a party that we rented The Loft for. The bartenders that were working during the time of our party were all very helpful, patient, and friendly despite us having a large party on a very busy Friday night. My only complaints thus far have been against individual food service from the dining options here. I've had some very mediocre food, very long waits, and a somewhat rude server during our party. Since they have their own Yelp listings I don't count those against Public House too much but I do feel I need to knock a star since these places are part of the Public House experience. I would definitely recommend coming here for drinks with friends! As far as the dining options go you'll just have to decide for yourself, but they haven't wowed me. read more

This place We went here a year ago, I'm guessing in its infancy, and man oh man I hope it's totally taken off. It wasn't super busy but the vibe was clean, respectful grown up fun people. My husband and I opted to behave like children and order chicken fingers and fries. I don't know. Who knows about the strange ordering decisions one sometimes makes. And yes, we got a beer. There are so many cool restaurants all around this center area which was a church. Not gonna lie. Eating chicken fingers in a converted church felt... different. There was a really cool mural - imagine the word cool really capitalized and bold - where the choir would have sat and the pulpit area was where the taps where all snuggled in waiting to be awoken. Sad that there is no more singing, perhaps community can still congregate, be cheered and love each other? This place is perfect for game night, date night, card night , after sports, you get it. It's pretty much where I would go if I lived here. Practically perfect. No choir but hey, maybe a choral group will have some practice seshes- then it's officially perfect. read more

I feel really bad for the restaurant industry and staff post-COVID, but the food situation was unacceptable. The $17 salad was not what you expect for $17. There were a scant amount of greens on the plate. Looks really pretty with the blackberries and all but not lush for that amount of money. The walnuts weren't even candied, it was plain. There was no dressing. My friend had to go ask for dressing and they asked her what kind of dressing goes with it. LOL you tell me, man; you work here. The mac & cheese wasn't badly priced but it was so uncomfortably oozy. I would not recommend getting this for a kiddo who does not have an intermediate palette. It's flavorful but not necessarily in a good way, even for adults. It's just a bit too decadent with runny cheese but some people might like it; IDK. The $10 garlic fries were underwhelming. It was a basket of steak fries soaked in grease. Sooooo greasy. If you're looking for skinny fries, this isn't it. There was no pizzazz to it. I would've at least sprinkled on some fresh or dried green herbs to give it some dimension. Don't get me wrong; the garlic flavor was delicious and the saving grace was the garlic dipping sauce but it was so difficult to get through when oil and grease is dripping down the sides of my mouth. If you're into unhealthy eating, then you could probably appreciate these dishes but it was a bit much and yet also lacking. Fountain soda was watered down. Service was lackluster. There's no heart it seems and it's probably because they're overworked and underpaid. Sad because it wasn't even busy during lunch hour on a Sunday; lots of empty tables. You tip at the same time you order via the app so I left a 20% tip for a mediocre dining experience. It was fast though; I'll give them that. read more

La granada has a such a special place in my heart. Their chicken tinga is always consistent in flavor. The tender shredded chicken is perfectly seasoned topped with cabbage, sour cream,beans, green salsa and cotija cheese. These tasty toppings are all placed on top of a crunchy tortilla. Such a delight and the staff is always so kind and welcoming. During Covid you order off of the "porter app" employees wear masks and customers wear masks unless eating or drinking. I absolutely love Public House!! They have so many different areas to sit in and so many different types of food and drink selections. It's the perfect place for any mood, cocktails at the whiskey bar, or beer/cider options inside the tap room as well. They are also always rotating their ciders and beers as well so you can continue to try new things every week. It is located in an old church so the architecture is really interesting as well. The outside area includes food trucks and sometimes even live music. There are so many different areas to sit it feels like a new place every time you come. You also can't miss Monday Trivia, they normally do two rounds starting at 6:30 but get there early as the seats fill up pretty quick. You play on a google form on your phone so it's super easy and fun. This is the perfect spot for a chill night out or even a place for the family to enjoy. There are five small restaurants inside, each with a different cuisine. There's seating inside, outside, and even in the choir loft. I love this place! I'll definitely be back to try all the various food offerings. It's an old church converted to a palace of gluttony (how blasphemous), with several different food vendors and a bar serving local brews. I tried the Hawai'ian place and it was... ok. I like that they have a tempeh option--I could never eat Hawai'ian food when I lived in Hawai'i, since it's never vegetarian, and now I can! The tempeh was tasty, deep fried with a spicy Pele sauce on it. Very heavy and rich, but satisfying. I didn't find the mac salad authentic. A mayonaissey glop with no carrots, onions, or lemon juice tang. (And if they want to get really authentic, how about some Okinawan sweet potatoes or something? Or they could make a tempeh laulau. That would be my dream.) I'm not sure persnickety comments about the food matter, really, because the atmosphere and hoppin' vibe are the real draw. Eager to try more vendors next time. read more

Neat unique place! It is inside an old church I believe and the stained glass and high ceilings add to the coolness of this place. There is also quite a bit of seating inside and outside with plenty of parking too. There are quite a few restaurants to choose from with quite a few options, so I would say there is something for everyone. Whiskey bar.....great cocktails!!! Lots of beer on tap and wine choices. There is Hawaiian food, German, BBQ & Latin, bar food and other options. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other choices of food as I had the Hawaiian.
