What a cool place! Public House is in a converted old church (I think one of the historic first churches in Springfield). There are a ton of taps of beer, ciders, wines. The tables inside are laid out like a beer hall and totally has that feel. There are a number of pop-up vendors off to the side and you can even order everything online and have it brought to your table which is a nice techie twist but you have to go through the rigamarole of creating an account and all that. I'd rather just get up and stretch my legs and go to each physical location, but then again, at the time I went the cash registers were not necessarily staffed and I didn't know whose attention to get since all the vendors seem to share the same kitchen and don't really look out for each other. This is now my happy place!! In Eugene for the International competitions but it is worth driving 20 minutes East to Springfield the home of the simpsons. This place is perfect and the food is delicious. Wander around to the Courtyard or the different rooms of the former church and have a beer or an incredibly delicious grilled salmon salad. read more

I don't know how a restaurant bar with five different businesses in it runs out of napkins. Something is clearly missing. I got a poke bowl that was the most disappointing meal I have had in quite some time. The fish was low quality. The portion with small. The appearance of the dish was completely underwhelming. They could've added more garnish but instead they gave a tiny amount of raw carrots and only three slices of cucumber. It was an absolute rip off. I am fortunate to work immediately next door to the Public House. Our management team has our weekly meeting here almost every Friday. The Public House is inside a former church along with all the beautiful stained glass, and original timber. It also boasts a very nice outdoor patio that is dog friendly. The Public House is host to a a number of eateries. Currently found there are Fisherman's Market, Pig & Turnip/Dazzle Dough, Lani Moki Grill, Moi Poki Grill. Pizza-Cue, and Arekie. With a line up like that there is something for absolutely everyone. I have eaten at all of these places and they are are all excellent. My biggest challenge is deciding between them all each time I go. In addition to the eateries there is the Beer Hall and the Wiskey Lab. They provide a steady rotation of various beer and cider and great Wiskey. Orders are place through their online system and attached to your table number. This is the same system used at the Beergarden and is great once you get the hang of it. It allows you to open up a tab, place orders, and settle out at the end. LANI MOKU IS AWFUL!!! I hate to bring down the reputation of Public House as a whole, but as long as they still offer a spot for Lani Moku I will never bring my business back here again. Love the whole concept that it's in a church. Good selection of beers and food. It's a bit confusing when you walk in as there are 3 different types of foods and you have to go to a different counter based on what you want - no one stop shop. So if you want a pizza and a burger, you have to go to two different counters and pay separately, which I find a bit inconvenient. Also, the pay counters are not all clear either. read more

This is one of the only places in Eugene/Springfield I find friendly. It is the way one seats themselves at a long common table that enables one to talk to people across, next to you, etc. It is similar to dining in germany, especially Bavaria where my father is from. There the tables in restaurants are shared and yes, you get to know folks after a few Helles Biere. (special clear beer renown in the Munich area). What I also like about this place is has 5 food booths and a food truck. Additionally, they have a good music venue and the outside tables are dog friendly.... Venders: Pig and Turnip: (fusion German)- They make a good solid Ruben, which I sided with a potato salad (excellent german potato salad, nice, sweet and vinegary (acquired taste)). Great Doner kabab sandwich- I love lamb- very fresh well dressed. Arekie: Indian Fusion (suppose to be really good from many sources I have asked. They been closed the last two times I tried to visit them. Fisherman's Market: Satellite location of popular Eugene fish market and seafood eatery. I had their cod and chips.... Wow- this is my first time here and it's cool. Lots of beer and cider on tap, along with a little wine. Across the way there's a whiskey bar. Mix in some food vendors and you have all that's needed for a good time. The atmosphere is nice; a former church. Roomy, well lit and music is good. I really like Public House and have been coming here for a while. There's a ton of seating in multiple different areas like the restored church with beer options, two outdoor seating areas and their whiskey lounge. My favorite thing about this place are the cocktails. The Whiskey Lab does such a great job! I haven't tried any of the food trucks for a while but most things I've had in the past have been good to snack on. This is a great options for people who want tons of drink and food options to choose from whether it be dietary preferences or alcohol preferences. Their website has a list of food trucks currently open there. It's a good place for large groups too but seating fills up quickly on evenings and weekends. The bartenders in the Whiskey Lab are really nice but I haven't interacted with many other employees because you order at the counter or from your phone and they bring you the food/drinks. Their outdoor area is dog friendly too and they do host some live music sometimes. read more

Public House is the neatest little (big) place! It is an old church (Methodist or something - that matters because of the design: high ceilings, stain glass, the inside is beautiful) The outside is really cool, they made the outside of it into a patio with lots of picnic tables for seating, and the inside has both booths and huge picnic tables for seating. There are many options for restuarants: a bakery type place, a bar with beer & kombucha (i love kombucha so i love this part), a German place, a healthy food/cookie dough place, and another option! There are so many! So you can really go here and have an option no matter your diet. I personally love the German place and that is my go-to for Public House! This review is mainly for the venue itself. Public house is a really cool idea for a mix of tap room, restaurant, bakery, outdoor and general gathering space. The building is really unique and the outdoor area is large and welcoming (to your four legged friends too!). We came by on a Friday night just before 8 and tried Cascade BBQ, one of the food vendors on the way to the arbor area where you order from a window back in the kitchen. I was excited to get my chicken cheesesteak and Mac and cheese and it came out to us super quick. However, it was lackluster fare. The bbq sauce wasn't spicy, and the Mac and cheese wasn't very cheesy but greasy. I'd say it's a bit expensive for what we got. That being said, the offerings at this place save it. There are three or four other food options to try still and of course, the drinks! Love any place that has decent indoor and outdoor seating options. Sometimes in Oregon that can be hard to find. Springfield is definitely bettering their downtown area and this is a good spot! read more

To me, Public House offers something for everyone: a unique setting, various cuisines under one roof, and for those that love craft beer, they have a big selection of that too. I first thought it was a church, but when I went inside, I was surprised! It was at Public House that I finally got to try Pig and Turnip (their currywurst is quite good, I have to say, especially considering that German restaurants are hard to find). We always get the burgers when we eat at Public House. NW Burgers in the " food court". Last night we went there. Our burgers tasted different than they normally do. My husband and I both noticed and after 2 bites I said I couldn't eat it. My husband decided to bring both plates back. The guy behind the counter was rude, offended and told my husband there is nothing wrong with the food. He then told my husband to take the plates off of the counter and throw it in the garbage. Our first time here after MANY a recommendation, most recently recommended due to how well they are handling the pandemic advisory. You order online with your table number and are brought food/drinks from the various food/drink options available. The outside seating was nice, 6+ feet apart, 10 person limit per "group", with lots of shade. Okay onto the food! We ordered exclusively from Pig & Turnip - - Burgermeister - good but not great; the patty was thin and dry (overcooked), the toppings were great and the pretzel bun, how can you resist? - Grilled Cheese - we didn't read the menu that well for this item but neither of us particularly enjoyed the sandwich; it's very messy, the fondue was falling out all over the plate and the fondue itself was super salty. A very wet "grilled cheese". The tots we ordered with it were great also their pickled onion is - Pretzel - you can't go wrong with their pretzel, soft and so delicious! The house mustard is... very mustardy. We had ordered a side of fondue to dip the pretzel in and unfortunately, as mentioned above, it was too salty to give a rave review. We wound up scraping the salt off of the pretzel so it wasn't a complete salty overload. The only drink we ordered was an apple ginger kombucha and it was delicious! Overall, the 5 stars is more for the venue than the summation of our meal. As a vegetarian, I don't see myself frequenting it for food - more of a drinks and maybe pretzel or small appetizer. H would love to try other dishes so we will be coming back at some point! read more

First time coming here. It's a converted church and quite nice inside. They have lots of seating both inside and outside. I like that there are several places to choose from to get food. I really wanted dish but they were closed. We ordered from Pizza Cue. It was nice they had items other than pizza. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with tots. My daughter ordered a corn dog with steak fries. The pulled pork was sweet and tasted delicious. There were a A LOT of tots. So many I couldn't eat them all. The place it's self is very interesting and different than others, the food options were amazing as well as their beers. The place was very chill and great to come alone or with a group, they also had good music playing in the background. Great prices for food as well as beer. Staff was very friendly and informative. The only reason for this 1 star is that we ordered mini corn dogs and fries. My sister got a side sauce. I wanted mustard so went to counter and asked nicely. I was told it was 75cents. I asked why? We bought some mini corn dogs. The gal said did you get a sauce with your order. Yes I said. Then it's 75cents. I then looked at Menu. No mention of ONLY 1 SAUCE with each order. Also NO MENTION OF A PRICE AT ALL. This really bothered me. I went back up and asked why extra mustard was 75 cents when it doesn't say it anywhere on menu or on the options of sauces board. I asked to speak to Manager. She said they left. I asked to speak to someone in charge. There was None. This is Ridiculous!! It's only 75cents but it's the principal. Burgers served rare and bleeding. Gross! No information on menu saying so, and they don't ask if that's okay or how you'd like it cooked. Brought it up to the counter to ask for one that was cooked and was told, "that's how we serve it." Reiterated again my objection to bloody ground beef, same response, along with "if you wanted it otherwise, you should have ordered it that way." Then they both turned away. Too bad, I guess. After several rounds of this, the guy finally said he would make me another one. It was cooked. Yay! But he probably spot on it. This place would be out of business anywhere outside of Springtucky. Food takes FOREVER (they need to give most the boot) and the beer selection is ok at best. They have more/better beer on tap at Prime Time. The seating is uncomfortable to boot. Springfield keeps flooding the downtown with mediocre businesses which is viable when Eugene is the alternative. Don't do it. The food was passable enough but then the staff... full disclosure, my daughter worked there and quit because of staff and owners making hateful comments about her disability. Bad form. Now to my visit. During my meal a customer came into the dining room with mask in hand. Bartender freaked out on this guy. No ask, straight to freak out mode. No person should EVER speak to another human being the way this bartender spoke to this customer. I said something to staff to hear that it was a common occurrence. This place is pretty great. Plenty of food options. Latin kitchen, 100 mile bakery, cascade bbq, pig and turnip, and sheild cafe. I have only tried the Latin kitchen and pig and turnip so far. They are great! Unusual options that come together nicely. The bar is great. Today we came for a cider event and the options are spectacular . I did not get the sweet flight as I like dryer ones. I got the dry and a mix to share with the hubs. I am a very happy lady today. The burgers from pig and turnip are not that great. I would stick to the German sausages. I have always loved this place and loved bringing family from out of town. Sadly this time my mother had a very unpleasant experience. the bartender with glasses was quite rude to her while she was ordering her drink. She asked to try two different beers since she has never been to oregon and doesn't know what she likes. When she asked for a third try to be sure, the bartender snarlingly said "there is a two sample maximum and there is a line behind you". After that she said she didn't like the last sample and then he decided to say "then you should just a corona". Maybe i'm being a little overdramatic, but this is not something i would ever expect from public house especially since they have always been super welcoming and nice. Sadly this was my mom's first experience in eugene and left an unsavory feeling towards getting food while out in the town. I went with some friends on a Friday night and it was packed! Apparently this is the place to be. It's such a lively and cool spot. There are a ton of options to choose from in terms of food and drinks. There is something for everyone. The Latin restaurant was pretty good. You have to eat the fish tacos fast or else they'll get soggy. The chips, guac, and salsa are amazing! Someone from our group got pretzels and fries from the German restaurant. The pretzels were so good and the dipping sauce was even better. The fries are basic and weren't anything special. I regretted not trying the BBQ restaurant, but next time! read more
