I guess companies nowadays want your money but want nothing to do with servicing you! This Public Storage facility is definitely one of them. People that are not their current customers are sneaking into the facility. They're waiting outside the exit gate and rushing into the premises when customers leave. Sometimes they are in cars, sometimes they are walking/running in. Every once in a while, current customers may have forgotten their access code. Usually, they are at the entry gate waiting to get in when other customers enter. They are not facing the exit gate and rushing to get in. I'm also noticing cars parked in their parking lot that have sitting for weeks. I have belongings in this storage facility and I'm concerned about my own safety and the safety of my belongings. So, I decided to ask one of their employees one fine afternoon - August 6th @ 1:40pm - about this activity. Tall brown haired white guy. Not only was he irritated, agitated and didn't want to answer any of my questions, his rotten attitude was overall unwelcoming and didn't want to be bothered or answer any questions. Instead he was complaining that I was asking him too many questions before he had a chance clock in. He mentioned that Public Storage is renting out parking spaces which might explain some of these people wanting to gain entry. If someone is leasing a parking spot, wouldn't they have an access code? Why are they gate crashing? Bam! He got even more irritated. He decided to reprimand me as if I'm letting these gate crashers in illegally. He cited that current account holders letting any gate crashers in can have their accounts cancelled. I couldn't believe it! I'm trying to get some assurance about my own safety and the security of my belongings that I have in their storage and I get threatened with a reprimand about letting gate crashers in. Isn't it kind of strange that he's getting irritated with my asking questions about these gate crashers? Is he involved with these gate crashers? I've made two calls to their district manager and left a message with their property manager about this incident and my ongoing concerns about the security of this facility. Been coming to this location for many years. I had to get another storage place for my work. Sipi was very helpful and she took her time to help me decide which unit to get for my work place items in. The quality of the storage is very clean and location is great. The only thing I wish they gave people the option is to use the trash can and I myself don't mind to paid extra to throw small article of trash. Nothing g really big like a sofa or big items. Climate controlled area? PFFFT. Yeah right. Me and my family have been using the public storage unit for at least 7 years. But over the course of us moving in, there have been numerous problems. Let me start from the beginning. We first moved in to contain the stuff we had. It was not problematic and everything worked well together. I appreciate that. But over the time, problems started to evolve. One day, they decided to just raise our rent on the storage unit. Typical. We didn't find it that bad at first because it was not much of a raise. But only a few months ago, they kept raising our rent. We realized there was something going on, and we were starting to question us staying at the unit. They raised the rent once again, but more than the usual amount, and we cracked at that point. We figured that they would keep raising our rent to unaffordable prices, and we knew that it was only a matter of time until they raised it so high that we would be scraping and saving up every dollar for a storage unit?! And then it hit. We went into the storage unit, told them we were done, and started packing our stuff. We got a 3 week leave, and we managed to lug out all of our stuff out of this location. We ended up getting our new storage unit at U.S Storage, which has had a significant improvement compared to this joke. Oh, and one thing to remind you, the place claims they are "Climate Controlled". I don't know who decided that but I'll tell you that it is not true. It is boiling hot in there no matter what floor you go to. Totally not climate controlled. Would I want to go back? No. Would I say it was a great place? No. And would I recommend it to other people? The answer to all those questions is a big NO. I did not enjoy the 7 years we had our storage here, and I would totally not recommend this place. Avoid this place unless you want to be melting from lugging your storage. And avoid this if you want to avoid paying a ton of money for a storage unit. Terrible. Just absolutely terrible. read more

Horrible storage place. Don't bother coming here. I wish I had read the reviews of how they're broken into really often because they REALLY ARE BROKEN INTO OFTEN. I never thought that would happen to me but sadly, it has. I started renting a space here when I came back from college. It was literally just from Sept. 6 until Sept. 23. I came by today to pick up my passport which I had accidentally left in my backpack which was in the storage unit, and found I had been broken into. My boyfriend's valuable items like his TV and expensive, treasured movie collection and personal documents of mine like birth certificate and passport were stolen. I called the police and discovered that two other storage units were broken into. If one storage unit is broken into, why doesn't Public Storage email all tenants to let them know their stuff might have been broken into too? Just to make sure nothing was stolen? What if someone was robbed on Wednesday and I was robbed on Thursday? If I had known about the Wednesday robbing, maybe I could have been spared by taking my stuff out or buying another sturdy lock. I'm still talking with police and the facility to see if my items can be recovered or paid for through the insurance. They also have a lot of ants. read more

I've used the public storage in particular off & on since January 2013 for the great location/city that is Alhambra but shortly after moving my items into the unit I noticed how the hours had been cut back to the office hours. Chris was the current employee here & when I asked him about the hour change he gave a very unsatisfactory & vague answer, eventually he'd come clean & admit to the break in's of the units. He stated that the outside cameras had captured video of the person responsible for the break in's & were working on solving the issue. Luckily I found a place to go & moved away without an issues. In January 2016 I once used this particular place almost immediately after the move in I noticed the posted signs outside that the hours had been changed to office hours. Again I asked, this time I was told that they were having an issue with someone breaking in. I asked was it the same person from previous incidents the answer was a "yes same person". I was also told that he had been caught & arrested & did a little time in jail but apparently he was back again. But again, I moved to different place & without an theft issues. August 2017, I decided to use this place again for the same reason as before, the location. But sure enough, almost as soon as I moved in, the signs went right back up. The break in's continued off & on for the whole ten month I stayed at this unit. Within the last couple of months of 2018 the break in's had become increasingly more & heard first hand stories from victims that ranged from: "my unit was broken into but nothing was taken, just items that weren't mine left in my unit. And my unit was broken into & I'm missing valuable things". I asked again, was it the same person & I was told "yes it is" & I also noticed how the answer to my question was always the same & I asked different employees about the matter. The answer comes off as being rehearsed, word for word every single time!! My concern is, well, for the last five years they had the same issue with the same person but never a permanent solution, which makes the nuisance very suspicious! You'd figure that after the first break in the problem would've been nipped in the bud! For me at least, it was time to leave & move my things out to safe location for reassurance & peace of mind which being at this location provided none of!! More & more I grew worried that I might be the next victim of this place & it's resident thief! I don't think I will ever use this facility again because of thier little break in buddy! They can keep him & I'll just keep my things & keep them somewhere else for safe keeping until I find a new apartment to go too. By the way, they refused to refund me the difference for un-used days. I guess stealing from others is just a common occurrence at this place.... Never again! read more

Just rented my first from PUBLIC STORAGE and let me say the place is 100% better then other storages. They cant compare or come close to the quality and condition of the facility, and how nice and helpful the customer service is. I made it in the gate three minutes before closing and instead of being yelled at or told to leave, they simply warned me of the rules and the outcome of my actions and finished with a "Okay have a good night, and thank you for chosing Public Storage" in the nicest voice possible. The other storage i use give me bull shit all the time. Ridiculous the crap i deal with at the other place. Im going to drop the other guy and just get another one with you guys. They damaged everything we own! My parents had been storing the contents of their old house while they shopped for a new one and lived with me. They just bought a house and days before they were going to move all their things from the storage to the new house, they got a phone call saying there was a leak in the storage and they needed to come immediately to inspect their items for water damage. Upon arrival, they forced my dad to sign a liability waiver waiving all claims to take action against them for the right to go in and see his storage unit. My lawyer said it was much broader than the contract signed at the beginning, and to amend it. They refused to let us amend it and refused any access to the belongings unless you sign away your rights. That has to be illegal. So, he signed under duress and viewed his unit. Said even the lock was wet and things inside were wet. Today, instead of flying (I had to move my trip), I get to sort through a lifetime of our stuff, taking inventory (including my things) to see what can be saved and what needs to be tossed due to mold damage. When I remember the care we spent cleaning and boxing everything in the first place and the thousands of dollars paid to store the items for two years, it makes me sick. Instead of being apologetic, they are covering their asses. Don't store your things here if you actually want them. People obtain storage units for various reasons in their life. No different than raising rent just because, the fee on a storage unit shouldn't be raised "just because" either. My unit has gone from $221 to $288 this year! Of course it's being done incrementally like we renters won't notice... Is additional parking being added so we're not blocking storage units when we park? Are additional lights being added so it's not so dark inside, is the light timer being fixed, are the bathrooms being upgraded and cleaned? Are more carts being purchased? My sole reason for picking this storage was the hours - open until 9 p.m. I work Mon - Fri from 8-5:30. The hours suddenly changed about 3 months ago. I assumed this was temporary. It was not. More than a few times I barely made it there after work, only to get a text that my leaving at 6:05 was not permitted. The place is well kept, though staff is always absent from the desk or at lunch (they open at 9). Can't buy supplies or borrow a cart (they only have 2!). These hours are terrible. Grant it I don't need staff there until 9, but I feel I pay you enough for access, why am I being limited to only weekends? Yes, I could call off work but come on! Luckily I was able to find another storage with better hours that was also slightly cheaper. Will I rent with them again? Doubtful - I really need access Mon-Fri after work. read more

After a break-in, the manager very nonchalantly, gave instructions on contacting the insurance company and making a police report. While the manager was polite, there were no apologies about the incident or any reassurances that something would be done. Rather just an acknowledgment of similar instances happening to other lockers recently and that they think they figured it out. For someone who is in temporary housing and whose whole life is in one of these lockers, this wasn't much consolation. While I know that a break in is not the fault of the facility, but given the security measures of the building, it seemed possible this was an inside job. An apology, or something like it, could have went a long way. read more

I had a reservation for a unit and I confirmed it with the location over the phone. I get to the property ahead of our van loaded with stuff and there's NOBODY there in the office!! What is going on? We were totally screwed. We spent Saturday and Sunday packing up things and early Monday morning we picked up the van and then loaded the van up. At 11:30am I go ahead to check in and do the paperwork for the unit and NOBODY is home!! We had no choice except to turn the van around and go back to our apartment and take everything out of the van!! We had a second story apartment and it is astonishingly irresponsible for Public Storage to falsely advertise that they have a storage unit and confirm it in writing and over the phone and then NOT have their office open for business! I tried calling them and I kept calling them and they STILL didn't get ahold of anyone at the property that was available. What a terrible experience! read more

My mom and dad rented this "climate controlled" storage unit back in approximately 2010 to store my sister's belongings. First, I don't think it is climate controlled at all. Always very warm or hot. Over the years they kept raising the rent. Recently, they raised it $100 a month which is absolutely ridiculous for a storage space. They do not have good security and have bad customer service. Their access hours are also awful. Makes it really hard when you work all day and have access only until 6:00 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. I went down the street to A-1 Storage where they rent is much cheaper, friendly staff and much, much better access hours. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. They had one person working to manage the entire property (and by the way, never saw the actual property manager while we were moving our things out) and this was on a few different occasions. Oh and, someone tried to get into the unit because part of a key was broken off in the lock. Avoid this place at all cost. Would never ever return. read more

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR STUFF STOLEN!!!! I recieved a phone call from Chris the day after he saw my unit was broken into mind you it was unlocked until I got there! When I asked him directly had this happened before he straight out said NO( then proceeds to tell me 4 other units were "tampered with". Then stated I can call the COPs but no one else did. So of course I called - hello my unit was broken into. Then when the Police Officer arrived I was then told they had been there twice before for break ins. Was I notified about that then said NO even though I asked. i then found out I was the 10th victim there! #10 can you believe that then when I asked Chris again with the Officer present he replied "i don't think it was important to you" When I went to remove my belongings I found 4 broken locked in a little corner and took a picture good thing I did cause 4 other people were there stating they received the same phone call about their units being "tampered with"!!! One guy was stating his stuff was gone- Chris replied we think we know who it is if she doesnt cone back we'll break her lock. The guy states what about my stuff- Chris replied that's why you have insurance. It took over a week for corporate to call me back then stated I was getting only a partial return on my monthly payment. The only reason I removed my stuff it because it's NOt SAFE there!! I've been the customer of this location for the last 12 years. Price just kept on going up but there was no good treatment to a loyal customer when I move out. 1. I move out on thr 12th, office manager checked my acct and told me they will not refund the unused days because I'm on auto payI is that a panalty of a loyal customer who always pay on time? 2. Then I was told I need to clearbout my space before the office can check me out, when I cleared my space at 2:40, I called the office on site, no one answered, so I had to go the office while I have all the movers with me, and to find out the manager is in the office and had lock the door because she's on "lunch" break, office will be reopen at 3pm, come back in 15 mins she said! then I tried to ask a question outside the door, she just completely ignore me. While my mover is charging me by the minutes, I don't have 15 mins to waste, I left the property. Since I'm not getting any refund and had paid until the end of the month. My unit was broken into, ransacked and much of the contents stolen. I only found out when I went to my unit today and found it in complete disarray. What was weird is that my unit was locked with no apparent signs of break in. I called the police immediately and reported the incident. However, since I discovered the break in after the office was closed, I have not had a chance to discuss with anyone from Public Storage. It seems from other reviews of this location that there have been scattered break ins over the years. I wanted to post this review about my experience to caution anyone who might be looking to rent from this location. I can't say whether this is an ongoing problem at this location or not. 1. Adriana is fantastic! 2. The building interior is very well-lit and activated by motion sensor - love that! Plus, elevator interiors are large. 3. You only have to use your secret code to go through the gate at the exterior of the facility. You don't have to punch in your secret code a 2nd time to open the door to the facility, or a 3rd time at the elevator to access the floor for your unit - which is MUCH BETTER than PS facilities which require the code multiple times to get where you need to go. It's an unnecessary pain when you're trying to wrestle a dolly full of items by yourself. 3. My unit was SPOTLESS when I moved in. Not a speck of dust or scrap of paper anywhere. The roll up door is white, bright, clean, not dented, and easy to operate. 4. I LOVE the climate control. I know my items will not crack, dry out, melt, or otherwise be damaged by high temperature. And let's face it, moving heavy things is a sweaty proposition. It's great to be able to unload items in a 70 degree environment. read more
