PS is fine when you begin. After you have been there for awhile they randomly raise your monthly rental charge. Our case it was almost 33% which is an outrage and sad for a long standing (6 months) customer that pays each and every month. Go elsewhere if you can would be my recommendation. It's a metal box that you have your stuff in. It's not worth what they charge, but it's a captive audience. Most likely drug lords and other nefarious criminals own these places and they are laundering $ there. read more

Rented a unit here and when I went to pick up the contents of my unit at the time of my move, the grounds were covered with a sheet of ice. Zero attempt by the business to put salt anywhere on their property. I fell on the black ice and broke my shoulder. The property didn't even to care, no apology, no offer of any compensation. Moved in during a sale. Needed two small units. 1 month after the sale....They regretted to inform me that they had to raise the monthly rent. Total increase was $35.00/month I moved out of both units on the 1st of the month. Horrible timing, I know, but I did ask for at least a small discount due to the full month being available to them to get them rented again. No flexibility. No care nor empathy. The best part was the phone call after I moved out. "Hey, wanted to let you know someone just cleaned you out of both your units" Just be aware of what you're getting into. At first it seemed they are available to help and communicate (before I paid and moved in) they called me and seemed to be helpful. However, after I paid my rent and moved in there was a lack of customer service and nobody at the desk during business hours to help me. Leaving voicemails didn't help either. I have yet to get a call back from anyone. Second, they automatically charge you for a lock and force you to buy thier insurance until you can prove you have your own. This is obviously the biggest problem because of my first issue: nobody wants to speak with you to take care of the insurance and lock issue. I can only assume this is so they can keep the money that they claim 'will be cheerfully refunded to you' as stated on their website. There are TONS of other storage options out there so please use them and NOT this company....save yourself the time and headache and use a company that actually has customer service. read more

Was charged $240.00 for 2 days of rent. Called and talked to the property manager about vacating and asked if it would be prorated as I shouldn't be responsible for a full month of rent when I wasn't in the unit the entire month. Was told there was nothing she could do about it and was incredibly unhelpful in explaining why I was responsible for the balance. Incredibly frustrated having used them the last 3 years for winter storage and never had an issue before. read more

We have had a unit for 8 years; and have downsized twice in that time. The items we have stored have been dry and bug free in that time. The rent has risen consistently over that time but we have been living out of state and the hassle of looking around has dissuaded us from changing storage companies. One of the frustrations we've had has been accessing the locker as the sliding doors have stuck on numerous occasions but are being replaced this summer. There is also relatively little flexibility in administrative stuff, like changing the name of the renter; i.e. our daughter rented a unit and we couldn't transfer our name to it although we are paying the bills (long story). I have been impressed by Kaycie who has helped us through the process of switching units. She was helpful, knowledgeable and really pleasant. We will continue to use A2 public storage and recommend it. read more

I should've read the yelp reviews prior to renting but it's true - Public Storage randomly raises rent and although they "notify" you 30 days prior about the when the next rent it due, there's nothing on that notification that says that RENT IS BEING RAISED! It just shows the new amount with no explanation. We live out of state and suddenly had to move out of UMich because of Covid last Nov 2020. Now due May 1, 2021, the rent increased to $100. Don't be duped by the ads that rent is just $79. They add asterisks to all these promo and when you read the fine print is says they have the right to raise rent whenever with a 30-day notice. Again, if you live out of state it's not like you can suddenly go there and move everything out within that 30-day notice. This company really takes advantage of students and cloaks their reasoning behind fine print. When we go back to Ann Arbor, we will find other rental places that keep the price the same. Any other lease honors original lease price so this is just ridiculous how they claim they can raise rent any time, even with a 30-day notice! The local Ann Arbor office does have great customer service and are very sympathetic to this company policy so the low rating is not on them but on corporate Public Storage. read more

Long story - I rented a 5x10 unit on Sep 28. The agent said I would owe the last three days of October, as billing happens in the 1st. I forgot. On Oct 28, I got a call that I owed $13.87 and that it must be paid that day or there would be a late fee. I said I didn't get paid the the 30th so that was that. Late fee $20.80. On the 29th I received an email threatening seizure of my property if not paid right away. I thought it was harsh but figured it was just computer generated.) On the 31st I called to pay the $34.67. To use the automated system costs $10. To speak to a human and pay over the phone costs $20. I asked if I could come in the following day to pay the $34 the following day along with November's rent (as I was on my way to work); I was then informed that I would be charged a lien fee of $50. This was all over $13.87, which I hadn't been told about till the day it was due! I took the day off and moved out. Never again! read more

There is nothing wrong in our experience with the front desk help nor with the "product"--the size, accessibility, functionality, and basic state of repair and cleanliness of the storage unit. What I want to criticize--and warn would-be renters about--is the repeated raise in the monthly rental rate we've been charged. We started our rental just over three years ago in order to store furniture recently inherited at the time and wish to hold until family members can claim and move. Each year there has been a significant raise in the monthly rental rate. We are now paying a little more than twice the rate we started with. (This 106% raise in the rental rate in about three short years strikes us as extreme by any measure.) Thus, as with a usurious apartment landlord, the Public Storage business model seems to be to take advantage of the considerable inertia that tends to keep renters in place. The usual "market" arguments that would and should generally pertain in the provision and consumption of goods and services (e.g., "We simply charge what the market bears." or "The consumer is always free to shop for a better value."), are short-circuited in light of the major effort--and the additional cost--associated with a renter's moving to a competing facility. This place is a complete scam. I'd be careful about letting Olivia touch your credit card, because she'll swipe it and hit you with a $26 "administrative charge" even if you decide not to use their services. Basically, talking to Olivia costs $26. read more

Do not rent with them. The rent goes up randomly and pretty drastically. I rented the unit in Sept 2014 and by Feb the unit increased by $25. Moving everything out by the end of the month. Planned on keeping the unit for another year. Search for a storage company that does not increase the rent randomly and there are several in Ann Arbor. read more

Waaaaay too expensive. Got much better pricing down the street. Also, leaves gate open for long periods of time for repair.

The start-up fee was nice, the whole $1 for the first month. I was pretty put-off that they made us buy a lock from them; we have about 15 padlocks that would have been more than sufficient. These are also NOT for someone who needs access to their unit during non-business hours; I work 2nd shift, it took me 2 weeks to move out of my unit because they close at 5. I guess this is fine if you have nothing else that occupies your day, like work or school. The people are okay, I guess. read more
