Manager then says I can move you but you'll be charged more...fine, I prefer a bigger space so let me move to that, price he says it's $252. Online you show that it's $186. You'll be charged another $30 but it won't be $50 more. Then let's do it online. He's typing away as I do it and they pull the same bait and switch! I say you saw me doing this in front of you and he says that's on you. I say you have the unit. He refuses to help. While there another person shows asking to get into his unit to move out and he says call the regional manager. The guy is pleading with him and he refuses to help. Of course I don't know the situation there so I don't move just wait for him to help me. He refuses. Exacerbated I say fine I'll go to my unit but there is no light bulb and the other switch doesn't work. He says we have no obligation to provide light. WHAT!?! I say I can't believe this is how you all do business I will be writing a review. He says you're bullying me and it's all on camera. WTF Called to cancel both at this point two units, which I haven't put a single item in and they refuse! These people are allowed to do business like this? Talk about lying!!! I made a call to acquire a climate controlled unit. I asked and was told 3 times that the storage unit was climate controlled. When I arrived, guess what, it was not!!! Talk about shady!!! No refund because they said it was more than 24hrs since I made the call the previous day. It's been less than 24 hours since I went in person to complete the transaction but still no refund or a partial refund!!! Do not use this place because they are SHADY!!! I made a reservation online and the facility called me to confirm the rental. After I set up eRental with autopay on my credit card, I got a text with my assigned storage and welcome email with instructions. Received my personal gate code the day before my start day. All worked smoothly. When I arrived at the storage, the nice young lady (who was walking around the premise, checking and cleaning) showed me (with mask and social distance) how to open the gate and my storage space. Even though I was given the contactless options and instructions, I was clueless so her kind help was very much appreciated. I also saw her walking around the the facility, cleaning and readying the storage space, which made me feel good about the place. Sure I would love it if this place were to be 24-hour accessible but I can live with the somewhat limited hours. Plus, this is the cheapest storage I could find in the area, so I am pretty happy with the clean facility and the nice people here and have this place to be the temporary home of our belongings. read more

If I could put less than one star, I would. Public Storage has TERRIBLE customer service. They raised by rate astronomically TWICE. They claimed that they notified me before hand via email but I received NOTHING of the sort. I found a new more affordable storage, and went to try and close my account. According to customer service, this location was supposed to be open today until 6pm. I went THREE TIMES between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 pm. There was no sign indicating closure, no more saying what time they will re-open and no number listed to call. Jessica was very unhelpful via phone as well. We called corporate to get assistance and the representatives made it very difficult to close out my account. I would NOT recommend taking your business and hard-earned money here. read more

Liz Even Told Me They Recently Upgraded To A Better Security System, So That's Great News. I made a reservation on Wednesday, August 11th, for August 26th at a specific location. I received a message on Friday, August 13th that I must call about my reservation. I called this morning and discovered they had sold my space ro someone else. I was told on the phone that reservations are not honored. I am a loyal customer of Public storage. I was recklessly informed today that I will not be able to use your service and have to move out in 72 hours because there are "bad things" in my storage. I called a manager and told her there are no dangerous things or chemicals in the storage and my storage can be inspected at any time. She insisted that she smelled some smell, and she also saw that our porters were wearing masks. I felt I am very insulted, wearing masks is a requirement of your company and posted at the gate during this pandemic time. When I request to speak to someone holding a position higher up than the representitives ive been speaking to, I get transferred to voicemails and before being connected it is explained that I may reach a voicemail!!! HOW CONVENIENT!! I AM NOT FOOLISH!!! when actually connecting to a line the line rings before being picked up by voicemail and when being transferred directly to a voicemail the recording of the voicemail will begin immediately in which case kept happening. Leaving my phone number details and specifics to be made aware of the urgent attention this matter needs i have not received a call back at all. Throughout this whole matter I contacted my lawyer in which he suggested to play nice with my ex landlord in order to retrieve my property because there was not enough time to open a case in time to avoid the unit entering auction and so i did and it got me nowhere! I contacted the police to report my property stolen in which they claimed is a lawsuit not an issue to be treated as a robbery. I contacted the Public Storage facility and all i was told was that my property would be thrown out per account holder request. I spoke to the property manager Jessica or so she says that's who she is to tell me that if I did not pay by 6pm on 1/31 the unit would be emptied! So now they are no longer following business protocol by removing the property and not allowing the unit to be placed in auction but they are meeting the account holders requests to dispose of the property WHEN THEY CLEARLY ARE AWARE THAT IT IS NOT HER PROPERTY BEING STORED IN THAT UNIT. Jessica then suggests transferring me to her manager "her district manager" Denise. I left a message for Denise after being told by my lawyer that a letter would be sent out immediately hoping to cause a hold on the unit and save my property. (The results are unknown as this has become a legal matter) I am appalled by the customer service and business management at the facility. clearly they lack proper training in the service they are providing as well as business handling and resolution. Clearly they have not been instructed or informed of a go to management personnel when a special circumstance arises. Even if they were appointed management how well would any situation be handled?? This hasn't been managed at all not from a business perspective from a legal standpoint or a personal level lacking empathy for a person who is not considered a current customer. I have stored with Public Storage in the past because my mom had great experiences with them BUT NEVER WILL I EVER EVER AGAIN USE THEM OR EVEN REMOTELY KEEP THEM IN MIND FOR ANY STORAGE NEEDS. read more

I honestly don't understand how these employees have been trained its as if they have an ear piece with the same recording playing over and over and over again. I begin by requesting to speak to someone in a higher management position than their property manager or the district manager and yet the representatives at the call center insist they are part of management and will be a able to Asist me and they are useful stating and repeating to me facts i have already addressed and communicated that iam well aware of. I came here looking for a deal.. 69 dollars for a medium sized room that could house two rooms worth of stuff.. Let's try it! As soon as I went through the contact I was told I HAD to get insurance coverage.. Wtf? It's not like I have anything indispensable in there that I want to insure.. OK whatever.. That brought my total up average price. What I don't like is that there is no vending machine, no curtesy water, no nothing. That really gets you irritated on a hot day. Also I've stopped by 3 separate times to buy something from the office on Sunday, and the office was closed... I guess the manager close the office as she pleases? In this last month and a half I have personally called the Public Storage facility in Baldwin Park an extensive numerous amount of times discussing the situation, requesting information about the unit, payment amounts, late fees, auction dates and asking what's next if i'm unable to regain access to my property?? And the only statement made by the staff at the facility is "THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO" A staff member suggested to take her to court however they are not authorized to give legal advice. I have called and this situation has been discussed so much that when I call everyone is aware of the matter and no longer needs to be briefed on the specifics. So why is this not being handled by management??? Never has the situation been handed over to a manager (at least not on my end) I have never been contacted nor suggested to be transferred to management. NEVER HAVE I BEEN TOLD THAT A MANAGER WAS NOW HANDLING THE SITUATION since it is a very special and unique situation I would think someone would have assessed the situation and from a business perspective if not personal and say "I'll handle it from here, any and all phone calls or anyone inquiring about this unit needs to be directed and transferred directly to me" because that's what should've happened that's business management included with customer service. Whether or not they could help even suggesting or placing a hold on the account denying access to the account holder waiting resolution or legal placement of thee account staff members should have no longer been managing anything to do with this unit.  Hitting a dead end with the facility i began discussing this issue with Public Storage headquarters and told basically presented the same options the same outcome. The rep stated that i'm asking for them to break business protocol and rules that have been implemented to protect customer privacy and disclosure. That if he was in any way attempt to assist it would compromise  the disclosure of customer privacy and open up the possibility of a lawsuit being held against them. WHAT ABOUT MY PRIVACY? WHAT ABOUT THE DISCLOSURE OF MY PRIVATE PROPERTY ILLEGALLY STORED IN ONE OF YOUR UNITS? You have to be willing to learn your product inside and out and willing to learn how to communicate better and when you're communicating poorly! Do not tell me im handling this from an emotional level if you lack empathy!! learn when it's OK to follow a process and when it's more appropriate to choose your own! Being able to serve professionally means being able to confirm customer satisfaction and with the customer feeling knowing that everything will be taken care of because ultimately you're operating a business. Being dismissed before my problems have been addressed is the last thing that i needed. I wanted to be sure to take the time to call headquarters with customers every issue wishing that it can be entirely resolved. Thinking they would care about getting it right, doing the right thing and be willing to solve the problem. Perhaps empathy training should be implemented into their book of procedures because how do you represent Public Storage without any type of ability to understand and share the feelings of another?? When that is the product your business consists of! In fact, if your organization tests applicants for customer service aptitude, you'd be hard pressed to look for a more critical skill than empathy due to critical thinking &  problem solving because no business goes without at least one problem a day. Even when you can't tell the customer exactly what they want to hear, a dose of care, concern or an inch of understanding can go a long way and let me tell you that the staff & management at the facility and the representatives at the call center are not equipped with ANY OF THOSE SKILLS. Not every problem you encounter is specifically covered in the company's guidelines therefore you have to create a guideline and define a logical escalation point when the problem is noticeably out of your league and you need to contact a CEO. Personally to obtain a great work ethic and a willingness to do what needs to be done is a key skill for me when providing the kind of service for the company in which I work in. Not worrying about a lawsuit that doesnt even exist due to a breach of privacy. Rather created would of been that of a positive review and acknowledgement or what about achieving personal satisfaction for goodness sakes for assisting in retrieving special property that can not be replaced nor substituted in a lawsuit! Because those are material things that have been cherished and taken care of for decades and obtain images from special people no longer her with me!! read more

Very unhappy with rental. I feel like I was duped, as I came in here thinking I was getting a special- $65 dollars for a medium room. I thought this was great, didn't even mind that they made me get insurance coverage on the unit (insurance coverage is mandatory). Six months later, they raised my rent, and they have been raising my rent every year. I now pay $105 dollars a month, which is what I used to pay for a large room when I used to rent with U-haul :(. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to move out yet, but will do so IMMEDIATELY, as soon as I have the time to move all the crap I have in there to another storage. Also, they have no vending machines, which totally sucks!! Rooms are also not climate controlled, as units are outside. Please note that this is a review on the actual company. I needed a place to store my things when I first moved to L.A. This Public Storage had the most competitive prices I could find around town. The first month was discounted and the succeeding months were priced fairly. I rented one of the smaller outside units and it fit my needs perfectly. The facility was clean and well attended. I felt my items were secure. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I only needed the unit for a couple of months and when I checked out, Darlene was very professional, quick and efficient with expediting that process. I left feeling like it was a good experience . It should be noted, as others have indicated, the hours of access are limited so you must plan accordingly. read more

Came to this Public Storage to inquire about available sizes and cost. I was pleasantly greeted by Juliana and Lizz with a friendly smile. I asked for available smaller units and the most economical, Juliana explained all prices, plus other costs such as insurance options etc. I asked if I could take a look at a unit to get an idea, and Juliana promptly said "sure!" and took us to an available unit which was at a perfect spot for a cheaper price than one just a floor down. She let us make the reservation online right then and there which would save me $10 a month! Juliana was very profesional, knew all the answers to my questions and explained the contract thoroughly, she and Lizz made it very easy! I've now moved in and all is well!
