I'm back again with Public Storage in Belmont! I have temporary storage needs from time to time, and Belmont Public Storage is always my go to. Whether I'm using the main location in the large building or the original location with the drive up units, they've both been amazing. One of the things I love most is how easy they make the process. Many times I've been able to get a new unit the same day... yes, there are definitely those emergency moments! I also love the newer features that let you rent a unit over the phone or online. It makes everything even more convenient and seamless. The management team is also outstanding. Everyone has always been helpful, responsive, and easy to work with, which makes a huge difference during stressful moments. Been using PS for several years, they consistently jack up their rental fees. They start texting/emailing me 20-30 days in advance of when the next monthly pmnt is due. Been a renter for years, always pay my bill, but, they're tactics feel like harassment. read more

I don't know if they've changed hands but there are some positive changes here. The staff is always courteous and professional and the place is kept as clean as it can be. PLEASE DON'T EVER GIVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT YOUR OR YOUR FAMILIES BUSINESS! THERE ARE HONESTLY 3 OTHER STORAGE PLACES WITHIN A 1 MILE RADIUS WITH WAY BETTER RATES AS WELL AS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Literally they deserve NEGATIVE STARS! I am completely appalled at how I was treated by the rude and disrespectful employee I unfortunately had the worst luck of being subjected to. Her name was ALICIA. She was so confident and arrogant about her rudeness that she spelled it for me. You'd swear she owned the place. You tell me how you think this experience was... I walked up to the door that was locked at 12:30 with a sign on it that read, "will return at 12:25". This lady then walked up and said," Is there something I can do for you guys?" I said, "yes, I'm looking for information on getting a storage". She immediately rudely retorted with,"I'm not gonna allow you to get a storage to store his shit!" She was talking about my buddy I was with. Dumbfounded I exclaimed, I'm a veteran and merely need the storage to store my own stuff actually, repeated that I would like information about renting a storage in various sizes and their corresponding rates. She said, "If you're going to give me an attitude then you can go to another storage place. Not only did she then make me feel embarrassed, ashamed, belittled and disrespected, I couldn't help but think what if my elderly mother or father came in? How would they be received? SHE WAS EXTREMELY INTIMIDATING, especially due to her larger size and irritable and abrasive behavior. I then told her that I would appreciate it if she stopped being rude and just please focus on giving me info about various storages, basically the whole reason for my visit. I then asked my friend I was with if she knew him or didn't like him and he said no, he didn't know her and that yes he has seen her previously as he's a paying customer there, which is why he is referring me he said. I then asked for the district managers name and contact info which she rudely pointed to on the wall and then told me she was calling the police and to leave the establishment immediately. How you know I'm telling the truth is, if you look above / below my review Alicia really had one of her buddies write a review magically talking about how "great" she is 2hrs. after my review! I had a really good experience here. The staff was very friendly and offered great advice. Due to an issue with my phone, without realizing it, I wasn't receiving messages. I decided to run over to this location in person. They were very understanding, down to earth and professional about it. They assisted me in opening the requested size. She worked with us to accommodate our many requests and was personable and professional throughout the two days it took us to get our items out of the unit. gotta say - The BELMONT Public Storage was the greatest experience one could have. gotta give TONS of Kudo's to Steph: she has got to be the Hardest working Prrson in the Entire com. she is a busy bee and super worker ant and social butterfly all rolled into one. she had a great demeanor- wond personality and a phenomenal work ethic. can I tell U - the Belmont property Has got to be the cleanest, well maintained and customers are never left hanging with little to no responses when messages are left at the office, phone or in person. I've spent several years at another local storage 3 and I wish I had known about this faculty firs; Steph ( these Belmont employees) are always checking, cleaning, organizing and/or engaging in the Property: its super clean- ALWAYS being kept up, touched up or being tended to; can't say the same thing for another local facility. I can't express enough about how great this HS are maintained, staff is super engaging & go the extra yard to make one feel as if they are the most important customer: that's with everyone!!! i even saw her engage a couple of "SUS" individuals and she was super professional, letting people know the office paid attention to everything in the property and there aren't any piles of trash, overgrown weeds or messes around the property- ive been here many months & I HAVEN'T had screws or nails in my tires: that was a problem elsewhere; SO, to wrap it up this is the safest, best managed/staffed property in the P-S Company: check out their specials- professionalism and tidy mess: Tell them Heinz sent you !! read more

I hate to bash, but the result is the result. I had a storage unit for a few months and downgraded into a smaller unit on the 2nd of the month. I was charged for both units for that month. No one informed me that I would be responsible for paying for the unit I moved out of, plus the new unit. They absolutely refused to give me a refund or a credit for the following month. Public Storage will never get my business again. Hope that single month rent was worth it when they could have kept me as a long term customer. read more

This manager here, Stephanie, is atrociously unprofessional. In fact, I'd go as far as to say she's a real weirdo, bordering on deviant. She is clearly monitoring the security cameras for more than security purposes. She draws unwarranted conclusions from her spying and actually acts on them. She is rude and unethical, not to mention, she's incorrect and out of line. A friend of mine has a unit here, and when I told him that I needed one for a few months, he told me about his and offered to show me the facility next time he went. So I went with him last week and decided I'd get one, too. I reserved a unit online, taking advantage of the $1 first month deal, which made it work with my budget. When I show up to move-in, I'm told I cannot have the $1 promotion because my account is associated with my friend's. Thus, I am clearly going to store my friend's stuff and "if I want to pull that scam, I can go to another company." They "know" that I currently have my stuff in his unit (which I do not) and that he's going to move his stuff into mine (also not the case.) We were never trying to "scam" anyone. After speaking to several other unhappy customers of Public Storage, it seems like the only scam is them raising the rates by unreasonable amounts without warning, which seems to happen A LOT. Now the disturbing part: There was no reasonable way to associate my friend's name to my account or vice versa. I'm not listed as an emergency contact, we don't belong to the same household, nothing. The only way they could have associated us is from the camera footage of us going in together when he showed me around. That means she would have had to recognize me from the previous visit and then link our accounts immediately when I walked in. This voyeurism is clearly an inappropriate abuse of security cameras, and violates my privacy and my friend's. Seems like she's a little too interested in my friend. I wonder what else she's doing with this footage. read more

She is also very safety conscious, and always ensures that everyone waits for the gate to close after entering or exiting. The property is very clean and functions like a well oiled machine. If you need a storage unit for longer than a few months, check out the locations outside the city, even if you live in downtown San Francisco. Reason/example: Public Storage is a chain. I rented a 10 X 10 unit at a Public Storage in SF at around $340/month. While there, the rep told me branches outside the city were cheaper, but I figured "yeah you know how that is - they're probably like $20/month cheaper." Wrong. A 10 X10 unit at this location, San Mateo, or Redwood City can be had for more like $100-130/month. That's over $200/month difference -- 1/3 the price. True, its much less convenient to have your storage on the peninsula if you live in SF. But if you don't need to go to it very often, like let's say once a month, ask yourself this: Would you make a quick roundtrip from SF to San Mateo for $200 cash? And don't complain "cool but I don't have a car" because many of these places are right next to a Caltrains station, so again if you don't need to visit the unit very often, it's like a $10 roundtrip to be saving much more money every month. read more

First month is FREE, yes. I've rented the ground floor for $189/mo. Easy access. After 4 months, this place raised to $209 per month. My boyfriend now rented the small storage for $89/mo for 6 months. Today, just got a notice it will raise to $102/month. Bad business practice. BTW, you must cancel your storage before the 1st of the month or else you will lost the whole month storage fees even you empty it on the 2nd. Be aware! read more

After a few years of stashing things here, it was getting to the point where the cost of storing things was more expensive than the value of things I had stored... The move-out process was super simple. I just told the guy at the office that I was done, we went to look that the unit was, in fact, cleared out, and they stopped auto-charging my credit card. They'll only pro-rate the month if you move out in the first week, so if you miss that, you might as well move out on the 30th. If you are looking to store stuff here, bring *two keyed padlocks* with you, since you can probably get them cheaper on your own rather than buying from them. You can also count on regular rent increases ... over the ~3 years I was paying for storage, the cost probably went up at least 30%. Other than the cost, I had no complaints! I really did appreciate the push-carts near the elevators that were available for anyone's use! read more

Great service from Stephanie at this location. We originally wanted a spot at the public storage on Delaware St in San Mateo, but as our rental date came up, the storage size we tried to reserve ran out. Steph was very proactive at predicting this would happen and offered to show your me around some storage units at this location instead. She got us a better price for a better size based off of what was available and we reserved it as soon as the tour was over. Steph is knowledgeable about how these storage rentals go. We are super happy with the space and deal we ended getting, even though it wasn't what we were expecting. read more

The staff at this public storage is really nice, but over the course of 4 years, my monthly bill for a 5x10 storage unit went from $80ish to $110ish. It was a pretty big jump. I do like that the gate is secured and the location is right off the freeway. In regards to the comments below, I'd never had any security issues nor had I witnessed any evidence that other units were tampered with. But...I'd bet my money you can find the same elsewhere, much cheaper. read more

Go here for storage. Recommend: the staff, very friendly. Renee took care of me, I highly recommend her. Also, you'll get a better price if you book on-line before coming in. I will change this to higher rating if the following things happen: lighting change. The outside units needs light switch on BOTH ends. Once it gets dark and the lights go out, you are stuck going down a long corridor in pitch black, not cool. A night light or sub-light needs to be put in at the very least or warning that the light is about to go out. or set the timer for a LOT longer than it is. Better yet, set the timer for the same time as business hours. I understand that motion detective lights works for the units in the main building but not for outside, however appropriate lighting is needed from mid afternoon to evening for all units. Not down the hall, not natural light, not part of the time, but the whole time you are there. esp. after you have been binge watching walking dead! read more

I initially chose Public Storage (O'Neill site) because they were near me and the pricing was reasonable. I was checked in by a fellow named Chris. I was a bit late for my appointment and another customer was early and there were others coming in to pay there rent. Chris' customer service skills are incredible while signing me up he was able to engage another customer and almost made them happy that they had to wait! I wish I could hire three Chris' for my business! He was thorough, professional, articulate and pleasant. I am happy to be renting a unit at an establishment that has employees that truly enjoy their jobs. Happy employees make happy customers. Good job Public Storage! Abysmal. The only word I can use to describe my experience. I stopped in on the morning of March 19th to request pricing and to view the facilities to determine best option for my needs. I walked into the office and the fellow behind the counter was on the phone with another client explaining to him why he wasn't entitled to a credit, irrespective of the fact that he cleared out of his locker and had previously given notice. The associate appeared smug and was smiling as he repeated himself to the client on the phone. Meantime, he did not acknowledge my presence with so much as a nod. Fine -- he was with another client. I was waiting for sometime, and began to walk toward the restroom -- as I got to the door, he stopped me and told me it wasn't available and was out of order. It was clear as I looked in that it was in fine condition and was now intended just for employee use (even though it was accessible and apparently for customers as well.) He finally gets off the phone and asked how he could assist me. I indicated I was interested in prices and availability for a 10x10 and 10x15, which are both described in the brochure on the counter. He proceeds to share prices for a 10x10 and 10x14. I then responded, what about a 10x15? He retorted: "if I had a 10x15, I'd have given you a price for a 10x15". I apologized for my question and then commented that I wasn't aware that they had a 10x14, as it wasn't presented as an option in their brochure. Then I asked if I could take a look at what's available. He appeared to have been put out by this request (gave me a look -- that I'm sure anyone reading this has seen before), exhaled and said ok. I stepped out while he was getting keys and went to my car to drop off my coffee mug. I stood next to my car, waiting for him. He steps out, locks the door to the office and then looked at me (I was about 15 feet away) and proceeded with the comment: "are you coming with me or are you just going to go off and do your own thing? I thought you wanted to see what we have." I responded that I was no longer interested in using Public Storage -- his attitude was the reason -- and that I'd take my business elsewhere. This was 20 mins of my life I lost forever. I rarely write reviews, but felt this abhorrent example of the worst kind of customer service warranted a detailed review.
