Do not be fooled by the prices on their website. Public Storage lures you in with what looks like a fair monthly rate, then hits you with massive increases once your stuff is locked inside their unit. Here's what actually happened to me: within the first few months, they jacked up my rate by 50%. Then came another 50% increase not long after. I'm now paying double what I originally signed up for. Double. The rate on their website right now for my same unit size is still showing that original low price, which means the next person who walks in will get the same bait-and-switch treatment I did. They know exactly what they're doing. Once your belongings are in there, moving everything out is a huge pain - so most people just eat the cost. It's a trap disguised as a storage unit. If you're considering Public Storage, do yourself a favor: ask them directly what your rate will be in 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months. Get it in writing. Because what they advertise and what you'll actually end up paying are two very different numbers. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. read more

I rented a storage unit here for about a year, and my experience was disappointing from start to finish. When I moved out on the 1st, I was required to pay for the entire month -- no prorating -- even though I no longer occupied the unit. On top of that, they raised my rent by $100 during my rental period with very little notice. Throughout my time here, the gate was frequently broken, causing inconvenience and access issues. To make matters worse, the neighboring unit leaked water or oil into mine, which management never seemed to address properly. The staff simply repeated company policy whenever I raised concerns, which made it clear that customer satisfaction isn't a priority. I won't be renting here again, and I'll make sure my company takes its business elsewhere. read more

Great Self Storage. Clean, secure and nice staff. But you have to make an appointment, don't go there without one, there maybe nobody there. I was the first floor on a 5x10 and I moved to the second floor paying the same price. They have good prices. For me it's been working great. The only thing is I believe they should have more carts, they have only 4, two on each entrance. On a busy day you may have to wait to use your storage. read more

While the place is clean and run well, it's unfortunate that they don't always honor their word or show compassion. We had a catastrophic flood situation (with ongoing floor and wall repair, and subfloor repair), and explained that due to this unforseen event we needed to keep storage much longer than we'd hoped for. Initially we had some luck in petitioning a few of the multiple rate increases we've been subjected to - but a newer manager showed zero compassion and seemingly went out of their way to make a very difficult situation even harder. After ALWAYS paying on time, when my husband's credit card needed to be replaced, their system failed to allow us to change the auto-pay - and even though we left messages about this, they did not take any responsibility for their system's error. It seems that we were then penalized for even bringing it to their attention - not only were we subjected to unfair late fees for two months in a row, we suddenly received a DOUBLE rate increase, with no warning. I guess some people enjoy wielding power over others. It's frustrating since we are also seniors with limited income, particularly now that the stress of of situation has exacerbated a serous medical condition, leaving one of us temporarily unemployed. That said, we will always look at the bright side and feel blessed no matter what. I just hope that people capable of being so callous are never subjected to similar behavior, because I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone. read more

We are both older and had many questions about the size of the unit we needed and price was also paramount. Stacy went beyond our expectations with showing us the choices of available units and the price that best fit our needs. She made us feel so comfortable that we felt like old friends. I was inquiring about a unit you have coming open soon, Lane was very pleasant had answers for all my question regarding renting the unit. I hesitated to leave a review because so many people only leave reviews when they're unhappy. This time I'm sick of this place. I've been a client here for 2-3 months, and am quite disappointed with the experience. On at least two occasions, there have been no paper towels in the restroom, there's no toilet paper this time, not nearly enough carts to help with heavy items (and it hasn't been busy, either, and I've looked on both floors for one), there's been a spill on the floor for at least three weeks, nobody in the office the last two times I've come by, not a single trash can except in the restroom. I could go on, but hopefully this gets the point across. I've been to multiple storage units and never found so many issues as this one has. This place only gets two stars because it's fairly new and decently priced. read more

DON'T RENT HERE!! BEWARE! They will get you in with a low rate only to hike it up a few months later - by a HUGE amount! I chose this spot because it was new, clean and relatively empty. I liked that it was climate controlled and had a friendly front desk staff. I signed up for the unit after Brenda showed it to me during a site inspection. I asked her about rate increases and she assured me that they don't raise rates much or often - maybe $4, she said was the most she'd seen. 5 months after I moved all my things in, I get a postcard notice that my rate is going up 30%!!! No explanation, no negotiation, just a huge hike - pay it or leave. That was the message I got from Anthony the "manager" who I called to discuss the increase. He said he would try to check with upper management to see if there was something that could be done, but again, no compromise. They raised rates because they can. Space is good. Couple issues. Very few carts. I had to move in without one which sucked. registered online and accepted insurance so I could get in without waiting for Office hours. They were we supposed to email code, but didn't until I checked into the office. Was told they would allow disc lock instead of cylinder lock but they wouldn't allow it when I got there so I was made to buy a cylinder lock. Access code not required for elevator even though box is there. Door to building remains open so if you are inside fence (requires code), you can just walk in otherwise clean and bright read more

I needed a storage that was safe and this place is really really locked up (in a good way) and extremely clean. I was able to do everything online and they even had my lock waiting for me in my unit! The only bummer from what I've heard from another customer when I was loading stuff is that sometimes people are greedy and don't put back the loading carts. Meaning that if you're going here please be kind and put back the cart so the rest of us can use them. read more

Horrible experience! Beware they draw you in with it being new, cheap prices and rates and lots of space only to raise the rent 40% and I was only there 4 months! I'm writing about an outstanding employee named "Scott" at this Public Storage, located at 20292 Cooks Bay Dr, Lake Forest, CA 92630. First, this facility is always staffed and clean, has plenty of carts, supplies, and an extremely positive vibe. (I've been using "only" this Publis Storage since 2019) A few weeks ago, i had a problem updating my account and couldn't figure out what to do. I called and Scott immediately reassured me he would help me! He went way over and above. Scott explained what I needed to do, was patient, kind and as I was freaking out with my computer, he calmly repeated each step, paused, and continued till all my questions were answered, problems solved, and even helped me update other issues like a change in email accounts, phone number, and the like.
