We have had a great experience so far. We are almost a year into our unit and we've just recently went from a tiny closet size storage unit to a larger unit. The upgrade went quick and we were shown lots of units until we found the one that worked best for our needs. The manager is amazing and friendly. The facility is older but kept clean. They have an app that makes getting into the facility easier and out unit also is a touch pad lock using the app so we don't have to ever remember our keys to the storage unit. Extremely over priced. This company raises rent at least 2x a year. My total cost has doubled. I've seen cockroaches, black widows, other spiders, & grasshoppers, all of which I did NOT bring with me!!!! My belongings have bugs now due to this company not properly cleaning the premises. They're not sweeping up the leaves, debris, bugs, spiderwebs, etc. that's accumulating on the property. There's spiderwebs on the pin pad when you're entering. Showed up and was told "I was not in the system. Lost opportunity." I have multiple emails showing confirmed. I even went on line a few days ago and changed the move in date. I showed the staff person my confirmation email and he just kept saying "you are not in my system, lost opportunity ". After some back and forth he said he could make a new reservation at the rate I had ($44) if I booked for 4 months. No problem. He rang it all up and said $339. He had added insurance I did not need without asking. I told him to take it off. He scoffed and did. Then said $279. I asked how we got there and he said $55 a month. At that point my wife jumped in and said "you JUST said $44 if we did 4 months" He replied in the most pompous way possible "no I did not". If I make a reservation and you confirm the reservation and you don't notify me of cancelling the reservation and I do all the work of being my stuff and then your rude staff person arbitrarily cancels and then tries to slide in extra costs on a new reservation I am done with you. NEVER giving you business again. You wasted my time, treated me rudely, and did not honor your commitment. I don't trust your company at all. read more

Really read the fine print on your contracts, y'all. They lure you in with a great deal (I think I got something like $95/mo for a 5x10 space). Here's what they don't tell you: --They will charge you $30 for a lock because their units use special locks. --They will charge you $30/mo for insurance. --They will INCREASE YOUR MONTHLY RATE BY 90% AFTER THREE MONTHS! They say they send a letter in the mail about the rate increase. An email would be better, but I assume this is the company plan to skirt around being truly transparent. The good news (I guess) is that I was able to get out of there within a day and not charged the higher price. I would not recommend this facility for these reasons. read more

5 star review for both Amanda and Sabina for their professionalism and phenomenal customer service. RV and trailer parking lot has been repaved along with a lot of other renovations and repairs. Book your reservation for storage online - it's definitely cheaper than just walking in. Unfortunately, we had our trailer broken into and items were stolen. The manager Amanda viewed hours of surveillance from her 24 hour cameras and located the theft on video. While there wasn't too much more that she or anyone else could really do at that point, she remained in touch with us offering both her care and support. What more can you ask for? We've successfully vacated the storage unit, thank goodness. But this is the most convenient place to store our trailer, as far as proximity to our house. But we're still looking for an alternative... BECAUSE THE RENT WENT UP AGAIN. And the parking area where the trailers are stored is a complete piece of crap. There's huge pot holes you have to drive through....hey how about with all the extra money you raise everyone's rent all the time, fix your shitty parking lot? What an idea! Might make people less irritated with how you overcharge, and raise the rents constantly, if you actually kept the place up. Read my previous reviews. I have to say I am impressed with the professionalism and knowledge Amanda has showed us! We have been looking at different storage places around town and found some decent ones, but this one seems legit. Not only did she know her stuff and was very informative and direct with the rules and procedures for the renters, she also reassured safety. As we toured the place, I noticed the gate always locked unless you have a code or buzzed in, her office is right by the entrance, so she has eyes around, and driving around there weren't people like hanging out loitering which was my main concern. She doesn't allow people loitering all day there. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone as long as she is running the place! She must care about her work because it definitely shows and stands apart against the other storage areas that's for sure! read more

We got our storage for $120 per month which was reasonable. But then they raised rates by over 80% to $212 in the 1 year we have used the storage. They price gouge their customers and it should be illegal to raise your rates that much. Not a good storage facility or unit. Then their fix is downsizing which was still $150. So talking to you all is a joke. You won't keep clients when you screw them over constantly. Horrible storage facility and I'll be telling all my friends/family to stay away. So fed up with this place. If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. They obviously don't care about their clients during a pandemic. Imagine how they'll treat you when that ends read more

I had a very good experience calling in and also getting set up in person here at extra space. James helped me get set up with a 5x5 unit that was actually ended up being more space than I needed. Have been using this location for many years. Each year they raise rates considerably. Next month going up another 10 %. At least they used to offer 13 months for the price of 12 with prepayment. I was told that policy was still being offered when I paid my 12 months in advance today. Then I was notified they no longer offer that benefit. I felt I was misled and if I was in a position to move my stuff now I would. I suggest checking other storage options if you can. They are expensive and just keep going up once they get you in! read more

Im giving the facility 1 stars due the employees who maintain the place (friendly and nice) but the low rating is due to my overall experience. I rented a unit for over 3 years and each year i received a price increase (of over $20) so started at $91 and as of last month my payments were over $150. I never received a notification and just happened to check my bank statement and noticed the payments when i called to question. I was told we contacted everyone to inform them of the increase... BS!!! I was in a couple months earlier to update my creditcard on file and confirmed my mailing adress (which had been updated several months prior) and that was the reason for not getting notified. Aparently i never updated my mailing address... again BS!!! I moved storage and amhave same size unit and only paying $51 and was told my new facility does increase dues but no more then $3 to $5 a year if that even... she also stated that it sounds like extra storage is scamming since its location caters to military and with these types of non-notifying increasements if one is deployed theres little one can do and have to pay.. read more

The staff acted friendly and helpful to my face but when dealing with the police I got a different story. Turns out the management knew the thieves and did not cooperate with the police to apprehend them. Their claims department also does not handle the cases made against them and has given me the runaround for close to two years now. Location is good, I like that everything is ground level. I love the access hours, probably the earliest and latest opened (more than any other storage in oceanside). Staff are friendly and answer all and any questions. Very patient and they give you a tour. The truck they let you barrow is pretty old an janky. The building looks kind of old as well. My only complaint is the lighting sucks, storage doesn't have a light bulb inside to check or look for items so If you're going there a flashlight is needed. My other complaint is that there in no/ or enough adequate equipment to help move. read more

I inherited two very large storage units after my father's death..... That coupled with everything else that tags along with a death just added so much weight to my shoulders. The staff have been extremely kind and patient with fielding all of my questions. When I've asked for suggestions they gave me several options, all from an understanding and genuine place. I have no complaints about the facility itself. I have always felt that the pile of stuff I inherited was safe and secure. It's not cluttered with randomness. And the "gate time" is super flexible. Based on customer service alone I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Oh, and by the way, a year after my dad's death, the staff still remembers his name. The staff are amazing. read more

In November 2013 I entered into a monthly contract for storage with Extra Space Storage, formerly Huckleberry fin storage. The Extra Space Storage hired a woman and young man to run the new operation for the month when I moved in. The two employees were accommodating and helpful. In December 2013 I cleared out my storage unit and went into the office to advise them I would be leaving and vacating the unit. The Managere DAVID MENA, was behind the counter and told me he was leaving soon at 6 pm so I had better hurry. I quickly placed items from my space. I asked DAVID MENA to help me lift a box to the roof of my car and if he could help me with the tie-downs.I couldn't reach them correctly or secure them. His response, "Oh this is not part of my job, I don't normally do this." He quickly walked away and refused to help me tie - down my items. It's already dark, 6 pm, it started raining to make things more miserable. After attempting to tie-down my boxes for my 1 1/2 hour drive north on I-15, I leave the location. Getting onto the highway 15 north experience; someone pulled out in front of me causing me to stop quickly while TRYING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY AT RUSH HOUR. The boxes flew forward off my vehicle and exploded when they hit the pavement. Now it was a down pour from the rain. My large box of beautiful shoes exploded on the freeway and shoes were everywhere. I managed to cause a traffic jam, gather my things and get them temporarily situationed on the roof, tied down again and slowly drove the freeway to the next exit. I drove into a gas station and paid a homeless guy $10 to help me tie-down my boxes securely. Thank you Extra Space Storage manager- idiot for putting my life in jeopardy on a busy freeway at rush hour in the rain. Just the other day I get a letter from this storage place telling me they put a lien on my space and I was getting fined. Called the storage unit and left a message to call back and talk with me about this. I clearly told them I was leaving and was advised my account would be updated. NO RETURN PHONE CALL. I called again several days later and DAVID MENA, MANAGER answered and asked me what I wanted, told me my name is out of the system and I owe nothing. According to the letter a lien was being placed against me. Sorry lazy Davide, I wanted something in writing telling me my account closed and cleared. This man was very overweight ad showed he does not care enough about his life to be less than the 400-500 lbs he weights. The manager? He's a joke, Rude, condescending, unprofessional to name a few. Never will I use an Extra Space Storage Unit in the future. This manager is a complete moron. Shame on you Extra Space Storage for hiring this clown that is only there for a paycheck at the expense of damaging your branding you worked so hard to engage in.
