    Bait and Switch - Buyer Beware I was planning to list my home for sale and needed to move my personal items out for staging. I had very little time to do this so I found the best/cheapest deal to put my things in storage for 2 1/2 months. I signed up on 3/15/22, moved in on 3/19/22 and it's been a mess ever since - here is the timeline. 3/15/22 signed up for $1 for the first month. Paid $52.04 and invoice (attached) said I would owe $89.60 on 4/1/22. 3/19/33 move in day! We arrived to find the unit I was given was in the back corner of the top floor. I asked Darcy who was helping me if there was a closer 10x10 available and she said yes. I asked to be moved to it, when she proceeded with this transaction I was charged an ADDITIONAL $91.43. When she asked for a review my boyfriend mentioned we hadn't received a refund of the $52.04 yet which was paid previously. She said she would be giving me a refund if that amount (he heard her). She did not mention that my first month for $1 deal would not transfer over to this unit. When I asked her about this later she said, "you didn't ask, I thought you just wanted to move in and it didn't matter". My realtor who was helping me went in and spoke to her as the cost discrepancy was really bothering me! Darcy said she would speak with her manager about the charges and if hear back during the week. I moved in. I received another invoice attached saying I was paying $91.43 (which is now on top of the $52.04 I already paid) and it stated the total rent due on 4/1/22 would be $211. I received another invoice/receipt for my "move of units" showing Payment due was $0. A few weeks go by and I see in the app I owe $211 on April 1. I called and spoke to the manager (a man I didn't get his name) and once I explained the issue he said Darcy didn't finish the transaction and they my $1 for the first month should be applied. He said he would submit a credit request for me. He called me back and asked me to give him a call. When I did he wasn't there but Darcy directed me to call the corporate office. I spoke to the corporate office and the woman was very nice. She helped me get to the bottom of my issue. She said they owed me $211 and because I was incorrectly billed for the first month when it should have been $1 (I think the second deposit was what I should have paid for April). She submitted a refund request and asked that I talk to my Public Storage to make sure they backup the request. Darcy called me and said she said the refund request in the system and she would call me once it's been applied. Some time goes by and I call in to find out status as I have no refunds, only charges. Darcy said, my request was denied. She said I should have asked about the special and since I didn't she didn't think it mattered to me - ummm $211 is a lot of Money. Apparently it's not her job to tell customers about costs associated with changes they make to their rental. During this conversation she said she would submit yet another refund request for the $52.04 and I just got a message saying that was declined because the $1 for the first month special doesn't transfer over from unit to unit. I had never moved anything into the first unit. I had never had a storage before. I was literally looking for the best deal and ended up with the worst. By the time I remove my items from this storage unit I will have paid the following ; $143.47 for the dates 3/19/22-3/31/22 (13 days) $211 for the Month of April $211 for the Month of May Can someone help me understand how a company can bait you in with a $1 for the first month sale, give you the worst unit available, offer a better unit but not tell you the $1 deal isn't going to transfer over and then charge you and additional deposit!? Can someone tell me how every single person I have spoken with said it was wrong and I should be getting refunded, but public storage continues to decline these requests?! My biggest issue with this is, these places know they have your personal items. They know that if you are paying to store them they must be of importance to you and they know these are the reasons they can rip you off. NEVER AGAIN! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

    Be careful when moving in here. For the last week elevators have been shut down and from what i was…read moretold its over nonpayment to keep up to date permits. What a great time to not have access to an elevator right as its time to bring all the Christmas decorations home for the holidays. What would happen if the CUSTOMER didnt pay a bill on time? But lets be serious, the state inspectors do not come out right away to shut down service so i dont want to hear "i forgot"

The biggest reason for 3 stars is the kiosk that never works. What was the point of the company spending money on a kiosk out side, that you can't actually use after business hours??? Of course I can always call and make payment or do online, but that's extra time having to type out your CC number and everything else. The point of a kiosk like this is to simply tap your card quickly, and go. The card reader says "Ready" but when I go to make actual payment, I always get this error message in the picture. They need to fix it once and for all. Has been like this for months. Maybe because not many people use it, but for those of us that do us it, we want it to work! Sometimes in the middle of the night on my way home, I just want to stop by and pay the bill right quick without having to go online or stop and pay over the phone. The elevator in one of the buildings was malfunctioning at one point but they did seem to get that fixed thankfully.
