Great place to store your RV. Concrete pad, on site security, security gated and no trouble. we recently went to pick up our travel trailer to go on our annual two week camping trip. much to our surprise we found out that upper management decided to cut off the water source to fill up our water tank... bummer. We reached out to the on-site manager, Mark. He was very kind and went above and beyond by making some phone calls to find us a water source close by where we can fill up our water tank. close by is the Pleasanton fairgrounds and they were more than happy to let us use their water. It was so nice to actually speak with a HUMAN BEING. These days they make us talk to robots and other fake agents which makes it time consuming and very frustrating to get any kind of business done. We needed a space for our travel trailer, so I called the call center to reserve a space in Castro Valley, however the representative mistakenly quoted me and booked/charged me for Bakersfield, CA really (4 hours away???)? Needless to say, I was very unhappy as I knew the rate for CV would increase a lot, and sure enough it is triple! So, taking matter into my own hands called the CV location direct and left a VM. I received a very prompt call back from Mark the location manager. He made me feel much more secure about the situation, although still pissed that I was quoted one rate and now way higher rate. My husband & I went to see Mark in person to rent the space. This took way longer than necessary as they just upgraded their computer system, so glitch after glitch. Again, not happy. At least Mark was able to give us a good deal on the 1st 2 months rental fees, so I appreciated that. Truly if it had not been for Mark, I would have left and not rented a space from this company, he saved the business. Let me start off by saying how disturbed I am that I have to write this review! The $$ I pay for this storage location is a complete RIP-OFF!! When I come to my storage locker I have to look at the same dead bugs for weeks which tells me that someone isn't doing their job by cleaning the hallways. Then, I have stopped using the facilities lately because they are DISGUSTING! The garbage is always filled with paper towels, as you can see the toilets are NASTY which to me is a direct reflection of the person in charge. The bathrooms & hallways were always very clean over the summer until about a month ago. The lady in the office, Patricia is also a VERY unpleasant experience any time I have to deal with her. I really enjoyed the other young lady that was the assistant manager, but I guess she is no longer working there. I have NO IDEA what is going on with management but, I hope the owner is made aware of how this expensive establishment of his/hers is going down hill & not worth the price AT ALL!! read more

We've had our RV here for over four years now and I'm happy with the location and the staff. Wide road circles around the entire place making it easy to deal with large rigs, pull in, pull through, and back in places are available for many different sizes. The other renters have all been good people when I've dealt with them. As a bonus this site has a dump station, this makes storing an RV there super easy. You no longer have to dump at your last stop and then tell the family to use gas stations or just hold it until you get home! The prices are comparable to what I found out in Tracy, but it's close to the bay and has the dump station so I think it's a much better value. read more

We called the Castro location from PA on our way to CA, desperate to find a spot for our 34 ft. camper. Due to Covid and the fires, I simply couldn't find a storage space from Vacaville all the w ay down to San Jose. One came open in transit. Kathy from the main dispatch office reached out, and Deidre at the Castro location quickly emailed all the paperwork to me on the road. The drop-off was smooth and she accommodated us through the process of getting everything settled. On a Covid note: the office and bathroom there were extremely clean, and Diedre cleaned and sanitized after we left (I saw this because I left my DL and had to go back - she was wiping down the chair, counter, etc. where I'd sat). I especially appreciated the care to this detail as I'm immune-compromised. read more

You get what you pay for and it is worth paying a bit extra knowing your RV is being stored in a safe facility. Security is what sold us on this storage area. There are many RV's stored here and they have never had a break in. There are security cameras and a secure gated entry. The manager and her son have been very customer oriented. We received a warm welcome and they have been very helpful in providing friendly service and fulfilling our needs. The location is a bit out of the way but for us it is only 15 minutes away and very convenient. Easy on and off Interstate 580 is a plus. read more

Had the worst experience with Lockaway Storage at 8555 Dublin Canyon Blvd. Last month I went to replace an expired credit card; I travel to Italy and because of internet problems I have automatic pay. This month I received a notice my bill wasn't paid. I went out there to correct the problem. The manager, at least she said she was, went crazy at the suggestion she must have entered the card wrong last month. She refused to take my payment and ordered me out of the office. I have rented space there for over 12 years without a problem. One star is to high a rating read more

I booked a reservation a day prior and came in to get long term storage for my sprinter van. I was able to meet with Deidra the manager and she was very helpful and thorough with the process. It is disturbing to see someone else did not get deposit back. They owe me a half month rent and my deposit. They are in violation of California Civil Code by not refunding unpaid rent and deposit within 21 calendar days (CCC 1950.5) I am pursuing this and, if necessary, will go to small claims court and request punitive damages in addition to getting my money back. The office blew me off the other day so I am requesting to get corporate office contact. I am preparing for more runaround. The facility is nice and I LOVED the previous manager (Pamela) but this new group and their unlawful business practices, are a problem. FYI, I moved my RV and boats out to another place paying 1/3 the rent (which was my other beef, they were continually jacking up the rent at Lockaway). "Lockaway"...the name fits them. They will "lock away" your deposit and wont give it back. They better prepare to face the rath because I will absolutely go after them on this one; not for the money but the principle. read more

I've been a customer for several years and have been more than happy with the service. However, I have recently learned that Lockaway has been sold and as a result, there are some important things to note due to this change of ownership. First, the onsite resident manager has been fired and will no longer reside onsite. Furthermore, I have been told (NOT confirmed as yet) that no replacement will be hired and the apartment will be rented out to a tenant not employed by, nor otherwise connected to, Lockaway Storage. This is a HUGE disappointment as the resident manager was an integral aspect of security at Lockaway. On more than one occasion, the manager helped to keep suspicious people from loitering or getting into the facility and involved LE when a given situation called for it. Next - rates. My rates have increased twice in the last 12 months and when I asked about any possible increases due to new ownership, I was told this is very likely. They did not confirm how much the rates would increase but that it would be brought to "market rate" so take from that what you will. On the flip side, I was told that 5-6 tenants immediately gave notice upon learning of the sale so that might help to delay any rate increases. Last - I did not receive any proactive notice re: the sale and new management. On the off chance I just missed mine, I did ask a few other tenants and none of them received a notice either. I guess this isn't mandatory but given that many of us have vehicles onsite, this would have been good to know in advance ESPECIALLY if the security paradigm is changing. I do know having a resident manager there 24x7 was a deciding factor for me and other tenants. read more
