On March 2024, I rented a 10'x15' space and the initial rent was $272/mo. After 4 months rent was increased to $369/mo and then after 9 months they increased my rent to $483. That's 130-135% rate increase, wtf?!! The staff at this location are very nice and responsive although they don't have any control over drastic rent increases by corporate greed. However, they didn't mention to me any of these future, extreme rate increases when I first rented a space. I guess it would turn away customers if they did. read more

do not rent any of the storage units that have chicken wire as a ceiling cover. your items will be rummaged and stolen by the neighboring units if those units are vacant. i called daly city police and a police report was filed. however, i did not have any insurance allocated to my unit, so when management was contacted, it is what it is. you have zero recourse besides the police report filing. moved out immediately when my items were stolen. again, if you see chicken wiring in the storage unit, specifically in the inside units, don't bother. or risk getting your items stolen. read more

Steer clear or hire a friggin lawyer before you sign ANYTHING. They lure you in with low price, double it 3 months later then hike it AGAIN. THEY DO NOT PRORATE. After clearning out after the 3rd price hike in 9 months, emptied the unit on the 1st and they said they HAVE to charge me the the whole month. Did they rent it out and make double their money? You bet they did. Did they say "oh I'll call my manager and see what we can do." Yes. Did they ever get back to me? No. But 3 weeks later they sicced a bill collector on us after refusing to respond to a written letter requesting appeal for the $550 charge FOR NOTHING. Public Storage is corporate nightmare. Avoid. Good clean facilities most of the staff are kind and helpful but stay away from that one ornery lady Virginia I believe is her name. How's your niceness and politeness makes little difference in her retort, just saying. It will hit the brick wall if you try to talk to their customer service help lines as well for any sort of question negotiation and unjustified fees etc. They just want the money. Conveniently located at border of Daly City and Pacifica, CA. Called the facility directly and spoke with Arthur. He was able to find the unit at the right size for me although the website indicated no vacancy. Went to their office and completed the signing process. It was a simple and easy process done with social distancing and mostly digitally. Arthur and the other staff were courteous and professional. Facility is clean and well managed. I hope that this comment will save people's property (both belongings and $). Let's start with fraudulent practice: their 10x30 units are really 10x24. Just FYI they offer 10x5 units for $209 as of the date of this comment (figure out the lost value of your rental that you are being tricked by). I took a video of my movers measuring the unit with a measuring tape. Local management can't do anything about it. Corporate management will point to Section 3 of your Lease/ Rental Agreement which states..."Any description of the size of Your Space is an estimate based on Building Office Management Association standards that does not ensure any specific amount of usable space. Your Space and the Facility have NOT been inspected by a Certified Access Specialist. Before moving in, you examined Your Space and had the opportunity to measure it. You agree that it and the Facility meet your needs and you accept them "As-Is". Good luck, loser! There are complaints about rats - don't worry, if you store your belongings for longer than 2 weeks, they will rot to a condition that no rat will dare to nibble or touch them. The units are on top of the mountain that separates Daly City from Pacifica - constant fog coupled with zero isolation will result in mold growing quicker than you get to pay your first rental bill. Don't deceive yourself that moisture absorbing packets will be a game changer: for large units you will need at least a barrel of this stuff to keep it dry for a week. Road conditions for outside entrance units are terrible and I have not seen dirt being cleaned at any time. Good luck placing your stuff on the ground when loading/unloading. See pics attached. They have RATS, currently have an official complaint with the city filed against them, that's what it took before they wanted to help us. My furniture is covered in rat droppings, children's bags have holes where rats tore into them, the worst part is the employee I filed my first complaint with said they are well aware of the infestation but don't inform the paying customers, they instead bring an exterminator in every week or so around midnight and dispose of all caught rats before the gates open at 9:30 AM. DONT DO IT! We put my son's apt in storage for a couple months while he came hom efor the summer. We rented the unit in May and left in August. In the three months his belonging were ther everything was damp and molded. Not only did it ruin his clothes but it ruined his bed. Even the TV didn't work when we brought it home and plugged it in. The insurance they have and sell doesn't cover it, only flood or water damage, not MOLD. They do not have climate control it the units to aviod this. I would not advise to use this storage for short or long term. read more

Until my last review, I had never taken the time to review a storage place but once again, I found myself really impressed with the customer service that was provided when we dropped off our travel trailer yesterday. My wife and I are constantly moving our trailer around the country and utilize a different storage facility almost every month when we have to work. I've come to expect an "average" customer service experience is usually the best that one can expect with these types of businesses but Arthur (or Art) went above and beyond to be accommodating, efficient and professional. The worst place I had ever been. The area always has a film of dust blowing into the storage lockers so your stuff gets dirty and you get dirty when you try to open the door. The lighting in the units is by a single 40w bulb. There are no restrooms available at all, because it is always broken. And there is no way to get in or out without the code, they even locked the pedestrian gate, which I am sure is a violation of a fire code and completely illegal. The place only had 3 parking spaces up front. Some people park their car in front because they don't remember their code. read more

First off, I want to say the staff are really nice and this is no complaint against them. The issue is they STILL HAVE RATS!!! I went this weekend to clean out my storage unit that I only had for 5 months. I didn't store furniture, just bags and boxes of clothes and personal belongings. I moved back to Washington and came back to tie this up along with some other things. First off, I couldn't locate my storage keys so I had to have a locksmith come out. After he popped off the lock I noticed that a taco seasoning packet was on the floor. It looked liked it had been shredded. So when I picked it up I noticed small teeth marks, it freaked me out like no other!! I mean I paid $174 a month to have this !! Thankfully I was able to move out this weekend. I threw away items that I felt were compromised. The woman who was there was nice enough to help me get the remaining items out of my storage unit and to ensure there were no rats / mice traveling to Washington with me. I would say do not pack spice as I think that's what attracted the rodents.. Be careful!! read more

So far so good... Friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is lighting in the units and they even have a bathroom. Only negative is there is only a freight elevator available that passengers can not ride so you have to walk up and down stairs to the second floor units. The elevators can also be occupied by others easily on the weekend, so be prepared to take turns or share the elevator with others as a result. read more

We used public storage when we needed to empty the contents of a home. We were able to rent a 10x30 locker, which was clean and available. The process to rent was easy and the staff was helpful. Over the months we rented the locker, we asked the staff to check on it (we live in a different area), and they were always helpful and responsive. They never failed to call back when they said they would, and they were always courteous and prompt. When it was time to clear the locker, we were in a hurry - called ahead and Art even met us at the locker and had all of the needed paperwork ready to go! We were on our way in 5 minutes. Consistently good service and availability of the right locker - we were really pleased and would use this firm again. read more

One star because there's not an option for none. We rented a truck this morning to help my mother-in-law clean out her storage, we've been here for THREE HOURS trying to get ahold of an attend and no one is here! We've left messages with the property manager and district manager, and no one has returned our calls. We spoke with corporate customer service and they were supposedly sending someone over from another location about an hour ago. The last customer service agent I spoke with hung up on me because I was mad she told me the manager had 24-48 hours to respond! The office was supposed to be open at 9:30am, it's 12:35...they are NOT open. They changed the storage lock without permission and now we've wasted an entire day and rental because of this company's disregard for their customers and lack of professionalism all around. I've been using public storage for a few years and so far this is my favorite location yet. The ease of access to each unit is very good as well as being close to 280. The place has a rolling gate which protects all of the units and security cameras throughout. When I first came to this location I met with Art who is very friendly along with all of the staff here. He took us through 5 or so units and was very patient as I had a bunch of measurements to take. Since then I have zero complaints. The other day I lost my keys to my unit and it just so happened that Art had them at the office. He saved me a bunch of time and frustration by holding on to them. What a TOTAL disappointment!!! This place has been a little bit of a nightmare. Our 1st unit here ended up destroying our stuff with mold/mildew. The unit ended-up getting very smelly, had a lot of black widow spiders, dirt, leafs coming in with the wind & we even got a LIVE frog in there. Their doors are old, heavy & hard to lift up, they don't shut correctly thus allowing for everything to get in. We lost 70% of our stuff do to the mold & ended up having to take things to the dumpster. Our entire bedroom set was damaged along with many other items. They gave us a "supposedly" better unit not out in the ground level but on their 2nd floor of one of their buildings (indoor units). At first things looked promising but then they got just as bad or worst. They have a rat infestation, the unit started smelling with all the rat urine & poop. The entrance area towards the stairs smells horrific (human urine). The elevator is old & dark, the entire place is in desperate NEED of replacement. The manager is nice but nice does NOT replace the mold, rat urine, rat poop, black widow spiders, dirt & horrific stench!!! Their prices are way too expensive for the service that they provide. Totally discussing & they have an "Insurance Coverage" that you can add to the monthly payment but we'll see if we get anything from them. Unfortunate with some items, NO amount of money can replace those things......We totally DO NOT recommend this place, good luck to all who will try it out! Oh & by the way, their entrance gate is often NOT working. The keypad from the inside is often broken, so when you pull up to exit the gate it will NOT open after you enter your code. In fact, more often than NOT, they have a sign stating it is out of service. You'll have to get out of your car & walk over to the outer keypad to put your code in & then run back into your car before the time closes the gale. It is totally FUN in bad weather, cough NOT!!! read more

If I could give a negative or better yet a bag of burning SH*T for a review this would be it. When it was Shugard storage we had rented a spot for well over a year with no problems. The month Public Storage came in over 5 storage units were robbed and left open. NO one was contacted. I came to find my items smashed and stolen. Public Storage's answer sorry you didn't have insurance and we are in transition. Thousands of dollars gone. I will never forgive the wrecklessness of such a suck ass company. DO NOT TRUST them. This has to be the worst storage location in the bay area! While it's fairly easy to get to and far cheaper than anything in the city, it's damp! It's just too close to the ocean and not climate controlled. You will save money but be careful what you are storing. I became very worried about my stuff being ruined by mildew. The cheaper units are on the second floor which has a freight elevator. However, I often had trouble finding a cart anywhere near these units. read more
