If you're looking for storage, this is the spot! I'm sure it's the best on Treasure Island, and the rates must be the best within San Francisco! My mother, Seema, and I have used this storage unit for just over 3 years now and we've had absolutely not one issue in any aspect. The reception staff at the front, namely a sweet guy named Mike, will greet you at the office area to help you get set up. They've got great deals and a variety of options to choose from. I feel super safe as a small woman in this storage unit because of the kind security! Their security team is very understanding and will make you feel as safe as you need. I'm not sure what "mold" that girl from 2018 is talking about... The unit we used was very clean and did NOT SMELL at all. I was kind of scared to store my dorm stuff here over the summer (3 months) because some of the other reviews talked about mold and whatever. The day I moved in my stuff, it was raining really hard so I was especially worried. Well, I'm glad to say that I just picked my stuff up and moved it out of storage a few hours ago. No mold or anything like that whatsoever. Keep in mind that I had stored things that got wet from the rain. Very satisfied with this place! Not too far from the center of San Francisco and is accessible through the Bay Bridge. From start to end, the staff were really helpful, patient, and polite. To access my small storage unit I had to call a worker over to open the larger unit, which are the shipping containers you see on the ships. In each metal shipping container are multiple smaller units depending on the size. Quite secure. The low prices is what I chose this place for! Not the prettiest or fanciest but it gets the job done without breaking the bank. They also returned the $45 to my card. I highly recommend this place and would consider this place again. read more

BEWARE! DON'T WALK... RUN!!!!! I lost everything that I owned. I was in the process of a move and put everything that I owned into storage... The storage container leaked from the back of the unit and black mold crept to the front. It happens all of the time. It happened to several people while I was there. I kept my damaged stuff there trying to get my insurance to cover part of it and even though it was a total loss, the owners bullied and threatened me. They kept taking out the rent and insurance from my bank account and said that if I stopped it that I wouldn't be able to have the items to show the insurance... that they would consider it abandoned and sell it off... It's not safe. It's scary. There are people living onsite and they have mean dogs. They are burners and are living in campers and using the units as home. There are drugs and violence. Many loud fights and the dogs going after people. The owners are the worst of the worst. The business name and who you can go after changes. They are super shifty and I cannot express to you how they stood over me and threatened me as I was in shock and crying. They kept sucking money from me and saw me crying over family heirlooms, pictures of my daughter and EVERYTHING that I owned. My insurance company quit counting at $300,000 because it just didn't matter anymore. I ended up only getting about $8,000 which was eaten up by the extra time I had to pay to store my molding items and the cost for hazmat to come out and assess it. Great Location! Easy Access! Huge units! My husband and I run a seasonal business in SF which requires storage once a year for 2 to 3 months and I found Island Park a few years ago. I've stored items at Island Park Storage for more than 2 years, much to my great regret now. The last time I visited my unit, all of the contents were wet from giant condensation droplets that had formed on its interior. The ceiling of the metal shipping storage container was covered with water drops, each the size of a nickel or larger. As the drops formed and dropped onto my belongings they became moldy and destroyed. There were pools of water collected on the floor and in the tops of plastic storage bin lids. Metal furniture was covered in rust and wood furniture had green moss growing on it. Papers and fabrics were destroyed and covered with black mold. The metal ceiling and walls of the container had areas covered in black mold spread throughout the container. The smell of mold in the container was sickening. I contacted Island Park Storage via email to inform them that this problem had occurred and that all of the belongings I'd stored there specifically to keep them out of the way and safe from construction going on at my home. Initially, Mike, who replied to my email was apologetic and he assured me they would makie right the situation and that the owners were speaking to their insurance company and would reply to me promptly. I'd asked them to simply reimburse the storage fees I'd paid over two years and that if they did that, I would be satisfied and would not pursue reimbursement for the items I'd stored. After not receiving responses from the owners/managers of Island Park Storage, I contacted Mike via phone to request his assurance that I would not be charged any additional storage fees. He promised me that I would not and I asked him to follow up with an email stating that I would not be charged any further fees while we waited for the situation to be resolved. That was last month. I've just seen that they charged me $225 at the end of December--making them both liars and thieves, in addition to being a terrible business with absolutely no regard for customers or their belongings. I have begun the process of suing them in Small Claims Court to get back the two years' worth of storage fees I paid them to ruin my stored items. I could have saved myself the money and just left everything out in the rain or run over it all with my van. Meanwhile, they've blocked my email address so my email to them requesting a reversal of their most recent charge bounced back. I guess this is an invitation for me to visit them in person at their office with a video camera and a group of friends? Meanwhile, you can see the three other (not-bogus, 5-star) reviews here wherein another customer reports of the same outrageous giant condensation destroying all of her belongings and her also having been lied to by Island Park Storage's owners/managers and generally treated very poorly. And the other two reporting how poorly they were treated with one listing several detailed points about the lack of security, the lack of concern for safety of customer's stored goods, and, if it's of interest to you, the concerning issue with radioactivity on/near the lots where customers items are stored. DO NOT STORE ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT AT THIS FACILITY! The containers they rent are faulty and allow/cause magnificently excessive moisture to form on the inside of the containers leaving your stored items soaked and covered in mold, rust, and moss. The owners and managers are con artists, charlatans, and liars who are clearly fine with stealing from their customers and bullying them when they complain about their items having been ruined. Island Park Storage was honestly such a gem. The attendants were very friendly people who go out of their way to cater to customers' needs. My girlfriend and I have been patrons of the business on two separate occasions and have used their boat storage and their dolly rentals; it was the smoothest service I could have possible asked for, as prices were transparent and the whole process was easy. I was a client for 9 months - in March everything changed when we had our containers opened and ransacked for several hours late one night. The thieves (in my opinion - it was not a raccoon- but a group of more than one by the damage and theft done) gained entrance where an internal hodge podge mismatched security fence had been pushed over (held together with a piece of wire). No one saw it including employees that work for the company (security?) It was not caught on cameras are there are no cameras in the area, And we could not check who was in the area or not as - the security lock is a manual lock on a chain. 1. Read what you sign - Island Park Storage and the owners and managers are not responsible for anything that could go wrong - i.e. theft, damage or any other problem you might have. Zero responsibility. Then check your insurance policy and what they do and do not cover (if a security fence was never installed properly and you notify the owners of the storage unit and they ignore repeated requests, do not fix it and a loss happens some insurance companies (State Farm) might say no way we are not covering that.... 2. Ask to meet the security team and the onsite live-in manager. Just ask... 3. Ask about access codes and when the last time the "manual pad lock was updated." I am not sure but a padlock is not very technology friendly when you might want to know who was in the lot that could have broken into a unit. 4. Ask to see where are the security cameras are for each of the areas you might store your items. Again, its helpful to actually have live cameras recording who is coming and going into a "secured area." 5. Ask to see yesterday's security tapes for the storage area you are getting ready to rent. Well if there are only a few cameras in only a few areas (not all the exit and entrances) then there are not going to be very many in any tapes that might show your container or vehicle or whatever you are storing in a "secured lot." 6. Check out the Treasure Island reports about radio-active contamination. May 11, 2015 another remediation project started that borders a couple of their rental lots - 4th street - between Avenue M and N. Ask what used to be on the land and then do your own research. 7. If you have a container - Make sure you double lock your unit with the best locks you can purchase (not the ones they sell)- making it harder for others to gain access or to lock you out of the container for any reason at any time. Security Rating 0 Professionalism when a problems occurs Rating 0 View Rating 5 Weather Rating 2 (very windy and when it rains it pours) hopefully your container is on pavement vs ground - just make you if its on the ground bring mud boots Have a problem - write it down, send the owners a message and document everything - know your rights, what they can and can not charge for and it might save you time when they ask you to leave. read more

I helped my parents move a week ago. We needed a storage place, somewhere that could accommodate they're belongings and also an old motorcycle. After some research we booked 2 units at Island Park Storage. The process was pretty easy, the guys really explained everything and we were done in like twenty minutes.  They showed us the units and they were both nice and clean. The prices were great. I really appreciate how they made my parents feel at ease, my dad was very hesitant ( didn't like the idea of leaving belongings away from his house). I was glad they had a smaller space available, so I wouldn't have to pay for more than I needed. They are great people that really care about customers needs. It's not safe to store stuff here or park vehicles here. In the few years I was there, I was in two different storage units. Both leaked and ruined my stuff with the resulting mold. Miss C, in another review, has detailed the leaking/condensation problem she experienced which is the same as mine. Giant droplets of water covering the ceiling of the entire unit. So it's a crapshoot if and when your container/unit will leak. I also had a parking space there. When my camper was in the parking space, the batteries were stolen as well as extension cords. When I had my car in the parking space too, someone spray painted one of my wheels and tried to steal the set of wheels, leaving my car on a jack stand. One of the wheels had two missing lug nuts and the remaining three were loose - not even finger tight! The gate is never locked anymore, not even in the dead of night. There are various people living in their vehicles and storage spaces in their facilities, including a sectioned off "compound" in one of the storage areas where what clearly amount to meth heads busy themselves collecting and dismantling junk and littering it about the place. read more

This was my very first experience with storing my staff somewhere else than in family or friends houses. Since I'm leaving back home for couple months and will be moving to a new apartment when I get back this way of storage was my choice number one and I am absolutely happy for that! I appreciate all the work around like couple advices for the first time using this service or a big help with loading! We had our household items there for 4.5 years and a significant amount of mold was developed and resulted in us throwing away most of what we stored and paying money to remediate the rest. The mold experts we worked with attributed this issue to the nature of the storage units that are not ventilated. The staff was friendly and I have no complaints about them at all. My advice is- only use it for a short period of time and inspect frequently. read more

I used this place when I moved a few weeks back. Had no trouble whatsoever and the whole process was smooth. Finding a storage in the bay area is usually but this place proved me wrong! Getting the rates either over the phone or in person was easy and was replied by friendly employees. The place is very easy access and I had no trouble moving my furnitures and belongings there for a week and a half when I moved. We won a $3,063 judgment in SF Small Claims Court against Island Park Storage as restitution for the storage fees we paid them for a leaky unit. The judge said the contract terms that waived all liability for water damage were "unconscionable" and "overreaching" and therefore not enforceable. Of course, Island Park has not paid the judgment b/c they are a bunch of frauds who don't comply with the law. I will obtain sanctions against them next for contempt of court. Good luck to those of you who have had your possessions destroyed by the water and mold at this place. read more

Everything was stolen. My family and I moved to a furnished apartment in September for a three month training program with my job, so we put most of our belongings in a unit with Island Park Storage, knowing we would be moving out of state after training. It ended up being a huge mistake. Everything we own was stolen accept for an old couch and a broken washer and dryer. It was my mistake to not turn around with my moving truck the day I arrived. The facility is surrounded by condemned buildings and abandoned cars everywhere. The gates don't have locks and there were few unbroken window in sight. The "security" guy appeared intoxicated and was sitting in the front office casually hanging out with the kids they have running the office for the several hours I was there, never going on patrol, the entire time I was back and forth loading my families belongings into the storage unit. And the actual units are outdoors by what looks like a cross between a junk yard and an abandoned shipping yard. So again I am an idiot for leaving my stuff there. But at least I have great insurance. On the day I dropped my stuff off the staff assured me that they have 24 hour surveillance and roving security. However on the day that I came to find out I was robbed the kid running the desk felt bad enough that he admitted this "happens from time to time." Afterwards I called the cops who showed up pretty quickly and they filled out a police report while telling me all they could do is help with the paperwork for an insurance claim. The lock on my unit was cut and 90% of everything I own in the world was gone. But it wasn't like other locks around mine had been cut and they picked through units to chose what they wanted. Someone saw the quality of the stuff I had put inside the unit and targeted me. Which to me indicates that it was someone who works there. There are a lot of people who hang around the area who are clearly are not customers but don't seem to work there either. The kid running the desk was a nice guy but clearly had no idea what to do and refused to give me the contact info for the owner who still hasn't called me to this day. It's been one week. They gave me my last months rent back and said sorry with shrugged shoulders. Bottom line is that some guy owns property with some outdoor units in a super shady "junk yard" type location and he pays a bunch of kids minimum wage to "run" the desk but they have no idea what to do other than check you in or out. So don't leave your stuff at Island Park Storage. There is a reason they are cheaper then legitimate facilities. read more

This must be the best storage place, closest to San Francisco. We moved from a 3 bedroom house in Novato to a 1 bedroom apartment in San Francisco and needed storage. After a lot of searching we found this gem. The rates are much better than anywhere else and it is still super close to the city. We also rented a moving truck from there and left our car while moving everything. The storage was clean and staff was super nice and professional! We have had our unit for over a year now and are super happy with our choice ! read more

Spectacular! They deliver exactly what they promise, and with a smile! The staff is wonderful, totally transparent and honest, the location is very secure, and I'm very glad I did business with them! I would rent there again in a heartbeat. Bravo and thanks! But there's a reason it's 40% less expensive than many other facilities. There are three downsides to this facility. First, there is no coded gate that you can enter and leave 24/7 in moments as most other facilities have. There is a very friendly security guard available 24/7 who comes and unlocks the facility for you, then you drive to your unit. This takes a few minutes of course. The guards are extremely nice! They move as fast as they can! But you should factor that in to your choice. Second, you're renting a shipping container. It takes 5 minutes to open, it's not roll in/roll out, and it's a scant 8 feet wide. They do provide ramps to get your car in and out if you need it. At most other locations, however, they have garage-style units that take seconds to open, are flush with the ground, and 2 feet wider. A car does fit in the container, but just barely! Third, it's on Treasure Island. Which is often difficult to get to, with stop and go traffic on US 80. On the plus side, if you're coming from the West, there is no toll to get there or to drive back. From the East Bay, you will pay the Bay Bridge toll every time you visit by car. I understand you can walk or bike from Oakland to the island at no coast, but I've never done it. So in sum, a terrific place with terrific people, and you get exactly what you pay for. read more

I have used this place many times and I will continue to do so. The staff is friendly and courteous, and very efficient in helping me with my needs. My last experience was great. Amazingly, after about 6 months, there was hardly any dust on my things, they stayed really clean. This facility and staff can't be beat. I highly reccomend for your storage and truck rental needs. Zero security. I paid extra to park a camper in the camera covered area--but NO CAMERAS EVER WORK. I have dents on my camper and sometime during February and March it was ransacked. Everything stolen. Yet the man says "sorry our cameras were down" or "sorry we aren't responsible." While I understand the responsibility issue I do not understand why I'm paying extra for camera coverage, yet the cameras are never online. I'm angry. I've asked four times for this issue to be fixed and nothing has happened. I just showed up to go out with the camper for the weekend, and I have three or four fresh dents on my camper! Great place to store your stuff! I was living with roommates in since they relocated us for work. I wasn't really familiar with the area so I was stressing out months even before we had to relocate back home. Helped a friend move out of the city recently and we decided to go with island park storage rather than the bigger name competitors. I was a little disappointed with the appearances, theres nothing really fancy going on outside but the units get the job done. I brought my vehicle to Island Park Storage, to store it, immediately after shampooing the upholstery. The interior of the vehicle was wet. Mike, who works there, was kind enough to keep the windows rolled down while the weather was good, and rolled up while the weather wasn't good, until the interior of the vehicle was dry. This is the best customer service I have ever received from a storage place. Also, if you want your vehicle covered, you can pay them to get a cover for you and tie down and maintain the cover so that it won't blow away. read more

TL:DR: Rented a 5'x8' trailer to move a stove/hood. Rented here. Was easier than taking candy from a baby. but that's messed up b/c you shouldn't take candy from babies. We're all "do it yourself-ers" and wanting to reserve online and get our vehicles etc. Since I'm going to Berkeley to pick up a stove (used, but new to me), and move it back to SF, this location in Treasure Island is easier. Went to uhaul.com, reserve online for a trailer, at a certain time, at the Treasure Island Location. Done. Easy. Wait. that was too easy. Uhaul.com confirmed my reservation for BAYSHORE, despite my reservation at Treasure Island. So . . . I pick up the phone and make a quick call (really, who makes telephone calls and talks to real people these days?), and a real person answers - no hold music, a real person. Alex (I assume he's the manager). He says "I'll reserve it for you, just cancel it online, and you'll be fine, come anytime after we open." Literally a 30 second phone call. Trailer reserved. Cancel it online (sorry, but after the wonderful reviews of Bayshore Uhaul, I'm not about to wait 1+ hour to pick up a trailer - sorry). By the reviews, it seems the staff there loves their jobs. Day of moving - I show up, and voila, trailer is parked in front. Back up to it, hook it up (I've never done this before, and it took about 2.8 minutes, and signed paperwork for another time consuming 3 minutes, swiped credit card, and was off on my merry way - about 10 minutes total. Returning the thing was just as easy, except this time it took about half the time, since Alex was there to unhook it. Seriously it couldn't be easier. As I was chatting about my plans for the vehicle (DIY camper conversion) with the representative, he juggled some things around to get me a spot with more breathing room to work, and he said they didn't mind if I even did the bulk of the work right there in the lot, as long as I didn't disturb other customers and didn't leave a mess.
