In all honesty, if I could give this place negative stars, I would. Our unit, which had absolutely ZERO food items, has been ravaged with mouse activity. Mattress ruined, couch ruined, clothing ruined, furniture ruined, boxes ruined, etc. Mouse droppings are literally EVERYWHERE. On top of that, the elevator hardly works, and the climate control piece is a myth. Just yesterday it was well above 80 degrees inside the unit. This has just been a flat out traumatic experience and we're now forced to start from scratch with everything being ruined just before we move into a townhouse. Also, to top it off, vermin coverage is only a measly 200 dollars or less. So all in all, PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Two stars only because of the staff that was at the front when I checked in. The person who came running when the elevator power shut off while I was in it on my first day in the facility. This location advertises that it is climate controlled. Boy that is not true. It is so cold in this facility that your fingers will be freezing before you even reach your storage. I chose this because it was close to where I was going to be temporarily staying and regret it every time I come over because the weather is not warm and the space is even colder. The doors do not open easily. There's no lighting above the storage, so it's completely dark in the storage space. Definitely not worth it for anyone who needs to come and go and get things when they need them. Also, when I checked in, I had all the intentions of giving this place a good review, but that went out the window when I came back the second and third time and the temperature in the building was still not at least 65 or 70. You can't work and move things around without your hands freezing. I will be working to find another storage facility. read more

Actually one of the worst experiences I've had at any business in the DC/NOVA area. Let me just help you avoid the land mines. The lock they provide, you are buying it, not renting it. Its a fine lock... but can only be used on their doors. You have to buy their insurance, there is no other option. And then THE BIGGEST ISSUE, the gate locks at 9:00pm and thats it. If you and your car, you and your Uhaul or other rental truck are inside... then you're staying in for the entire night, at 6:00 am the gates can be opened and you can get out. They do make it clear that they close at 9:00pm and that's all well and good. I figure you probably can't get IN to the facility past nine, and there's probably someone to warn every one that they need to exit by 9:00pm. So when no one warned me at any point in the night that closing time was approaching, I assumed that this meant, "Sweet, I can unload my truck in an organized and sensible manner rather than rushing around to be out by 9:00." So again, no staff, no warning, nothing as 9:00 pm approached. So, at 11:00ish I'm finally ready to leave and my gate code wont work. I tried bluetoothing it from the app, I tried typing my code in everywhere... myself and one other couple and their Uhaul were all locked in for the night. This is simply how they run the business. I missed the final walk through with my landlord because of this insane policy held by Public Storage. I ended up calling the police who showed up with 7 officers in four different police cars, and a full fire truck with 4 fire fighters. All these responders had to show up to this Public Facility in the middle of the night because this place chooses to just lock you in for the night with no warning anywhere. So eventually after 40 minutes or so, one of the firefighters had a code to unlock the gate and I was able to get out. I don't know what happened with the other couple who was still stuck in there. So on top of this insanity, I got a couple warning emails from the staff at this location, warning me that "Hey, the gates close at 9:00, our convenient hours should give you more than enough time to get your loading in and out done in a timely manner." Absolutely tonedeaf response, I will never ever give this place my business again. They got all the money they're going to get out of me. This is a business to ABSOLUTELY AVOID if you're looking for a storage solution short term or temporary. I would also say avoid this place if Sundays are a time that you see yourself visiting the facility as they did not have enough bay doors to serve all the tenants on my visit when I was moving my things OUT of this hell hole. I was able to get a hand truck but not every visitor was this lucky at the time of my visit. I'm glad to be out of there and I will NOT be going back. Absolutely god awful experience and this is one bridge I'm happy to burn as I would rather burn my items on the street than go through the experience of renting from Public Storage again. read more

Three words of advice: stay far away. I've rented at this Public Storage for more than six years, and I should have left a long time ago. The security gate is constantly broken, handcarts are almost impossible to find on weekends, and the rent hikes are outrageous. As of today, I'm paying $447/month for the same 10x10 unit the company advertises on its own website for $134/month. In other words, the longer you're a customer, the more they squeeze you--charging existing customers almost three times what they offer new ones. This past weekend was the final straw. Weekends are the busiest time of the week, so you'd think they'd have staff on-site. Instead, when we went on Sunday, in the middle of the day, to retrieve our Christmas tree and decorations, we found the security gate broken (again) so anyone could stream in and out of the entire facility, the elevators both out of service so no one could use a cart to retrieve their belongings, and not a single employee was anywhere on the property--again, in the middle of the afternoon. Not one. More than a dozen customers were standing around unable to access their units, and anyone off the street could freely walk in because the gate was wide open. Efforts to reach Public Storage by phone went unanswered. This was not just frustrating--it's a serious liability and security issue. Public Storage left the entire facility unstaffed while their security systems and elevators were nonfunctional. That's beyond negligent. I'll be filing a complaint with Fairfax County and the City of Falls Church, and after six years of putting up with this, I'm finally moving out. I strongly urge anyone considering this location to look elsewhere. read more

We spent extra for a climate controlled unit and after just 4 months, several items were destroyed beyond repair, including a men's suit that had been by itself in a garment bag, camping gear and several pairs of jeans. I made a reservation for a 5x10 unit for $76 a month. I was unable to pay my reservation online, so I called. I was told that the $76 price was no longer available, but that they could move me to a unit of the same size for $157 a month. I asked what the point of the reservation was if the price could change, and the person on the phone became evasive and rude. I cancelled. Do not trust this location. read more

I rented a small unit for a short term need. The guys in the office were very helpful and efficient. Of course the $1 for the first month special had other charges like insurance (required). Mazen, in the office, was pleasant enough to deal with. They have supplies at pricey rates but again, it's convenient. The place needs a good cleaning and the carts that are available for use are in very bad shape. There are mouse packets all around and the units are not well cleaned between rentors. The security gates are often open whether there is anyone coming in or not. The building itself is a bit creepy. It is worth checking out a few places. I wish I had read more reviews before committing.This one was convenient but I will breathe easier when the storage is no longer needed. read more

400 Roosevelt Blvd, Falls Church: I have used Public Storage in Falls Church (22204) to keep extra items for several years. STAFF is always great. FACILITY is old - but has gone through major improvements recently. I give 4 stars - because things work well in the facility- BUT the property could use a new paint job in corridors upstairs, and newer dollies. Staff in the management office has always been responsive. But in recent years - happily - the company has made some significant improvements to the building. Improvements in the lighting - improvements in the overall condition of the facility. Overhead lighting stays on for a longer time after a motion detector turns it on when one walks past. Air conditioning has been improved so the upstairs climate controlled area is no long steamy in summer. Through it all the quality of staff continues. MANAGEMENT - Donny - the manager until recently - was always visible around the building, supervising as all those improvements were being made, and available to clients. So - It was a relief to see that when a new manager showed up recently - Keisha - she continues to be as responsive to their clients as Donny was. :-) read more

Rob is terrific. The folks who run this place day-to-day are awesome. I have less like for Public Storage in general. The $1 for first month is a lie. All customers MUST pay $22 application fee...so, no matter what, it starts at $23. Second, I had to buy their lock. They refused to allow our lock (because it can be cut with bolt cutters). It is now apparently corp policy that personal locks are no longer allowed, and you must use their special locking mechanisms...another $18. The funny thing is, I wouldn't even be balking if they charged me what it costs to buy a descent pad lock - and theirs is not even that quality. Please just tell the truth folks. As for the facility, this is my first time going into storage. I accepted a location that the manager took me to because I knew I was in a rush, and I had no idea what would be a problem. There is one set of storage rooms that are behind a fire door - appreciate the safety, but you cannot easily get a cart in and out of the door - doubled the time to move in and out of storage. In the end, I could care less, because I got a lower rate, and I only need access to storage to remove and restore some items, but moving in the first time was a pain as it was VERY difficult to bring a loading cart full of goods through the door. Just think about the route from the elevator to the locker and whether a fire door is in the way. read more

3 stars for the location. This Public storage is 1 mile from the 66 on/off ramp, 1 block from 7 corners, as well as 1 mile from the metro station, so it's in a very convenient location. It is also in a very discreet location. However, when I booked the storage unit over the phone I was told that in would cost $23 plus tax for the first months payment. When I got there, I ended up paying $40! Other than getting jacked $17, everything else seems to be A-ok. read more

During what is an undoubtedly stressful time in the midst of transition, I wanted to make sure I expressed how thankful I am to have worked with Rob at this particular Public Storage facility. I've lived in a lot of place and in a variety of states and I've never been so impressed by how efficient, mindful, kind and honest Rob was during my move in. Also, the facility is perfectly situated, clean and easy to get around, especially with the dollies readily available for use. Quite honestly, I barely got any sleep last night in anticipation of what I thought would be a stressful and annoying move-in. Too bad I lost all that sleep because on the contrary to what I expected, this was the easiest, most pain-free process ever and I couldn't be more pleased (and surprised!). 5 stars well-deserved. This place is a disaster! It is filthy dirty and the building is poorly lighted and maintained. Right around the second week in January in 2018, there was a massive leak a that flooded some units and shut down the elevators making access to the second floor with your belongings only possible by walking up flights of stairs. On the second floor, units were opened and renters belongings we're strewn outside the rental units to dry from the flood. No one needs this hassle and if you value what you are storing, don't place it here! Other renters that were onsite when I arrived told me that this was not the first flood. I suspect that the temperature in the building is not being kept above freezing and the culprit of this flood was a frozen pipe. It was below freezing inside when I was there..The entrance alleyway to the loading dock was pitch black with no lights on and was loaded with refuse. Save yourself the disappointment and hassle. I rent at another public Storage facility and the conditions here are not consonant with what I have experienced at other Public Storage Facilities.. I recommend trying another facility with this company. read more

There was a freeze in early 2018 where water pipes broke on the 2nd floor near our unit. It was during the night, and several hours passed before it was discovered. They called us a couple days later! Most of the units in our area had total losses. We were very lucky to have a space that only has one pipe overhead and it's along a wall, so we didn't have much damage- only a little from seepage under the door and a droplet here and there. They certainly could have helped more in cleaning up and getting things taken care of. It was heartbreaking to see everyone with all their belongings ruined. Of course, no reduction or suspension of rental fees and only minimal insurance compensation. We stayed only because it's the closest place to our home and, it's such a pain to move, as we all know. They did recently waive a late fee of over $40 dollars when we had a new bank card that wasn't signed up for auto-pay, so I do appreciate that. read more

This place is awful. Just don't go there; you'll be sorry. The main issue is that the place just isn't maintained. I've seen evidence of three different instances of serious water leaks, and---lucky me---one of those was right over my storage location. One of the desk guys came and said, "Oh, yah, we've had people working on the roof." Dude my stuff is ruined! No other comment? Hands me an insurance form. And, the third part fly-by-night insurance company is a joke. You think you have $3,000 in coverage with a $100 deductible? You don't. You have that on the depreciated cost of your stuff, and guess who decides the "depreciated value"? Them. I lost irreplaceable out of print books that they gave absurdly low values and then the took 50% OFF OF THAT. Also, the "climate control" is a joke. The temperature is kept about 0.5 degrees above freezing, and one of the desk guys even noted that several of their "water issues" were from burst pipes due to freezing in the building! Really? Turn up the heat, maybe? Don't put anything you value in this place. Even better, take your business elsewhere. read more

Do not use this storage facilities. Three floods and this last one they will not help at all. Stuff from WWI and WWII destroyed and many personal memories destroyed. The manager said he would not even give any credit for the storage and we have to get rid of all the garbage ourselves. I would give zero stars but Yelp would not let me. read more

Clean, quiet (not a lot of traffic), and secure location. Rob is very kind and knowledgeable. Couldn't ask for a smoother transaction.

This is a clean facility and is rarely crowded. Over a 3 month period and over 20 visits I only had to wait on a rolling cart a few times. The employees were very helpful. My only complaint is that months are not prorated. I emptied my unit on 8/14 and was told that since I closed the account after 8/6, I was responsible for the whole month. Kinda sucks. They also do push their insurance which can substantially add to the monthly cost. read more

Words cannot describe how grateful I am that I contacted Public Storage. I had to move out of my house in very short notice and only needed a storage unit for a month. Being my first time using a storage unit, I was shocked at how much it would cost. I was very stressed looking for a storage unit big enough for three bedrooms and a living room, dining room area within our budget. After trying a few storage units I got in touch with Public Storage and their deal and customer service was too good to be true. They found me a storage unit and location the was convenient to me and also on the date I requested. On the day of my appointment I met with Rob who was extremely helpful, informative and patient with my questions. Public storage made this move for me affordable and sooo much less stressful. There is nothing in the contract that limits how much they can raise your rent. AND There is NO direct phone number to talk to someone in "the corporate office" to get any answers. I am first time client and, was very intimidated by the dark hallways of the building. And was hesitant in renting because of safety concerns, on my first inquiry the available storage was was deep into the building. Far from the elevator. So, i came back. Rob Kennel found one just around the corner, near the elevator. He assured me it was perfectly safe. I signed the contract and left leaving my. Copies in his desk, i was frantic and, left a message that my information might end up in the wrong hands. His assistant was very helpful and, promised me she will call Rob to find out if He still has my copies.
