We rented several units here for 10+ years. The rent got jacked up astronomically once we were in. When we moved out, my fine furniture was damaged from rodent pee & my fine china had been stolen. Since the units were not broken into to our knowledge, it must have been people who worked there that helped themselves to our belongings. Avoid this place at all costs. Cici is an absolute delight! I've worked with her several times and have rented with her in the past and since moving back into the city, I trust her customer service and that my unit will be taken care of! She is an amazing Property Manager and manages this huge high-scale property by herself and trains staff as well! Please be patient with her as she is the sole person running this storage facility! DON'T use this company( or at least don't sign up online without seeing unit first) I rented a unit online and asked specifically for an outdoor access unit when I got to the location the unit was indoors through several hallways. I immediately called the manager and told her... She said they did not have any units with outdoor access available. I was told I would be refunded , and never was, so i contacted credit card company and disputed the charge. I was sent to collections for 165.00 even though I never used the unit. I have had a unit at 9526 Westheimer Rd Houston, Texas 77063 for almost 2 years. I recently got a notice that it has been bought by Public Storage. When I go to the office, no one is EVER there. You call the phone number listed and no one EVER answers. I have even been to the office to try and pay my bill and found someone sitting on the steps for hours trying to rent a unit. I was looking to rent a storage unit for years and did not know how to get started. So I looked online to the closest storage unit near me and discovered Public Storage less than 8 minutes away. The online process was extremely easy, deals offered was very helpful and I was able to complete the contract in 30 minutes. I went to the Public Storage Unit and was a little confused since it was a kiosk center, but even the kiosk representative was able to answer my questions but the next morning Dawn from Public Storage was extremely helpful in answering questions, calling me back with more information and taking the extra time to make me feel this was a good judgement call. Do not rent from Public Storage at 5615 Westheimer in Houston. I took a small storage space from them in April and in September it was broken into as were other units in my building. They did NOTHING to help me and the third party insurance company is useless in filing a claim and getting compensation for lost items. In addition, the location NEVER answers the phone, there is rarely anyone on site to help you, AND they have done NOTHING to change their security systems so a break in does not happen again. one of the worst experiences that I have had and paid for To start off the salesperson was extremely pushy but I knew what I wanted after visiting another location I had reserved two spaces to look at I decided to go with the larger space but after asking me what I was storing the salesperson told me the larger space was not available but the other space was perfect for my needs I agreed to look at it he then told me that I had to buy a lock from them I knew from my first visit this was not true but he kept showing me a lock I just cut him off asking to see the space we went upstairs and he brought the lock with him I looked at the space and it was way too small the salesperson said so you're getting this I told him to give me a moment I got on my phone and saw there was a larger space available I put it on hold then told him I wanted to look at this one showing him my phone he didn't look happy after seeing the larger space I said this will work the salesperson with lock-in hand again told me that I had to get this lock I looked at him and told him I know for fact I can use my own lock so stop it he would'nt he said this lock is better I just said I'm good we went to do the papper work he asked me for $54. dollars I looked at him and asked what about the insurance he said oh I am going to add that then the amount was $69. I went to swipe my card and the salesperson asked will this be the card you will be using for your autopay I did not ask for that I will pay as I go this became an issue, later on, he went ahead add it as autopay without my consent. I did not move into the space right away I felt very uncomfortable so later I went to look at another location and told them I want to transfer here I was told I would have to speak to customer service and that was something else I told them everything I was told well it sounds to me like he was just doing his job so what's the problem whats your concern I said I'm afraid that I'm going to find that there are things missing from my space the reply was you have insurance so what's the problem I asked can I just get a refund I was told no so reluctantly I slowly moved in avoiding the salesperson I went in one day and gave my drivers license to a saleslady to get a cart there was a black truck with two people doing some I did not see anyone else they even opened the door for me I dropped off my boxes and returned the cart and the original sales guy was in the office I asked for my DL he turned around and walked to a box for a moment then turned and said oh I gave your DL away buy mistake I looked at him and said I am going to get something to eat and when I get back I want my DL. I called an hour later and asked for the salesman I was told he went to lunch I was not happy I was told hey things happen and oh I was not happy I asked how does this guy go to lunch without finding my DL I was thinking there where only two other people here at the time I was here I was given a number for the superviser Ms India she told me I can't call him if he is at lunch I am sorry about this and your next months rent is on us if you want and you can go online and get another DL and we will pay for it, I went back to the location and the salesperson was asking someone for a DL I told him I need to talk to you he went inside and never came out latter he did call me and told me my next months rent would be on them and I could go online and get another DL and they would pay that back times two { NO FREE RENT OR DL MONEY } Thing dont end there there is work going on I went in to pick up a few things and my stuff was covered with debris there are plastic covers up but they had to have been put up after wards Also Yelp you need to add negative stars read more

This process could not have been easier. I was able to go online and secure a unit and sign all paperwork and make payment. They emailed my unit number along with my documents and I was good to go. I had to stop by and show my drivers license the first time and JOY at the office at the 5615 Westheimer location is absolutely amazing! She helped me learn the procedures and guided me with a map and how to use the access codes and the app. She is amazing! This company is lucky to have her. It is spotless and easily to access. Have rented at Public Storage in another Texas city for 10 years. It was great. Moved to Houston ) mos and got a new Public Storage space at the Houston Westheimer location and now at 6 mos raised my rent 25%. I scheduled a move out. They sent me an email telling me they hate to see me leave and offering me a lower rent if I stay for six months. I clicked on their offer immediately to accept it and it took me into the app and my account and said "This offer is no longer valid" ( minutes after they sent it. Whoever runs this operation in the 5000 block of Westheimer in Houston seems to have no concept at all about either customer service & loyalty. I'll move to another new storage facility nearby rather than deal with people like this who don't value my business or my loyalty over many years to Public Storage. read more

Awful. Do no rent a storage unit here. Like the other reviews stated, similarly our storage unit has been broken into twice now at this location. The way these employees (Mahesh, David Spade and the lady on the front desk) handled our break ins was appalling. Few things to note: - their cctv is useless - the door in the back building has been left open leaving everyone's units easily accessible - the gates are left open so pretty much anyone off the street can drive in, follow someone into the building and break into your unit. - break ins are frequent (ours was broken into twice in one year) - you do not need to purchase their insurance despite what Mahesh has told you. Your own home insurance is sufficient. All I can say is this. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. Mahesh was asking people to review him when they sign up. Don't rent a unit here. You may as well leave your belongings out on the street. read more

If you are able to do so I highly recommend you consider going elsewhere. Terrible customer service and an unsecured easily accesible storage facility. My unit was broken into and all my belongings were taken while the lock was secured on the latch. This occurred due to the fact I was assigned a unit with a latch and a hasp were improperly installed by the company. My unit was able to be opened without the lock ever having to be cut or the latch having to be broken. The door was able to be opened with the lock on it because the latch/hasp was installed in a way that allowed the door to easily be slid open. I feel that this is a complete act of negligence on public storages part and I feel defrauded because I have been paying rent for a secure storage unit that was incapable of being secured due to installation errors. I spoke with the district manager David Spade about what occurred with my unit and he confirmed that my theory was absolutely correct and that the hasp was installed incorrectly and that he would get someone to fix it immediately. Please note my unit was broken into around November 11 and I revisited my storage unit on December 27 and it still wasn't fixed. My next hope was that I would be able to look at the surveillance cameras to see if I could identify one of my unique items leaving out of the door. I became completely irate after David informed me that the cameras don't actually record or have playback ability and have not been able to due so for months due to technical issues. Meaning that the video surveillance that Public storage loves to advertise having is only effective if someone is looking at the video footage(that plays only on the monitors in the front office) while someone is in the act. Please help me understand how surveillance cameras help after hours if no one is present to view them real time? The customer service is extremely deplorable after having all of my belongings stolen the office manager "Mahesh" was extremely rude,showed an extreme lack of compassion, and his only concern was that I understood that public storage had no liability for the theft that occurred. If my circumstances didn't force me to keep my belongings in storage I would not give them another dime. Public Storage is negligent, rude, and completely unprofessional. If you have the opportunity to store your belongings elsewhere I suggest you do. Break ins occur here very often and there is no deterrent to prevent thieves from breaking into your unit(regardless of what is advertised). Sincerely, a let down customer. read more

Do not rent here. Our locker was broken into 10 days ago. Staff have not helped at all with investigation. Seems cameras don't record and no records of who accesses the lifts even though there is a code. Police advised that this premises broken into many times and even homeless people living in lockers at one time. All the guy on the desk could say when we talked to him was that we had a good deal at $77 for a 8' x 10'. I went on their website and they are selling for less at that facility now! So how was it a good deal that we lost thousands of dollars of stuff! Tried to blame it on some contractors working there, he was so evasive in helping that it felt like he knew more about it than he let on. read more
