STAY AWAY!! Our storage unit was broken into and ROBBED. All our boxes were gone through and they put a new lock on it. Clearly they were planning to come back. In order to get into the parking lot you need a code and in order to get to my floor you need a code. So someone with a code robbed us. I asked the guy at the desk if he looked at footage from the day he noticed our lock was replaced and he replied "no". I'm shocked there was no concern for this invasion and he just handed us a sheet to get an insurance claim. He would not show us footage just the police. When the policeman arrived he said " I come to this building a lot for robberies". I am shocked and devastated. I thought that was the idea of having a unit that your things were safe. Go to A-1 American storage. there's one way in and one way out and they have double locks. You have to get the key from them. This one has a staircase that makes it easy for the robbers (of which there are many here) to leave. read more

HORRIBLE customer service in the office. The people that physically are working here were wonderful though. However, management in the offices won't give me a refund for a uint I never even wanted. They charged me for two different units when I only needed one I called to get a unit and they told me it would be on the second floor. I have a ton of stuff and would prefer a floor unit so they switched locations. Then I get charged for 2 units?!? They are REFUSING to give me a refund telling me I can now have credit for a second month. I DONT WANT JT!!!! I WILL NEVER EVER COME TO PUBLIC STORAGE AGAIN. This storage is absolutely thee worse!!! Had items stolen from my unit, lock taken, and they really didn't give a sh*t. Sales assistant felt bad about my situation and tried to get me a comped lock but the manager ( I'm gonna guess Erwin) said no. He should have been the one to help but he left it to the obviously new associate to do his work. Also all the positive reviews are asked for. Not genuine at all. Find a different storage company. Oh yeah and be prepared to pay almost triple what your move in cost is. They raise the rent whenever they want to insane rates. read more

Overall very positive experience. Clean units and this building is climate controlled unlike some of the other ones (not individual units but overall the building won't go about a certain temp) - Raina at the front desk helped me during a very stressful move-out and went above and beyond to make it totally painless! This building has some quirks, the odd shape makes some of the smaller Pico-side front units tricky to get to with large items, and the elevators can be a bit annoying if you're making multiple trips, but this is due to the enhanced floor-specific security. Also the carts are only available at one end of the building which can be annoying. read more

Two of our units were burglarized in one month. Cameras only face outside, we were told the sensors on the doors are "just for looks". The incidents were weeks apart from each other. Same person both times. Units were on different floors (which means he had multiple codes to access different areas) How can it be so challenging for paying customers to get access sometimes, and so easy for thieves to sneak in? When you store your stuff at a public storage (or anywhere really) your belongings aren't ever really "protected". Get another insurance policy in addition to the orange door required policy. If you ask public storage, they're a 3rd party company.... HA even though it's owned by public storage. Don't come after dark, lots of shady characters. Bullet scars on the window facing the freeway upstairs on the 4th floor. On top of that they wanted to raise our rent, by a lot. Rent at your own risk. read more

The public storage website was a breeze to use; from finding available units, making the reservation and filling out the needed forms online that would otherwise have to be done on the day of check-in. The process was user-friendly, efficient and fast. On arrival at the location on the check in day, I was met by manager Kelsey, who was also very efficient and professional. She walked me through the check in process, showed me the unit, thoroughly described the required processes and made this an A1, five star experience. Thank you Kelsey. This location on Pico Boulevard is clean, looks new and is well-maintained. No trash. No dust. No dirty doors. Security is obviously a high-priority here. I recommend Public Storage. read more

I had to find storage close to my company's office, so the location is great but it is one of the pricier PS in LA. Very very clean, not sure why they didn't put an elevator at both ends of the main building so that you're not waking a country mile if your unit is at the opposite end. They had equipment we could use for our move. It was very quiet and again, clean as a whistle. The staff here are very responsive prior to your move and will call a lot to see if you have questions. But I'm giving FIVE stars and leaving this for Riley at the front desk as she is awesome and provided fantastic customer service! read more

The place is secure, very clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The move-in process is incredibly easy. Carts/flats are availabe to help your unloading and transport to your unit. I have been a customer of the West LA Public Storage Region for 15 years. During the Coronavirus pandemic, companies are making accommodations to work with customers remotely and going the extra mile with customer retention. I called in to get guidance from the location staff for my 2 Br Apt. They told me that a 7'x10' would cover it "no problem." I proceeded to lock it in for concern of unnecessary exposure to the virus. There was a promotion, as there always are online for $1 or 50% off the 1st month. This is VERY common to meet the large competition in the market. I locked it in with the expectation that on my move day we would be all set to move in quickly. Unfortunately, the unit was too small and I had to spend 45 minutes, and pay double the amount for 5' more space. They charged me a 2nd set up fee (~$37) and denied the $1 promotion now that they had me (and my moving truck and my movers) on the hook. Initial agreement for 1st 2 months = 1 unit fee + $1 for the 1st month + $37 (fair market price), New terms= (original monthly unit rate x 2) + another $37 + new monthly rate + (original monthly unit rate x 2) (i.e., no $1 promotion). Then, I moved out on the 3rd of the month thus paying for a full month but using only 3 days. These are owned facilities with massive profit margins (REITs), so not a big deal to accommodate a loyal customer for trusting poor guidance from the facility team in a time when businesses should reward loyalty. The location staff was very nice overall, but how much of our tax $$ went to regain 40-60 pts in the Public Storage stock price (or PPP loans, Stock buybacks?)? I just took out a new storage unit here a few months ago. They just raised the cost from $205 to $250 with a 30 day notice. Looks like I'll be moving out of there within the month just out of principal. Their hinky elevators are horrible to try to use when moving large pieces or a lot of stuff. You hardly have 2 seconds to put a long code in so the doors stay open. And they use different locks on all floors so that you can't use the expensive ones you bought from them before. And if you use your own, they have to "approve" the lock. Not customer friendly at all. read more

If I would give ZERO stars, then I would. I had a small storage unit here to hold my stuff before moving across the country for work. I made arrangements to have a POD delivered to transfer all my things from the PUblic Storage unit. Before booking the POD, I called the Public Storage on-site office to make sure it was OK to have a the POD in a parking space while I transferred my stuff out of their unit. I was told that was perfectly OK and that as long as I wasn't blocking any entrances. THEN 2 days before the POD arrives they tell me I can't do that. They refused to make any arrangements to compensate for their mistake and now I'm likely going to be charged extra for last minute changes to my moving POD and same day delivery and pick up. DO NOT go to these guys for your storage. They LIE to you about their policies and then make no effort to fix the mistakes that they make. read more

Lets start out by comparing this location to the countless public storage and other storage companies i have frequented over the past 20 years or so. I would say that i am a very experienced storage customer and this is one of the worst places i have ever seen. the unit we got is about 500 feet or more away from the elevator landing on the 4th floor. The hallways are filled with thresholds that are way to high to easily go over with a cart. if your lucky enough to find one of the three carts they have on hand for the 500 plus units they rent. not to mention the disrespectful nature towards senior citizens. when an 83 year old man gets a unit this far away from the entrance, it should be a crime. then they claim that they gave him a key to the unit... thats a false claim. then they charged for a replacement lock. stay away from these crooked businesschildren. read more

Just got my code + key, and was very impressed with the service - Christopher was both efficient and helpful - went through all the required bits quickly, explaining everything clearly without wasting time, and had a few genuinely helpful tips as well - ie, pointing out some quirks in the way the elevator works. The facility itself looks clean and newish, and I chose this place for it's combination of price, climate control, and location. (This would otherwise be a five -star rating, but for. . . please read on.) I normally receive bright, friendly and helpful service from this business. Cesar and Edwin always greet me by name, they call to give me reminders, chat with me on site, and its all appreciated. Edwin called today to remind about payment and help me avoid additional fees. I told him I would be likely to get in there today and pay. So, I'm racing across town (too many obstacles in my path) and I can tell with traffic I'm going to be a minute or two on either side of 6:00 p.m. So I call to ask them to possibly hold off closing for a minute or two, max. Unfortunately, Edwin had already left and the gal that answered basically said: that she wouldn't wait, and would lock up right at 6:sharp not an extra second later, much less an extra minute or two. In fact she said "cant you get here any faster" after I told her I was driving down Olympic relativity high above the speed limit already. (And, true to her word, she didn't wait. I pulled in to the lot about 90 seconds after 6:00pm and the office doors were locked and the gal was nowhere to be seen) She didn't answer the phone when I called again as I was turning left off Pico into the lot. Wanting to access my other unit, leaving my car outside I entered the pedestrian gate and walked the 15-20 feet to where the first set of elevators are, and upon getting inside, the Gal is shutting the supply Storage locker right off the office (not visible from the lot in front of the office doors.) She saw me, knew who I was, and knew that I saw her. and then pretended as if I wasn't there. She hurriedly closed the supply locker and left as quickly as she could. Nothing like an employee placing herself before a customer in a service industry job. With Edwin and Cesar (as supervisors) being the positive role models and shining examples of how to treat customers that they are, its not as if she didn't know or have a clue on how to deal with customers. Both Edwin and Cesar go out of their way to be courteous and helpful. As a result, it appears they are universally well-liked by all Public Storage's customers, myself included. Hopefully, the gal, who's name I have intentionally omitted from this post, reads this and takes it to heart. I'm a firm believer that if you are going to call out poor service, and I do, you have to do even more to praise good and even better service when you receive that as well. ( I do that also) Its why in writing this review, I point out that this single event is the only one out of many interactions I've had with the people working at Public Storage in which I have been left disappointed with their service. read more

I had driven 5 hours to LA to store items prior to my move here. I arrived at another public storage at the Sepulveda location and was told that my reservation with the promotion offer was no longer in effect. They could not provide any solution. I then went to the public storage on Pico where I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff (Jaimie, Mekaila, and Chemize). These ladies were incredibly empathetic to my situation and quickly helped find me a storage space with a promotional offer as well. I appreciate Jaimie, Mekaila, and Chemize's assistance. Edwin, Daniel, and Yvonne have been nothing but awesome with their customer service. I had to downsize last minute from a larger unit to a smaller one and they didn't hesitate to help even though it was 15 min till closing. Edwin and Daniel grabbed some carts real quick with me to grab the little stuff I had left to at least get the items to a new floor. It was a huge favor and saved me money cause each day I was being charged for the larger unit. I highly recommend this location for all your storage needs. JC read more

We've had a large storage unit here for a little over 2 years. Mostly just some stuff (junk) that accumulated after a couple of moves. Not important enough to keep at home, but "way too important to throw away" :). Anyway, the storage unit itself is nice enough, the gates and elevators always seem to work properly and if you can get past the increasing number of homeless folks living inside the property, it seems worth the $250 a month. What I can't seem to get past is the AWFUL staff, specifically Lee (female) and Caesar (male). They lock their front door well before the closing time printed on the window. They are rude, condescending and dismissive in response to any polite question. Public Storage management should re-consider their staffing at this location. read more

You wrote a review for Public Storage 2 weeks ago 5.0 star rating 5/29/2018 I was renting with EZ Storage close to this Public Storage because they are the cheapest in the area. However, after dealing with cockroaches, moisture, gates being closed 30-45 minutes before the posted storage close & hearing a couple of renters complain about theft (separate occasions) while waiting to get a key for the cart, I decided to look for other storage. Public Storage is not cheap compared to others in the area, but here are the pros why I moved here: 1. Office hours are 930-5/6pm BUT you have access to your storage from 6am until 9pm. That's a huge difference from the storage I came from which opens 10am to 7pm but at 620ish pm, one side of the 2 entrances is usually already closed and if God forbids you come in at 630pm, employees are going to be on your ass asking you how long you will stay and talking you out of going to your unit because they have to close the main gain at 640pm. 2. Out of all the storage buildings I checked out within the area, Public Storage buildings are some of the 3 companies with buildings that didn't show signs of moisture or dampness. The Tennessee Ave Public Storage has moisture in the space that was shown to me though, so that was a definite no. This Pico Public Storage & the Sawtelle Public Storage I did not see anything that shows moisture, wetness or dampness. However Pico is cheaper so I went with this location. I asked to look at 5 units in this location and 7 in Sawtelle - all were clean and have no funky smell unlike EZ storage with denies having moisture problems until I discovered molds in their wooden walls. Public storage Pico & Sawtelle dont use wood partitions or if they do in other units, I did not see any moisture/funky smell which is the main reason I am looking for a new storage building. 3. The way this location is set up is that there are 3 entrances with wide automatic open/close doors upon keying in your passcode when you walk through which is s plus when hauling stuff! 4. You do not have to press anything to turn any light on because the lights automatically turn on as soon as you walk in. In my previous storage, it was a bother that I had to walk across the hall to turn the lights on every 15 minutes because that's how cheap they are 5. No need to leave an id or log in to use a cart. Each entrance has its own cart/carts -use as you please 6. Their is a bathroom by each entrance. pretty neat! 7. PLENTY OF secured parking space! 8. In the few months I have been renting here, I have not seen any homeless person come in. In my old storage, cleanliness is always a concern for me because not only have I seen cockroaches but rough estimate 8/10 times I visited, there was always an unkept smelly person walking in and out of the building. I once raised concern to a staff because I thought it was a random homeless person walking in, but I was told they are renters. This Public Storage at least in this location seems like they do a great job in making sure they lease to safe people for the safety of everyone and everyone's stored items. I am happy I moved to Public Storage. It would be perfect if their prices were cheaper, but after renting out with another storage company for more than 6 years, I now know that higher prices are for storage companies with higher standards. read more

Regina and the team at this location were great to work with, through opening, our tenure and closing the unit. Always cracking a joke or two, and very helpful. Cannot fault the team at all. Great service. 4 stars because the elevator always seemed to close way to fast, which when loading was frustrating. This PublicStorage is fully air conditioned while others are not. They offered really good price in comparison and when I reserved online I was shocked that within 10minutes I received a phone call from Vernon following up and asking if I needed anything or had any questions. They even let me see between 2 units I was debating on and I was able to lock in the price. Best customer service I have had. Edwin and Vernon were top notch and accommodated me considering it was the Thanksgiving holiday and they loaned me a small cart so I could move in while they were closed. Totally recommend this storage and the staff. I've heard issues with other places but this one was a seamless transition for me. Also, nice and clean inside and well maintained. read more

I do not recommend paying beforehand... they're some money hungry bastards that refused to transfer my unit to another city... the manager was rude and they stole all my $300 plus they still charged a fee for nothing because they still stayed with my full money either Way! Be careful to not make the mistake because they will make you believe they will transfer or give you another unit... they won't! read more
