After booking a unit at Stor-It Self Storage, we called the listed number (+1 (949) 241-1373) to request gate access. From the moment the call was answered, I was met with an extremely rude and hostile individual named Ray. He immediately spoke in an aggressive tone and threatened to evict us despite the fact that our unit had already been paid for, and also threatened to call the police. On the first day, we asked for his full name for proper identification. He refused to provide his last name and only stated "Ray." During the same interaction, after refusing to give his last name, he hung up on my partner and then blocked his number, which was extremely unprofessional and alarming. The following day, I called back and was able to get through, and the same disrespectful behavior continued. My partner's number remained blocked, which made the situation feel deliberately unprofessional and discriminatory rather than a normal customer service interaction. This experience was extremely upsetting and stressful during what should have been a straightforward moving process. Instead of receiving assistance, we were met with hostility, threats, and a complete lack of accountability or professionalism. There was no option for escalation, no willingness to provide proper identification, and no basic customer service standards followed. I have never experienced anything like this in any service setting, and it reflects very poorly on the facility as a whole. read more

The location is great! Gated security and the units are clean and very reasonably priced TO START. Like most storage businesses, they continue to increase the monthly rent approximately every 3-4 months. They have limited hours especially on Sunday (10am - 5pm). The rest of the week it's 9am-6pm. Their customers can't access your unit(s) on holidays. They don't waive late fees. It only happened to me once and it was $10... missed it by a few days and apparently wasn't on autopay. Overall, the storage facility looked nice. The prices were right. I reserved it online, the quality was fine however the customer service was less than acceptable. I verified documents, proving my identity, as well as photocopies front and back and selfies with my identification however, they would not rent to me due to the fact, I did not have a physical ID with me, even though I have a police report stating that I was burglarized this week. Customer service to be sub par at best. Therefore, to make sure that this facility is recognized as a place who doesn't appreciate their customers, I give them one star. The guy also said that my ID must be fake because it says veteran on the ID. Very happy I went with this place to store my stuff. Maria is on it from point A to Z, and was super responsive to whatever questions I had while I was away. Access hours are a bit more limited than other places, but they're still fairly good. Although the open hours might've crunched my schedule at times, it made me much more comfortable knowing there was a tight watch on who was entering and leaving. Note- if you're storing particularly wide or weird shaped things plan to maneuver around regular sized door frames. The premises is well kept and clean and staff were helpful and responsive (they have a van, plus dollies, carts and packing materials available). We had our storage room for around 10 years. It is on a Del Rey, a backroad behind busy Washington Blvd. by an IHOP and Del Taco. The place is very large with 2 stories on the main building and two buildings behind and to the one side. We just moved out but I wanted to be sure to review it. You get a personal code when you get a locker that you have to use when entering AND leaving so no one can stay over. The managers live on site which makes me feel more secure. We haven't see carts that another reviewer mentioned but there is an elevator for the cart, boxes and stuff only that would make moving to a second story locker. The halls are clean and wide enough for moving the cart around and locks are checked by the management. The place has been very secure (to us). Although, I have also seen, what appears to be, homeless in the place-though never drunk as a never reviewer mentioned. They had a storage locker- but there was a smell coming from it when it was open. We have never seen any evidence of rats as another reviewer mentioned (thank goodness!). I would recommend Stor-It. The place is easy to move into as well as check on. We have not had any problems in 10 years which is a good record. read more

Reserved a 10x10 for Saturday and truck for moving Sunday. I get here.. they are clueless at what I'm talking about..ruined my entire timeline for moving what the f people... Unbelievable.. I came to the storage.. and the woman that quoted me half off and the truck was reserved for me for tomorrow.. was all BS I get here and they want to charge me full price. She eventually honors it.. and then she said the truck isnt available.. Uhg . I left . itnk was janky as heck anyway.. oil stains on the floor of the unit she showed me..u can see the sky lights have leaks.. The elevator is some creepy situation lame place.. stay far far away. I like my posessions.. I dont forsee me wanting to keep them here.. Thank u for wasting my time and giving me a false sense of thinking I had my moving timeline all secured.. HOW BAD IS THIS PLACE? I walked into the building where my storage unit was located to music blasting; thought to myself, that's cool I could listen to some music while cleaning. Came around the corner to see a homeless man hammered, not only with a beer in hand, but every water bottle holder on his bicycle ready for the next 3 rounds of 24oz beers. It was 10am.. I didn't spend much time in my unit that day, about 30 minutes; but the whole time I was cleaning mine out, this man was just hanging out in the hallway standing in front of a unit three down from mine. Don't get me wrong, I like to party, and I'm sure I've had plenty of beers before noon. Here's the catch - When I went down to management to explain the situation, the manager Preston looks up, goes, "I wish I had a beer". I should have moved out then. This last time I visited my unit, yup, just like all the other reviews on here, RAT urine. I moved out immediately yesterday 4/24/17. Of course I had paid the month in advance, and without giving a 10 day notice the management refused to pro-rate the 3 nights my belongings were in storage. I paid a whole month's rent for three nights. Ultimately is priceless considering I don't have to worry about my stuff anymore.. read more

I rented for 14 months and I paid over 1300 dollars for the pleasure of now being forced to deal with this whole situation in a week unless I want to pay for another month. They hiked the rent up 60% last month, so it's not like I needed an invitation to get out, but it takes a long time to handle a situation like this correctly. Rodent waste in this amount is a biohazard situation to be handled by professionals. Do not think rats would terrorize one unit and leave the rest alone! Your things will all be like mine are now: covered in feces, stained with urine, gnashed apart, and utterly garbage. I called Kim at the office and she reminded me that every tenant signs their life away in the lease. I am hoping more will read this and contact me. The truth is, the company is negligent, and no one expects this to happen to their property when they rent a storage unit. EDIT 3/14/2017 Management response below speaks for itself. Regardless of whether I had food in the unit -- I did not -- she was making this claim while the unit still had my lock on it. Management's attempts to "communicate" were accusations. Publicly blaming the victim on their Yelp page is a low bar for Stor-It to set for itself. Additionally, the company out-and-out INSULTED a Yelp reviewer below today, ignoring her rat complaint and accusing her of "customer resistance" and "taking it personally" (re: sudden outlandish rent hikes). So I had a simple enough problem, I needed some storage for some equipment. I figure since the place is called stor it, This will be a simple enough endeavor. My first phone call was very pleasant I spoke with the female who let me know what units they had available, As well as the discount available. So I decided to take a lift over there. When I arrived, I was told that the discount was no longer available because it was the last unit in that size (Which is also BS, bc upon further inspection of their website, there were at least 2 of the same size available.) I'm not sure what Carlos' problem was, but where I come from, we call that "bad business". Is he just so lazy that he didn't want to do paperwork? To turn down legitimate business for no reason simply makes no sense to me. I told Carlos I would be contacting his manager, and I will, as soon as I can find a way to do so. But my advice? Steer clear of this place. I just wasted an hour of my time and $20 in lyft rides because Carlos doesn't feel like doing his job. I'll be going to the other storage place in Venice. This is the storage place in Marina Del Rey where you want to store your stuff. I have been storing my stuff there for over two years. Kim and Preston have a Super clean place! They even have a free moving truck that you can use. Yes the rent goes up but what doesn't go up in Los Angeles? I did shop around and their prices are in line with other storage places. I read reviews like everyone else and I can see through the revenge reviews that people post. What I do know from renting here is that there are a lot of happy long term customers. I've had experience with various other storage facilities before and last week was my first time at Stor-It after many trips to the former Del Taco across the street. If I remember in the future I'll update my review along the way. In short, the onsite managers gave me a quick tour of my choices, I picked one, we reviewed and I signed the paperwork, and I left with a code for the daytime access gate and the key for my padlock. They reminded me it does rain and to be mindful of that on outside ground units and also if your movers are delivering anything mention that, big semis won't fit well but mid-sized lift-gates should. I selected Stor-It MDR based on location more than anything else and during my weekday afternoon visit everything was great. The facility looks purpose-built for storage; none of the units I saw had awkward dimensions or columns through the center like converted buildings do. Having lived in the area long enough to know the options for storage, nothing about my experience made me step back and say, "Okay, I'm just getting a quote, I'll call in an hour or two with my decision." If you're not familiar with the area, traffic can be complex and my personal convenience was a big part of the choice to go with Stor-It. If it's your first time renting, you can get a padlock at the office for a fair price or bring your own (maybe an ABUS 20/70 Diskus) and if you have precise size requirements bring a tape measure. They can auto-bill your credit card monthly and pre-paid annual is an option. Finally, consider the Goodwill across the street... read more

Upon arriving I was told the unit I had reserved would be $170 more than the advertised price on their website. I was able to convince the property manager to honor the price that was being offered. Then they had me tour the unit which was significantly smaller than what I reserved (7.5x 8 rather than 9 x10) and when I asked to tour a larger unit was told that every unit is "an estimate". I was nearly about to lock down on a storage location just on the other side of Stor-It Self Storage but for some reason I felt compelled to try one more place and spoke with Preston who was pretty enthusiastic over the phone. Their deal was super reasonable and their unit sizes were much more considerable for the amount of items I have. I think the deal maker for me was the fact that I could use their moving truck to help assist me on my move saving me on costs all around. They're right down the street from me and just down the way from my gym so it's all around convenient for me. The only downside are the hours. Most people are getting off of work and need buffer to get to their unit if necessary and you're not allowed into your unit past 645pm. It's probably the biggest downside for me and my work hours and occasional last minute events that require me access into my unit. read more
