I am beyond frustrated with my experience at this Public Storage facility. This was my first time using them, and it will absolutely be my last. The issues started with unexpected rate hikes, but the real nightmare began when I tried to move out. For over a month, the facility kept their trash cans locked, making it impossible for customers to dispose of small debris while cleaning out their units. When I placed my items near the locked bins--since there was literally no other way to dispose of them on-site--management called it "illegal dumping." They threatened me with a heavy fine unless I removed everything immediately. Because the items were too large for a standard residential bin, I had to: 1. Pay friends to help me load the garbage back into a vehicle. 2. Transport the trash back to my own house. 3. Hire a private junk removal company to haul it away. I have wasted an incredible amount of time and money dealing with their lack of basic amenities and aggressive "fining" tactics. If you want a facility that actually supports its tenants instead of looking for ways to charge them more, look elsewhere. read more

EZ sign up online days before move in. leaving plenty of prep time JIC. The day I moved in, all info was sent via text. With site access code. Access Code use 1 time for initial entry. I used the App for all leaving and entering after that. Facility was very clean. other tenants show common courtesy when leaving and entering, very important when moving. I wouldn't recommend renting here. The reason I rented here is because I was told that they offer 24 hour access on a case by case basis. I am a handicapped individual and was renting a storage space at the Oak Lawn location. When I came into inquire about renting, I specifically asked about the 24 hour access as I have to have a person accompany me to the storage space because of my mobility issues. After speaking to the general manager I was informed that the manager who misinformed me was reprimanded. During the time I was there, my rent raised from 110 a month to 154 a month without any explanation. The icing on the cake is what led me to leave this review. I vacated the unit on January 17, 2024. I went to the front office and spoke with the same individual who misinformed me the first time and inquired about a prorated amount, since I did not use the space for the entirety of January. This conversation occurred before I vacated the unit. The individual told me that I would need to contact public storage to request the prorated amount and to inquire about the refund (for the remaining portion of the month that I did not use the unit). It's impossible to get in touch with Public Storage. If you call the local branch, you just leave a voicemail and you never called back. I got online and looked up. Public Storage tried to call the numbers listed but because I've already vacated they couldn't find my space or my account number and it just dropped the call. My final attempt was using the live chat. I spoke with a representative named Keith who is extremely disrespectful. He did not take the time to hear what the issue was, and said that the rental agreement does not state that there will be any prorated amounts or refunds. After stating that, he would try to see what he could do to rectify the situation. He just repeated that there will not be any prorated or refunds. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau for discrimination of the disabled, multiple accounts of misinformation regarding the storage space and the prorated/refund situation. Do not rent at this location. It might seem nice because you could drive your vehicle in. But the text messages and emails do get annoying when they constantly harass you if you're in the storage space close to closing time. I'm an adult I have a clock I have a watch and I have a cell phone. I know what time it is and I surely do know what time you close because you told me I would have 24 hour access. This company or maybe just specifically this location sucks you by telling you what you wanna hear. They will not return your calls about any issues you have, they will increase the price of your rental space without any explanation, and you'll receive misinformation every time you inquire about anything regarding your space. Make sure you're aware that you will not be receiving a prorated amount even if you move out on the second day of the month, you'll be charged the full amount for the month. Don't waste your time contacting Customer Service via their website because they really don't care what you have to say. To say Customer Service is lacking or subpar is a complete understatement. I am so glad that my belongings are out of public storage in Oak Lawn , and I have happily relocated to a different state. read more

I like this place. It's a bit pricey but most are. The facility is very clean and well maintained. I deal mostly with Melissa and Sam, both of which are wonderful people. From the initial call to research the location and facility specifics to my arrival onsite with the truck to unload, all personnel were extremely helpful. They sent me a text message with the location and contact information while I was on the phone setting up the unit and then when I arrived the manager on duty was cheerful, helpful and even more importantly... prepared. She had all of the documents ready for me to review and sign and even highlighted the appropriate areas for signatures and initials. I was blown away by the level of customer service. The unit was completely cleaned out, swept, and ready for me to move in. The experience couldn't have been more "turn-key." This facility is is conveniently located, neat, clean, and climate controlled. Dominique was very helpful assisting me to select the correct size unit and breeze through the paperwork. They provide everything from the lock on the unit to assorted packing materials if you need it. read more
