I cannot definitively say Movetastic was responsible, but the timing and circumstances surrounding the theft of over $12,000 worth of belongings from our storage unit raise serious concerns for us personally. Combined with the lack of accountability and overall experience, we no longer feel comfortable recommending them. This is the fourth time I've used Move-Tastic and if/when we move again, I'm definitely calling them first. Pros: *The online quote process is thorough and easy to use. *Need a question answered or quote changed? Super easy when calling the company. *With each move, the movers called prior to heading toward our move-out location and arrived within the quoted start-time range. *New for this move: I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text link to track the movers' location before they arrived and when the trucks were traveling from the move-out location to the move-in location. And the tracker worked! *The movers worked quickly and efficiently. *With each move, there's at least one quiet worker and one super friendly/enthusiastic worker--and they're all incredibly kind despite the heavy lifting. This was my first time using this company and I do not plan to use them ever again. Most of my bad experience came due to the administrative mistakes and not necessarily because of the movers. The office staff significantly underestimated a previous move prior to mine and told the movers it would be a 2 hr move when it turned out to be a 5 hr move. Because of this mistake my move started significantly late and the movers had only a 30 minute window between the previous move and my move. I was told they would arrive between 11 am to 3 pm. Movers did not arrive until 3:20 pm. When I first talked to the office staff I gave a detailed inventory list. They quoted me a total of 3-4.5 hrs with 3 movers. Because the movers were sooo tired from the previous misquoted move they slowed down with my move. So it too them 6 hrs. I had to pay approximately $400 over the quoted range (the quote included materials too). When I asked for some discount for the movers starting late, the office refused. I gave 2 stars mainly because the movers themselves were good, although there was one damage. The primary mistake is with the main office staff and they refuse to own up to their mistake. read more

I can't recommend Move-tastic enough! Henry T.'s team was absolutely fantastic--communicative, timely, and professional from start to finish. I had just purchased a condo and recently had the floors and paint redone, and without me even having to say a word, they immediately brought up how they'd take extra precautions to protect my new home. From the start, they laid down additional floor coverings and padding, showing such care and attention to detail. This move was no small feat--heavy furniture, delicate antiques, and artwork, all being carried from a second-floor unit to a third-floor walk-up with no elevator. George and his crew are wonderful! We had awkward bookshelves, standing desks, white chairs and an incredibly heavy quartz dining room table to move across town. I'm not really sure why this company has such positive reviews. We hired them for packing and we've never been ripped off so badly. They charge by material used which motivates them to use a ton of unnecessary material and get it done quickly. So they packed very quickly, and used an insane amount of material, and relied primarily on small boxes rather than large or medium (more boxes more money). When we got to our destination we saw that some boxes only had a couple of things in them, and things that were not fragile whatsoever were wrapped up in paper. Looking through reviews I noticed another reviewer had the same problem with them meticulously packing every tiny thing in tons of paper. We ended up with an overwhelming amount packing paper and boxes to dispose of. It was a nightmare to sort through and get rid of. Rip off. read more

What started out as a good move, quickly took a nose dive. The team assigned to us were headed up by a seemingly knoweledgable foreman, but as the loading of the truck began to slow down considerably within the first 2 hours of the move (of an estimated 4-5 hour move) we were informed that they are training one of the members, so its going to take some extra time. In addition to that, the crew forgot their own tools and kept asking for ours, AND they ran out of packing supplies before they could finish properly wrapping and taping up the items that needed it. When they arrived with our stuff at our new place, they were incredibly slow, (my girlfriend and I were walking around with scissors and box cutters taking tape and padding off furniture to try to speed things along) The whole move took well over 7 hours and they spent too much time on things that could have been solved easily (like removing legs from a couch to get it to fit in the door) We did complain multiple times and FINALLY got some of the time refunded (only 1 hour though) but then we discovered (once we were all settled in) that our living room TV was busted (we hadn't turned it on yet as we have two TVs and hadn't finished up with the lower level yet) I texted the image to the company and received no response, and I have also left two voicemails and no call back. It feels like since they "wrapped up" with us, there is no concern now to pay attention. Definitely would not recommend Move-tastic ever again. Minus 5 stars! Stay away! This was a nightmare experience. A 4-hour move took over 7 hours because of complete incompetence and inefficiency and the "lead" was vulgar, crude and volatile. We were actually afraid of him! Multiple items were damaged, broken, destroyed, and left unwrapped even though Move-tastic came a couple of days before the move to check out the stuff I had packed, confirm the estimate and completed the packing themselves. Thank God for Move-tastic's packers. D'evion, Isiah, & Sergio serviced my parents packing needs today, and everything went smoothly. My parents are older, and moving is not something they are looking forward too, let alone packing up their entire home. So, it was our first time using a packing service, and I am glad we did. We were given a window of time in which they would arrive, and they communicated with us when they were headed our way. The guys were gentleman. They were polite. They were organized, and they looked professional. They asked questions when needing clarity, and they did a superb job handling my parents possessions with zero incidents. We will be utilizing this service again. As a company, I do think the transportation fee is a little high, but still worth the convenience. Three years ago, I used Move-Tastic for the first time. When it came time to move again, I rechecked the Yelp reviews and noticed a few duds. Such is the tyranny of online opinion. I considered another company, but I remembered how Move-Tastic made the grueling nightmare of moving such a breeze back in 2014. And if that kind of service doesn't earn repeat business, then I am some sort of disloyal gargoyle. I went with Move-Tastic again. And if it's possible, I was more impressed than the first move. 2014: Moving out of an apartment with an elevator into a storage unit with an elevator. Easy. 3 hours. 2017: Gathering all my packed and stacked belongings from that aforementioned storage unit, scooping up all my wife's belongings from a 2nd floor walk-up apartment, and moving into the 3rd and 4th floors of a walk-up condo with the narrowest freakin' hallways ever constructed by man. Our new condo is awesome, but the architect was some sort of Marquis de Sade. You literally cannot get a queen mattress box spring up the stairs. WHO BUILDS THAT? Anyway, the Move-Tastic team tackled the stairs with all the smaller items, including my stupidly heavy weight set, unwieldy bookcases, and dressers filled with junk. And then... the moment of reckoning. We had those box springs that wouldn't fit, along with my sectional, a couch, and a huge round chair that couldn't get up the stairs. The team called HQ and HQ called me. They said they could hoist the furniture up with some additional manpower and an additional $50/item fee. I was curious about how that would work. I shrugged and agreed. Two additional guys arrived for the hoisting. Unfortunately, Move-Tastic HQ had sent them with a hoist kit that didn't contain ropes. Shame on you, Move-Tastic HQ! Anyway, the guys sucked it up, ran *back* to HQ and returned with the ropes we needed. And then I witnessed the most incredible goddamned physical feat I've ever seen. The guys hooked up our stupid, giant furniture with ropes, stood on our balcony and straight-up lifted it up 4 floors with brute strength. This was unbelievable. When a couch would reach the balcony's edge, the team really had to trigger their Hulk rage to flip the thing over the railing - all the weight was concentrated on the railing itself, so there was no leverage. I watched sweat pouring in buckets off these guys. When they were finally able to get each piece up (as I stood slack-jawed in amazement), they had to rotate it (still on my balcony) until it was in position to fit through my balcony door. And they did it. With. Every. Single. Piece. Think of rotating an entire couch while you're standing on a walkway the size of a backyard pool diving board. They did that. Un. Real. And the most incredible thing is that I never once heard these guys complain. As we watched them sweat and strain for 15 minutes trying to get one particularly problematic couch over the railing, my wife and I were ready to throw in the towel. We'd let the couch go and these guys could go home. But where we were ready to give up, Move-Tastic refused to surrender. They accomplished the impossible. I give them my highest recommendation and I suggest you give them your business. My mom has been having health issues for the past year+ and things finally came to a head last month, which resulted in me needing to move her stuff while she was in the hospital. My mom is afraid of change, so coming home to a new place is going to be jarring. As such, I tried to stick with things she was familiar with, including the local mover she has used in the past. Unfortunately, they were booked and at the time, I believed I was under a tight time crunch. I literally booked the move about 3 days ahead of time. When I looked at the movers out there, I decided to hire Move-tastic because of the great reviews. While I'm normally a bargain hunter, I wasn't going to risk my mom's stuff getting broken or damaged; I would never hear the end of it. Move-tastic was very communicative. They arrived when they said they would, reviewed my quote with me, and got to work. They were careful with everything and it all went smoothly and the three guys on the job were incredibly nice. We've unpacked everything and nothing I've seen is broken or damaged, even the glass panes from her curio made it in once piece. They communicated SO WELL about every detail, had no problem changing the date a few times, and gave me a thorough breakdown with my estimate. Adding and removing items from the list was so, so, so simple. Move day: they called me 30 minutes ahead of time, arrived exactly at the time they said, and immediately got moving. They were quick and efficient. Even with wrapping up EVERY PIECE of furniture, the move time came in significantly under the estimate. All of our items arrived in perfect condition. Bummed after seeing all the great reviews. Quoted way less, then charged me $845 to move my one bedroom.

Before my move, I paid a wrapping fee. This led me to assume that things would be wrapped before they were moved. Wrapping for my past moves included the mover using moving blankets and shrink wrap, among other things. During my move with Movetastic in September of 2019, like usual, I was packing up to the last minute. I was busy so I trusted the movers, particularly I trusted that the important and fragile things would be wrapped and protected. I wasn't keeping an eye on what they were doing. A big mistake. I had a bunch of moving blankets and shrink wrap and used that on the things that weren't that important. I figured the movers would do a professional job of wrapping all the important stuff. It was only when the truck was being unloaded that I realized NOTHING WAS WRAPPED. I cringed when I saw them unloading the truck with none of the important furniture wrapped. Nothing was wrapped except the few things that I wrapped when I was packing. I asked one of the guys about it and he said, we're very careful. In the weeks after the move, I discovered that three or four things were damaged, including the most expensive piece of furniture I own. This dresser made it through three moves unscathed, but not this one. It has a big scratch on one corner. It looked like a brick wall had scraped it. This was also the first time I had my bicycle moved by movers. When I got on it about a week after the move, I realized two spokes were broken, and a wheel was so bent that it had to be replaced. The repair cost me over $250. Apparently, the bike was unfastened and unwrapped during the move and either something fell on it or it flopped around in the moving van. I didn't buy insurance because I thought, as in past moves, things would be wrapped. They did pay me some money for the damaged stuff but it was a minimal amount that didn't come close to fully compensating me for the damage that was done. Under no circumstances would I use Movetastic again. read more

We have moved 3x with Move-Tastic over the years, and have had nothing but positive experiences. We recently used them again this past Saturday and had an amazing crew of JT, Rashad, and Vald. They had great customer service, even interacting with our 11yr old son. They hustled and were extremely hard working, careful but also efficient. They helped us move some items to a nearby storage center and then also into our new place and the move took a total of 2.5hrs. We just moved a couple of weeks ago and had a great experience with Move-tastic. I recommend them. They were great on the phone in terms of estimates and so forth. They were accommodating in terms of a special pick up situation we had. They were on time and so forth. Most of the crew were great in terms of being courteous and helpful and responsive. They probably took a bit longer than I feel they could have with a break between locations and just some of the crew taking it a bit easier than others, but overall this was a successful move in working with a great group of folks. read more

I've been waffling about this review... let me start by saying just about everything arrived at my new place in one piece, which was great, but the move itself was strange. I hired them to both pack and move. On day one, the foreman explained how the day would go, but started off by telling me with the crew around him that they typically get $100 tip per person to help with their pay. Um, if that's right, the scheduler never mentioned it - and it's way above what is typical, but I felt pressured to pay it.. both days. Then the packing. I had the same problem others have mentioned - huge amounts of paper with very little in the boxes. For example, I found a bunch of paper still in the plastic wrapper just tossed on top of all the other paper with just two small flower pots in the box. Really? The day of the move it started snowing just as the trucks arrived at the house. They rightly put salt down on the steps, but then did little to nothing to protect my floors from all the salt and snow that they tracked in. I'm still - 2 months later - trying to get the salt film off my wood floors. read more

So... I've never really believed in paying others to move my stuff. Hiring movers is expensive and you really do pay for the added convenience - though having said that, I'd do this a million times again with Move-Tastic. These guys don't mess around. When you sign up online, they give you an estimate based on how much is in your house, how many rooms you have, travel, and time. They showed up early and called before coming which was great. They wrapped EVERYTHING and went over the estimate before they started. Super friendly, fast, and careful with all our stuff. They weren't able to get one couch in but they tried everything they could. Their estimated quote came in under what we expected to pay so that made it all the better. My experience with Move-tastic was fantastic! Helpful from my first phone call to the day of my move. They were so nice, professional and down to business. I was worried that it would take forever to move out of our 5 bedroom home in Lincoln Park but our movers were constantly in motion and accomplished my move into storage smoothly. These people wasted 1/2 a day of my very precious time making sure I fill out forms that, in the end, couldn't use. Why? Because even though I got a "human" on the phone in the early AM, he failed to tell me that these dudes can show up whenever they want in a 4 hour window. So if you reserve an elevator in your building forget it!! They can come at 1:00 or 5:00. Whenever it's good for them. I see Schleppers doing much more efficient job at this. Also, making the person fill out a long form of every item so they can approve an estimate when they feel like emailing it to you--not efficient or smart way to to biz. They not only stole from me, but they also damaged my items by dropping and not properly wrapping or reassembling them. The fender / reflector of my antique tandem bicycle was crushed in preventing the wheel from spinning. The whole move was a joke. Now, they're making me complete claim forms twice, once for them and once for their 3rd-party claim service company. Enough is enough; hence, this review. I have used this company multiple times for moves over the past decade, but they truly went above and beyond with this last move. When my mother recently needed movers for a last minute, same-day move (long story, which I won't get into here), I assumed there was no way in hell I would be able to find movers on such short notice. Move-Tastic was my first call, given my previous positive experiences with them, and the incredibly helpful woman on the phone, Chloe, said she would check and get back to me. A few minutes later, she called back to confirm that movers would be available that afternoon! The amazing thing is, they didn't even jack up their rates for the last minute move, but charged what appeared to be their typical rates. The move itself went very smoothly. The movers (Fransisco, Jamel, and Chris) were actually able to show up 15 minutes early (less than 3 hours after my initial call!). They finished the move in 2 hours, well under the initial estimate, despite having to deal with a cute, but annoying 4-year old constantly getting in their way and asking them questions.
