I've been renting a ground unit from this location since May. At $317 a month, it's totally not worth it. Here's why. I got the unit online under exigent circumstances. Once I got my lock key I went to the unit. The first thing I noticed was the door sweep was damaged on both sides. No big deal right? Then there was a hole in the ground which provided access for rodents to come through. Again, no big deal. I used a 20 pound weight to cover the hole. As for the door sweep, I informed the property manager and she put in a maintenance request. I was told that the door sweep was to be ordered and it shouldn't take long. About a month goes by and I am growing tired of purchasing glue traps, moth balls and moisture packs so I mention it again. Another maintenance request was made. I call the toll free number to public storage and was told maintenance would be there next day. I took off work and sat at the unit for the entire day and maintenance never showed up. The property manager told me to leave my unit key in the office so that when maintenance comes they would have access to my unit. While hesitant, I did that. Three days go by and I needed to put more stuff in my unit so I stopped by the office to pick up the key and went to my unit. Guess what? Still no maintenance. I was met with glue traps full of field mice, spiders, ants, roaches, and a dead bird. I discarded the traps. Moved nearly everything out of the unit, swept and dusted because spiderwebs were everywhere. Check the cameras if you don't believe me, you'll see me putting things in the trash and going in and out of my unit for at least 7 hours. I took a lunch break around the 4th hour. Sat in the parking lot in an orange chair by my unit. Once everything was cleaned to my liking, I sat out more glue traps and sprinkled fresh peppermint leaves around it and left. I traveled to 6 states in a 30 day period and recently returned to traps with, field mice, dead birds, spiders, ants roaches and moisture in the air. I didn't even know that house roaches still existed. Hadn't seen one since 2010. The door sweep still hadn't been repaired. I was greeted by the property manager, she expressed how it had been a long time since she had seen me. On that day I called the toll free number to public storage and expressed my frustrations. I was offered an empty apology and a promise that the district manager would call me by end of business day. I explained that a refund and a credit needs to be given because my things were being damaged. I asked who was supposed to pick up the traps with dead remains because I am not. The representative told me that they would look into refund options and asked if I wanted to transfer units. Who in the hell! Public Storage wants me to pack up my things and move them to another unit by myself. Surely they don't provide movers. When I was willing to do that in July, there was no other ground unit available. I have grown tired of voicing my complaints to Ms. Cheryl and the other staff at this location. This is clearly a maintenance issue and the lack of response reflects poorly on the district managers end and not the property manager. I warned the customer service representative that I had been as patient as I'm willing to be. My next step would be to do a review with photos. That's the quickest way to get a response. I even asked for an email to the district managers and it's as if they're apart of witness protection. No information could be given. I did not want to leave a review that would paint the staff in a negative light. They are all good to me. Many times I've had to visit the location after business hours and was accommodated. My stuff is damaged and I want to know who is going to clean repair or replace it. Mice feces and urine and god knows what else!!!! read more

this faulty require you to leave your storage open while you're in there. no light and no outlet to use a light. the lady Sheryl would come to my build olny when im there. stocking me upset because i would close the door when im in my storage looking for items. i moved in and moved back out on 14 days. i called corporate and explained to him to men were walk by to much so i close the door. he explained to me Chris told me he never had a problem with anyone. i explained you are a man. im a women then he hung up on me. i was paid up to 7 months. but i moved out. when i was in the office i heard a customer stating Sheryl messed her balance up and locked her stuff in the storage illegally. Not the BEST location . FYI there's spiders & webs everywhere . I didn't come to complain about that. I just want PS to know that Don has GREAT customer service. I've had 3 interactions w him so far & all 3 interactions were amazing. He is a man of his word , gets the job done , and he looks out for the customer. Don, you're appreciated!!! read more

Donald was really helpful and knowledgable. The service here was great. This location had the best deals of any public storage in the Nova area. We got a 10x10 unit at this store for cheaper rate than a 3x5 unit at the Old Town Alexandria store. However, the location is in a bad area. It's a high crime, low-income area with sketchy individuals walking around the premises. The facility itself is secure, but just be prepared and come only during the daytime, preferably with someone. read more

The main problem I had was the rodents. There every where. When I finally moved out I had rat poop over a lot of my things.

I called to find out pricing on units, and did not chat with someone at this particular store but someone that handles all locations. Her name was Vanessa, she seemed nice enough, until she told me the price of the unit, and I said, "thank you, I found a better deal". She then asked what the deal was and how much they were charging me to move in/first month. She told me I was probably confused with them. To which I replied, "no, I just spoke to them. They are a different company. " she replied with, so what do you want us to do. I said "nothing, that's why I told you thank you and I found a better deal/price". She then hung up on me....... The only reason I left 1 star is because I had to. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but that's it. This place is filthy, disgustingly dirty! People are using the bathroom all over the place and it stinks. I don't know when the last time that place was cleaned. There is trash every where. The elevator never works. So if u have large heavy items you have to carry them up and down the stairs your self. There are no cameras inside of the facility so I didn't feel safe at all. I think people were sleeping there. I did not feel like my things were secure. The only reason I moved there was because of the price, it was very close and convenient. I would advise that you look around before moving your stuff to this place. They need to knock this building down and start over. read more

I would have given them one star but to leave a review you have to choose one star. This is the worst location by far!!!! Let's just say if you want to actually keep the item you store don't store them here!!! I rented a storage unit from this facility and it was broken into!! Not only was my unit broken into other were also!!!! To make matters worst the property has no surveillance on the units so how can you even monitor my things???? I was then informed that I should just file a claim and i would have my things replaced as if it was that simple WRONG they wanted me to file a report find receipts for each item missing. I'm just wondering who keeps receipts or pictures of their belongs? None of that is stated before they rent to you because then you would probably take pictures of your belongs before hand !!!!!!!! Let's talk about public Storage as a Corporation very unprofessional nobody has reached out to me to even offer me an apology or anything but they make sure im charged every month for a unit that isn't secure. Beware when renting a unit with Public Storage. I rented a unit on a holiday promotion price and the elevator was not in use when I went in to pay. I questioned the fact that they advertise for elevator usage and it wasn't available. The manager on duty explain to me that the elevator would be back up and running within two weeks. I had no problem with this at the time because I was not going to use the unit until then. On the day that I came to move into the unit the elevator was still not working she explained at that time that she would move me to a different elevator and that I would be able to get the same rate that I had been paying already. A month later I noticed that my bill rent had gone up $72 when I explained to her that she had me on the promotional rate and I was paying more there was nothing she could do. I then spoke to her supervisor Joe Oliver he also explained that there was nothing he could do because that is a corporate decision. Beware this company will jack up the prices in order to fit their needs and even false advertise. They do not care about their customers. read more
