I just received a rental increase of 34% which was an additional $176 per month. As a senior citizen, I cannot afford a monthly increase this drastic. There are other facilities in Pleasanton, some that are climate controlled that are renting for less than my current rate with Extra Space. There are rules for rent increases for housing; maybe we need to contact our state representatives to suggest rules and limits on increases for storage rental fees as 34% is both shocking and unreasonable, in my opinion.

In my experience, he verbally accosted me, threatened me with law enforcement, and told I could be arrested, removed, banned, or treated as a trespasser, even though I was a verified paying customer renting multiple units. I am an immigrant woman of color and a mother who was often at the facility with my young daughter. EVEN COULD NOT CONTROL HIS BEHAVIOUR IN FRONT OF MY CHILD. The repeated harassment made me feel intimidated, unsafe, and deeply uncomfortable being there. The situation became so stressful and traumatic that I eventually felt afraid to get out of my car and interact with him because I did not know whether another confrontation or threat of police involvement would occur. I spent hours crying in my car and he continued to verbally abused me even after seeing my distress and hyperventallating. While on the phone with a manager, he said "I don't care, Get out". The cumulative stress and trauma from these repeated encounters ultimately caused me to vacate all my units, incur additional moving, storage, U-Haul, and childcare expenses, and move heavy belongings largely by myself while my husband was out of town. I EVEN HURT MYSELF. I have used other storage facilities without ever experiencing anything comparable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location to anyone who expects to be treated respectfully and professionally.

But, because the Sportage has it's attachment holes set farther back, the receiver was too far back to accept the bike rack. James (the installer) quickly saw the issue, and said that they would order a different hitch and they would switch out the original hitch at no additional charge. When the new hitch arrived it became clear that it's geometry was very similar to the original hitch, so James spent a bunch more time researching various options that might work. He found one that looks promising and had it delivered to the shop within a couple days. This one looked much better, and James swapped out the old one with the new one, and it solved the problem... the bike rack attaches perfectly! James was AWESOME to work with. He was always trying to solve the problem and find a solution. He never gave up, and in the end he created a very satisfied customer! If you need a hitch, see James at U-Haul in Pleasanton!

And to add insult to injury, I see that the same location has an identical unit available for less than my original price, as a discount from a price less than my current price.

I chose the latter as I do have a truck and I was able to get a shed in my backyard. This may be the practice in the industry, but personally it feels pretty scummy to me. I'm only giving 2 stars as the staff were pleasant and easy to work with. As long as you know what you are getting into things should be fine.
