Temperature controlled storage. Overall great, but here are some notes Very easy to move out! I was expecting some gotchas, but I just chose a move-out date online and I just moved out. No 30-day notice, no hassle. All done. Thank you! Insurance - Expect to add $10 more to your monthly rent for insurance. Price increases - When I moved in, this place was new and was offering around $60-80/month. I was told the price won't increase, but price did slowly creep up and now I'm paying $150/month! Bugs or rat droppings? - I kept my boxes in here for almost a decade so there were bugs and rat droppings on the boxes. No big deal. Could've been a lot worse. Lack of carts - There used to be a lot more carts, but on my move-out date, there were only 3-4. I would avoid busy days if you need the cart. Have a plan! Have a move-out date! I once moved in as an urgent need and ended up not touching anything inside of it for almost a decade. I ended up paying $10,000 to store my $100 worth of crap. read more

This Public Storage is wonderful, the staff are kind and it's clean and well maintained. Huge shout out to Jean, her customer service is amazing. She went above and beyond to help me deal with closing a storage unit account that I had opened for an ex who had stopped paying. All of the account contact info had been changed to his info so I had no idea he had stopped paying. She looked up the original contact number, my cell, and called me so that I could pay and close the account and save myself from taking a hit on my credit. I am so thankful for Jean, and in awe that she had the ability to assess the situation, the drive to follow through and look for my information, and the compassion to contact me and walk me through what I needed to do. I have been a loyal customer at Public Storage for two years, never missing a payment. While I was in the facility the other day, the very helpful staff person let me know that my exact unit was going for half the price of my current unit, and the only way I can get access to that price would be to transfer all my stuff from one identical unit to another!! I was offered a very small discount -- for three months, but the fact that I can't enjoy the price that someone walking off of the street would obtain seems just ludicrous to me. read more

Customer service at this location is out of this world. Jean and Jennifer allowed me to avoid and waive any late fees or payments. I originally rented this storage space for a temporary less than a month but ended up staying for the full month, there was a miscommunication between the employee who rented me the space and I, so when I went in to move all my stuff out, apparently I was a day late, however Jennifer and Jean made sure to help me avoid the late fees and I only had to pay 10 dollars for the day. Thank you so much for helping me, next time I need to rent a storage space I will be sure to go to THIS location. read more

I had a storage unit for years around the corner on King Road where they had closed the on-site office and the Lenfest became the office for the King Road location. While the facility on King was always clean and well maintained, this review is more about Jean in the Lenfest office. I just moved to a new city and due to a mistake in scheduling, my movers didn't show up to pick up my things from storage until 6:30 p.m., the facility closes at 7:00, and it had to be done by that night since I was leaving town early the next morning for my new home. I was panicked, but Jean was so incredibly kind and understanding of my situation and went WAY above and beyond by coming over to King location after she got off work at 7:00 and stayed until almost 9:30 (!!) when my movers finally finished loading the truck so we could get out the security gate. Even the movers thought she was amazing and said she is proof that there are still wonderful people in this world. Without Jean's kindness, my move could have been a disaster, but she saved the day! She's a huge credit to the company IMO. I even tried to compensate here but she flatly refused (but still in a kind way, of course). Thank you, Jean! You are still my hero! read more

I STRONGLY suggest avoiding any business with Public Storage. We've had our unit with them for 4 months and out of nowhere they are raising our rent by 40%. $299 to $416. This was an egregious bait and switch. I've read our rental contract thoroughly and there is no mention of promotional pricing. If you do business with public storage expect to end up paying 50-100% more than is being advertised. It would literally be cheaper to rent a new unit at the SAME location same size and everything, it would cost us half. New units right next to mine are $150. These people are crooks read more

I have made reviews for this location which is my home storage location. I have been renting at Lenfest close to 7 years. The reason I've stayed so long is because of the Amazing customer service this team has . Jean is store manager and is not only great at her job but also because like family with her kindness and concern for meeting every need of ours. Honestly everyone who works at this location are the best . Gabriella is another hard worker and always willing to provide all her attention as needed with making sure us as customer leave satisfied. The training that shows with how we are treated as customers is excellent. You need a rental this is the best location for it. I needed a space to store my school supplies and I was very impressed by the customer service provided by the staff when I arrived in the morning. Sheila was very professional, friendly, and assisted me with reseting my access code to use the elevator. She even helped to remind us to get our hand truck from our U-Haul truck. In previous reviews there were concerns regarding security but I saw active security cameras in the front entry, coming into the lobby, storage unit on floor 2 and an alarm for after hours. You can purchase a lock with a key that fits into the storage unit for 20 bucks Price: cheapest rate compared to other local places in sj where similar spaces are 200 bucks a month. I will update if anything else arises but I feel safe leaving my belongings at this facility. Thank you Public Storage. Phone Application makes it easy to update your storage needs and there is a kiosk ok the side of the lobby to the elevators too if it gets busy. read more

I would rate this place negative stars if I could. Do not rent from here. My mom's rent doubled in one month, so I had to assist her with moving out. I wish I got the name of the staff member that assisted me at the front desk. She was very rude and disrespectful. I moved everything out of the unit and brought the keys/lock to the main office, however they were unable to provide me with a vacate receipt they had no one available to inspect the unit and I did not take picture of the empty unit (I did not know I had to). They said they would email me my receipt once there is someone available to go inspect the unit with no timeframe other than "the end of the business day." I was only there assisting my mom vacate her unit for that day since she was elderly and needed assistance. I was supposed to travel back to Sacramento that afternoon, so if there were any issues I would be unavailable to help her before she is charged an additional month in rent. This was merely the only reason I needed the vacate receipt ASAP. I really had no issues with returning to the unit to take a picture that day. So, after lunch I ended up returning to the unit to take a picture. I thought since I was already at the unit, it was a nice gesture to pick up the dead rat, so they did not have to. Since I had picked up the rat myself, my mom and uncle thought I should notify the staff that there was a dead rat in the unit which I had cleaned up, so management could address it. I honestly had no issue with the unit and the rat since it was dead and given I've only been there twice (to help my mom move in and to help her move out). What took me aback was when I returned to the main office to show them the picture of the empty unit and mentioned there was a dead rat in the unit, the employee at the front desk abruptly and rudely asked why I did not bring this up earlier in the day and that my only reason in bringing it up was because I could not take "no" for an answer." I told her politely, I honestly had no issues with the rat since it was dead and my only intention was to inform them as a courtesy since I had cleaned it up when I returned to take a picture. The employee continued after everyone left the front office "You are a brat" and told my uncle standing to my side to train me better. She then yelled, "The doors are open. Get out and leave now." If anyone here needs to be re-trained it's definitely not me. I remained very professional the entire time. I chose to uphold myself at a higher standard than her and did not throw any of the name-calling back at her. I hope management reviews the video camera installed at the main office and takes appropriate corrective action so this does not happen to someone else. read more

The customer service from the employee Jean is very unprofessional. As well as disrespectful. I have never been more upset by any storage I've ever rented from. This lady not only yelled at us but went as far as to evict us. The reason being we had a service dog with us. No barking or misbehavior. And with all current papers and vaccines. This lady Jean went as far as to tell us to leave our unit. Only to have her put an eviction paper on our unit to evict us. Now this I believe to be discrimination and I will be pursuing legal representation about this matter. Never again will I ever rent from another public storage nor recommend them at all. read more

DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE: prices were good, but the ceilings are literal chicken wire, thieves pry it up, and Public Storage knows but doesn't care. We rented a large unit for 2021 and moved in many of our belongings. In August, we got a call that our mattress was in the hall and our unit's door was open: there'd been a break-in. Dresses and undergarments were ripped out of suitcases and thrown all over the floor, purses and IDs were rifled through, and the thieves stole laptops, a desktop, and a bike. The police immediately found the entrance: The chicken wire ceiling had been yanked up. It's apparently common for thieves to break in from above, permanently disable the door's cylinder lock from behind, and exit through the door. The really sad part: This isn't new. Public Storage's manager said this is the #1 cause of break-ins at the facility. There's no camera coverage and zero other ceiling protection: Literally anyone with a stepladder can start crawling over your unit. Naturally, Public Storage has no accountability for their building's top method of theft. You'd think they would close the Large Open Holes above units the first time a theft occurred. Instead, they know about the obvious liability, haven't made any attempt to fix it, and don't take any responsibility when it's exploited. Don't make my mistake... go to another facility that will learn from times it missed the mark. read more

The place is really clean but the staff sucks 30 min before closing they don't want to give you access to the carts, I hired some people to help me and we all just wasted our time, they also have a sign of the office hours and no one is here is 8:30am, I even came 10 min before opening. I need access to carts and I can't use them because there's no staff in the office. Management needs to improve customer service this is not aceptable wasting people's time. read more

My storage unit, along with three other units, were broken into, with my bike stolen and my belongs trashed. There are quite a few other reviews with the exact same issue. They don't seem to be making any effort to address the issue. The more conspiracy minded part of me thinks management itself might be getting a kickback from all the stolen goods. The staff stated that "they were not at liberty to disclose how often break-ins happen", but when I filed the police report (which I had to take days off work and fly across the country for), the police said this was almost a weekly occurrence at these units. The building has cameras inside but they did not make any effort to track down the burglars. In their defense, it's not clear that the cameras work. Management was very cagey about any questions regarding the security footage. The units themselves are covered by a wire mesh at the top that the burglars can easily cut through. They then break the lock from the inside. The picture attached shows where they've cut through the wire, which they haven't bothered closing up for almost a whole year. The initial monthly payment of $60 also quickly went up to $110 after a year or so. I was offered a complimentary lock to replace the broken one for my troubles. read more

PLEASE just order more carts. Every single time I come to this location I spend more time waiting for a cart than loading. People sit in the parking lot just waiting for them to open up. Its not reasonable to have 2 carts and multiple storage units. It's almost to the point where I've considered leaving this location because although the staff is great and the facility is great, it's SUCH a hassle dealing with the carts. What could be a 10 minute trip turns into an hour because you have to wait for someone to either finish moving allllllllllllllll of their stuff or take yours one by one to the 2nd floor. read more
