We had a problem with the unit we purchased online and so we hoped to switch to a new one around the same price. Thankfully, Sheila made that possible. After reading these reviews, I am now worried about how well the security is in the building. But we were assured that they are working on adding more security cameras. As far as I know my stuff is still there... though reading some of the other reviews makes me a little worried. They just more than doubled my rent, from 47 to 101. supposedly you get 30 days notice, which given maybe they mailed it at 30 days... that didn't happen. And apparently they can raise it again anytime with the "30 days" notice. I picked this place because it was cheap. It's not close, so at this point I can rent a space for the same price a few blocks from my house. The facility seems mostly pretty clean in my experience. There's no where to throw anything at all out, and if they have bathrooms I have no idea where. There will never be carts for you to use. I've never seen one even when there is no one there. I've never seen any one in the office at maybury rd either. Then there's the threat of being locked inside the facility if you aren't out by 6pm. Surely that's illegal, and it's definitely a fire hazard. Plus the hours are very short especially with traffic on the increase. Am so mad and offended because I went to this location and one of the employees from here was so rude to me only because I was and need to break a 100 dollar bill and she didn't wanna help because she said that I had too much money on me and it was fake her name is Yena she make me feel so bad and embarrassed in front of costumers I can't believe that people are like that or maybe she was raises because am Mexican and she is white. I have a fairly large number of grievances. TLDR: Overall, I was fairly dissatisfied with the moving experience and ended up costing way more money than the prices displayed online. I find the necessity to purchase locks an unnecessary exploitation. In fact, when I first went onto the storage unit it was already locked with the Public storage's lock and we had to jostle with it till we realised and had to go back all the way to call the manager. The locks can easily be part of the rental. I find the entry/exit rules weird. First, it's not possible to exit the facility after 6pm -- which makes it impossible to move in after 5pm (working hours). However, in the specific facility I was moving into, the manager leaves at 5pm (which we were never told). It makes it impossible to move after 4 pm, and we had to return twice without actually being able to move our stuff. I had to pay quite a lot additionally for renting the trucks twice. The third time, when we did come in the morning to move. We found the manager absent and gone for the next hour. How understaffed is the facility? Unable to acquire a moving dolly, we had to wait before moving our stuff again. In my storage unit itself, the lights were not functional and it was pain to move in our stuff where we had to use mobile flashlights just to put our stuff in. We also found a weird plastic bag just sitting on top of the unit, raising questions about the hygiene. The facility also did not ensure mandatory masking on entry to premise. It was uncomfortable being in proximity of unmasked tenants (again understaffed). I would not recommend this place -- consider finding another storage facility. read more

My experience with this public storage was one of the most worst I ever had with Public Storage. All I can say is don't ever go to this one, and expect your stuff to be OK. Management is very prejudiced against other nationalities. Can't help but wonder who on earth is writing these sugar-coated fake reviews about this horrible place. 1. Express check-in is bullshit: You are made to come in contact with their salespeople at the office for no reason but to sell stuff you don't want, forcibly. Can't you do without this nonsense at least at this COVID time? 2. The cost you see online is not even half of what you'll actually pay: There are too many hidden costs they don't bother to explain. The lock is $20 and surprise, surprise you can't (apparently) buy this super awesome lock anywhere else. More surprise, they won't give you specifications of the lock. 3. More hidden costs: Don't trust what you see online even about the unit because once you're there you'll know its just a locker. You must also buy useless insurance which is half the cost of the unit, and then there's the administrative fee. They'll also try to sell more such unwanted stuff. 4. More lies: One day after reserving a spot online, these folks give me a call at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning! But, guess what, they'd make loud comments about how their units are -- I kid you not -- "the hottest thing in town" as they have none left. 5. Horrible person behind the counter: Special mention to Ms Princess who is mean, rude and utterly unprofessional. When you politely decline their 'merchandise' (which is suddenly in your bill), she'd say "Oh, you're trying to save $20". "Oh, you can't get other insurance". I mean what the hell, shouldn't I decide what I want to do? They don't even give you the option and force you into signing something you absolutely don't want to. Even with insurance, I wanted to check with my provider to see if my policy covers it before I went on to buy the insurance these folks provide. But, apparently, in this free world, you are not allowed to do that either. I hope this place gets slapped with an expensive lawsuit so they learn their lessons read more

This was my first time renting at a storage facility, so I did not know what to expect. Building and reception were extremely clean, and Jediah who helped me out was AMAZING. I wasn't sure of the space I rented online, so she happily showed it to me before I made any confirmation. Jediah was extremely helpful and patient throughout my entire check-in process. This is a gigantic storage facility that has really got it's act together. My Uncle moved out-of-state last weekend and left me with a few loose ends to tie up here so I had to move furniture for a client of his yesterday from this Public Storage. This building is MASSIVE and without the map he had left me I would have never found his unit but I did and everything went off without a hitch. The elevator ride to the 2nd floor was pretty problematic at first because of a somewhat complicated passcode system but then one of the very friendly employees helped me out with it and I got everything right. This office closes at 6PM and I really don't know how long actual facility is open but I'm glad I was able to get most of the things moved and I can turn in the unit soon. Now I know what to expect from storage places when I rent one of my own, they're pretty convenient. read more

Since 2014 I have been using storage space in Public Storage, first in Sacramento and now in San Jose. After using the Sacramento storage when opening the storage here in San Jose I couldn't believe how much cleaner Public Storage is here. I can actually get to my things and sort through boxes, switch summer clothes to winter. Very nice place. read more

BADS: - Lot of THEFT in this place. We have seen the police there multiple times taking reports of burglarized units. - They have their LIFTS OUT OF SERVICE for days at a time. Our unit was in the 2nd floor, we had to use the stairs to carry a 2BR apt worth of furniture. - The loading area is filled with NAILS and screws. Really looked intentional. - Never seen the manager around to address issues. - Doors and gates to the facility are often UNLOCKED and open. Anybody can walk in. GOODS: - The staff do the best they can given the situation, have in general good attitude and are helpful. read more

Be careful people there is a lot of theft in this place, my unit got broken into and they have done nothing for me. No incident report even though I have requested one more than two times. No one has followed up with me about my incident. I also wonder how does someone break into a unit if you need an access code to get inside the building and they have cameras??? If you have valuable which I can only imagine if they are your items they are valuable to you. Make sure you do your research. read more

At first, I was a bit lost, this is my first time looking around for storage units and trying this one as my first was a great choice in my opinion. I've heard a lot of good things about public storage spaces but that means nothing if it's your first time, when I walked in I was greeted and helped by the nicest employee by the name of Angelica. She let me know how it all worked in order to acquire space and even pointed me in the right direction to which size of space that I needed. it definitely made me feel welcomed and in the right hands, customer service was amazing, and I know it's not often you see a good review be posted here on yelp but seriously she was incredibly helpful, no cap. Very very worst customer service. I have loaded the boxes and went to the storage and called before and check if I can come at 5:15pm and went they say I can't rent because they wanna go hone by 6. Later said they can give one they can't give the cart and they keep saying me I can't use it . All the ladies in the front desk fair very very rude and humiliating when they know how to be good the customers . They expect me to load boxes one by one without a cart when I was there 5:30pm their 17$ offer was scam and they charged almost $77 with one time fee and stuff . Will never use the service because they some bunch of people who is very lazy. Hence the offers read more

Changed access hours from 6am to 9:30am without notifying. I arranged movers at $180/hr to meet me and I wasn't able to access the site. Called customer service and said there was nothing they could do and contract states they can change access hours at any time without notifying. As many stupid emails as they send out, that count be one of them? Why would access hours need to be reduced and not just office hours? In addition to this, when we moved in they changed the location to there back building which is actually on a different road. We were paying movers at that time too. I was livid and they took forever to get us through the paperwork, insisting on doing a tour while we were paying for movers. Even knowing that I was upset with them changing our location and taking their time with paperwork and an unnecessary tour, the lady still BEGGED us for a five star review saying her livelihood depended on it. That's the only reason this establishment has the reviews it has obviously. read more

This location has absolutely one of the best customer care services. They are extremely welcoming and patient with their customers. There was an incident with a family member of mine involved in an accident. The employees were extremely patient with the situation that entailed a fired truck, police, and ambulance. They even asked if my family member was okay. I truly appreciate their compassion and empathy they had. read more

Public Storaging is the perfect place to rent, they have a very secured system that protects your items, they are very reliable, they are helpful with a great management and staffing service. Their storage is very clean and great space. Their haul in locations are convenient plus push carts available at the entry door making your move as simple as possible. This seems an excellent, though we didn't use it voluntarily--it was the only Public Storage open when traffic on 237 allowed our movers to arrive. My wife was redirected here from the Milpitas location, whose staff was much less helpful. It seemed clean, and was open when we needed. This storage used to be FM Storage and was bought by Public Storage. In the 3 years that Public storage has owned it, the service and interior has suffered immensely. There is garbage in the hall ways, graffiti, dirty restrooms and urine in elevator. The key pad entrance for the elevator doesn't even work so anyone can get in building. Also there was a gate issue and I had to wait for a person across the street at the new building to come and let me in and out. The girl had a attitude. I complained and was told that someone goes 2 times daily to clean. This is utter BS because I was at my storage multiple times and the garbage is still there. The place looks so ghetto. The final straw was when I sent a email of my complaint and no one has contacted me or made any improvements. I moved out today to a better place that cares about their customers. read more
